Just can't see Rads having the funds required in order to get the quality that's needed in. Think that is why we have not invested in the squad properly and then failed to invest in January. All the talk about MB being happy with a small squad and only wanting one player in January is all just spin. Rads did not have the readies to buy James in January and tried to get him on the never never. Don't get me wrong I like MB and think Rads is doing his best, what I dislike is Rads and his spin team thinking we are all fools and will swallow any line the club throws out.
Very poor from Rads when a few million could have strengthened the team enough to get up and he then looses out on £350 million.
Will that chance present itself for him again? Not without investment!

You're probably right '70. Just reading that we don't have 6mil spare for a CB.

1970 If mb wasn’t happy with a small squad he’d have walked. He’s walked for far less in the past and if you look back at the club teams he’s managed he’s always done it with a small squad. As for the James saga it wouldn’t have mattered if rads had put up £30 million as there chairman wasn’t going to let the deal through under any circumstances as in his own words he delayed the deal until it was too late in the interest of the club. We had agreed a fee with the owners but can’t do anything about a kamikaze chairman going rogue can we.

We don't have any money available for signings other than loan signings. Unless we get a load of cash injected from somewhere we will be looking at loans only.

Alf only a handful of people know what money we have. If you go around bragging you’ve got a £20 million war chest then average £1 million pound players become £5 million pound players as all the clubs will increase there players value to a club they know has money.

That's what is often banded about TTIAO but I'm not convinced myself. The noises coming out of people close to the club seem to confirm the fact that we have no money and we are focussing on loans. I can see a cash signing if we sell a few but so far nobody has been sold so we don't have any funds to sign anyone new. Even if we did the funds we make seem to evaporate - look at last season for instance.

It’s called overheads Alf, better a chairman living within our means than one like Peter risedale.

Indeed TTIAO, but that doesn't suggest a club with loads of money just keeping schtum - it suggests a club with no money.

All down to interpretation as always. Loans cost money too, in loan fees, and wages. Thanks to wages in the PL, and player values, loans are the only viable option if we are to stay within the bounds of FFP. The only way to purchase players, when you’ve not got parachute payments, are “ ones for the future”.

They think it’s all over, get real! And while your at it take your head out of Rads’ backside . He either hasn’t got a pot or isn’t prepared to invest in the first team and tried to buy DJ on the never never, hence it fell through and as a result probably cost us promotion .

Bright - FFP is just an excuse.

The way i understand it we are comfortably within the limits imposed by the EFL having a £12.2m deficit for the three season cycle 2015/ 18. We are allowed up to £15m without any input from the owner and £39m if the owner makes up the defecit. So to my mind that means we could spend £26.8m this season if we wanted to and still be within the limits providing the owner stumps up some cash, in our case, to the tune of £24m. That would be plenty to get some decent players in.

Even if you factored in the operating losses of £4.3m. Hell, let's round that up to $5m operating losses and we would still be able to spend £21.8m this season and be compliant.

We make the most revenue in the league (discounting clubs with parachute payments) of £40.7m so how we still make a loss of £4.3m is also a bit of a worry for me and that was after we took into account £18.1m generated through player sales (although to be fair we also invested over £10m in new players and their wages) . we hardly broke the bank though.

Yes Alf, but wages are part of the P&L, so £26.8 mill doesn’t leave much for transfer costs, if you buy a couple of players for 10mill, then pay them 40k per week, which is exactly my point. Loans are a much shrewder way forward, then invest when we get promoted.
