How good are the U23’s to watch at present, coaching definitely changed both culture and style of play. Loved Clarke’s goal for the technical ability but actually enjoyed Nicells more in that it started from our keeper and following a number of crisp purposeful passes Nicell struck a great finish. Whilst I appreciate anyone stepping up to the championship will have to cope with the sheer physicality they will face. These players are technically gifted, have a sound understanding of the Bielsa/ Corberan mindset and our CLUB looks far better than I can remember.

Agree Class and there were some newer names in that team that had great games, Gotts and Casey, locals I think. Leif Davies from Morecambe looked good again and Diaz had a good game as captain and centre back, useful. The style of the club is running through the club.

Yesterday they were playing a flexible defensive system of back 5 that became a back 3 with all the 5 moving about the field a lot and you could see the players covering if 1 went forward. Very impressive.

gotts is local lad and very promising I believe from what I have read and heard and expecting him in 1st team soon.

we have always had a good academy and always brought through great players even in league one. but looks like the new set up is on another level!

Should also add that the under 23s are top of the league, unbeaten, 4 wins out of 5!

News of shipping out 4 U23s then days later U23s win 4-0. Times are good. Just a question of how many will burst thro to first team this year.

Thanks Spanish only started really taking close interest in the under 23s due to feedback from you, bright and Bige. Very excited to see how many make the grade though.

Think the coaches have done an excellent job. Nicell has improved tremendously and everyone on the team knows their job. Even the guys who came in from the first team gave 100%, and believe me that's not always happened in the past. Dalby, Edmondson, Clarke, Stevens, great front line and if we can keep them all will save millions in the future. Gott and Davis excellent. Diaz improving every game. Two talented keepers in Miziak and Huffer. Add some of the loanees to the mix and our squad looks stronger than most people think. let's not forget players like Taylor who we all praising last season who can't get a game. Yes all young but sure if used sparingly can help the first team. Onwards and upwards.

Must add i think the biggest credit should go to Bielsa who has transformed the footballing side of the club. His philosophy and style of play is evident right through the club even the U16s are playing Bielsaball. Shows what a top coach can bring to the club and what we have been lacking.

Great positive posts! Really agree about the strength in depth. Obviously the step up for these boys is a real challenge but often, you don’t know until you give them a chance. That’s why the solution all the time isn’t buying new players in at first team level. Buy more in at junior level mix them with home grown and then select the best. I echo the comments about the first teamers as well, my respect for Harrison, Baker and Zbamford really grow yesterday, Friday afternoon at Elland Road, few hundred people, a bit nippy, but worked so hard and set a great example and great opportunity for the lads!

Other bonus about going to the the under 23s, is that there were a few attractive middle aged women around then I realized they were the players Mums!

What are the views on Orta these days?

Orta, like lots of other people, makes mistakes and tries to learn from them. Really isn’t in his own interests to bring in crap time and time again. I think a lot of the time we like everything to be black and white, he’s rubbish and he’s fantastic, whereas often it’s just in between somewhere!

Orta the enigma. Obviously a lot of talent in academy and first team. Think its thanks to our present coaching system for the improvement. Think we could have lost a few under the radar if Bielsa had not arrived. He identified the ones he thought could do a job. Think some of us were doubting Orta when young ones were coming in by the bus load. Radz himself has said we have too many which begs the question why did we bring in so many, was it a hit or miss thing, playing percentages, who knows. Would like to think he knew what he was doing.
