Reflecting on last season, what does everyone think, would it have made a difference from xmas onwards, if we had of set up more defensively, especially away from home against the top half teams. MB's policy of win every game is great when the team has the fresh legs. Would we have picked up more points if we had shut up shop a few few times or were we trying to retrieve games after going behind.

Don’t think they ran out of legs. The stats say energy levels were high still

Mental fatigue is another matter. That’s when individual mistakes came in

teams worked us out a bit too. If the stopped us scoring first and early it’s a different game

Think we lacked someone to shut the game down when the other team got on top. 20mins vs Derby being a prime example of losing a grip on the game

You need a midfield leader or two at those moments

Experience

Those players will have learned.

Going to back to the conversation the other day - we didn’t replace Saiz ability to unlock stubborn defences with one killer pass. That’s perhaps when the mental fatigue comes in - heads drop. Cooper played beyond his ability last year - thanks to MB it seems - and is still prone to mistakes at crucial times and Pontus is a prima donna but the defence still conceded less goals than Norwich. We always have the possession we just lost the ability to convert it into goals. If Casilla stopped the stupid rushing out he’s a better goalie than BPF - I just don’t think he will at his age. We lost that bit of quality to say to teams you can stonewall all day but we’ll eventually unlock you. And by the way - Lampard did not tactically outwit Bielsa in the 2nd leg. We comprehensively outplayed Derby for 3.5 matches last season but then imploded due to stupidity in the match that mattered and the flair wasn’t in the team to recover from that in that match. If they are able to replace Saiz, they then need someone to protect that flair and tetchy personality. It doesn't need to be crass fouls, just someone with the presence to read the opposition their fortune and be able to tackle hard without going in with studs raised like our favourite Swiss.

every team always need a plan b

it is great to set up like man city Barcelona or liverpool but when you ain't got the players it won't work all the time that's when plan b has to come in

end of the day we played great football but the boring dull sheff utd beat us with lesser players so subtance won over style. if mb don't learn and change style when needed we will never go up unless rads spends about 40 million to make sure we can do a wolves

the more i think about this season and how close we were last year the more i feel sick to my stomach.

When we tappy lappy around with the ball around our defence, I’m having kittens, it’s a disaster waiting to happen and 2nd leg play off showed our frailties. Cooper always gets in a panic and is exposed for the poor defender he is but he’s not alone there.

We could have and should have signed Tommy Elphick who was a free agent but we’ve let Huddersfield get in before us. Elphick is much better than what we have and would’ve been ideal alongside Pontus. We need to sign a decent decent CB.
Instead we’re still chasing youth for small change.
Missed out on Reece Brown (Fleetwood) .

Just feeling really annoyed about Huddersfield get Elphick, so so seriously should have been a Leeds player now.
