Karl Robinson in the mix for a possible new manager. I know mk dons were relegated but he is a good young coach, knows the league and plays good football.
I'd much rather a manager who understands the league than taking a punt on a foreign coach who has never managed here.
Having said that Evans, just about, deserves a chance to show what he can achieve with a pre season under his belt, his OWN new signings and given at least to the new year.

CORKWHITE

1.) 16 May 2016 08:02:31
I agree Corky, with everything you put there. The only thing is the chairman. At the moment he doesn't know what he wants, so if any kind of protracted take over is attempted it's going to put the brakes on and kind of movement. If he wishes he hadn't of bought us, then leave Evans in charge until somebody comes in for us and then maybe they will have the ambition he obviously lacks.

2.) 16 May 2016 09:47:29
Mainly, I agree, but KR made 4 big signings preseason . and they managed 10 or so games between them. Personally, I would like SE to stay and give it a real go.

3.) 16 May 2016 17:49:10
Lads the press have little to write about so we will be linked to anyone with a heartbeat board meeting on Wednesday so maybe an announcement in the coming days will answer our questions knowing Massimo probably not.

Really hope Buckley, if fit enough, starts this weekend. He is just what we need. He has pace and is a direct runner who will take players on and get crosses in. I believe he can make the difference and we will climb the table.

Would also be tempted for Buckley to take the place of Dallas and keep Botaka in the side and have a front three with Wood playing his usual role through the middle.
We HAVE to be more brave at home. Mot.

CORKWHITE

1.) 02 Oct 2015 04:48:51
It's not about bravery. It's about the pace we lack for a 433. 442 way to go but by all means get Buckley in team.

2.) 02 Oct 2015 22:46:42
George mate there would be plenty of pace with Buckley and Botaka out wide and supporting Wood. And with Cook breaking forward as he can, that's a fair bit of pace attacking.
Only problem with 442 is being overrun in centre midfield as most sides seem to play 433 or 451. Crisp passing is more important than out and out pace. Remember Tony Daley and our own Darren Huckerby?

3.) 04 Oct 2015 16:23:24
Cork

Indeed I do recall those players. I actually thought Huckerby did ok for us as a sub in last 20 minutes but yes not enough skill at top level. We are still talking championship though. Pace is good because it frightens and tires the opposition, draws fouls and can result in goals which is what the game is about. I believe we need to get back to basics instead of plying Loser's 433. It's stopping the flair and slowing us down. Mowatt case in point. If you concede playing 442 oh well but we are shipping goals anyway with no attacking intent. Rather see a game decided in a more old fashioned way so I see what these players can really do.

Heard a thing about Brayford from Derby could be on his way. A very good RB who like Byram can play in midfield. Would be a very good signing as he ticks all the boxes. Young, versatile, good attitude, and won't cost much. Just hope he's not replacing Byram! This more than a rumour by the way. Leeds are definitely making enquiries about the lad.

CORKWHITE

1.) I would happily have Brayford at Leeds, and push Byram to the RM.

I thought Brayford was going to Cardiff though?

2.) I've heard, if he moves, it'll be to Stoke!! for some reason, he's a fan!!

3.) Him and Hunt would be the only two rb's from this league I'd take. Still can't see Byram going this year though. Would annoy supporters too much and GFH will want to get supporters back this year, not drive more away

4.) Good to see were going in the right direction at last, can see us making a serious challenge this season.

5.) Where would that leave Peltier -a one-season 'wonder' again, as he was at Leicester? Wonder where the new manager stands on Peltier, a player around whom Warnock based all his defensive selections. Chapel A

10 Mar 2013 21:42:55
Most people saying Sam Byram player of the year. wouldn't totally disagree but for me Tom Lees is the man. He keeps getting better and better every game and is a future captain. Ask yourself who would we miss more for rest of season? Lees no doubt in my opinion. Not saying Sam isn't a class act but right now Lees is the main man a ER and for that reason is my player of the year. Actually nice to have two young english defenders of a certain class in our team. What odds of both one day playing for England? Barring injury I say its a certainty. Anyway roll on tuesday eve. and a good result. MOT.

CORKWHITE

1.) 11 Mar 2013 06:25:22
Lees is caught napping too many times this season and slightly out of position at times. Byram doesn't make many mistakes at all and without him we wouldn't of got half of the points we have got. Not only does byram defend very well he terrorises the opposition defence so by far the player of the season.

2.) Totally agree. 2 great players in the making and future england internationals.

3.) Lees has been outstanding since the Tate/Pearce partnership proved to be built on sand. I just hope Chris Hughton hasn't realised yet.

4.) Agree also about being future England Internationals, but let make sure they will be England internationals with us and not hijacked by current premier league clubs for peanuts. MOT.

5.) Unsung hero is our Tom. Although to say this is Byram's first season as a pro he ain't half done well!

6.) If Lees got injured Pearce could come in and do a good job as he was doing before he got sent off and lost his place.
If Byram got injured only choice is Peltier back to full back where he has struggled whilst looking a class act at centre back
That said rate both of them highly and both have every chance of becoming class acts just hope its with Leeds

7.) I think diouf has been quality aswell! Byram has been outstanding.

28 Feb 2013 08:46:34
Looks like we ain't getting anymore players in. Would of loved a pacy forward/winger even if just needed as an impact sub. Never mind I still think we got a 5 or 6/1 chance of top 6. I've had bigger winners than that this week alone! MOT.

CORKWHITE

1.) 28 Feb 2013 11:38:15
I think we found a winning formula and also our bench looks a bit better a lot of players who can make a massive impact. Just worrying if players like varney tonge and lees get injured because the replacements seem more impact than starters.

MOT onwards and upwards

Had a few know ok more than a few but what about Dave OLeary. No seriously. There's loads worse names in betting. Ok time to hit the wife. I mean sack.

CORKWHITE

1.) 27 May 2017 21:35:21
I have no words!

2.) 27 May 2017 21:42:04
If we must go back in time I'd prefer Gary Mac over Oleary.

3.) 27 May 2017 21:43:07
Shocking

4.) 27 May 2017 22:07:56
Or George go back for sgt wilko? !

5.) 27 May 2017 22:32:08
Is it the 1st of April?

6.) 28 May 2017 08:27:32
What about Dennis Wise. ?

7.) 28 May 2017 08:40:46
I know Aussie will fancy giving a guy called don revie a go

27 May 2017 20:54:31
A few lads mentioning Pep for the job. While I wouldn't say I'm totally against it, I really can't see why. No management experience. It's a big difference being an assistant as to being mansger. I also can't understand people now saying he was the brains behind the management team last season. On what basis? However nobody really knows how someone will perform until given a chance and maybe he will be the new David O'Leary. Did I really just say that.

CORKWHITE

1.) 27 May 2017 21:36:33
Cork why are you still defending monk! ?

2.) 27 May 2017 21:42:41
Prefer Beatts as manager Pep his number two.

3.) 27 May 2017 23:10:34
Totally agree cork

4.) 27 May 2017 23:16:03
Don't think I mentioned Monk. Would like to know the reason why he jumped ship though

5.) 28 May 2017 00:25:13
Agent will have had a offer from premier league I bet

6.) 28 May 2017 00:38:21
Pep wouldn't be offered Manager. we are looking for a coach so it doesn't matter if he has no Managerial experience. My fear is that it will take 'the new guy' 10 or 12 matches to groom his team. If we start with the same form as Monk did it will be an uphill battle to make the playoffs. I would like to see Pep being retained as head coach. Anyway whatever I will still back whoever is put in charge. MOT

7.) 28 May 2017 08:29:15
Fredh is it legal for a coach to 'groom' a load of young lads? I've been told I could get in a lot of trouble for that.

8.) 28 May 2017 09:11:38
Alf, Berm got away with it all these years.

9.) 29 May 2017 00:15:00
Ha Alf. yep foot in mouth again. I always get in trouble for saying the wrong thing but you know what I mean. MOT

18 May 2017 21:30:52
Some seem to forget we came 7th this season. No mean achievement. Monk imo was excellent in the transfer market and with four to five permanent buys at 15/20 million I believe the top two is there for us. It all depends on the takeover happening soon and Rad putting up the cash. A few loans and maybe one or two shrewd free transfers to flesh out the squad. It can be done under Monk because a new manager might put us back another year and I'm not getting any younger!

CORKWHITE

1.) 19 May 2017 00:23:23
Like you say, Monk knows his own squad and his fall backs this season will have a whole 4 months to be ironed out, ins and outs can be dealt with, we just have to trust in him for party mode come this time next year. It will be monk, he deserves it, no other manager does. Nobody else praises the fans and the players and the history of the club like him, please sign him before my birthday rads (18th june)

2.) 19 May 2017 07:48:56
There is absolutely no way at all monk will survive until christmas.

3.) 19 May 2017 13:43:07
Mine's on the 1st Samo :)

4.) 19 May 2017 21:09:52
Cork. For whatever reason. I don't think any of us will forget we finished 7th

18 May 2017 21:18:25
I think George is more or less right. However 11 buys is 5 or 6 too many. Hopefully 20 million on five new players and 4 or 5 good loanees as opposed to 20 million on 10 players is the way to go. That way we hopefully get in the extra quality needed with permanent players and bolster the squad at same time with a few loans.

CORKWHITE

1.) 19 May 2017 01:08:41
Thanks Corkie

2.) 19 May 2017 04:03:17
George didn't say 11 permanents, just 11 coming in. Now I think that's a few too many personally but 4 first teamers and 4 or 5 squad players isn't far wrong, especially when you take into account those leaving and the 3 or 4 that will be up for sale (Murphy, Dave, etc. ) . Strength and depth people, not either or.

3.) 19 May 2017 12:52:05
You are correct Gummie. 11 ins for me. The makeup if I was in charge would be 5 high quality permanents, 2 more of a gamble for the future permanents, 4 loanees as good quality as we could reasonably hope for. There's no need to overspend. Bartley must be the best loanee we ever had.

I'm still fairly pissed but I'm sure I saw a post from ole George. Welcome back georgy boy but why have you waited until everyone is rightly down? Answer please?

CORKWHITE

1.) 30 Apr 2017 21:53:52
it would seem to stick it to MC and Aus and say I told you so. but now he is leaving again until he can revel is leeds faliure again I am sure

2.) 01 May 2017 00:00:11
Corkie, me old mucker! Answer is because I could have come back about 5 weeks ago when we started losing and Curahee began to vex more than usual. I was tempted then but self-discipline kept me logged out. Perhaps the real truth is my long absence was for the Greater Game. Like what I did there, Berm? Berm should pen a play all about this site. Casting would be fun. Hope that answers your query Cork. Berm, I've heard very good things about Rad. I'm very confident for next season. No reason we can't aim for automatic.

3.) 01 May 2017 11:12:38
So the reason for your absence is me? Seems a bit of a cop answer that.

4.) 01 May 2017 12:17:39
Cool George. We've had a few ups and downs but welcome back none the less.

5.) 01 May 2017 12:21:19
Just to add George even though you've got on my thruppeny bits at times the site has missed your banter.

6.) 03 May 2017 14:57:01
Welcome back George. Good to see you're O.K.

What about keep Pontus and sign Flint? We need to keep our best players and not sell. Can't keep starting over with a whole new squad. If some are to believed Rad has a big transfer kitty waiting for whoever so we should supplementing not selling, with the obvious exception of Taylor.

Thanks Aus. Buts let's be honest that MC just got lucky with Monk, otherwise it would probably have been another rubbish season. And as for sticking up a statue, do me a favour! Any owner after them camel jockeys would have been an improvement and some have short memories. Cellini has treated staff appallingly in his short tenure and I wonder would he have as many supporters if we were fighting relegation once more. Ok he has drastically improved the clubs finances but he is a business man after all and he is about to make a tidy profit.
