Leif Davis to Liverpool wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd accept the 4m for him AND either Brewster or Woodburn on loan for a season.

First want to add thoughts to Alioski - like many here think he's given his all clearly for the club, great personality and he wasn't involved in the events back in the day. If he wants his likely last big move to be to Galatasaray then he can go with my blessing - he's earned it.

On the same note we're being linked with new full backs. I think this is an acknowledgement that A. Alioski is definitely leaving B. Bielsa now sees Dallas in CM. We need to save tbh if we can but with 9 odd games to go would love to see both Huggins and Leif Davis given fair shots to make the spot their own.

Likewise when/ if Paddy needs a rest sounds like Gelhardt is first choice backup now ahead of Greenwood. Give him a shot. Jamie Shack needs a few more chances too. Drameh at right back and even Charlie Cresswell at CB (personally think Casey won't make it here now see his level as peaking in CH but would love to be proved wrong) . Worth getting costa out of the side completely for Poveda/ Summerville or keep Costa in in the hope of boosting his value. Tough call.

Get rid of Costa asap. Waste of space.

2.) 26 Mar 2021 15:34:14
It's easy to say get rid but who to?

Costa, yes not performing for us at the moment, and we would be better with a step up in winger quality, but who is going to fork out a substantial transfer fee and his wages for a guy who has demonstrated that the PL is probably just too high for him

It's a similar scenario with Casilla. Who is going to pay his wages when he hadn't demonstrated any sustained quality for us?

For me the leavers are the obvious ones. Beradi (brilliant servant but we saw that the top end of the Championship was just too much for him) , Henandez (he deserves more game time and his first love will give him that chance) , and Alioski (again a brilliant servant but the defensive side of the game isn't his forté) .

3.) 26 Mar 2021 17:57:34
TBH, some players are so useless that Casilla we may have to accept a loss on to get him out, just be grateful for someone to take a portion of his wages for the rest of contract is better than nothing. We'll lose on Costa too obviously but he'd have some transfer value at least, not what we paid for him but something. Try and ship Costa to Middle East, USA or China, somewhere he can have a payday and look good and we can recoup something. Berardi and Alioski gone (thanks) . Hernandez has a yr left, so if he left he'd be taking a pay-off. Great servant if he's ready to go back to Spain let him. If he wants to stick around and be a veteran presence let him too (he won't play) .

I almost think Klich is suffering Bielsa 'burnout' and if we ever want to think about getting a fee for him summer might be the time, although i wouldn't shop him, just consider it if someone asked, although that puts a biggish hole in mid.

4.) 27 Mar 2021 03:23:35
Alioski looks like he is gone and I think Hernandez is an option to extend, so I don't think we will.
Bera also makes sense but he has been doing his badges while injured so maybe a player/ coach role? Makes sense for all unless he has a good first team offer.
Casilla will go, he joined us to play first team so a move back to Spain with a second level team makes sense.
Think Costa will go if we receive a half decent offer, won't make our money back but a champ club will probably pay £8-9m.
Got to think Forshaw and De Bock will go plus Bouy and O'Kane will finally be off the wage books. Should all free up some funds but decent amount of rebuilding/ improvements even if a few of the youngsters move up to first team training.

5.) 27 Mar 2021 10:50:48
We need to find someone as desperate as we were and shift Costa on a similar deal - loan to buy - or just loan him out. He's great on his day but sadly his day is only once every 12 games.

6.) 27 Mar 2021 13:06:45
Costa will extremely likely still be at Leeds next season and Bielsa seems to rate him.

If he got stronger physically muscled up in the gym he could be an asset at least coming on from the bench as be has talent and some end product.

The worst ever Orta signing Kiko still has a ridiculous 2 further years of his contract in £40K. a week; unless Leeds pay him off he will be here next season too.

7.) 27 Mar 2021 15:57:01
BV, slightly disagree.

Although I am not the biggest fan of Casilla I thought, and still do, it was a brilliant piece of business

Firstly it was a free transfer. Yes I know his wages were steep but our aim was to get in to the Premier League and his wages are on par with what Peacock-Farrell is picking up now. He didn't get an increase after promotion.

Next, he was from Real Madrid! Can you imagine what sort of sign that gave to the players already there. Leeds are serious. They are buying from the top table. They are buying a Champions League winner. A Spanish international.

Lastly, I touched on it earlier, experience. Here comes a guy who is a winner. Knows how to act like a winner. Train like a winner. Has higher expectations of his team mates. We have no idea how he changed the dressing room but I know I always tried to emulate those who were better than me.

I personally think Casilla was a brilliant signing. Not for his work on the pitch but how he demonstrated what WILL be expected of every player.

8.) 27 Mar 2021 16:20:47
Axe as ever respect and admire your half glass full outlook, most sincerely 👍

What I would say is that if Kiko truly is on 40 K a week

a 4 and a half year contract equates to over £ 9million in salary.

That is a hell of a lot of money for any club to pay for a so called role model off the pitch but who contributes little to nothing himself on the pitch.

And is he really a ' winner '?

that is really debatable as in reality he watched other players be 'winners ' from the bench.

9.) 27 Mar 2021 18:45:47
Even though the club was Real Madrid I very much doubt any players would have been impressed at the acquisition of a professional bench warmer. Maybe if he'd actually managed to play for anyone's first team.
Casilla an awful signing but I think JKA is the worst for Orta. Mind you there are plenty to choose from.

We didn't get the luck today, yes we defended poorly for the goals but pieces of brilliant goalkeeping, and luck for everton denied us not even a point but actually all three. Alioski wasn't far away from a goal of the season contender, Bamford hit the bar too and Olsen was immense. Pablo nearly worked some magic with that one pass that Bamford couldn't quite bring under his spell (although Pablo also gave the ball away twice that everton could have broken and scored) . Credit everton for the vision of signing a decent backup keeper (wish we had that idea) .

Once again brilliant football. Some pundits saying Bielsa could never bring European football to Elland Road playing this way. I say he was arguably Robin Koch and Diego Llorente away from doing it THIS season, although injuries are part and parcel of our game.

Have to say, squad all round deserved huge praise today,

Dallas - sneaky how he has 4 goals this season now. Incredible to say consider him a £25m + player in the current environment. If he chips in with more than 5 I'll run out superlatives.

Bamford - what else can I say apart from he's my favourite Leeds striker in my 26 years moving ever so slightly above Becchio/ Beckford (too young to properly remember Viduka) etc. The transformation from the embarrassment of Villa in the championship (a low point for me) has been incredible.

Struijk - much maligned from me if you read my posts, and questioned if he has prem capabilities. This game and Burnley he's been invaluable so huge well done from me for today. Reassert don't think a starter but starting to view him as less of a liability if these types of performances continue.

Klich - started to look closer to his old industrious combative self, and don't mind actually he picked up a yellow, putting himself about. don't think he's all the way the back yet but today was much, much better.

Meslier - one pretty good save in the first half, and quite a few fairly easy saves from distance. That being said Casilla I'dve had my heart in my mouth on all of them. Not the case for Meslier who I trust. Think he could have claimed the corner rather than punch only minor thing.

Raphinha - 17M was it? Steal of our transfer window. Really growing into the creative fulcrum of the team with his passing and shooting. I think last game he was developing a good understanding with Rodrigo (obviously cut a bit short today) but that looks promising.

Harrison a bit quiet apart from his solid shot in the first half, but still had the energy to support Bamford for that killer goal late on and finish.

Ayling, Phillips, and Alioski too were all very good.

Just need spurs to win later and it's been a fantastic weekend results wise.

2.) 31 Jan 2021 22:34:06
How bad were Spurs tonight?

3.) 31 Jan 2021 23:04:10
Feath, absolutely shocking! I was hoping for a draw, but spurs could have been playing till next month and never scored, certainly won't finish top 6 playing like, absolutely devoid of ideas.

4.) 01 Feb 2021 07:27:22
Ealing, give Struick a bit of time. He has gone from under 23s to premiership with only a few champ games and being played in different positions. If you want the youngsters to play he has to get experience. Been a great year for him, hard worker and always wants to learn, Bielsa will like him.

18 Jan 2021 18:02:47
I think Klich needs to prove himself - had hoped with being rested for the cup game he'd be back to his best - not the case. Extended break before the next game after the Southampton rearrangement gives him a chance to get back.

I also think Struijk just isn't ready at best and will never be good enough for Prem at worst. Accept he probably only plays because we've had Koch, Llorente, Cooper and Phillips out concurrently and for various reasons. My hope is that Llorente gets the nod for Southampton and can finally give us a run of games. Shackleton i think we should convert fully to full back - i think his energy lends himself to more natural play than try to compete in cm. Would love an experienced cm just to add an extra body in that midfield as Forshaw (who I still like and rated both for us and when he was at Brentford near me) is sadly finished for us i think.

EalingBkb

1.) 18 Jan 2021 18:36:36
Struijk was never supposed to be thrust into this role this season. He would have been backup for Philips and a CB 4th choice but fair play to him he has done well.

03 Oct 2020 15:34:27
If we sign Cantwell for reputed £15m it sounds like good business to me. Radz said we had 35-50m to spend would leave a minimum of 20m (unless above counted for wage as well as fee) . This would work well for another go at Kent/ Benrahma/ Wilson/ James. Don't personally want wilson or James, Kent would be top of my list followed by Benhrahma still.

1.) 03 Oct 2020 18:21:56
He looks like he would be a really astute investment. Two great feet, lovely touch, and good vision with a turn of pace. I’d love to get him instead of Dan Bloody James!

would also say, Poveda looks promising yet still needs to take a big step to be truly useful. Drameh and Summerville have earned the chance to have a go in the first team I hope before the end of the season but have proved nothing yet i sincerely hope they do in some (hopefully) dead rubbers.

i read somewhere he is on 50K a week, not sure how much i trust the source admittedly. His age for me isn't such a problem. He strikes me as someone who maybe his pace has or will go a little but will bust a gut and has experience playing for big teams in a high-pressure environment. Not like the last guy we signed from Madrid who basically sat on their bench for ages, this guy actually plays and if he gets a solid 3-4 yr deal to take him to 33 yrs good stuff. Free agent too means i'm not so annoyed about signing him with decreasing sell-on value based on age.

Costa not worth £16m - yet. But Jack Harrison (JH) wasnt worth 8m a year ago and now he's very good value on that - could be a bargain with more improvement.

If Costa applies himself like JH in terms of attitude and work rate i think he has a higher ceiling than JH and maybe that second season with Bielsa is what he needs. Or he could turn into a dud but i hope not.

Regarding the £16m i think its an instalments thing ('loan' intially) but think we probably paid first instalment a while back to stay right with FFP rules. Meslier, and JH to come in permanently next - Meslier is bags of potential and some great games (arsenal) but isn't quite finished article yet but 5M is a steal for him. 2 new cbs needed (if we can't get White back) . And a striker if we can get out of the Augustin farce. Eduoard would do very nicely.

Personally I want to see more of Gotts, Shackleton Mccalmont, and Davis. If we finish the job and go up either they stay and hopefully get a long run in cups (wishful thinking) or sort them a Ch loan. Shacks probably closest to fringes of first team so might stay.

I wouldn't want him, don't think he is a premier league striker. Would rather we trusted Nketiah and Edmondson than spend heavily on Vydra, unless someone truly proven in the prem or much younger wit more potential than Vydra. His attitude when we tried to sign him initially doesn't endear him to me either.

Can't accept less than £5m for him (hopefully closer to something like 6.5M) . He's another on a decent wage (though not top bracket) that hasn't earned it as of yet (tho haven't given up on him like I have some others just yet) .

Sell for the price then get Luca Connell in from Bolton for little more than a tribunal fee it sounds. That would be excellent business and leave plenty left over for new wingers/ cb/ new contracts.

i said similar a few days ago, I think it boils down to a few things. A. Does that 60m and James bid come in. B. Does Raphinha get his head turned truly? If he does then he does have to go. If he's a pro and rolls with either situation would absolutely not mind him staying in the slightest even if fairly big money came in.

Lets say that gives 60m + whatever investment radz and 49ers want to add to that for transfers and wages. Try and sell Costa and Roberts (think if we got between 15-20m combined for the pair good business) , Alioski to be released (thanks for the good games and battling qualities/ madness Alioski) . New five year contract for Meslier (he's already down to a two year deal) . Casilla out (any takers) . Bring in an experienced prem keeper as back up. Romero, Adrian and Begovic all out of contract as things stand.

New natural left back (Douglas will also officially expire although he's been at Blackburn really) . Huggins is clearly rated came on vs arsenal and didn't look bad, needs more exposure tho, don't think he's likely to make lb his own but could be surprised. Maybe Antonee Robinson if Fulham go down. Rb i think is sorted with Ayling (expect Drameh to get some games near end of the season, see how near he is, expect him to be main rb backup next season) . Leif Davis? either give him an extended run or cut him.

Mid is a hard one, feel we could use two, to backup Phillips role and to replace Pablo role. Like Drameh situ would really like to see if by some dead rubbers we can solve one in house (Jenkins, Shackleton, etc) We'll also have the likes of Mccalmont, Gotts, and Bogusz to evaluate on return from loans (admittedly doesn't sound like they've made big steps but you never know) . Feel, we'll sign at least one cdm (would like White for the right price) or cam.

Wing James might come in if raph goes although if as I hope we sell costa we could be a bit thin (Poveda/ Summerville I hope to get some chances in end of season) . If not up to it a big, big fan of Ryan Kent. Any money spent has to account for making Jack's deal permanent too.

Forwards, Paddy. stays. Gelhardt and Greenwood need a chance somewhere end of this season to prove they might be adequate backups next year (we've actually been rather fortunate Paddy misses so few games, doesn't get talked about enough) . I think Edmondson sadly looks like he won't make it after initially promising. Feel ultimately we should be looking for something here too.

Ideally/ Likely out: Casilla, Alioski, Douglas, O'Kane, Roberts, Costa, Bouy, Berardi (thanks bera)

Maybe: Raph, for a very big bid.

In Ideally: Prem experienced backup keeper, natural leftback. CDM and/ or CAM. James in Raph part exchange only situ, Another winger if sells costa. Backup striker.

contracts: new deal for Meslier i feel is a must.

As much as I love Raphinha (and i do) every player has a price (Billy Beane always said know exactly what every player is worth to you with a £/ $ sign) .

If its United I wonder if people would take 60m and Dan James for Raphinha in the summer. It has to be the right deal for Leeds but equally some players get their heads turned, not saying Raph will definitely but it might happen. Bielsa has always been keen on James. Alternatively 80m ish million for Raph independently and then go for Ryan Kent, although if Rangers make Champions League main rounds might be difficult to take him from that.

I'm sure Victor and Marcelo are planning for this. In an ideal world we keep Raph but its always prudent to plan for the worst. Backup keeper a must in the summer for me Tom Heaton has been dislodged by Martinez and if he's healthy would be a nice keeper with Prem knowhow to ably challenge mentor and backup Meslier for me.

a left back is a desirable signing too. Even if i feel Alioski deserves a new deal, if we have ambitions of pushing for something like top half next season feel we need a better option. Dallas obviously is very strong there too (where isn't he useful that lad) .

Despite improvements recently from both I feel Costa and Roberts flatter to deceive at this level. Although let me also say i would love them to prove me wrong in what remains this season. So a striker who can backup Bamford if he gets inj or loses form, and a replacement for Pablo.

Some opportunism too, as if the likes of Newcastle or Brighton are overhauled by Fulham (unlikely) , we should definitely be looking into the likes of Callum Wilson, Saint-Maximin, Alex McAllister and Ben White. Sander Berge or Connor Gallagher I quite like too.

GK, LB, STK, CAM, if raph leaves a replacement for him too.

As a keeper when i was growing up I really feel for Meslier today - and you know what, right now i back him completely, not just because the only other option is Casilla, but because Meslier has done more than enough to merit backing after a game where he made glaring mistakes.

Its not the first time he's made mistakes, but certainly I feel where he made mistakes that lost us the match directly. It happens. The best leeds keeper i remember (just) Nigel, made mistakes. It's about how he responds to that poor 30 minute spell. Second half a small sample size but he made two saves.

20 yrs old - chalk this down to a learning curve and keen to see how he responds to it vs. Wolves. He's among the most saves away from home in Prem i think this season (if not still the top) has kept a solid amount of clean sheets this season too. If you look at clean sheets this season (palace, Burnley, Arsenal, Everton, Villa, Sheffield United, Brom) he's been a big part of most of those, even with a bit of luck vs, Burnley and nothing much to do vs. Palace.

Little note, for Huggins, Costa and Roberts, maybe Arsenal took their foot off the gas at 4-0 but credit to all of them their roles, and lovely to sell Pascal break the duck with a header that Dom Matteo would have been proud of.
