Leif Davis to Liverpool wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd accept the 4m for him AND either Brewster or Woodburn on loan for a season.

Haven't seen much of the Wednesday game but disappointed naturally.

Obviously need a striker that can finish with a little more strength than Eddie had. Why Ryan doesn't get a look in I never know.

One of the main issues i hope might be solved soon is that Shackleton clearly looks close to full fitness again if he's making the bench. Hopefully Bub starts him soon as he did last season, and this will allow Dallas back to full back. I've given up on Forshaw perenially injured which is a shame because a valuable player on his day.

Klich i feel needs a rest simply played too many games and I feel this has impacted on his goal tally simply doesn't have the energy to get forward quickly anymore.

I'd love to see Meslier start more games too.

The problem is that the club are relying on a small squad with injury prone players. Forshaw has made 49 appearances for the club in 2 years, Roberts has made 38 appearances in 2 years. During that time they have contributed 4 goals and 6 assists. We need additional players who can share the load because those coming back from injury (again) are not cutting it. The club is gambling on promotion by relying upon what we have got and hoping Bielsa will get us across the line.

2.) 12 Jan 2020 15:40:05
F-ing he'll notts great knowledge, and what frightening stats on Forshaw + Roberts!
If Radz refuses to spend in the next fortnight and we don't go up I think that his days will be numbered here . He will have that clown Kinnear come out and tell us all again that the future is Rosy and we are stronger for the experience .

This will all happen about 2 weeks before season ticks go on sale .

Go figure.

3.) 12 Jan 2020 17:07:41
Chris his days have be number long a go just he sticking around likes bad smell.

4.) 12 Jan 2020 17:21:05
Trouble is Notts, history tells us that for MB to get us "across the line" then we need a strong following wind and a dose of good luck.

What I don't get is how we can't afford to give Phillips a new deal in the 35-40k range, especially after we sold Saiz for 2.5m That equates to nearly 50K a week for a year, and that's without including Saiz's wages. Imagine he was on around 15-20K a week.

The 2.5m (and extra wage flexibility) should be used to give Phillips his new deal, and start talks with Shackleton and Bogusz about extending their deals.

I've said before that a director of football's job includes not only getting the right players in, but getting the right deals with players leaving. Orta has definitely failed on the latter.

No real movement for O'kane, Anita's Greece move stalling, and de Bock isn't generating much interest. These three are probably on 45K combined. Have to accept and hopefully shed 25K of that, would be huge.

maybe the powers that be don't think he deserves it? or they are just tight and milking us

i hate phillips but think they should sell or get a new deal done

i think they will play the. he didn't sign a deal so we sold him for 11 mill plus chester. what can we do he wouldn't sign

i personally would love that but don't agree with the way they have gone about it if that makes sense. its all a bit worrying.

I haven't seen a lot of him but seems highly rated, and we can sign him very cheaply indeed - Luca Connell?

Does anyone know much about him? Not necessarily in a position we need to strengthen most urgently but the price and the potential looks like its worth it to me.

EalingBkb

1.) 12 Jun 2019 20:50:52
He's rated rather highly in Ireland.

2.) 12 Jun 2019 20:51:16
Potentially, one for the future?

3.) 13 Jun 2019 06:25:12
Possibly going too Celtic now.

11 Jun 2019 12:03:26
It looks like we dodged a bullet with Abel Hernandez last summer, spent most of the season with CSKA injured, contract mutually terminated. Although we did get Bamford instead (and spent 7m on him ) .

EalingBkb

1.) 11 Jun 2019 17:39:52
Free transfer?

May be he will get reasonable about wage demands this time round.

A fit Henandez would have put quite a few of those missed chances away.

11 Jun 2019 11:59:52
The problem with operating predominantly in the loan market is that it is not conducive to signing players early in the window.

Example Wolves and our interest in Costa and Cavaleiro. Both are for sale more than loan. Means they are more likely to wait and see over the course of the window if any clubs will make permanent offers - even if no interest now situations can change quickly.

I hope i'm wrong but means that players we might get on loan in the category of experienced quality won't happen until late in the window despite Bielsa's desire to work with them in pre season. Expecting this to drag on unfortunately.

I wouldn't want him, don't think he is a premier league striker. Would rather we trusted Nketiah and Edmondson than spend heavily on Vydra, unless someone truly proven in the prem or much younger wit more potential than Vydra. His attitude when we tried to sign him initially doesn't endear him to me either.

Can't accept less than £5m for him (hopefully closer to something like 6.5M) . He's another on a decent wage (though not top bracket) that hasn't earned it as of yet (tho haven't given up on him like I have some others just yet) .

Sell for the price then get Luca Connell in from Bolton for little more than a tribunal fee it sounds. That would be excellent business and leave plenty left over for new wingers/ cb/ new contracts.

I can see both viewpoints. He can certainly score when given the chance to play up top. However he is injury prone, and I question whether he is worth 30K a week. If we give him that kind of money then Bamford, Casilla, Roofe and even o'Kane together cost more than 100K a week! .

The problem is right now that Bamford is on far more than Roofe, and Roofe is perfectly right to say hang on I'm worth far more than him. I don't know if that works for us. Discussing talks but also letting it be known he is available for the right price (and only the right price mind) is the way to go (my feeling that would be 10m) .

I'd be more agreeable to the new deal if i knew for sure we were offsetting Casilla's wage.

£20m for a young player with flashes of talent but not proven consistently is good business. Indeed, in games when he came back late in the season looked ineffective at times.

If it happens tho, Radz needs to notably adapt his 'loans and free agents only' mantra. That won't fly following (if this goes through) the club's second biggest transfer fee after Rio. Don't expect or want to break the bank, however especially don't want to see 1 yr loans bust this hopeful investment on a 1 yr promotion folly if we don't make it.

CB possibly Ben White (buy now not loan) Costa (buy) a second winger maybe Harrison given how much Bielsa seems to rate him (buy) and a central attacking playmaker with a killer pass to replace what we lost from Saiz leaving.

Sell, loan or in must desperate mutually terminate those doing nothing for the club (Ideguichi - looks nearly done - Saiz, Sacko, Cibicki, O'Kane, Anita, De Bock) . Jury out on if Casilla is leaving or not.

Use that to give new contracts to those deserving of them Roofe springs to mind (and purchase a new keeper if we do indeed sell Casilla) = fair.

It's a decent sign, Bielsa has a history of leaving if he doesn't get what he feels he needs. Radz must have given him certain assurances. Need to get a move on though, particularly in the free agent market. Radz says loans or quality free agents. The quality free agents will be snapped up soon.

Like him a lot was linked with Chelsea and Monaco not too long ago, the option to buy must be exercised, lot of sentiments above i agree with, excellent with the ball at his feet, lovely distribution and gets down very quickly for 6'5. His height would be a bonus in situations like West brom- would surely have come and claimed the ball for their goal.

If Kiko gets a ban deserves the shot to start over the minimum 6 games, don't need to go out and get someone else to cover.

I'd add shane Higgs to that list. Lonergan actually was fairly decent in his first spell.

I'm not terribly worried yet. The main reason is that Bielsa won't take any nonsense from anyone (judging how he has unceremoniously left other clubs) .

It sounds like he has a meeting, tells ownership what he needs to get the job done if they want him to stay they deliver.

The one worry for me is that he will have given them a deadline - could be first day of pre-season could be last, doesn't matter to him, he will leave if they don't fulfill their end. He did a great job last year with a not-so-different squad from Christensen/ Heckingbottom. Yet the Championship was a huge learning curve still and he will know this and won't have been shy in what improvements in the squad and club he asked for to be competitive.

Interesting site priceoffootball has what looks like pretty well researched accounts on a number of teams (including us) . Useful idea to get a picture of where we stand, just found it the other day.

Radz is smart enough (I think) to value Clarke accurately (20m) , particularly if he stands to benefit most from the deal. That being said, I don't think that we will ever see the 20M up front. A deal will likely be something as little as 6-8M up front, another 4-5m in guaranteed installments, and the rest as performance related bonuses. That's how deals like this are typically negotiated, and in part what possible led to the collapse of the Daniel James deal.

Levy is a notorious negotiator, and the contract situation is not quite as dire as losing full value. Therefore, no way should we be settling certainly for anything less than the Dan James to United deal.
