After watching the Lufctv vid interview of Bamford I have to say I'm really excited by Harrison. Bamford made all the right noises but Harrison looked lightning in comparison during the bleep test bit, if he can cross/ score too we will be laughing.

Vydra deal maybe not dead yet. Pics appearing on Twitter of him (or his doppleganger) in Leeds city centre. When asked by the guy who took the pics he supposedly confirmed his identity. Asked if he was signing for Leeds he said 'not yet' so maybe in town to re-discuss terms? pic sent to sightings page.

Gummie

1.) 27 Jul 2018 03:37:56
We are not signing anyone who knows how to score. Probably "own goal" will be our top scorer this season.

2.) 27 Jul 2018 09:28:43
would he have been better off discussing terms at ER or Thorpe Arch? unlikely to get a deal done in the Trinity Centre is he?

3.) 27 Jul 2018 11:28:10
Was there a sale on?

4.) 27 Jul 2018 14:15:08
yes it was the House of Fraser blue cross sale. was really good if you missed it. I got a nice blind for my back bedroom (not a euphemism btw)

Worried about it when we didn't sign another senior CB but just when I started to believe TC had fixed him calamity Cooper returns at the worst possible time. At fault for goals 1 and 2 for me and then to escape a straight red only to go in like that? We didn't play our best but one man cost us the game, can't have a captain that looses all sense like he did tonight.

Gummie

1.) 26 Sep 2017 23:21:18
It keeps creeping back into his game. I like nessy there as he listens to the Senior players around him and grafts but uses his brain and don't make eratic decisions

2.) 27 Sep 2017 00:21:30
Agree Martyn, Pennington will almost certainly start the next game but starting to wonder if Jansson Shaughnessy might well be our best pairing going forward unless we pick up someone out of the free market, he doesn't seem to panic or do anything stupid.

Orta teasing 'We are near to signing a big surprise from Asia'. Now under the last few regimes I would have got all worked up and it would turn out that we where opening a Panda Express in the food court. Under current management however I feel like a kid at Christmas with the excitement. Player or sponsor? what do people think?

Gummie

1.) 05 Sep 2017 10:45:15
Free agent for the U23 side I think. Or it's a new sponsor. Orrr, we have sold a player for 75m to a Chinese team

2.) 05 Sep 2017 12:00:12
Can we even sign players outside of the transfer window or would this only apply to free agents? MM

3.) 05 Sep 2017 12:18:14
Free curries for all west stand season ticket holders, fact

4.) 05 Sep 2017 12:42:48
Only free agents MM (Dont know if anyone follows the Chinese Lg and knows if any big name is recently out of contract? ) , that said we could "sign" someone in the sense of putting a deal in place for January rather than a player for straight away. A youngster could be right EG especially since we just hired a head of development, or whatever it was, for Asia. Maybe set to sign the next big player from Japan or some such. All that said I wouldn't mind a big fat sponsorship out of China, would be great to bring in all these players and still turn a decent profit for the season, get the club back on the financial footing it once had.

5.) 05 Sep 2017 13:43:54
Can't sign players till January but can agree to sign players. I think it'll be the 'next big thing' from China or Japan. As much as I would love a big sponsorship deal from the wealth of China it could also be a agreement with another club in Asia, like what we have with the second division Spanish team.

6.) 05 Sep 2017 14:07:45
Jackson Martinez is a free agent and was just playing in China 😅

7.) 05 Sep 2017 15:03:22
Is tevez a free agent?

8.) 05 Sep 2017 15:27:08
I would suspect a sponsorship deal. Hate it when clubs announce sponsorship deals as 'signings'.

Second bid of £16m put in for Wood from a different Prem team (unnamed) , also knocked back. I mean if we do accept £20m for him Sheff are looking to offload Rhodes. £7m-8m for him with £13m in change might not be the worst bit of business ever as much as I'd like him to stay.

Gummie

1.) 12 Aug 2017 02:18:11
I'd 100% rather 16 mil change and Lasogga!

2.) 12 Aug 2017 04:22:48
No to rhodes.

3.) 12 Aug 2017 10:57:55
It's a no for Rhodes from me as well. If he isn't cutting it at Weds, then why would we expect him to do what we know Wood can do ! . He wouldn't get 20+ goals a season. If we do sell Wood for £18m, then I suggest we spend all of it on another sure fire goal scorer from somewhere, and not necessarily British as they are all over priced!

4.) 12 Aug 2017 11:04:43
Lasogga worries me a bit, he has averaged a goal every 3.35 games throughout his whole career, especially with his reported wage too! However his fifa 17 rating is alright ;) .

5.) 12 Aug 2017 12:02:30
That's good, Fifa never lie so he must be a good un

6.) 12 Aug 2017 13:43:13
Rhodes won't score 20 a season? He is one of the most consistent scorers at this level. hasn't worked out for him at Weds but he had been sat on a bench for 6 months at Middlesbrough. 19, 16, 37, 28, 25, 21, 16 are his goal tallies for the 7 seasons before, the ones with less than 20 goals he missed a handful of games. If we can get him for less that £10m when teams are paying £15m for 15 goal a season players its a no brainer.

7.) 12 Aug 2017 14:15:23
Rhodes for 2mil. Worth a gamble

8.) 12 Aug 2017 19:39:46
yes to Rhodes but also keep Wood.

9.) 12 Aug 2017 22:07:02
No sale Woods is in for the long haul From now on, we are not a selling club unless it's fringe players

10.) 12 Aug 2017 23:02:48
Every club apart from the 2 clubs wrong side of Pennines, those 2 minnow clubs from Spain and PSG who appear to have more money than the richest man in the world are selling clubs. Even if you sell at right price you're a selling club.

11.) 12 Aug 2017 23:08:34
Where we're going, we don't need Rhodes 😄

Gianni set to get a new contract, good news as far as I'm concerned. Not our strongest player by a way but versatile as all hell, runs himself (and everyone else on the pitch) into the ground and seems a big personality within the squad.

Gummie

1.) 25 Oct 2020 06:14:52
Agree gummie. His attitude and energy are brilliant.

2.) 25 Oct 2020 13:19:15
Well deserved Gianni.

Just like to say, huge props to Bamford. Roofe has admitted that his current form comes off the back of a conversation with Bamford and the good advice receive. Nice to see he is an actual team player and not hoping his counterpart fails so he can get into the starting 11. or just a really lazy, crafty SoB that doesn't want to be a starter. Either way it got Roofe playing so I'm cool with it.

Gummie

1.) 20 Aug 2018 10:06:16
Gummie Bamford shall eventually get his time in the sun. Meanwhile, the Roofe is on 🔥🔥.

2.) 20 Aug 2018 14:18:18
we will need both of them to be on form to see a successful season out.

3.) 20 Aug 2018 15:42:52
Bambam, "SIDE BEFORE SELF" good lad :)

Just a thought, suggested this when we had the defender crisis last year, if we are getting over run in the middle and people want an extra forward on to take the pressure off Lassoga would it be worth trying a game as a 3-5-2? Thinking - Cooper (CB) , Jansson (CB) , Pennington (CB) , Dallas (LM) , O'Kane (CM) , Shaunessy (DM) , Philips (CM) , Ayling (RM) , Lassoga (ST) , Saiz (ST) . Dallas and Ayling both have the stamina to get back into a wing-back role if the Opposition pushes or forward into a Winger role if we are in control with Shaunessy (or Anita) giving the CM the bite its been lacking, only takes 1 sub to go back to our preferred shape if it doesn't work out too.

Gummie

1.) 10 Oct 2017 16:24:55
Can't see much wrong with that lineup, but then neither can I find fault with any of the other permutations. Perhaps that's part of the problem. We have not gained the consistency which points to a first eleven. Non of us seem agreed on the first eleven (except for GK) and I think neither does anyone at Elland Road.

2.) 10 Oct 2017 16:30:56
TBH I think it's hard to drop the lights of Saiz, Hernandez, alioski and Roofe, but if u get them in there we have a winner.

3.) 10 Oct 2017 20:14:08
Actually think TC has started our best 11 (when fit) most games leodis but you have to pick the team for the game sometimes and the formation. For instance I would keep Alioski and Hernandez in for a 4-2-3-1 Delboy but Hernandez just doesn't fit into a 3-5-2 and I prefer Aylings physicality and work rate over Alioski in that setup.

4.) 11 Oct 2017 19:33:55
I think O'Kane should be given a rest, to let his cracked ribs heal. Bring Viera in for Saturday and see how he gets on

First one of the day, how many more? Lassogga should be next, but will there be any surprises?

2.) 31 Aug 2017 12:11:22
Lasogga should be done soon as long as we can sort the remaining paperwork. Would like to see another CB just in case the mistakes start to creep back into Coopers game but not essential.

Simple facts are that our CB's have played better when partnered with people other than coops. League 1 Liam is harsh, he is Champ standard. Always preferred calamity Cooper because he makes silly mistakes. Pontus + White would have been even better last year imo much like pontus + Bartley (white + Berra looked better too) .
As for the Pablo situation big difference is he was frustrated but he didn't go against Bieslas instructions. He got a public reprimand and apologised, hopefully end of.

70+ would almost certainly put us in 3rd, we are not finishing that high in our first season back bud. As i said 49 might be slightly pessimistic but we will have some rough patches, as we did last season, and some of the teams towards the bottom will park the bus and cost us points. 49 pts would constitute a fantastic season and a great place to kick on from. We are currently only 1pt better than I had us so far tbf George but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Looks to have great control and a good awareness of the players around him. Has been compared to Modric too. Could be a fantastic signing but I really hope it's a loan to buy if it happens as he isn't playing in the strongest league so could flatter to deceive (remember when Antonsen looked a goalscoring God till he moved to england) . Also only seems to score pens, so who is he looking to replace? Not defensive enough to be Kalvin but doesn't score enough to be a Klich replacement (which I'm guessing is Ralph mid term and Bogusz long term) .

At the beginning of the season I went through all the games and guessed at an optimistic (or so it seemed at the time) 44 pts. After our start, everyone's signings and injuries, I think (a slightly pessimistic) 49 will be pretty close. As a result I think Europe might be a little too far, historically that would put us 11th-13th ish. That said first hurdle is 36 pts, drop that relegation threat then anything else is gravy. Hope the squad prove me wrong but I'm ok with a first year to establish followed by a second year attack on the top half.

Didn't we go to a back 3 of Ayling, coops and Dallas at some point in a match last season? Same thing but with Koch instead of coops and have Harrison and Costa drop to inverted wing backs? Not the most solid looking defence but with Struik dropping into a back 4 when we lose the ball it could work.

Top 10 in goals scored, bottom 3 in conceded. Think people need to worry less about xG and more about the other end of the pitch. Joke used to be that Beckford took 30 shots for every goal but nobody cared because he scored 1 in 2. Hopefully Philips been back and Llorente once fit shores us up then those misses will look a lot less harmful.

Bamford is in a purple patch but he is highly unlikely to hit 20+. Last season that would have put you 4th in the scoring charts above Kane, Salah, Mane, etc. for none top 6 team strikers 14 is a pretty good return. That's around 7 more with 29 to go, hopefully some of the others are going to pick up that slack. Not expecting many from Rodrigo in his current role so Klich, Harrison, Raphiniha and Costa need to start finding the back of the net and soon (an Ayling worldie or two wouldn't be unappreciated either) .

Let's not panic about the front line just yet, have only failed to score twice this season and it was our first 0-0 for 2 years. Leno made a couple of fantastic saves and give or take a couple of inches it could have been 3-0. Your always going to drop points you should win occasionally and I'd rather it be against Arsenal than a Fulham or a Brom. Play like we did and we will score most games this season.

Guessing you mean my comment not berms Canada. Basically Bielsa has only stayed at most clubs 1 season, some he has lasted 2 seasons. At 2 and a bit we represent his longest club reign. That means our players (the ones he started the job with anyway) have had more benefit from his tactics and training than anyone else.

Bielsa has two plans, Plan A then Plan B (do plan A better) . It's not about the plan really though, the mentality and fitness is where a team lives and/ or dies under him. Most players get a year, some 2 under his system, the guys around since the start are the fittest and most dynamic in the league if not world football. Will take us far.
