Bermo did you ever predict Calzaghe would get beat? Just interested as I follow a bit of boxing myself and think he was the best British boxer we have ever had. Mate of mine thought Froch would have done him. I don't think he would have got close.

Josh Warrington! Now that lad is going to take some beating.

How are we all?
I am being blonde (Well I am blonde slightly with a little grey now showing at the sideburns. How, and why does that happen? ) I got caught up in family since back so missed - or rather can't find my post and comments on any I may or may not have done.

I'm going to predict and be the next Bermo because I did say Ben White would get looked at by a top side. See that is what the banter is all about and we seem to tend to forget.

Hope everyone is well.
I see no changes to the side for the Brum. Same as. I only hope Bam scores a brace and silences a few or I will feel sorry for him because as hard as he is working, and the job he is doing that is being asked of him; the one job we need doing is the ball hitting the back of the net. Right now I would rather a chance fall to someone else with an open net because they are more likely to put it in.

But. But! I remember the frustration over Chapman. Lazy. Same with Chris Wood. I actually said Roofe was by far better in the air than Wood. I'm not paid near what Bielsa is. I don't see them in training. If any of us did then we could joint manage/ coach Leeds to a league title and Champions League.

Bring on the Brums. let's have a good weekend. With the weather I got welcomed to, I want a sunny weekend.

many challenging for the orical title. i always backed wood depspite the barrage of ciritisim. he was class before he come to leeds and did well after. the Cockeny oricle is the original and will take some beating Malta!

2.) 18 Oct 2019 11:24:32
Bermo

Agree with you on Wood. I always thought he did his best for us

Played lone striker for us and scored a bagful. At 6ft 3, having to run both channels as well as the middle. Having to hold up the football until our pedestrian midfield caught up. The guy was a proper centre forward.

Bermo can only be an Oracle when he predicts a specific action or event. He can't just spout generic stuff and claim it for himself

Bermo,
Predict LUFC player of the season 2020-21.
And predict our top assist man for 2020-21.
I will note them both down and if you are correct I will then buy you 4 pints before every home game, in the Peacock, in season 2021-22.

3.) 18 Oct 2019 11:58:18
Wood was crap for a long while and then came good just long enough to land us a pretty penny.
Bamford is crap and will lose us money.
Cani have a go at this prediction.
White player of season if he stays long enough if not Phillips.
Top assist eeerrrrrrrr. Hernandez.

4.) 18 Oct 2019 12:15:15
axe my oricalness is tounge in cheek but i do think i am good at spotting patterns of play to predict long term future. i would suggest this is fairly easy but many berate my views only to agree with them in time

i saw wood be good before he come. he joined and many slated him. i believed he would come good. he did

i never rated beradi. i hated him at left back and centre back. many berated me for this. now many agree he is not good enough

I knew last season we wasnt going up. got slated for it. come true

i believed derby would beat us in second leg, partly down to Mb man and game management, partly due to beradi not being good enough and partly due to the diamond derby played isolating phillips. it tured out correct

i saw us sell pontus and predicted doom. set play soft touch. poor teams beating us. teams only needing a sniff to get some points. this co-insided with my thoughts about MB leaving. at the time beratted 12 games in people are starting to agree

i am of course joking about being the orical but i do think i have a decent understanding of football and my thoughts, opinions and predictions are often shot down and slated. yet in time they turn out to be decent calls of course this upsets me. epscially when people get personal

my predictions for the season (if MB stays) we will fall away after xmas and miss out on playoffs just finishing about 8th

we will continue not beating the lesser teams. we will continue to dominate games yet drop points due to poor finishing and letting in too many goals (when chances against us are considered) . after Xmas unless Mb goes or we get major investment things will get worse to a greater or lesser extent. in short MB is not the answer if the question is who can get leeds promoted.

5.) 18 Oct 2019 12:51:41
Wood. "many" did not slate him. Again, just because you type something does make it true.
He was an easy one to spot as being good. He had a track record of being good before we got him. We paid £3m for his services when £3m was a lot of money in the Championship.
So in effect you just rehashed what others had already said

Beradi. "many berated you" not because you thought he was a crap left back but because you kept spouting on about him being a crap left back.
Telling us your opinion once or twice is a valid point of view. Constantly saying the same negative just makes you out to be petty. That is probably why you got "berated".

"knew last season we weren't going up". no sh! t sherlock. So did I. It was as the final whistle went against Derby in the 2nd leg. Prior to that I do not believe you could have KNOWN. You're generally negative so I imagine you had a feeling that we might not go up but at no stage did you predict we would lose at home to Derby in the 2nd leg so I don't see you 'predicting' much so far.

"we will continue not beating the lesser teams". remind me how we did against Stoke again? Just because we have lost to a couple of teams that you think are lesser it doesn't mean they are lesser teams. Looks like you are "getting personal" with fans of other teams there.

If I am honest, I think your spellchecker 'predicts' better than you have so far.

Your views are an interesting read with some valid points, but your sanctimonious follows-ups, when all you do is 'state the bleeding obvious' show how little you value the views of fellow posters.

Of course you will get shot down. We all do. And of course replies will be personal, as your original views are personal too. Replies can not be anything else but personal. I doubt any poster wishes you ill, but if you have a right to post personal views, you should let them have the right to reply in a personal style too.

6.) 18 Oct 2019 14:36:49
Berm you’re too touchy mate. Lots thought Wood would do well myself included but don’t feel the need to pay ourselves on the back so very often. Beradi is your opinion but doesn’t make it correct. Personally I’ll take the managers opinion over yours. Now please don’t see that as a personal attack. Right I’m off down to the Dog and Duck for a swift one or two!

7.) 18 Oct 2019 15:55:46
I have no doubt there has been plenty of incorrect predictions also but we don't get to hear about those.

8.) 18 Oct 2019 16:23:45
true cork maybe take it too personal

as for my predictions axe. said all season from our first victory we wasnt going up. said we wasnt good enough for automatic and in playoffs against a better team defence would fail. put money on it in december for big win sadly. did the same with the second leg against derby just knew we wasnt going to win. ok didn't know but believed strong enough to back it. that said i would of given anything to be wrong

as for me actually being wrong notts. never. well once back in 87 i remember it well. it was a wednesday and raining.

9.) 18 Oct 2019 16:24:39
in all honesty i thought brom were going to spank us. well gald to be wrong but sadly the performance that brought the win was very unleeds like and that for me is the problem.

10.) 18 Oct 2019 17:39:19
also just read the lesser teams comment axe. are you serious?

Millwall are a bottom half table team (beat us) , QPR bottom table team (beat us twice) ipsiwch and wigan both relegated (both beat us) , blackburn, hull, brum all weaker teams and have all beat us

i don't think many would argue that when we come up against the weaker teams under Mb we have struggled and often lost games we should not of won. last year i think that cost us and this year don't look much better

you don't have to agree with all my points but i don't think you can call me out on that particular point. last year we was going for promotion and got beat at least ten times by teams that finished in the bottom half of the table and therefor are by league standings lesser teams. this is a problem and one that really needs addressing. if any prem manager had the same stat when managing a team going for title i think they would come under immense scuritny.

11.) 18 Oct 2019 17:42:48
Always preferred Ceefax.

12.) 18 Oct 2019 18:39:55
Ausman 1, I think Bam Bam will come good once he finds he feet, ready for next season Radz last one with any luck, we must trust in MB sink or swim let hope he does the job.

01 Sep 2019 13:19:34
Are we once again in a situation of crisis? Is it Leeds are falling apart again? After the result reading some of the social media from fans it sounds like it, and the season is already over. Makes me want to feel pleased I didn't manage to get back over to England for a season ticket. I must watch a different game to a lot though because so far I am gutted I couldn't get back because every game I have watched has looked worth every penny that would have been spent on a ticket. I'm seriously jealous of those lucky enough to be at Elland Road to see the games, and those at the away matches. The atmosphere has. dare I say seemed to even go up a level from last season.

The quality of football played I think at this early stage has been exceptional. Everyone of course has their own opinion and is entitled to it.

My opinion is we are going up as champions. We are in a situation now where I am starting to feel sorry for Klich and Bamford because Costa and Nketiah are going to come in for them in my opinion. That is a nice dilemma to have that we didn't have last season. For all the stick Bamford gets he has scored 4 I think in 6. Some say tap ins. The goals I have seen Eddie score have been tap ins for us. Bamford doesn't do those tap ins to score against Wigan both goals (one he fought hard to get at) and we don't get the 3 points.

Onwards and upwards. ALAW

Oh and unless White has been deceiving us with performances I wouldn't be surprised if a Man City or even Barcelona don't come in for him next summer. The lad looks class. Barcelona saw the quality in Pique when he couldn't get in the team at Man U. I can see it happening with White. See how the season plays out but at the moment he could be one of the best loans there has ever been.

Great post Malta, I am back for the football, I have bought a season ticket and it is worth every penny! Love it.

3.) 01 Sep 2019 14:02:03
Cheers bright and Spanish.

4.) 01 Sep 2019 19:34:54
Superb post Malta. Only one thing. I can’t see Eddie getting in ahead of Bamford anytime soon unless we go with two up top as PB is playing extremely well. Absolutely love your post though .

5.) 01 Sep 2019 22:04:03
You might be right, Cork. In fairness I think it would be hard to justify dropping Bamford at this stage with his goals to game ratio. His work rate has really impressed me. I think it is Costa rather than Eddie that needs to be starting now but who gets dropped? Harrison for me is one of the most frustrating players I have seen for a few years. His first touch in my opinion is exceptional but that final killer ball seems to elude him. That comes together and what a player he will be. He just seems to me a lot of the time he is trying to walk it in towards the 6 yard area looking for a simple ball. I'm of the same opinion as I think you are suggesting with Bamford in that neither him nor Harrison will be dropped any time soon.

Going to be a rollercoaster of a season me thinks again. Got to feel good being a Leeds fan. Best in the world.

18 Aug 2019 01:30:21
Thought an excellent and professional performance today. 5 minutes in I thought Wigan were all about getting stuck in. Hard tackles and never shy about sticking a boot in and I thought a lot of cards would be coming. I think it could have been a straight red for their player not a second yellow?

Pablo was kept quiet. Douglas and Harrison can be frustrating with some great build up play but no end product. That is about all I will be negative about.

Bamford worked hard again and his movement off the ball has improved so much. He really works the channels to create space. The dig about the tap in I actually was sat watching saying to a mate "I think he tried to miss that! " Then laughed, but it is about a striker getting in the right positions. Bambam keeps getting in those positions to score and did.

Foreshaw I also thought was excellent. Phillips did as he does and showed composure. And the keeper never gave me a moment today thinking I need an inhaler or was having a heart attack so all is good.

Bring on Pontus and his team next. All the best. ALAW!

1.) 18 Aug 2019 08:34:56
A bit unfair on both Harrison and Douglas I thought. A lot of people saw mOm between Harrison and Foreshaw, think I’d agree. Harrison is taking people on more, getting a lot of the ball, so not everything coming off, but looking much more dangerous and threatening this year. Douglas getting better as well.

I think the amount of action down that side of the pitch is also taking some of the workload and expectation of Hernandez as well.

2.) 18 Aug 2019 09:09:00
Spot on Spanish. Malta, makes a good point about Harrison but as you say, if you play as direct as he does, sometimes things don't come off and ultimately possession is wasted. Much sooner see him play like this and take risks than to play backwards.

As my sister in law says "you can play around with it all you like Mick, but you won't get anywhere without a bit of penetration. "

MM.

{Ed025's Note - love it mick..

3.) 18 Aug 2019 10:09:42
I think Douglas and Harrison are starting to work well together, room for improvement on the final ball in, but definitely getting better.

4.) 18 Aug 2019 11:43:45
i didn't see the game but saw comments about harrision and douglas cutting in rather than crossing which was frustrating

we all know douglas can cross but i don't think this is MB's way and we can't blame a player for doing as told. I don't think we will see a lot of crosses like with corners as it is not our strenght or game plan

i personally like douglas and think like with bambam some can be a bit harsh.

5.) 18 Aug 2019 12:12:46
Not going to play a lot of crosses into box as team is a bit on short side. Shows at set pieces and corners for and against. Think its Bubs way to play it to feet. When we play teams like Millwall who are happy to defend in depth that will cause problems. Quite a few games last season when there were about fifteen players in our oppositions penalty area which does not give you much room to play it to feet. Think we have players capable of taking that shot from 15-20 yards and hope to see more of those.
By the way BW reckon Matt Smith will get quite a few for Wall this season, they found themselves a good target man at last.

6.) 18 Aug 2019 12:21:59
Matt Smith is one of the best headers of the ball in the game, almost as good as Crouchy. He will be a great asset for Milwall and hopefully we'll be able to contain him when we play them.

MM.

7.) 18 Aug 2019 12:28:04
Think there was a mixture between cutting in and crossing of variable quality but the first goal came from a pretty good Dallas cross I think, pinpoint to Foreshaw and Bam Bam picked up the rebound.

8.) 18 Aug 2019 14:15:38
always liked smith at leeds and think he was better than stats showed

know the wall fans love him and he is doing really well. just hope he don't score past us.

9.) 18 Aug 2019 15:53:28
What i meant Spanish was not a lot connecting with their head, both goals ended up as tap ins because no one got a clean head on anything. Crosses come in but set pieces and corners will be a lottery if high balls are just swung in. Good to get the ball in the danger area and i just think what Edmo could do with all those crosses. Hope Eddie is god with his head. Mind you Forshaw managed to get on end of a few.

10.) 18 Aug 2019 16:01:53
Smith may haunt us in the same way Morrison often did. Always rated him too, and was surprised he was allowed to leave at the time. (Smith, that is! )

11.) 19 Aug 2019 12:52:29
I think Smith was another pocket liner for Master Bates wasn't he?

24 Jul 2019 10:53:49
I'm going to upset, Ausman here with a long one.

Firstly I read the site every chance I get. It is fantastic to read opinions from Leeds fans from so many different areas. I was born in Leeds, but now live in Malta. A little like Spanish I guess that I am lucky enough to travel back to see games when the season starts.

I'm not getting in to any bickering. We all have an opinion; so here is mine after reading a few things.

Bielsa was brought in to coach the players already there. Work with him or out. Shift deadwood. Call the man stubborn or whatever, but, he is paid the wage I wouldn't mind having. I think Radz had his business plan for the club which was through development of young players. A smart thing for a championship club I think, and like it or not that is what Leeds are and have been for a long time now. Would we like to throw a few hundred million to buy our way out of this league? Would I like to go to Elland Road seeing Messi in a Leeds shirt? I doubt many wouldn't.

Ask yourself this.

Unless you watched the under 23's or under 18's how many would have heard of Jack Clarke? Anyone predict he would come on as an impact sub to change games the way he did because I didn't. and I had seen him play. He caught teams and players by surprise with his directness.

Bielsa has a reputation for walking if things are not how he wants. He hasn't walked. Significant investment has been made in Thorpe Arch. All what, Bielsa apparently requested. Cellino cut all costs when chairman including the Ladies team, staff, Thorpe Arch, and a lot more. He walked in saying he would buy Elland Road back for the fans the day after he put pen to paper. Did he? Nope. Radz invested back into the grass roots. Put some pride back into the club in my opinion. Like it or not, and like him or not we finished 3rd in what is one of the hardest leagues in the world to get out of.

Let Bielsa coach. Another year for most of them so expect them all to be improved and on board. As MM would say.

Up the Whites and down them pints.

With yer, man! 🍻🍻🍻.

2.) 24 Jul 2019 11:47:56
good post mate,

love malta as well nearly got married that but opted for dartford wedding blackpool stag as Aus also to upset Aus.

3.) 24 Jul 2019 11:53:13
Good post Malta and agree with all of it but i do not think fans are disappointed in what Radz has done, just what he has not done. Jan window in my eyes, and many others, was a big mistake given our position position in the table at that time. This window time will tell if he has done enough, opinion is we need a CB, will we get one?
I think he has done a good job with the business side of the club. The academy although doing well we let a lot go who for me have not had time to show their potential. Halme, Diaz, Nicell, etc. Although we still have talent in Edmo, Bogus, Stevens etc. will they all be here in a years time or will they be gone also.
You mentioned Cellino in a sort of derogatory way but he was the guy who brought our debt down from 21mill to +1mill in a year thus enabling Radz to build on that.
So no nobody wants 100 million chucking at the club but if we are on top again in Jan and have players running on empty and carrying injuries would not mind some new players in to help us out.

4.) 24 Jul 2019 12:51:12
I think Cellino reduced our operating loss down from 21 million but I think the debt was restructured. The club will still be clearing the debt owed to GFH and therefore will contribute, in part, to the operating losses we currently have.

5.) 24 Jul 2019 13:29:32
Bw. You stylish geezer.
I wouldn’t take my worst enemy to either of those two places mate. Just you and blindfolded wife at wedding were it?

6.) 24 Jul 2019 13:30:45
Good post Malta.
Is there a sequel?

7.) 24 Jul 2019 14:20:16
to be fair it was a hilton in dartford and the church was lovely. they even played marching on together as we left the church
sadly had 250 at the wedding and had a good 25 people at the stag which maybe says a lot about the quailty of people i hang about with more than anything else.

8.) 25 Jul 2019 16:03:34
You are right Notts a lot of it was restructured but for FFP purposes we were +1mill, shows what you can do.

12 Jan 2019 04:12:34
Firstly I would like to thank all those that post on this site! I often am watching a game and checking the insight everyone has while thing happen during the match.

The Australian has sided with George to become pessimistic. (Who saw that coming? I have a read on this site for years. If they agree it is a sign)

I'm not much interested in the spy thing. I said to those I watched the game with that I would have a lot of respect for fat Frank if, he held his hands up after the game when we won. I knew somehow we would. They made such a deal out of it that I knew Bielsa was somehow insulted and the players play for him.

I know this has been mentioned: Gary Linker's favourite crisp eating team did what was considered impossible. They won the league beating the big. no massive spenders of Chelsea, Man U, Man city. let's not forget the likes of Liverpool who have a world class coach. Everton who have a lot of money to spend. Then those London 2 that love to hate but play good football.

For my first post, I would like to say this.

We are all LEEDS! The performance from everyone on the pitch against those RAMS was incredible. Alioski is a warrior. Has he been injured yet? He must be the most hated player on the pitch at times.

Pontus is just bleeding Leeds. In his blood. A few times I have seen him read the game and smile as he does it. He can play Premier football in my opinion without doubt.

Schmeichel to this team would have made a difference.
Everyone who watched the game with me said, Clarke won't be there next season; he is class. I agree! The lad is class. Fearless. Harrison got signed by Pep who has worked with probably the best youth setup in football there is, so for him to be doing that when he can sign anyone with the money Citeh have says something. I mean you don't go from working with the likes of Messi to being told money is no object and taking a punt on a lad called Harrison.

Viara. Well. I will be honest. Selling him was not a loss to me. Last season he couldn't pass the ball to anyone in the same shirt he had on. What I would like to have seen was how he developed under Bielsa, because Philips was always a red card waiting to happen for me. Now. and hope Berm is ready for the tattoo! Philips is prem quality. Viera played the role of Batty! Simple pass. Viara gave it away. Philips has grown into that holding player that can pick a pass that isn't a simple ball.

This is our year. We go up as champions.
To all the posters, keep the faith! ALAW!
To the EDS a big thanks for your time and effort, and a happy New Year to all.

LeedsMalta

{Ed001's Note - just to point out, Pep is not involved in youth signings, they are not his role at all. Harrison was not his decision.}

1.) 12 Jan 2019 07:56:00
Cheers for your thoughts Malta.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 07:59:19
Hi LeedsMalta good post and on the mark. I am Sydney based but not of the pessimistic view. I stated we would win and for me it is more than possible we can go up. But when they play the game in the way they did I get the same buzz I did when i followed them around europe. The togetherness of the fans too is great to see and read. Pessimistic or not we are all part of this special football family. MOT.

Some of that made sense Bazooka

But the FFP Rules are what Radz openly stated and other journalists have said restricts the clubs in the league. Like it or not. Parachute payments were put there to prevent clubs falling from the premiere league to championship to support players on the books earning over 50k a week. You can't get rid of that player and you pay his contract up if no club is willing to take him. He can sit at home and train with the kids still getting paid his 50k a week. The agent has a cut! Why do you think agents put players in the window and orchestrate false transfer talk? They get paid! New contract, signing fee or loyalty bonus.

Listen if we all could run Leeds better than Radz we would be and a lot richer than I am. Berm said Radz is a failed businessman because of his TV sports deal and yet the man is a self made millionaire worth over 500 million so if that is failed I wouldn't mind being a penny behind the bloke. I'll fail every week if I have that money in my bank and you can call me a failure.

I would like to add to that with Bowyer who has done a fantastic job a Charlton which he has played 2 forwards the majority of times, and said it was always how he had known in his playing days the game to be played. I'm not contradicting myself because the difference is Bowyer has the team well drilled and I believe George did mention it about Bowyer's team would be full of energy because as a player he always was. It was never 442 with them though when we played them. They did fantastic to stop us wide and I could never see us scoring. Casillia made the mistake and will make many more. It gave them the goal and I could never see us scoring at all.

I'll give George food for thought and some others. O'Leary had his back four that never conceded a goal but only played 10 games together. That is 10 clean sheets. It was Mills Ferdinand Woodgate Matteo. We had Harte on the bench who was one of the best goal threats from a freekick. So what do you change? For instance I think Douglas is a threat from a set piece but Alioski is at the moment playing as a better defender and managing to put the ball in the net and cross where Harrison doesn't. Despite being kicked every chance anyone gets at him.

Bermo, honestly I love your mentality. Win ugly is good. Long ball on the counter. A good old scrap in the box. The game is very different now. I have seen at least 30 incidents from corners for and against us from corners with shirt pulling and plain and simple wrestling at times that would be given as a penalty on VAR.

I agree with you with one respect of Janson being a loss in both boxes. He was a threat forward and I don't think we will score from a corner. I would take it short now and have Philips whip it in from the edge of the 18 yard to be attacked. Also think White is a different class. Like you said about Philips not playing prem football or England or whatever I will bare my balls in Harvey Nichols in 2 year if White is not playing both international football and for a top team.

He looks that good to me. Pontus though thought he was the man. Rate Cooper or not, he is the captain and you don't question the manager. I see Pontus as much as I loved him as being that sort of influence. If you have played football before then you do not have your manager telling you one thing and captain then firing you up with the same mentality and instructions to have another player then saying something different as if you have to listen to him!

I think George, Spanish, and Bright toughed on it last season about Pontus being made captain. I in a way agreed. Difference is Pontus sat alone after the Derby loss making it about him. Cooper was injured and came off against Brom and stood giving every player a hug as they came off. That to me is the difference. Cooper wasn't sat crying somewhere he was still all about the team and everyone involved.

Ausman ask Bermo, he thinks the team and players are more than capable of promotion under another manager. Majority of whom finished midtable before Bielsa. Same manager that identified Dan James when nobody if hand on heart knew about and is now playing for Man U! And if anyone watched the documentary would see the deal was done and it was all Swansea Hugh Jenkins that refused answering calls. I do believe he got relieved of his post as chairman of the club not long after, but people will point the finger at Radz when he employees people at the club to deal with things as simple as a medical, contract signed, and now waiting on. previous employees. Not to be. If they don't answer the phone there is not much you can do. Like an ex girlfriend of mine.

Sorry, but I don't think 442 can work these days. Fullbacks are no longer fullbacks. They are wingbacks expected to get forward on an overlap. You have say for instance Chapman and Wallace up front with what was the best midfield at the time behind them with Strachan McCalister Batty Speed and it wouldn't work! You look at all the top teams now and they have a 3 forward line. City, Liverpool, Barca, Madrid (Both) Because they can control and dictate play with the extra man in midfield. The wingers as we knew them before turn into inside forwards on the attack. The fullbacks into wingers essentially.
