Scott hogan people! Would suit lufc. Just the type of striker we need 😀.

Liverlass

1.) 18 Sep 2016 17:35:12
spoke about him about 6 months ago struggled to keep a regular place in squad then they started to play him and goal after goal, had leg break just before end of season .
I had read that Newcastle were in the mix, think he will be between 6-8mil .

2.) 18 Sep 2016 23:45:31
Has a good goal to game ratio but has missed a lot of football due to injury (over 2 seasons worth of games already at 24yrs, that's pretty worriying) . If he is going for around the £8m mark and we have the cash to spend then why wouldn't we go for Rhodes?

Middlesbrough have brought in Negredo, Rhodes can't get a game, pretty sure they would sell for £8m. Has scored 20+ in 3 of his 4 full seasons at this level.

Personally I would take Matej Vydra as a cheaper option. Did really well then hit a bit of a wall. Now he would be available for a steal which is pretty much what happened when we brought Rosco in from Cardiff.

3.) 19 Sep 2016 07:24:28
Vydra went to Derby for £8m.

4.) 19 Sep 2016 23:52:07
Fair point SG, knew he was at Derby but had it in my head it was only on loan, stupid brain lying to me.
Wow £8m, that's a ridiculous overspend on an out of form player, honestly thought he would be (and should be) valued around the £3-4m mark after a couple of sub standard seasons and might be worth a punt. Think Derby might live to regret that one.

5.) 30 Sep 2016 02:23:26
8m? Who sanctioned that?

I'd take David Nugent on loan and cheekily ask about Jordan Rhodes at the same time.

No doubt they'll be near 17th come January and they'll panic buy a few dud La Liga strikers.

Jordan Rhodes would suit Leeds and would be happy for a return to West Yorkshire I'm sure.

Failing that, Nugent in loan would be immense in this league, Proven.

Well lads & lasses, we have actually been linked with, dare I say it a winger for once!!

"Leeds United interested in move for Brazilian winger
Raphael Martinho. Martinho's most fruitful spell in terms of goals was when he was on-loan at Verona in the 2012/13 season, where he went on to score ten goals in 30 games."

I know another foreign player but if he is anything like Maxi Gradel then happy days. MOT

Liverlass

1.) What convinces me with this signing is that we signed two players from Catania in summer so we do have contact with them

Bellusci and Doukara if you were wondering. This guy sounds alright, scores goals from wide areas :)

2.) I hear you Liverlass!

26 Nov 2014 13:34:54
Ajose out, Scott Sinclair in please. well maybe I'm hoping too much though. Would be a nice surprise to get someone in like a scoring winger like him. We haven't had anyone as good as gradel and look at the impact he made.

If wood doesn't perform let's give this Malik wilks a go or stokes. Hopefully if dropped in favour of the youngsters then that should give him a kick up the jacksey.

Liverlass

1.) 04 Sep 2016 14:50:22
Liverlass,

Replacing him with Wilks Stokes or Mulhern is something I applaud but it won't have the desired effect on improving Wood. You can't give him class no matter what you do. He will forever stay an average championship forward and nothing more. Becchio in his prime and Mcbadgekisser had class that's the level we need.

2.) 04 Sep 2016 16:41:48
By George I think you've got it right! MOT.

3.) 04 Sep 2016 16:41:38
Yes you have a point u can't polish a turd lol. He has one of the worst first touches I have ever seen but then scores fab goals once in a blue moon. I'd rather he scored average goals more often though. Unfortunately as we didn't sign a striker we may have to rely on one of our youngsters coming through.

4.) 04 Sep 2016 19:22:23
Wood has been given chance after chance after chance and not produced.

We need someone to score goals, not someone to wait around fr a ball to come to them and still miss.

5.) 04 Sep 2016 20:44:25
Hello Liverlass, good post, we were bantering the other day about having a female head coach! Are you up for it girl? 😎 you talk a lot of sense and get straight to the point! 😂 I'm with you in that it does no harm in dropping an out of form striker for a young hungry something to prove youngster, I think that will be the case as GM has proved with Viera, will you be at many games this year Liverlass?

6.) 06 Sep 2016 20:19:40

I feel Bamba has had his day for Leeds. Amazing isn't it when football players put a shift in to earn a contract then their performances from then on are crap. And not captain material for me, nice doesn't do it for me. To be captain for leeds means putting your body on the line and putting in a gritty performance like our Billy.

I've said all along that if we got Bridcutt he should be captain.
And I'm also pleased that Garry is giving Douks a chance. He was on fire right before his 8 game ban. Just hope he has learnt his lesson about his attitude, although he did declare he didn't do anything wrong so let's give him another chance as wood isn't the most mobile of players. Any help we can get up front is welcome by me. Told Garry myself a while back to give Douks a chance and low and behold he listened to a Yorkshire woman. ;-)

Good post liverl.

2.) 22 Aug 2016 15:00:17
Totally agree re captain Lass.

3.) 22 Aug 2016 15:54:21
Agree Liver maybe Bird or pilot can take the band, SD should be given a chance and rest Wood as he does seem to pick up injuries .
Wood may yet come good .

4.) 22 Aug 2016 16:29:04
Agree too. With the addition of Jansson, that gives us 3 solid CBs and Bamba. We just need to bring through a youth player and 5 should be enough for the season. Although, I would love it if we got Luke Moore.

Upfront, I think we should use Roofe, in addition to Douks as alternatives options and as cover for Woody and Antonnson.

It seems that the 4-4-2 is going to be the way forward with e 4-2-3-1 fall back. For the first time in ages I feel we have a balanced squad, although more cover wouldn't go amiss.

5.) 22 Aug 2016 18:08:38
Bamba should never play for us again, I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but I agree he played out of his skin to gain a decent contract with the might whites. Now he really is the weak link and strolls around without a care. captain? Don't make me laugh and I also say Billy bremner would be turning in his grave! MOT.

6.) 22 Aug 2016 21:19:39
I think it's a little ott to suggest he should never play for us again, I agree he needs to come good again and stop making so many errors but wasn't too long ago we were begging for him to be signed - he did make an impact and helped us out of the relegation slots and helped gain us a mid table finish when we were all but written off. If he can't come good then fair enough and he should go, but never say never in my humble opinion. I know we can't afford to carry anyone but there are a lot of people with very short memories 🙄.

7.) 22 Aug 2016 22:22:19
PP

You are right in a limited way but answer me this.

Do you find it purely coincidental that his form took a dip no make that nosedive the minute he signed a contract?

8.) 23 Aug 2016 03:19:31
Bridcutt as captain - Yes, said that week after he came in on loan last year.
Bamba gotten rid of - Would like to see how he responds to being dropped first, might do him good to have time out of the first team and without the armband.
Doukara - . time to leave. and it pains me to say, because I championed him for so long. Think he has a lot of potential but no drive. His best runs for the club have been trying to win a contract and then trying not to lose it with a good god damn in between. Sad because he could be class but he has zero passion.

9.) 23 Aug 2016 19:17:03
Coops captain for me. From what I can see and comments from players on various sites, Bridcutt is like a captain on the field in any case so I would go with someone else i. e. 2 captains.

Trouble with Leeds is
1. too many managers, too little time
2. revolving door of players too
3. not enough quality
4. not enough championship experience
5. players that fear big crowd pressure of leeds fans

will obviously support monk and team. not entirely sure if he knows his best 11 yet. players seem to be like headless chickens. need experienced championship players. not sure about promotion worthy team but it is early days.

Liverlass

1.) 09 Aug 2016 17:52:53
Could not have said it better, with the business we have so far done we will not be a top[ six side.
Need at least one, two c/ b decent Wheater and Moore, bridcutt .
Taylor wants to go, so sell him .
We keep being linked with players that can't hold down a first team place in Championship or abroad .
At what stage will the penny drop that quality in this league will cost, support with a few loans and then adjust in January window.
QPR looked sharper and more match fit are defence was slow and again got caught wanting on set plays.

Anyone else think maybe Cellino is picking Evans brains about the team before he let's him go so that either the man himself is thinking of being the manager or passing on all the info on to the new headcoach. The only Italian I would currently entertain being our headcoach is Rainieri and that ain't going to happen. Spending loads of money on a manager is not the answer as you can't polish a tur*. I would rather keep steve for another season and spend money on the team. Time and time again we don't bring in quality players and use excuse after excuse that they preferred another club or we take too long to sign a player that they went elsewhere or it wasn't the right time and they wanted to fight for their place in their current team. yardy yah.

Liverlass

1.) 03 May 2016 14:13:26
Liver
We are run by a madman. Mcbadgekisser was right. This isn't the Leeds any of us remember. It's all about Cellino's way or the highway. It's exactly what Redders said. The better him and Thommo do the worse it will get for them. Cellino wants the popularity and glory. Successful clubs their owner drifts and fades into the background as the manager and players do well. With Cellino, he wants it the other way around. For the last couple of finishes we had, we may as well kept Mcdermott or Redders and not paid a fortune out in legal fees and damages (will probably end up being close to 8m all in all) and spent that money on the team. We'd be better off. Don't expect next season to be much better especially if SE no longer at helm.

2.) 03 May 2016 15:22:11
Quite agree Georgie Boy. I've said this all along, the guy has a huge ego and won't tolerate anyone stealing his limelight. As you say the better Evans does, the worse it will be for him.

I only wished he'd made it a more difficult decision by beating Charlton.

MM.

3.) 03 May 2016 15:45:36
McCormack, readers and Thompson all went on to have a great season after they moved on.

4.) 03 May 2016 16:09:15
yeah I think Se was better appointment than redders as much as I was routing for redders, same again it is said don't expect next season to be better espcially with out SE. how can we know we might buy some great players and get a better manager.

SE was decent but some bad results against poor teams, he does not know how to set up a big team to beat a smaller one, so in theory was right guy to stablise us but worse person to get us promoted.

this is all just spectlative theory until we see what the summer brings, so until I see the need to be negative I shall be positive.

5.) 03 May 2016 16:17:19
Agree with all the above sentiments however I think our fortunes have to change . Even if we don't spent proper big money, if we keep the best of what we have, develop a few more of our own and bring in three or four this season and next, we will be much much better . If Evans had of been with us all season and brought in 2 or 3 more of his own players think we would of been pushing top six this year.

The large financial payoffs to previous owners expires at the end of this season ( I think) . So a return to the prem from 2017 onwards means we do not have to fork out loads of dough to them for nothing.

6.) 03 May 2016 16:09:17
True Wex. Can see the fly tipper moving on to pastures new very soon. As the old Paul Young track goes (adapted for sweaty sock Ross) "Wherever I dump my crap, that's my home".

MM.

7.) 03 May 2016 21:13:13
Picking Evans brains? that's not a phrase that comes readily to mind when thinking of Evans. He's only here for self promoting himself. We are so used to mediocrity are advocating, giving him club money to invest. Really? Dave? Yes. Bridcutt good loan signing. Caryol? If he's so great, why not play him? No, I think Coyle will play better on the wing? Really? Has anyone else noticed how we go on a run of decent results, then he freshens things up and we lose . Cause Dave has a great game scores so SE rests him . for what? The guy ain't got a clue. ain't as if we had important games to save him for! If Cellino gives that clown his money to invest and our team to get in the top 6,he's as mad as some of you think he is. With about 3 good players and a decent coach, my bet is we could challenge the top 6.

8.) 03 May 2016 21:24:55
Great post raggity, totally agree.

9.) 03 May 2016 22:50:55
well said raggity agree 100 %.

10.) 03 May 2016 23:23:21
Raggity
Good post and you are spot on but meddling Cellino may have interfered with team selection on occasions. Are we really going to get anyone better than Evans? Zenga? Having a laugh. He could be weaker than Hockaday.

11.) 04 May 2016 10:56:28
George it's only Evans meddling with team selection, any manager worth his salt, would rather resign them let a chairman tell him who to pick . So if Evans ain't got the gonads to tell Cellino to do one if he tried to interfere, is he worthy of managing our great club . Onwards and upwards to next season, the future is looking White . Hopefully . MOT.

Justice for the 96 families. Very bittersweet victory. Living in Liverpool at the moment is very surreal. Although people feel at long last they have got the right decision for themselves and for their relatives who suffered, it doesn't heal the wound and the damage brought on this great city around the world. It lives on and hopefully they have achieved something that should never ever happen again in society.

You have footballers with brains and footballers with no brains. Aidy white falls into the latter & that my friends was his downfall. Being quick is not good enough without and end product and he had no end product 99% of the time.

I'll be listening from Barcelona, holiday for my birthday :-)
I'm going for 2-1 Leeds. Hoping we raise our game like we did for the Shef Wed game. Antonsson to score the winner.
No letting me down now LUFC or else I will have to just drown my sorrows on the cocktails and beers.

I agree that football is about opinions. I take your point and as a leeds fan I want the best for our club and would like wood to do well. I say drop him and play him in the under 21's so he can find his scoring boots. We have to be fair to players and Byram was dropped for his performances according to Evans so wood should be dropped too. Let him get fitter and be taught the same composure as Byram has. In fact stick Byram up front he knows how to make room for himself on the ball and score. Wood doesn't appear to have any composure for a striker. Sorry but that's how I feel.
