Hi, I have just been told to put my mortgage on Ranieri been the next manager. Pep is going to stay on as his number 2. Apparently its signed and sealed, Radz waiting to announce it directly after Monk agrees his next job.

MIGHTYwhites

1.) 07 Jun 2017 17:45:13
Why would he wait for monk to announce his next job? I hope it's a decent profile appointment for us as it's looking worrying now that Pontus might be on his way (see latest news) and Woody speculation doesn't seem to be going away despite his comments. We need someone at the helm and quickly before everyone f**ks off! MM

When will Monk realise that Bridcutts positioning is leaving the midfield exposed and ultimately is the root of our inconstancy? Yes, Philips was poor for the most part yesterday as he tends to be when paired with Bridcutt, the two do not gel. But how much did improve when Bridcutt left the field?

Did we not batter and look a different team against Preston? The reason is we had a central midfield playing central midfield, not one playing center midfield and one on Bartley's toes. It was Philips and Viera that day, it worked and is an option to use again. However, as we saw yesterday we are in a pressure cauldron, we need some experience for the run in and playoffs.

O'Kane must start. Then it is Philips or Viera, the stats with O'Kane and Phillips and with O'Kane and Viera are both very good far better that Bridcut with anybody. My personal choice would be Philips he has created more chances than any of the other 3, in fact he has created more by a total of about 15 than the other 3 combined.

We need chances, we need goals. The notion some people are banding about, of us going 3 at the back is ridiculas at this stage of the season, we haven't played it barely tried it, why risk the season on the unkown. Just get back to the personal that work and have worked the best. This does not include Bridcutt.

1.) 18 Apr 2017 16:51:18
Mighty post MIGHTY. Totally agree. O'Kane has to start as he looks to play forward. Interesting stats on Philips. I've been saying for ages Bridcutt is next to useless in a team needing to attack. He did well last season when we needed to grind out results but at this stage he is a liability. He plays way way too deep.

2.) 18 Apr 2017 16:56:23
I agree MIGHTYwhites. I've been to every game this season and yesterday was the worst we've played. To echo your point, Bridcutt drops too deep and is effectively playing as an additional CB which in turn, invites pressure.

We lost the ball each time we tried to break (whether that was short or long ball) and Wolves executed their high press perfectly IMO. I'd also be tempted to play O'Kane with Vieira and at least have a bit more of an attacking impetus.

People criticising Phillips seem to have a short memory too as he wasn't the only player to play poorly yesterday and he was excellent vs Preston. He has been a bit hit and miss at times and I think it's when he's being crowded he struggles.

However, when he has a bit of time on the ball his range of passing is as good as anyone at LUFC so I think it's a mental thing (composure) rather than a technical issue.

3.) 18 Apr 2017 19:47:43
Is Viera still injured though? does anybody know what he has injured and when he might return?

4.) 19 Apr 2017 09:44:41
So, ok, if we are going stats (because if you throw that word around and think nobody will check then, well here i am. the pedantic SOB) then O'Kane and Bridcutt are a mile ahead in terms of points per game. If memory serves Bridcutt and Viera are second.

Bridcutt is defensively minded (he plays DM so what do people expect?) and may very well need to pick himself up, but he is a solid part of our best available midfield. Also as a note, Bridcutt does drop into the back four, as a result he works better when we have Taylor and Ayling on as they provide attacking prowess and he covers, dude is kinda surplus when Berardi plays.

5.) 19 Apr 2017 11:04:23
I think that's a fair comment Gummie. It's just frustrating that when it's glaringly obvious for him to push up, his natural instincts kick in and he sits deeper inviting pressure. I'm not saying he's a bad player but when we play a certain way (and you're right that he plays better with different players) it's a shame that he's unable to adapt accordingly.

6.) 19 Apr 2017 18:51:00
Who ever we play I still think we are lacking that bit of creativity in the middle of the park, its the second thing that needs addressing for me in the summer window Garry monks contract being first, we rely too much on Pablo, if he ticks Leeds tick and for the last 6 weeks he's been well below his best.

7.) 20 Apr 2017 15:53:04
Bridcutt is defensive n he does a good job at it, you take him out n the midfield would crumble, we have no one who can tackle like bridcutt, for me I'd put o'kane n bridcutt in as Phillips ain't good enough n Ronny has a lot to learn still. Bridcutt is by far our best midfielder

8.) 20 Apr 2017 19:41:44
i like bridcutt but ahev to agree we seem to play worse and get poorer results when he is in the team (recently anyway) our big wins I believe have all come without him? as much as I like him I would say drop him epsically agasinst the weaker teams. while on the note of monk having a blind spot and positioning ect. has anyone mentioned beradri on the left, as I am pretty sure he is a right back

Hi, not been on for a while but I think we all need to take a step back and chill and get the hell off Rad’s back!
Do you seriously think any deal this summer has gone ahead without Bielsa’s approval?
We were told at the start of the window that Bielsa had a 4 name short list of players he wants. We have signed 3 of them and could possibly still be chasing the 4th. Remember the Kent deal couldn’t have been done early Liverpool only decided on his future a week ago.

I also believe that the shortlist was drawn up with the understanding of the following;
• Clarke would be sold to meet ffp. let's face it we got extremely good money for a player yet to start fulfilling his potential, I know he had a funny turn but he went backwards last year and when you pick your preferred 11 this year, how many would have him in it? I guess not many, so if he’s not playing it makes it an even better deal
• Janson was gone, Bielsa wanted rid end of, all the ffp crap is rubbish! Anyone could see he was a badge kissing rotten apple with terrible positional sense. I can just imagine every Monday morning he would walk into Bielsa’s office with a different formation and team selection that he had picked over the weekend. Saying ‘Boss I think this is our best option next week play like this’. He thought he was that important.

So, so far how can you blame Rad’s, he has got almost all the players Bielsa wanted and got rid of the players he approved getting rid of. He also improved the training facilities to Bielsa’s specification.

That then leads me to this week which seems to be more business than Bielsa, but let’s put it into context.

- We have sold a bang averaged GK for over 3m, does he need replacing possibly not. We have 2 very good young GK to play second string. Huffer will play for England 1 day. For me smart business

- Then Roofe. This one is a little trickier because he is our best striker but then how good is he and he is very injury prone. We have banged on all summer we failed because we didn’t convert enough chances, Roofe got 16 goal for the team that created the most chances, I do not think that is good enough. He is entering the last year of his contract with seemingly no interest in signing another. Granted we may not have offered him a big enough salary, would you as a chairman want to make him the best paid player with a relatively poor conversion rate though. No! So receiving 7million for someone that will leave for nothing in the summer makes good business sense. However this leaves us extremely short up front so that would make 7 million worthless if we don’t get promoted. This is where the book will fall at Rad’s feet, he must reinvest in a quality CF to make 7mil for Roofe good business.

One last note, I think Harrison was brought back to convert into a CF. If you look at the shopping list of Kent and Costa it seems top heavy on wingers, if Kent does come he will expect to play.

Very good post

Although you asked do you think any one believes this happened with Mb say so. yes I do we all know Mb said don’t sell viera but rads did this was said in public by Mb so why would anything be different this year

I don’t mind the outgoings but there has to be at least two more incomings otherwise Mb is an idiot and or rads is Bates.

2.) 03 Aug 2019 10:34:16
Excellent post mighty!

3.) 03 Aug 2019 10:39:13
Mighty

Sensible post on all fronts

Radz, Orta and Biesla are a team when it comes to the running of the club. Biesla wants better training facilities and Radz signs the cheque. Radz needs to keep the accountants happy and Biesla identifies a high value but not high importance player that can help. Biesla also identify those players he doesn't need and Orta moves them on.

Teamwork son, teamwork.

4.) 03 Aug 2019 10:59:43
Not so bothered about the outgoings provided we strengthen and replace. We haven’t done that yet IMO and until we do I will remain dissatisfied.

5.) 03 Aug 2019 11:26:37
Great Post mighty, agree on all fronts and wish I was as good a wordsmith as you so I could have expressed it.

6.) 03 Aug 2019 12:14:11
Mighty its not what Rads has done! Its what he hasn't done that is the problem! Nobody objects to players moving on for good money, if they are of a certain standard. Its the fact that we are not brining in players to improve areas we think need strengthening.

7.) 03 Aug 2019 17:06:32
Top post Mighty, all makes sense
There are many on here who will moan about Radz, no matter what he does, or doesn’t do
As you say, if he reinvests the Roofe money in someone like Gayle, then he has done OK by me and we have a good squad, although would like to see another CB as well.

8.) 03 Aug 2019 17:51:34
Top scorer in a team that came 3rd in the championship 1 of the better defenders in the championship and what many regard as Leeds brightest prospects all for under 25 million and our season starts in around 24 hours. Yeah we should be delighted with the forward planning.

06 Feb 2018 08:10:35
Good morning all, Probably going to get slated here! But I am not sure Orta is the antichrist. Ultimately he is working to a model set out by Rad, working to Rad’s budget. I read reports that at games he is kicking every ball, really wanting us to succeed. Christenson’s problem wasn’t Orta or the payers Orta signed, it was purely that the guy was a wet blanket! Before the season we all wanted Alloski, his form was top notch. It is Christianson that has failed to get anything from him. Likewise with Lasonga, Lasonga is a quality footballer, however for some reason Christianson very rarely managed to light the fire in his belly. Back to Orta, the guy is listening, he is trying to correct slight mistakes. As I said before we screamed at him we need more British players, ones with knowledge of the league! He signed Forshaw (Future captain) . We said we are crying out for a left back – he signed De Brock. (Who looks quality. ) All season we have said we need a manager with knowledge of the league, Orta makes an approach for one paying money for him and still that isn’t good enough for most. Fans slating Heckinbottom’s record do not really understand football. What he did to turn Barnsley around was nothing short of Phenomenal! Yes this season things have not gone too well, but look what he has had to work with, his chairman has been raping him since January 17.
So for now I think we should all reserve judgement on Orta. If just 3 or 4 players come out of our previously neglected youth system, he won’t look so bad. Remember prolonged success is built on youths coming through. You only have to look at the scumbags over the Pennines, do you think they would have had the success over years without that core of players coming through in the 90’s laying the foundations for the team to build on years later.

MIGHTYwhites

1.) 06 Feb 2018 10:00:40
Excellent points Mighty and very well made.

2.) 06 Feb 2018 10:18:47
Saying our youth system was previously neglected is a nonsense. We have always had one of the best recruitment and development systems in the league which this year has just turned chaotic.

3.) 06 Feb 2018 10:25:45
I don't think his working with the players as a coach/manager . One of my friends was chatting about a game he was at and how a player was swearing at him, he also commented that the same player seemed to have a massive attitude . If that was me it would be shower time .

4.) 06 Feb 2018 11:50:55
best post read in ages, orta is not my cup of tea but it is the modern way of football, (all top clubs have an orta) not every player he brought in has been a hit (who only signs hits? ) but most have potential to be good (these are the players tearing up the league at the start of the season) TC was tatcily inempt and not a man manager two massive flaws with being a manager. As for Paul agree top coach, good rep and people outside of leeds all say what a great job he has done, i think he was the best manager for the job that we could of realisticly got also Bige while i agree to an extent about our youth, no one can say our youth has not been great for years however we don't know about the new policy as we might have some great gems on our hands only time will tell

5.) 06 Feb 2018 12:15:32
At Barnsley you will find that although he had to sell his best players due to finances, he was allowed to manage a team and get in his own players, will be get the same at Leeds or have to Ask Victor.

25 May 2017 16:34:27
Well personally i'm gutted! All the names linked are a bit bland for me. Not a visionary to take this club forward. Rad's seems to be a visionary. Now I am not a big fan of doing this but it is absolutely a must promote PEP! He has been the brains and gel behind it all season

MIGHTYwhites

1.) 25 May 2017 16:54:57
Good shout Mighty old boy. Maybe, just maybe, he had a better bond with the players thank Monk and may be able to keep hold of Pontus and bring Bartley back. Could be a masterstroke. We know that Radz wants an all Spanish back room, so maybe this was his plan all along! MM

2.) 25 May 2017 17:09:17
Wouldn't object to Pep and Beattie staying on

05 Apr 2017 13:42:14
It wasn't so long ago we were saying, we need to strengthen FB, CB, wingers. Why are we buying O'Kane we are strong in CM. How wrong were we! CM has been costing us for weeks now. We need to go back to our most successful pairing of O'Kane and Phillips. Also when the good performances started Hernandez was out injured Roofe was behind. We need his energy back to support Woods.

MIGHTYwhites

1.) 05 Apr 2017 16:18:18
Agree with this. Hernandez is off form so give Roofe a go.

2.) 05 Apr 2017 19:48:57
Hernandez is our most creative player though. Take him out and who will create chances?

3.) 06 Apr 2017 01:53:50
At home Hernandez has to stay, away then I wouldn't mind seeing what Doukara or Dallas could do in there with a little more industry over style. Other option move Wood back a bit as a hold up/target man player with Roofe or Antonsson in front.

4.) 06 Apr 2017 11:02:01
Dallas offers nothing going forward. What's happened with Antonsson? He's not been given a chance, coming on for 5 mins hasn't proved he's not good enough.

5.) 06 Apr 2017 12:41:06
SG90 - pablo has created precious little himself in some games, particularly away from home so what difference does it make if he is in the team or not. i'd be interested to see what someone else could do in that position in away games at least. Give Roofe a shot at it and see what happens.

08 Mar 2017 11:15:30
I am starting to get concern at how negative our set up is, it is going to cost us like last night. When we go one up we should go for the jugular and kill the game off. We have a beter team than Fulham. We are just play our central midfield far to deep. We need to start the pressing higher up the pitch

MIGHTYwhites

1.) 08 Mar 2017 12:10:25
Yes mighty. agreed, but is it that we don't go for it, or our players are to defensily mind and as we have a good defence they are relying on that to see us through the game?

2.) 08 Mar 2017 12:11:40
Yep I was saying yesterday our ultra defensive subs would come back to haunt us and they did, shades of Wigan at home. Should've kept Fonzie on and brought on Hernandez with 10 to go.

3.) 08 Mar 2017 13:57:16
fonzie couldn't stay on he was knacked and to be fair he took one nasty tackle i first half and run himself ragged the whole game he had to come off. see why monked sured up we denfended from 5th minute so unlucky not to hold on for five more that said fulham desevred goal don't think any leeds fan begruged them a point

Yes, and if somebody is going to give 20 million he should go. If the rumors of Negredo coming are true, even more so. He will be our first choice striker, he is a different class to anything we have had since Viduka left. He scored 9 goals in the premier league last season, in a bad boro side who barely created a chance a game
