Been a long time reader of the site, and thought it was about time i registered! After yesterday's disappointing result, it would be easy to drop heads and think we have failed. I know i did! I also don't think we have been found out etc, we just chose the wrong moment to have a slump. On average in the past 10 years 73 points would have got you play-offs. Even if we win 1 of the remaining 2, that would be 76 points and in most of the other seasons would have guaranteed playoffs. Main thing is now to keep hold of Monk, and let him build on this season. glad to see you've made the leap from lurker to poster Matt - we welcome your thoughts and that's a decent one to start off with.

Right for team that will play Sunderland. I will go for this/ Wiedwald, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper Borthwick-Jackson, Bridcutt (he will have a huge point to prove against Sunderland. this is the reason I am picking him, as think he will give 150% in this match! ) Phillips (is the only CM we have that likes to attack the box) Hernandez, Saiz, Dallas, Wood. What are your thoughts, and who would you change/why? MOT

I wouldn't drop shaugnessy, or O'Kane, both were great vs Fulham.

2.) 16 Aug 2017 12:44:21
They were good, not great

3.) 16 Aug 2017 17:38:58
I would change Phillips, have him on the bench .

4.) 16 Aug 2017 17:56:50
Still think drop Hernandez for another cm, my kiltch? just gives us a bit more to battle with in the middle

5.) 16 Aug 2017 18:28:40
I think Hernandez could play as a deeper midfielder, next to O'Kane. With Dallas, Saiz and Alioski behind Wood. Or just play 433. Midfield, O'Kane, Phillips, Hernandez. Attack, Alioski, Wood, Saiz. Just a bit sick of the 4231 tbh.

6.) 16 Aug 2017 18:54:07
A man of my own thinking vinny. Is Pablo just a bit light weight for deeper mid though?

7.) 16 Aug 2017 23:39:36
Totally agree with Vinny I hate this 4-2-3-1, too predictable and it leaves huge space as Fulham showed to get at the back 4! Regardless of wood staying or going we need another forward or 2 in to help lighten the burden on Woody! But look for something different someone who can play off the shoulder turn n run at a defender . Whatever happens I don't expect Woody to be here come September

TC used to favour 4 3 3 previously so I'm hoping for a switch back when we're a bit more settled.

9.) 17 Aug 2017 10:22:25
4231 isn't doing us a massive amount of favours in home matches, in my opinion. If the idea is to play aggressive possession football, I'd rather see a 4-1-2-1-2. Think putting Alioski or Ekuban as second striker would be worth a go. Away from home, 4-2-3-1 might be a better option. Haven't really seen a workable plan B from TC, yet.

Cooper was in the team that drew 0-0 with Preston :)

I have to disagree on this. I think Phillips has a huge role to play this year at Leeds. Yes he gets criticism from us, including me, for his distribution. But with the way I think TC likes to play, he doesn't want 2 holding players, but instead wants one of the CMs to join the attack. If you then look at the players we have, I don't think we have anyone who does this job better than Phillips at the moment. Yes Vieira is a better all round CM, but is more of an 'enforcer' and breaks up the play brilliantly. Bridcutt is defensive and Klich is unknown at the moment. We should be getting behind ALL players, but always seem to have scapegoats ready (Cooper and Phillips) . Anyway was a good point yesterday, and let's hope for the same performance against Sunderland. MOT
