Rumours BW all but done for £30 m all in .

1.) 12 Aug 2020 07:25:00
Where are rumours? red hot.

2.) 12 Aug 2020 11:09:24
Some good twitter sources are saying it’s done Aus.

3.) 12 Aug 2020 14:37:41
Seems Brighton turned down a %30 million bid for Ben, if true as much as I hate to say it. time to move on.

4.) 12 Aug 2020 18:49:19
Ben white going nowhere get a grip.

08 Aug 2020 11:08:31
Summary from latest Phil Hay Q&A :

MB will sign his contract early next week .

We are targeting the following : one centre back only ( BW first choice but Brighton playing hard ball, I imagine Struijk will cover Berra ) , Benrahma ( but lots of competition ) , a striker to compete with Bam, a left back and a goalie if Kiko leaves . Plus various under 23's like Gelhardt who should sign Monday .

Diego Flores probably replaces Carlos Corberan .

There's going to be another Amazon doc covering the run in . A two parter .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 08 Aug 2020 21:46:11
What I liked about Carlos with the under 23s and then with his link to the first team and involvement there, was that he was an LUFC employee direct not part of Bielsa’s team like Flores. Bielsa’s team invariably go with him, so having someone who doesn’t involved in the two key streams can leave some continuity.

22 Jul 2019 23:34:21
Phil Hay basically saying tonight Casilla is staying, no new centre back or striker unless Roofe goes . What a joke!

RedhotCurrie

1.) 23 Jul 2019 01:24:20
Totally agree RHC. Everywhere you look on the net the majority of fans are crying out for 3 signings mainly CH, CF and a midfielder.
Surely the top brass at Leeds can see it too so what's going on? Takeover? Young guns good enough?
Surely something. Only time will tell.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 07:04:32
Radz maybe trying to do it on the cheap and never never again. Only two weeks of the window to go, so there will have to be a major shift in policy if we are going to make any permanent signings.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 07:30:26
It's no surprise, white was brought in to replace pontus. We got players in quickly and think it has always been the case we are now only going to replace people like Roofe or Phillips should they leave. Bielsa likes his small squad, it's a dangerous game given the fast pace we play and amount of injuries we seem to pick up. We can keep getting linked to various players but in truth we not going to buy. Yes we all can see we need strengthening but don't count on it happening. In my opinion we will struggle to finish higher than last season and I don't think Bielsa will stay the full season, but hope iam wrong.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 14:07:30
I can't see any more signings either. Like Mezzer says I had a sneaking suspicion when Pontus went that White was his replacement. after 16 games in the league below it is a massive, massive gamble although Bielsa really likes White by all accounts.

I think Bielsa will stay if we are doing well but if we are in the middle or bottom half of the table around Christmas I can certainly see him getting bored and leaving.

5.) 23 Jul 2019 14:12:37
RHC I don't believe Phil Hay on this occasion. Can see us making 2 more signings.

6.) 23 Jul 2019 14:37:57
Hope your right bro!

17 Jul 2019 23:37:15
So quote unquote 90% of our recruitment is done . This to me translates to if we can get in a quality CB for peanuts we might go for it but Bielsa is quite happy with the squad anyway, so we probably won't bother . So we will go into supposedly our best go at promotion in over a decade relying on a midget rookie in White at CB ( as Cooper can't cut it ) and a rookie at striker in Edmondson once Roofe goes and MB finally realises Bamford is a complete and utter waste of space .

People pointing the finger at Radz, by definition need to start pointing the finger at Bielsa as he supposedly set his terms for staying on . A lovely man and great football coach but a man with a track record of being a brides maid never the bride . A man too set in his ways to see after a season in the Championship what's required to get out . If he can't see what most fans can see then I'm sorry but I will not be satisfied with another season of wonderful but ultimately losing football .
#The buck stops with BIELSA.

RedhotCurrie

1.) 18 Jul 2019 02:26:24
Too true Mr Currie. I cannot believe how he can not see the blinding obvious, we have no class or depth in this positioned. Two new CB's are needed, but I suppose one at the very least. We are now weaker in defense than last season . God help this club, even a child could see this.

2.) 18 Jul 2019 10:49:17
RHC Good post. Yet again, thoughts mirror my own but don't believe we're done yet in the window.

Calimick We are weaker in defence but only by a touch in George opinion. Can all be different if we sign the right player in the time left.

3.) 18 Jul 2019 11:48:47
George - I only hope you're right, as an experienced and quality CB is so obviously needed unless Coops can step up another level on last year and also cuts out his brain-freeze moments, which seems rather unlikely. And even if that were to happen we should have experienced cover for injury and suspension.

12 Jul 2019 13:02:23
Talk of a Spurs bid for KP . I'd be gutted personally as whatever the price you don't get promoted by selling your better players . Silver lining Berm's credibility completely shot to tiny pieces!

RedhotCurrie

1.) 12 Jul 2019 13:37:59
Have always said KP is a very good player but i guess we will sell him eventually and maybe better to get a good price for him now. He has done well at DM but do not think he will improve in that role and not likely to get further upfield here which is where i believe he will play his best football and improve into a top class player.

2.) 12 Jul 2019 14:12:05
RHC "Silver" lining? Try vibranium embossed in gold, platinum and diamonds. Tattoo on the rear I mean icing on the cake would be an England cap.

3.) 12 Jul 2019 14:53:37
Lol. Funny George! 😂👍🏻.

4.) 12 Jul 2019 18:19:00
Spurs can pay 20 million for him and loan him back for the season!

That was excruciating. None of them came away with any credit in the bank . The youngsters clearly aren't ready . But for me the biggest disappointment was TR who is quickly turning into some kind of circus act with all his fancy flicks and no end product . Oh and obviously Casilla was a predictable disaster who needs his contract paid up if necessary . We have no strength in depth that much is obvious . We are a handful of key long term injuries away from relegation . We must not waste the next three weeks of this window . Stop messing around and pay the going rate .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 16 Sep 2020 23:08:59
Indeedy RHC the long term underinvestment in proper squad players is going to really be plain to see now in the big time . I know posters will tell me that Bubs only wants a small squad, but that is not going to work in the prem, we need cover in depth in key areas of the 1st team, if bam +rodi start firing blanks where are the goals then coming from? Kiko is not worthy of a prem place, pascal is still learning, and Pablo is pushing on, we need new faces in all those areas for starters .

2.) 16 Sep 2020 23:18:11
Perfect spot on analysis RHC.

16 Sep 2020 09:33:11
Transfer wise I would go all out for De Paul . The guy is a machine who will give goals, assists and do the dirty defensive side which Pablo, Roberts, Benrahma, Kent, Buendia and Wilson will not do . £35 m well spent . With the balance I would not buy Gvardiol . We don't need a left sided CB, we have Coops, Pascal, Davis and Casey . We actually need cover for Koch as to pull over KP or Ayling would severely weaken us and we only have young Charlie Cresswell . I would also use our last loan spot for an experienced keeper and send Kiko the clown on his merry way .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 16 Sep 2020 09:51:09
I agree currie I think De Paul and maybe a natural poacher striker and a good solid centre back would complete it for me but what do I know. If I knew half as much as bielsa I’d be making a hell of a lot more money than I do as mere mortal.

2.) 16 Sep 2020 09:59:55
RHC, I absolutely agree with you. From the stats I have seen this guy is the sort of player we should be looking at for our club.
I don't know the guys psychology but the number of assists and goals suggests he is a forward looking player, but the number of defensive contributions and won tackles must suggest he rolls his sleeves up and gets stuck in too. A SIDE BEFORE SELF attitude in my opinion. Perfect for the small close squad that Bielsa is seemingly trying to create. A bit of Klich, mixed with a bit of Pablo, and a dash of Kalvin.

And at this point I agree with one of Bermo's recent posts in which he alludes to using Pablo more effectively. At the moment he is are one true 'playmaker'. Having Gotts, Stevens and Shackleton on the bench doesn't give up that like for like player (yet! ) . Having a central midfield four of De Paul, Henandez, Klich and Phillips gives us the option of 2 DMs, 2 No8s, and 2 'playmakers' off international quality.

And finally Ester.

The young Croatian centre back.

If a youngster doesn't have the desire to pit himself against some of the best forwards in the world, doesn't have the desire to be coached by a recognised world best coach. Then maybe his mindset is not right for Leeds Utd or the Premier League no matter how good his physical attributes seem to be.

3.) 16 Sep 2020 10:28:04
Good post Axe except the part about ' shock jock ' Berm. as in his two recent posts he alludes to selling Pablo to a championship team. blasphemy!

I take it Axe that is not your thinking of using Pablo ' more effectively '

4.) 16 Sep 2020 14:00:17
sage words Axe. Agreed.

14 Sep 2020 05:36:17
After watching Spurs v Everton, two mediocre teams sending me to sleep . Nothing to fear there guys and they will both probably be top half . But Jose has managed to create a top five as Spurs are woeful with no passion or intensity regardless of it being the first game . Further thoughts on Saturday . I'm thinking against the top 5, unless we can get in some one like De Paul at ten who also has a love for the defensive side of the game , that Pablo or Roberts are luxuries we can't afford as when we don't have the ball, they don't get stuck in . This puts too much pressure on Klich and KP and led to our midfield being too easily by passed and our defense exposed to runners . So may be we move Klich to ten and draft in Shackleton in these games where we will have less of the ball?

RedhotCurrie

1.) 14 Sep 2020 05:48:43
RHC Klich is not a 10, but a very good number 8. You're wrong to dismiss Roberts who will probably improve and we were playing against the champions. We will fare better against lesser sides.

2.) 14 Sep 2020 06:44:09
Tyler is a good player and still learning

Pablo has been magnificent. He earned enough respect surely not to be written off after one PM game

Leave decisions to MB and enjoy the ride

By this look of it the boss sees baby shacks as a player than can fill any midfield position and FB but more often number 8

Trust the process.

3.) 14 Sep 2020 07:25:14
I like Roberts a lot and love Pablo . My point is in certain games against the very top teams when we are not in possession, they offer very little . So there is an argument for stiffening the midfield by adding Shackleton alongside Klich and Phillips in those games .

4.) 14 Sep 2020 07:29:23
Rhc, . very premature. calling spuds a mediocre team, that's just down to Maureen he will be gone by xmas, they are a proper outfit being used horribly currently, that will change.

5.) 14 Sep 2020 09:06:46
By the way it’s not like we haven’t set up that way before . First ten or so games last season . He played a midfield three of KP, Forshaw and Klich . I was frustrated with it as Forshaw duplicated KP’s role . Forshaw offered little going forward and we struggled against teams who sat back . But I’m advocating Shack in the Forshaw role who has more invention and only against the better sides in the division who will come at us hard . I can see MB doing something similar .

6.) 14 Sep 2020 10:23:35
There’s no denying Liverpool were by far the best team in the country last year . No teams except Man City and Chelsea managed to scored 3 or more goals against them in the league, so how about judging our team on the 3 goals we scored and not on the how a couple of players were not as influential as usual, if they was we would have won by 3 goals, football has never been that simple . So why not enjoy the ride and not dissecting every performance . At least wait till the season settles down a bit and we know where we are instead of saying this player and that player can’t cut it after playing the runaway league winners .

7.) 14 Sep 2020 10:41:23
Raggity did you actually read my posts?! No one is saying a player or players can’t cut it . This is a banter sight where opinions and tactics are meant to be discussed . My point is Tyler and Pablo are at their best when on the ball and we are dominating teams . Also for that matter when we are counter attacking in transition . But there may be times in the season like Saturday, when we are losing the midfield battle and they become dispensable .

8.) 14 Sep 2020 20:11:17
Red agreed, the question should be asked can we continue to play like that all season with a very small group, I am not sure we can, we start very well but then it drops off.

9.) 14 Sep 2020 22:40:42
very sensible posts in my opinion

Liverpool are a great team but have not been good since project restart. They conceded three at home twice on the bounce now for the first time since 76! so as good as we were to score three. so was the last team they played at Anfield.

no doubt we can play but soft goals (free kicks) and getting over run will cost us. losing 4-3 to Liverpool made us proud but what if we start losing 4-3 to spurs or worsts West Ham?

yes we won't concede two pens every game but we will concede corners and high balls. we also will not score with 100% of our shots like we did against liverpool

I love Pablo but can't see him doing much at his age in this league (he is a Demi god but even they age) and Tyler great prospect but as some say a bit of a luxury player

we need stiffer and more resilient midfield or we will concede every week.

I know I bang the kp drum but all will admit he is slow so him with pablo must be (a very talented midfield) but the slowest in the league by far. and that will cost goals every week. for me Shacks has to play or put Kp in pablo role with Stuijk in dm role with a better Cb than Cooper

without doing either of these things I fail to see many weeks where we won't concede at least two goals. and needing to score three every week to pick up three points is a dangerous game.

10.) 14 Sep 2020 23:12:01
Berm When do you address the 🐘 in the room?

11.) 15 Sep 2020 11:39:06
my wife George. I address her all the time.

13 Sep 2020 07:13:46
Abiding thoughts from yesterday . Probably the one injury we could not afford just prior to Liverpool was Coops, exposing an untried and inexperienced combination at centre back both of whom were culpable for two set piece concessions which we really shouldn't be offering at this level . I also thought that we got out muscled and out fought in midfield where only Klich and KP were at it in the dirty parts of the game . Needed more support from Pablo who had a very quiet game by his standards and the wingers who admittedly were much better when on the ball . Positives many : Obviously we will improve at the heart of defence MB will see to that irrespective of new additions . We didn't look out of place in the prem where Bielsa ball was alive and kicking and for once we took our chances . The Klich goal was a thing of beauty and Costa played his part in that . NB : Looking forward to Meslier improving his distribution . Never quite seen the exocets we saw on his debut at Arsenal since . NBB : We still need strengthening in midfield . De Paul please who can do the dirty defensive side as well as create not Kent, Wilson or Benrahma . And we need a seasoned centre back not the Croat kid no matter how good he looks on you tube or what he might be worth in two years time .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 13 Sep 2020 08:38:23
Good post RHC, but if we do buy “ the Croat kid” I think it’ll be for now not the future.

2.) 13 Sep 2020 12:12:01
Get Gvordial over the line, plus Pabs cover, and we are the real deal. We scared the doodoo outta the champions, and we will do a lot more against the lesser teams. Can’t wait to batter Man U at OT! 🤣🤣🤣.

05 Sep 2020 19:44:54
So MB will have about 3 days after these ridiculous nations league games to prepare the full squad for Liverpool.

I think the midfield and attack pretty much picks itself if everyone is fit with Rodrigo on the bench at best. But who is he going to pick at the back.

In particular who will partner Cooper. Very unlike MB to stick Koch in there after a few days training. So that leaves a straight choice between right footers Ollie Casey or Luke Ayling. Hobson's choice in my view.

He can't debut Casey no matter how much potential at Liverpool away can he? So that leaves Ayling who has never looked comfortable at CB and means switching Dallas to right back and playing in all likelihood Douglas at left back who I think will get the nod over Alioski who would have only just got back from the internationals.

So a makeshift back for for our return to the big time and away to Liverpool of all games . Shame .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 05 Sep 2020 19:55:52
I expect he'll break a habit and go with Koch.
Other option could be KP with Struijk taking the DM.
I'm sure the boss has a plan.

2.) 05 Sep 2020 20:19:27
He's Marcelo Bielsa, he does what he wants.

3.) 05 Sep 2020 20:38:32
The first statement is the most pertinent in my mind Currie! These internationals are utterly ridiculous, particularly in the current situation that the sport faces. Totally shambolic!

4.) 05 Sep 2020 22:27:46
RHC I can see Bielsa putting Koch in straight away no bedding in time baptism of 🔥. Koch will learn on the job. Let's hope he doesn't blow his chance and balls it up.

Would be an absolutely sensational signing he’s one of the best attacking midfield players in the world . Can play as a ten or 8 or even out wide .

Hess the writing is already well and truly on the wall and one result will not change it . This January window is looking like turning out like many others unless the three amigos pull their fingers out sharpish . But the rumoured structuring of the Bowen deal with the major part of the outlay contingent on promotion just smacks that they have learnt zilch from the DJ fiasco . They are either naive or arrogant or probably a bit of both . Latest updates suggest they are still not giving up on Adams and Gray but again that also appears like lessons have not been learnt . Supposedly there’s a foreign guy who MB rates and Sharp as the two back up options .

If he plays a ten it has to be TR if Pablo isn’t fit as he’s the one who will press the most effectively when we not in possession . Bamford is needed to lead the line and Rodrigo is needed to warm the bench .

Yes George and that’s £60m spent on three very poor first team signings . Rodrigo I 100% agree with you on . He’s a luxury player unsuited to our style . Would have preferred Watkins even at the price Villa paid . Llorente, Sociedad fans are doing cartwheels in the streets with the thought he’s leaving for nearly £20 m ( no pace, one footed and gives away pens with even more largesse than Koch ) and Koch may come good but after his 2 appearances and culpable for three goals jury is out .

Phil Hay is on record that Bielsa has the final say on all recruitment . But he doesn’t negotiate the deals . He’s clearly approved De Paul for example who would make a massive difference at both ends of the pitch and I just think we are trying to be too clever in trying to save a few million quid when we need him badly as TR ain’t up to it and Pablo can’t be relied on for every game .

Spanish I always admire your calmness but that was a reality check about our strength in depth surely . I appreciate that was a scratch team but really no one looked ready for the first team . I disagree about Poveda . First half he was awful . Second half probably our best player but that’s not saying much and he was far too easily brushed off the ball . In the prem that would lead to quick transition and goals against us . I’ve already commented about TR and KC, but what about Shack? He couldn’t defend to save his life . A far cry from his performance at full back two seasons ago against Swansea . What happens if Ayling gets injured? Looks like he’s gone backwards to me . Bogusz also not ready to fill Klichy’s boots, trying to do too much and rarely coming off . Bottom line what happens if we lose three key long term injuries . We are sunk!
