Heard on the radio today that Villa are paying 40 grand a week to get players Wow no wonder we can't compete with that. Good job we're not famous anymore
Wouldn't want to buy success would we.

TREV

1.) 19 Jan 2017 20:10:29
Heard that as well Trev, couldn't believe it. Villa must have Risdale as a negotiation skills adviser and the player must have Seth Johnson's agent. Or they must be panicking as they are languishing in mid table, thought sh*t we best spend use those parachute payments before we go down to league 1 and 'do a Leeds. '

2.) 20 Jan 2017 01:23:12
And don't forget that Villa are the team that everyone wants to beat! (according to Steve Bruce)

3.) 20 Jan 2017 10:54:55
We're not competing with villa their miles behind us

4.) 20 Jan 2017 14:05:37
I wouldn't be so sure about that. If they got on a roll under Steve Bruce then it could be a potential play off game. I don't see Reading or Huddersfield lasting the pace. But if we play like we did against Derby for the rest of the season we'll be champions, this I have no doubts about.

A lot of talk about Sharp coming on loan?
I`m sure a few years ago he said he would never play for Leeds!
Can`t remember exactly, but I wouldn`t hold my breath waiting for him.

TREV

1.) Dont want him, not good enough

2.) Agree with the opening reply, only ever been a success at donny, done not a lot else at Sheffiled united in 2 spells, southampton and forest.

3.) 16 Sep 2013 20:21:26
Warlock once said he was the best finisher he had ever seen at blunts so that says it all, I would rather see Poleon or Lewis Walters become a regular starter than waste wages on another mercenary.

4.) Ha ha, warnock once said that Alan Smith was the best finisher at the club! agree, avoid sharp, let him go to a crap club like Ipswich or summink MOT

5.) I think you re right, I think he even said he didn t like Leeds, or worse. If its true, don't want him. MOT

Just a shocking performance.
Not a good start to the season.

TREV

1.) 29 Aug 2021 15:52:53
Woeful Trev, seriously how some posters are saying we don't need strengthening is mind boggling, shacks is like sending a scrum half into the front row of a scrum . Not a Prem player yet, then there's Tyler? Big up the support today though .

2.) 29 Aug 2021 16:48:43
Nobody has said we don't need strengthening, they have said if we can't afford it we shouldn't.

3.) 29 Aug 2021 17:51:54
Yes I have been told we don't need strengthening, I was told we have Helder +rodri a few times

Call me a moan, but I do believe we are to lightweight and it could backfire.

15 Aug 2021 18:51:11
What a joke
Has Pep learned nothing from last season.
Only bringing in Grealish for a measly 100 million.
Men against boys today. I predict a relegation battle. I’d take 17th right now.

Sound familiar?
One game doesn’t make or break a season. Always some odd results first few games.
We’ll do just fine. Trust me 😆.

Back to liking yer own posts again Mr Integrity.

Come on guys.
We are only 3 points off the top.
Level with Man City.
Time to push on for that euro spot.
I’m still behind the team and management. Trying to find my shorts for a spell in the hot tub!

TREV

1.) 15 Aug 2021 17:48:51
Hot tub is full Trev! Lol! And no budgie smugglers! 👀.

11 Aug 2021 17:59:55
I just don’t get all this weaker squad nonsense.
We can assume to have a fit llorente Koch Rodrigo now all integrated into the team ethos.
Rafinia as well.
Plus a dedicated left back of quality.
Last ten games last season with this squad fit we were easily top 6 team.
Now we may get injuries or 2 nd season woes but we haven’t kicked a ball yet and I for one am very optimistic of our chances. Bielsa knows what he’s doing He wouldn’t be here if he thought he wasn’t getting support. Forshaw might surprise us and I think we will get O’Brien.
A good season coming and a secure financial footing (unlike some) . What’s not to like?

TREV

1.) 11 Aug 2021 19:57:24
Exactly my thoughts Trev, why all the pessimism before a ball has even been kicked! Yes we may get injuries, but also the world might end mid season as well!
I think a happy squad is much more important than a top heavy squad! I think we have some quality young players who have to step up at some point! Me I would like to trust in the guys who have got us to this point and some financial stability is very important! Spot on Trev.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 20:58:04
It's not pessimistic lads it's called game management . We are short cover in critical areas of the field that's undeniable .

The U23 myth has been peddled out for a good few seasons now but all to very very little avail as very little comes through

The window is open and now is / was the time to plan for a very very long season .

Not wait for something to happen then scramble to try and fix it .

3.) 11 Aug 2021 22:42:06
Agree Chris, if bamford, raphi or Phillips injured, we will struggle and don’t have fantastic replacements.
Rodrigo not a striker nor is Roberts, don’t think Koch a great DMF, I do rate him at CB.

4.) 12 Aug 2021 00:25:03
Chris - if we had not been promoted, a fair number of the u23s would already be in the first team squad, as they were recruited to play at that level. Some of the longer-established u23s will still make the required grade for our first team in the Prem, but not as quickly. Unfortunately, many of them will not, and they will be found appropriate clubs to further their football career at a level appropriate to their current standard. Some of these may still make the Prem in due course, as for example Ayling did with us having been released by Arsenal aged 18.

Given that we were promoted, there has a step-change in the quality of new recruits brought into the u23s. All of these players have apparently been chosen with the general expectation that they will be fully Prem-ready after a couple of seasons - the pattern being u23 in first season, some meaningful first team gametime in second and full member of squad after that. One or two may be fast-tracked a little, as may be the case with Lewis Bate.

5.) 12 Aug 2021 08:24:31
Chris

If Bamford gets injured then Rodrigo can play

If Raphinha gets injured then Costa can play

If Phillips gets injured then Koch/ Struik can play.

I don't see all this fascination by the myopic brigade with bringing in player after player after player? If they are better than what we have then, happy days. But if all they are is cover then your spouting on about expensive drivel. Who is going to come here to sit on the bench unless they are young, up and coming, and have time to play the long game.

Mshuter. Rodrigo is not a striker! . really?
I guess you need to have a word with the Spanish international manager about that. You seem to know more than quite a few UEFA B licenced managers on that one.

6.) 12 Aug 2021 09:04:14
Clue, my case in point would be Bogusz 2 pre seasons back he was on fire and was a banker to make the transition into 1st team . Fast forward to today he couldn't be further from a bielsa 1st team.

There are lots of others also with the same story .

Regardless of us being promoted if those lads were good enough they would have made the step up . Yet the majority won't really make it at Leeds when all's said + done .

IMO we really are playing a risky game if we leave our transfer biz as it currently stands.

7.) 12 Aug 2021 10:14:21
Axe you are just typing out names to fill in a sentence .

Seriously you genuinely believe Rodrigo will turn into a 15- 20 scorer this year?

And you believe Costa is on a par with Raph

If you answer yes to any of those 2, I am not even going to waste my time .

Costa = expensive drivel.

8.) 12 Aug 2021 11:27:38
Axe, He is not a out and out goal scorer, how many did he score last season
We need a forward that can get 15-25 goals to push bamford and before u say that bielsa didn’t play him as a striker, that answers it.

Just to fuel the debate!
If Grealish was in the same position as Kalvin would he have thrown himself to the floor at the first challenge?
Well done Phillips for staying on your feet, riding the challenge and superb pass. That’s how to do it.

TREV

1.) 14 Jun 2021 11:12:24
Spot on Trev

Furthermore unlike with the vast majority of clueless / useless / gullible and inept English EPL refs

Grealish diving and cheating simply would not wash with the superior intelligence and standards of these International UEFA refs at this tournament.

Grealish much more likely to get booked with his cheating at the highest standards international level, as it should be for all levels I might add.

I do believe Southgate doesn't start him for that reason amongst others.

2.) 14 Jun 2021 12:57:57
Baz you make a good point - standard of refereeing has been very good so far I think and lots of ignoring the screaming yelping dives and waving play on. Bravo refs so far (although don’t remember it being so good in the various European club championships this season which would presumably have the same refs in it, so maybe an edict has gone out to the refs? ) .

3.) 14 Jun 2021 14:06:45
I noticed (or at least thought I did) that he had reduced his diving in the last warm up game as the ref wasn't falling for it (no pun intended) , but then he 'won' the penalty!
I make no excuse for disliking him for it but really the refs are largely to blame in the EPL for buying it. It has become the norm unfortunately.

Henry would want to be at Leeds. Taylor doesn't
Cooke was decent in last seasons shite team.
You need to get your head out off your backside.
I've seen some poor Leeds teams in the last 45 years. But I for one think the squad as a whole looks much stronger.
Taylor won't win us promotion. Someone like Roofe or Hernandez could.
Home grown doesn't mean world class.
Cooke 1 goal and a few assists. WOW
good at running forward and then running out of ideas.
We are a better team now. Can't wait for season to start.

I watched Fulham last night and came to the conclusion that not one of that team will play in Prem next season.

Comes from the best era of boxing when every fight was epic. Hagler v Leonard best fight I have ever seen.
