I see the QSI takeover has reared it's head again. Apparently a ยฃ120M takeover is in the offing sooner rather than later, (from a source) .
Don't know if it Heinz or HP?

1.) 31 Mar 2020 16:58:26
hopefully Heinz.

2.) 01 Apr 2020 09:00:39
Daddies for me. (Or is that a different subject!? ) ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

3.) 01 Apr 2020 12:54:06
Bring out the branston.

4.) 01 Apr 2020 15:13:57
cant see anywhere near ยฃ120M though unless that is if we are promoted. ยฃ80M maybe.

06 Nov 2019 08:27:01
The QSI takeover link seems to be popping it's head up again. The thing is whenever it happens no-one seems to deny it.

08 Jul 2019 21:59:01
Pontus gone then!
Maybe we'll never know the real reason, but just been reading that Monk dropped him for the good of the team. I'd forgotten about that.
Hopefully we have someone better lined up. New kit out tomorrow, so you never know? ๐Ÿ™.

1.) 09 Jul 2019 06:10:00
Heโ€™s one man and no man is bigger than lufc.

2.) 09 Jul 2019 07:37:22
Pontus has come out and said it's to balance the books for ffp, as to it this is true or not, who knows. Not like he is going to admit that it's down to his attitude and why we not held out for a better price of we need the money. How can a team like Brentford pay him upwards of ยฃ30k baffles me.

3.) 09 Jul 2019 15:23:33
Is Pontus spinning it?

He is not lying about the "FFP need" if Leeds need his transfer fee in order to pay for the new centre back they had identified prior to his sale.

It feels like Jansson's behaviour at the tail end of the season may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. The powers that be may have already looked and identified a more team orientated centre back

Looking at the management's track record they tend to sell before they buy (Viera before Bamford; Clarke before Costa) .

So I put to you, the jury, Pontus had to leave as soon as possible even if we lost a couple of million over a projected fee. We need his money in order to secure his successor. Otherwise someone else may get in before us.

As a business model I can understand it works well for businesses with limited capital, making best use of the cash flow model.

4.) 09 Jul 2019 20:27:55
Good post Axe.

18 Jun 2019 13:58:43
More talk on Clarke to Tottenham today. Looks like it could be happening. TBH I'd be happy with ยฃ20m for him. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him to go, but I don't see him being a player that is vital to getting us promoted.

1.) 18 Jun 2019 14:44:07
I tend to agree unless he features more than he did last season. He made an impact before Christmas when he was coming on but then after his mysterious illness (some kind of disagreement with the club perhaps after the Jan window? ) early Feb he barely played. Do we really have 3/ 4 years to develop him or do we need players who can make a difference right now?

2.) 18 Jun 2019 17:12:31
20MIL? Two 10mill wingers in his place. Go for it.

3.) 18 Jun 2019 18:34:55
ยฃ10m needed every year just to balance the books

ยฃ5 in reserve for fees, wages, taxes

ยฃ5m to spend on players.

4.) 18 Jun 2019 18:57:38
Sorry but I don't wanna see Clarke go. Seen too many of our youngsters go in the past and now we have a manager that believes in youth. Bad move for me! Saying that we might loan him back maybe?

5.) 18 Jun 2019 20:37:55
ยฃ20m for a young player with flashes of talent but not proven consistently is good business. Indeed, in games when he came back late in the season looked ineffective at times.

If it happens tho, Radz needs to notably adapt his 'loans and free agents only' mantra. That won't fly following (if this goes through) the club's second biggest transfer fee after Rio. Don't expect or want to break the bank, however especially don't want to see 1 yr loans bust this hopeful investment on a 1 yr promotion folly if we don't make it.

CB possibly Ben White (buy now not loan) Costa (buy) a second winger maybe Harrison given how much Bielsa seems to rate him (buy) and a central attacking playmaker with a killer pass to replace what we lost from Saiz leaving.

Sell, loan or in must desperate mutually terminate those doing nothing for the club (Ideguichi - looks nearly done - Saiz, Sacko, Cibicki, O'Kane, Anita, De Bock) . Jury out on if Casilla is leaving or not.

Use that to give new contracts to those deserving of them Roofe springs to mind (and purchase a new keeper if we do indeed sell Casilla) = fair.

6.) 18 Jun 2019 22:17:18
Mysterious illness? Stop talking nonsense.

7.) 19 Jun 2019 08:55:25
What was it then Cork?

8.) 19 Jun 2019 09:24:02
Ealing, spot on.

9.) 19 Jun 2019 22:00:17
Sorry I thought you were saying he was pretending to be ill! My mistake and I apologize.

23 Apr 2019 08:05:23
IMO there are 3 people to blame for us not being in the top 2 at this stage. (Samu Saiz) , (whoever allowed him to leave) and (whoever cocked up the Daniel James transfer) .
I believe a fit, on form, committed Saiz would have gained us the few extra points needed. Someone should have told him to man up, remind his wife/ girlfriend he was a professional footballer when she met him and this is how it is.
Failing this I believe the signing of James would have gained us the extra points and impetus needed. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ .

1.) 23 Apr 2019 09:56:45
Not sure on the Samu comment Dan but totally with you on the James situation.

2.) 23 Apr 2019 10:33:52
How often was Saiz fit and on form though? we should have binned him when he spat at the Newport lad. As for James, seems to me that it was Swansea's fault, I don't claim to know the ins and outs of it but if the lad was at ER and ready to sign but Swansea changed their mind what can you do?

3.) 23 Apr 2019 10:51:57
Saiz didnโ€™t fit! He was lucky to be around after the spitting incident and never repaid us for sticking by him. Look at what has happened to him at Getafe, hardly taken the opportunity he had so desperately wanted has he! On his day, talented player but too few days and I suspect always on his terms. When you compare Hernadez, the man with Saiz, you see the difference!

James ultimately didnโ€™t come because the Swansea Chairman ignored his owners instructions and then resigned before he was sacked. Not sure what we could have done to revive it as he wasnโ€™t taking calls and would probably still have ignored instructions! I think on deadline day everybody closely involved bar the Swansea chairman thought it was all sorted!

4.) 23 Apr 2019 12:45:35
Danum Agree totally but the person solely responsible for both failures is Radz. Regarding Saiz, very difficult to resolve, a bit like Brexit but I would've only permitted him to go at the end of the season. As for James, Radz knew all along the proposed transfer was dubious because of the Chairman at the time. Had Radz offered the money up front, the Chairman would've relented. I think you'll find what actually cost us this season ultimately is Radz's money problems (this caused the poor structure of the failed James acquisition) from his tv rights debacle. Radz naive. If we don't get promoted via the playoffs, wouldn't surprise me to see Radz' true colours. Him selling up and Bub leaving. We've paid the consequences this season for Radz' mistakes when it all should've been so different.

5.) 23 Apr 2019 12:55:32
Spaniard Saiz did fit albeit only just. What he did at Newport wrong but he became a highly effective ball carrier which aided our overall play. He did need resting more frequently, as did other players but letting him leave was dumb and has cost us an automatic promotion and a diminution in his transfer value. As for James, you are right but miss the point. Radz knew this dynamic but failed to react and take decisive action. His tv rights debacle meant he couldn't restructure the deal to Jenkins liking so Jenkins put his foot down. If we fail in the playoffs (likely) I won't be surprised to see Radz sell.

6.) 23 Apr 2019 13:27:07
Guess we will never know. Not sure I follow your logic with James, Radz and everyone else thought the deal was done, why need to renegotiate anything. By the time it became apparent, too late. In my opinion Saiz is only good if he wants to play and even then when he has been given the opportunity he wanted in Spain, he hasnโ€™t delivered. But itโ€™s all in the past, we could have had both of them and still ended up where we are, who knows.

I think you might be more right about Bielsa going on then Radz in the short term, depends who is willing to buy and not buy. Not sure Bielsa will have the energy to go again or the players to go with him unless he can show how he has learned and that he really has the resources he wants.

Letโ€™s hope it doesnโ€™t come to that. How was your Easter you were very quiet on here!

7.) 23 Apr 2019 13:53:08
Spanish Not good! Very depressed about losing to Wigan. There's other personal carp I'm going through right now. An Easter to forget!

8.) 23 Apr 2019 13:58:52
Spanish Radz and American counterparts at Swans thought, no hoped deal was done. They knew all along about Jenkins. Jenkins was the one who told McBurnie he's going nowhere. There was however a chink of light with Jenkins. He was passionate about protecting financial interests of Swans so informed everyone he'll only sanction deal if virtually all money paid up front. You know the outcome.

9.) 23 Apr 2019 14:32:59
Thatโ€™s interesting stuff George. Hopefully Radz will learn from it! Sorry to hear your news. The personal stuff can help keep the football in perspective but the football can also provide some much needed relief at time. When both are bad, itโ€™s not good! Feeling for you!

10.) 23 Apr 2019 17:01:17
Spaniard Thanks. Please bear in mind Radz economic with the truth. He said afterward "we did everything they asked". Yes, in a way he's right. Problem is he didn't do everything that EVERYONE asked, ie Jenkins.

11.) 23 Apr 2019 19:17:06
James was supposed to be Bielsa's number 1 target, so why did we not try to get the deal done early in the Window? Radz and his sidekick Kinnear have always been economical with the truth. Remember last close season when Kinnear was on a Season Ticket Sales Drive and he was telling us how many millions we had to spend as well as the 10 million from the 49rs. What happened to all that?

12.) 23 Apr 2019 22:34:39
Swansea were always trying to hold on to their key players and only sell as much as they needed. I suspect that James was the last one that they wanted to go and from memory he wasnโ€™t the only deal that fell through on the final day once they had what they needed. In the end it worked out for them, they have benefited from his play and they should get a much better fee for him, so you can see why they did it.

13.) 23 Apr 2019 22:57:04
Spanish The "they" you refer to was Jenkins on his own. He left the following day. James' increase in value via goalscoring displays prove he was right. The benefactors, Swansea, are merely lucky as "they" intended quite the reverse, his sale.

I'm getting really p#ssed off with this working from home b#llocks.
I mean, before this virus started I didn't even have a job! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

Apparently the Adidas deal is still happening, but if we don't go up the kit will only have two stripes! ๐Ÿ˜‰.

15 Mar 2020 09:15:43
If you think about it from a non partisan point of view, the best thing to do, would be to void this season and hopefully start a new season in August.
I fear this is what will be decided in this week's meeting, due to the fact that only the teams with a chance of winning their leagues, or getting promoted would vote to carry on. Relegation threatened clubs would definitely vote to void the season and the rest would see it as the right thing to do.
It's not fair, but I'm afraid getting this virus sorted is bigger than wether we go up this season or not.
MOT. Whatever happens!

1.) 15 Mar 2020 09:54:32
Is this virus any worse than a common flu.

2.) 15 Mar 2020 11:35:11
According to the WHO flu killed between 290000 to 650000 last year.

3.) 15 Mar 2020 11:41:14
Doubt if they will void it, how do we decide then who goes into European competitions from PL. They need to make the fairest decision now. Void it and nothing is solved.

4.) 15 Mar 2020 13:22:24
Trouble is no one knows how this pandemic will play out. Only thing we have to go no is what is happening now where it first started China and the East Asian region. If reports are true then the virus first became a problem there in December and the number of cases are slowing, South Korea saying they are seeing less cases each day as people are starting to recover. Reports are that Britain is weeks behind other regions including mainland Europe, so we can expect the next couple of months to become worse here. So just maybe this season doesn't get finished before the next is due to start.
Personally I think we should finish this season even if it means we miss out the rest of this year and finish the remaining games from this time next year. Maybe this will allow the population of this planet time to recover from the virus and socially everything recover. Just saying null and void this season is wrong, either finish the season at a later date or allow teams with games in hand play them behind closed doors.

5.) 15 Mar 2020 13:46:09
It would seem sensible to go a version of the system likely to be adopted in Germany with promotion of top two in each league and no relegation. It would actually make some kind of sense for the other teams in the playoff positions to go with this. I think someone on here has already pointed out that with no teams coming down from the Prem with parachute payments, the teams just missing out this season would likely be best placed to take the three places available next year. If the season is played through to conclusion, they'd be likely to be fighting for one place this year and could have three stronger relegated teams (for example Norwich, Bournemouth and Villa) potentially blocking their path to promotion next time around.

6.) 15 Mar 2020 17:15:05
Richie. Are you sure it's a good idea to get your medical information from a 60s rock band?

14 Mar 2020 08:47:19
If it's true that you can't catch Corona virus twice and it's fatal to only the elderly and those with underlying health issues, then why not let all professional footballers catch it. They would be slightly ill, then better within a fortnight. They could then play matches behind closed doors and get the season finished. Sounds simple I know, but I can't think why this wouldn't work?

1.) 14 Mar 2020 09:19:45
It's not only the elderly who die. Just the highest percentage. Plus it's the fans, the staff at football grounds and thousands of others in the chain that would also be affected. It's not confirmed yet that you cannot get it twice.

2.) 14 Mar 2020 14:27:40
Alf. That's why I said play behind closed doors. You could also keep the players together for a couple of weeks. I just think if something like this isn't done, (not just in football but in the population in general) then this thing could go on, and on, and on.

3.) 14 Mar 2020 16:15:07
Danum, footballers are people mate, you can't purposely infect them with something that kills 3% of people who get it, just to complete a football season.

4.) 14 Mar 2020 19:50:47
Why, how many fit 18 to 35 year olds have died. Healthy people have a cough and a temperature for a couple of days.

5.) 14 Mar 2020 21:13:09
Just the ones at ode Trafford then?

6.) 15 Mar 2020 06:30:58
0.2% of people in that age bracket die.

13 Mar 2020 12:31:12
I just can't believe the EFL have the wherewithal and sophistication to produce a worldwide virus just to stop us getting promoted!
(This is the conspiracy site isn't it Ed? ) ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰.

{Ed001's Note - they had help from those who wanted to stop Liverpool finally winning the Premier League....}
