Went to the game yesterday- birthday present for today, . we simply should have won that game. It reminded me of the game at home v Brighton, where we were awful and they looked like a premier league side - exempt this time the other ways round. Ultimately, Blackburn battled to stay in the game and played better than us for 5mins of the 90. We need to be more ruthless and stop the schoolboy errors. The penalty should have been a red card for 'simulation' - appalling. BUT, we played better than we have for years, its coming, and if we play like that the whole of the remainder of the season, we will finish in the middle, a good place to build from next year. Ultimately, we may as well be 4th from bottom as 7th- as long as don't go down, we are going in right direction. Who knows, may suddenly start a run and zoom up- hope so.

{Ed003's Note - Happy birthday.}

Do we need a defensive coach like Richard Naylor? Or at least someone who teaches the goalkeeper to communicate with the defence.

2.) 23 Nov 2014 23:40:32
Great post drummer, agree 100%

3.) I stayed up till 1am following game on leeds live score text site. I was happy till bout 12.30. So. Most are saying we were crap in second half and outplayed. U saying we were good. Redders saying he was happy with performance as well i'm bit confused. I would have thiught being 1-0 against 10 men should mean 3 points. Redders obviously ok with nil points!?

4.) 24 Nov 2014 19:34:36
Redders ok with nil points?, silly billy Aus. Trust me mate we played well but 2 shockers cost us. Agree 100% with Redders summary MOT

5.) Ausman, whenever we win or loose we are brilliant or doomed respectively- I think it's about being realistic, not knee jerk. The team is better than it was, the club is healthier than it was, with a passionate guy in charge, albeit somewhat 'maverick'. The style of play is better, but has holes in it, namely youth, strength of depth in squad, width etc. all of which Redfearn is aware of and working on, and can be solved, nay will. A team as poor as ours was can't be turned around overnight, but Cellino has tried, and almost done it, just not yet. I know it's rediculous to say it, but, if Adryian had scored when there keeper made the save of the season, if aunt Lucy had scored, if Cooper spoke Italian and agreed with Sylvestri to clear the ball and ref wasn't a mug, we would have won that game 3-0, which is in fact a fair reflection of the game, and Leeds would be title contenders. In other words, if 3 minutes played out different. but if is a big word. That stuff didn't happen, ok, but to be doom and gloom is not the answer. I agree, Doukara looked done at 60 mins, and many around me were saying make a change- but I am sure Redfearn knows that he probably got that one thing wrong and let's see if he learns. He must have had his reasons. I agree, we need to sort out the errors, but I think they will, there's no choice but to do so. We are a long way from a bad team, but still a long way from a good one too, so keep the faith

6.) Great post drummer

7.) Feel better now
Hard cause I rarely see games so have to go on posts
I know we are in a lot better place since cellino took over

When was the last time we won on a Tuesday night? Great away win.

Having seen all the signings this transfer window, I can see why Cellino appointed Hockaday.
Think about it - he has had a limited time frame to buy a whole new team. In the meantime he needed someone to keep them fit and 'ticking along' until all the players are in place - a caretaker. You can change a coach / manager anytime and I think once the transfer window is closed and he has his players he will then make a move for the right man. Feeling more positive.

Noticed McAllister was sat watching last night a few seats to my left - work with or replace the hock?

thedrummistman

1.) I thought the problem last time was the players he had at Leeds last time did not have the ability to play how he wanted. Perhaps some of the players arriving from all over the place would have the technical ability to play McCallisters way, which was how he used to play! I seem to think he can spot a player too, Snodgrass, Bechio I think he signed. Though Hock really should get few games after transfer window has closed and he can choose his best 11 and play them for a few games.

2.) Gary Mac? no in my opinion hock is the worst manager we have ever had on paper (time will tell if that shows on the pitch) however I think no one can argue that gary mac was the worst manager we ever had on the pitch? our results under him were poor, he had no plan b and plan a wasn't bad, this was shown when simon grayson come in and showed what a real manager can do. That said gary mac had a great eye for a player but that don't matter with MC calling the shots with signings

Leeds to get David Moyes in Summer! Following the shambles at his previous employers, David Moyes, whom never needs work again, is unable to let go and wants to get back at them- just like Gordon Strachan did- and what better way than to go to LUFC and show them what they messed up. Some might think getting one of them in is not ideal, but I think its different getting the top man - the likes of Giles, Strachan and Moyes, verses lesser personnel like Kidd whom I think had a very de-stabilising effect when he was brought in to oust Eddy Grey ( big big mistake). this is different- he will want to show what he can do - and as he's been paid off, maybe we could afford him?

thedrummistman

1.) Id have no problems with that regardless of where he's came from!

2.) Not sure about Moyes. Did well at Everton but not as well as the next man in. After coming up against player power at MU he is now looking very old and broken. If he can put this lot behind him and wants to try in the championship with a club that's been through the mill could be a scoop.

3.) I'd have him. There is no doubt about his credentials and the fact that he ruined their season almost gives him God status amongst Leeds fans :)

4.) No thanks, not more hoofball!

One of my sons top 3 is Mcormack, Pearce and Mowatt- same reasons as I said save for Mowatt showing he can do it, albeit not as good a first season as Byram last year.

Player of year- for me. 1. Pearce, on the basis of giving everything, every game- not the best defender ever, but a team player etc.
2 Mcormack, for all the obvious reasons which will make him most other peoples no.1
3. Smith. On the basis that he has achieved everything if not more than expected for a free transfer on lowere end wages. He's still young, gives his all, has bagged a fair few goals, offered another option. No, he's not Lee Chapman, but.

Ed -How come my comment on this topic over an hour earlier was put into banter?
Not bothered by it, just wondering- as I see Rumours as the 'main site' whereas banter is a bit more 'secondary'? Either way, great site- love it- Thanks Ed

That's one of the ways GFH have taken money out- unless it was part of the severance payment to KB- as it appears they haven't paid anything for the club, just gave KB the ticket money, hence no income for last 2 years. Plus they are a bank, so charged interest = the loss! paid to them. It says income was £28m, but lost £9m?. Simply playing with numbers- GFHmade £9m, LUFC list £9m

A fair point, well made Axe man - I have no idea whether he would be good or bad- it can go either way, my point is just because we haven't heard of him before it doesn't mean he'll be bad, in the same way as someone who has been good before ( McDermott got Reading up you know- he didn't mention it much!) doesn't mean they'll do it again -
but I agree, if he was that good others would likely have been on to it by now - let's see.

A better example is a guy who no one had heard of who had been a second rate lower division goalie, who happened to speak Spanish and English so was doing some translation work for Bobby Robson- he's now regarded as one of the best in the world.unfortunately he's at Chelsea some 10-15 years later.

A key thing to remember is that it might not take many additional players, plus existing ones to find form to completely change things round. If Ross doesn't play, we all think the team can't play- that's how much difference one player can make- so just a couple of extra players who are good enough can make a huge difference. Also, note Ross played 19 games without scoring and loads of people said he was useless- now look at his worth to the team. So, with a proper pre season, maybe Stewart or Hunt could be different players, similarly, Murphy and Smith are improving no end- as are Byram and Mowatt- so maybe, just maybe, we don't need a whole new team, just a few key signings and for some continuity and confidence from a good pre season and start to the new season. positive is the way!
