Just spent best part of an hour watching keepers, and I reckon Illan Meslier and Emi Martínez are the two best keepers in the prem.

villadave

1.) 06 Jul 2021 00:25:45
Martinez was excellent last season. Good buy.

2.) 06 Jul 2021 04:15:20
Yeah Martinez decent gk to be fair the Vile have a history of decent gks, Jimmy Rimmer, Nigel Spink, John Burridge.

3.) 06 Jul 2021 05:35:07
Ederson? Allison?

4.) 06 Jul 2021 09:45:27
After Allison’s howlers last season he’s well down the list, kudos to him for that goal though it was a cracker and any center forward would of being proud of it. ederson very good in fairness but would he be as good in a lesser team like meslier and Martinez have being, after watching France in the euros I’d be very surprised if melier does not get his chance soon, lloris (excuse my spelling) was awful.

5.) 06 Jul 2021 10:15:56
Martinez is an outstanding keeper. Villa were lucky picking him up, on two counts. Firstly, that Arsenal let him go - whilst Leno is good, I’d prefer Martinez. Secondly, that Bielsa/ Orta fully trusted in Meslier - there’s not many who would have bet on someone so young and inexperienced (particularly with Kiko as only backup) - as otherwise we would have blown Villa out of the water with a bid of our own. If he’d been given the option, there’s no way Martinez would have turned down the chance to come to Leeds as first choice keeper under Bielsa.

6.) 06 Jul 2021 10:26:47
If meslier can get rid of the distribution howlers he will be amazing. Still so young but also played for France u21s this summer so definitely in their plans. Lloris has been in decline for a while now so surely his time must be limited at the top.

7.) 06 Jul 2021 11:24:41
Good though Meslier undoubtedly is, he is certainly not a shoo-in for France’s no1 once Lloris hangs up his international gloves. Mike Maignan at Lille and Alban Lafont, who has been ahead of Meslier for the u21’s when available, may currently be ahead of him.

8.) 06 Jul 2021 11:45:32
All Goalkeepers have bad days, unfortunately everyone remembers the howlers, strikers can't miss 3 sitters and no one bats an eye, but of the back of a few howlers (playing through personal issues) don't think he falls down the list, if he was that bad surely Kloop would of got rid. Not saying ours keepers are bad both had good seasons, Martinez was probably the 2nd best buy of the season (take a bow raphinia) , but IMO not the best 2 in the league, also lad at Chelsea (not Kepa) is very good, also Henderson,
IMO.

9.) 06 Jul 2021 12:27:21
Strikers missing 3 sitters and no-one bats an eye, you say, Richie.

That’s not quite how I remember it with Bam Bam in those dark Championship days…….

I thought Kalvin Phillips was excellent today, great all round performance from him, well done KP.
He stood out in a game where players and performance were bang average.

1.) 13 Jun 2021 21:09:15
Greetings in peace Dave. To be fair, your lad Mings also put in decent performance and remained composed throughout.

2.) 13 Jun 2021 21:45:15
Replied to you further down clueless, well done to the lad👍.

3.) 13 Jun 2021 21:47:32
Thanks VD. I also thought Mings did really well and I'm sure Grealish will have a vital part to play in future matches. I think Jack should have been brought on instead of Rashford.

4.) 14 Jun 2021 01:05:30
Mings looked nervous for first 5 or so then settled in well.
Croatia still have some excellent players and England dominated.
Scotland will be a different proposition but a similar level of performance should be enough.

5.) 14 Jun 2021 11:21:39
The problem is that better teams such as Belgium will most definitely punish England with 'Calamity Mings' in central defence

Ideally England need far better CDs than Mings, Maguire even Stones: it's the weakest link of the team.

Congratulations to Leeds United on their first season back in the Prem.

1.) 23 May 2021 19:14:19
Cheers VD think we did ourselves proud, and not just saying it i think next year we could be top 6. We are not far off, we have tightened up at the back, but still play expansive football, if only the last 20 games were like the first.

2.) 23 May 2021 20:45:44
Cheers Dave, hopefully good times coming back.

3.) 23 May 2021 21:38:18
Thanks Dave, good victory for yourselves against Chelsea. Shame the Grealish injury ruined your season a bit. See you next year and we go again :)

4.) 23 May 2021 22:18:16
Thanks fellas, take care and stay safe.

5.) 23 May 2021 22:48:45

Not a cat in hell`s chance of signing Tammy, he is in love with Aston Villa, and Jack is his mukka.
A very good young talent, who is being mishandled.
He badly needs playing time.
Not saying he will end up at B6, but far more chance than LS11.
I would forget it if I were you 😎.

1.) 28 Apr 2021 20:07:45
Hehe Vile Dave's fake bravado 😉

when deep down he and the other Vile supporters know it's going to get a lot, lot worse for the Viĺe in performances and results rest of this season and next season.

Chin up fella 😃😃.

2.) 28 Apr 2021 20:54:14
At 40mil its more than we would pay at the moment anyway - plus I think he will stay in London. If Wet Sham get Champs league footie next season can see him going there but I don't think he would move to a non Champs laleague club either.

3.) 28 Apr 2021 21:44:14
Not worth £40m in a month of Sundays! Has fleeting glimpses of showing ability, but not consistent (which is why he currently getting playing time) .
Worth £15-£20m as a backup for Paddy, but better options elsewhere.

4.) 28 Apr 2021 22:30:26
To a point I agree MG, but that can be said of Bamford, Watkins etc.
But I do think he is more than a back up.

Alf you are probably right, he would prefer to stay in London if the truth be known.

27 Apr 2021 19:34:52
Ey up, Dick Dastardly here, popped in to see how you doyles are.
Having a cruise up your way in a couple of weeks, Greasy Pig here we come.

villadave

1.) 27 Apr 2021 19:51:50
Baz That red leicester 🧀 you left out seemed to work. 😄.

2.) 27 Apr 2021 20:15:04
What you up to in Leeds Dave?

3.) 27 Apr 2021 21:11:06
Knew the cheese 🧀 and post would tease them out Georgie and catch me at least one Vile kipper 😃🎣 Dick Dastardly ( Vile Dave ) was way too easy ☺️

By the way for the posters under 50 I referred to the awesome Hannah Barbera 1970 cartoon series ' Wacky Races ' featuring those 2 villains.

4.) 27 Apr 2021 21:23:56
Buying another Campervan alf, my wife and I love travelling, and fingers crossed we can start again.
Are you and yours Ok?

5.) 28 Apr 2021 05:52:52
Baz No explanation required surely. It's always double drat when they come over here though.

6.) 28 Apr 2021 06:26:17
Yeah good thanks Dave. Hope it goes well with the van - good purchase with the summer ahead.

7.) 28 Apr 2021 06:29:06
Wacky races was brilliant. Or course, Dastardly and Mutley also starred in 'Dastardly and Muttley In their Flying Machines' and 'The Perils of Penelope Pitstop'.

8.) 28 Apr 2021 09:32:28
Catch the pigeon alf!

9.) 28 Apr 2021 12:24:53
Dave and Whacky more like the Boulder brothers.

10.) 28 Apr 2021 14:31:39
Cheers alf thanks for that.

11.) 28 Apr 2021 14:55:41
Haha 😃 Ox you are right
the Neanderthal brothers ☺️.

12.) 28 Apr 2021 21:00:45
So when you say 'another' campervan does that mean you will have 2 or you are replacing one?

Clueless why do you keep insisting Villa have been stung in the purchase of Buendia.
I think we should wait and see before we start to make any rash assumptions.
We have be talking about him for the best part of 2 years on our forum, so he is a wanted addition.
CW is spot calling him a class act, I personally think the same, I have seen him play maybe a dozen times, all excellent, with possibly 2 average performances.
Price is what you pay, quality is what you get, and that was his price.

I think some on here should be a bit more respectful of someone who is unable to answer for himself.
Berm has valid points, and is entitled to an opinion.
I would therefore question your own integrity before berating another fellow poster.
Alf regards to Berm please.

Hello Whitey, I am all good thank you, hope you and your family are well.
Yes mate, I was not sure that some of you guys new Amavi`s history, that`s why I answered the post, shame really.
To be honest Whitey, he blew hot and cold with us, and found it hard to settle, and that is one of the reasons we moved him on.
Good player though if you get him.

There is method in the madness, and it has been done as a way of assuring Leeds get a good return on any future sale.
The interest has been planted, just as it was with Jack.
It would be nice for you guys, to know what the release clause is set at, because there will be one.
This rumour has been monitored, and has all the hall marks of previous goings on.
