Now that we're officially in the EPL next season I thought it would be an appropriate time to acknowledge our achievements this season and vote our thanks to those who delivered.
First the owners and the board who cut it a bit fine for us fans but got it right.
Second the recruitment team who tried our patience but got the job done within our constrained budget.
Third the coaching team ( and it is a team rather than just the wonderful Mr Farke)
Fourth the medical team for nursing our signings back to fitness. Most of them were described on here as " sick notes" but with the right care they came good.
Fifth the squad, good enough for the EPL or not, who all contributed
Sixth our fans who moved the needle on more than one occcasion
And last there's DF who withstood all the doubters and got it done with some spectacular results, take a bow!
OK so that's this season. Now we need to build. We can improve our coaching team under DF ( better at set pieces etc) and we can certainly start to upgrade our squad. We've had some luck this season that may not repeat so we need to be a stronger team next season.
The comments on here have been great for the most part although some of the depressives could lighten up.
Here's to becoming an established EPL team and taking the stress out of our season. Mid table a reasonable target next season. Have a great summer everyone.

We are more or less mid table this season? A point here or there.

Good post, Sixpence, but I thought we were more often than not unlucky with our results this season.

OP, I've been watching LUFC for longer than I care to think about, and we've certainly had more than our fair share of rotten luck down the years, but to a good extent teams make their own luck. One of our biggest weaknesses this year has been our poor shot conversion rate. Brentford, for example, have scored 52 goals from 528 shots at goal, whereas we've only got 47 goals from 622 shots.
If we'd converted just a few more chances into goals, how many losses or draws might have become draws or wins. We all see shots hit the woodwork and say it's unlucky, but it's not bad luck, it's bad shooting. If we can improve that one metric next season, we'll likely be in the top half of the table.

It depends which way you want to look at it, JR. Yes, we can always improve our goal conversion ratio, but for me, since we conceded so many late goals in the dying minutes of quite a number of our games, due to weak defending, own goals and dodgy referee decisions, you could see our weaknesses and luck unfolding at the other end of the pitch.
At the end of the day, it's very clear to see that, as a newly promoted team, it's going to take, in my estimation, several seasons to strengthen our squad to have that quality to cement our future in the Premiership.
The first and most difficult season has been achieved successfully, but I wouldn't be getting too far ahead of ourselves just yet. There are more struggles and challenges still to come in this beast of a league.

If we can convert more chances plus cut out conceding late goals, we would probably be challenging for Europe. More creativity, a more clinical striker, and improved defenders are clearly needed in my book.

Good idea, Alf. Combine solving the issues at both ends. ?
Top, top post, by the way, 6p.

Is the current EPL really a "beast of a league"?
Quality of teams this season is wayyy down from previous seasons imo.

I tend to agree, Baz. It's much lower quality than "normal".
I would argue the league is much closer this season at both ends of the table, even the top two are "poor" relatively v other seasons. The "big 6" have been dire, e.g. Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea.God forbid Tottenham!
It is hard to fathom that the defending champions have lost one game less than us and will likely have 20+ points less than last year.
I think this has been a "competitive" league rather than an outstanding league.
Has there really been any outstanding teams this year, even a really outstanding player?
Arsenal have been the most consistent, but have they played really great football?

Good points, Ani. Fully agree.

It is a very competitive league, but PSR has probably had an impact on teams like Citeh and Chelsea, to rein in their overspending, plus teams like Villa and Newcastle with their vastly wealthy owners.
The quality of the Premiership collectively is still far superior to other European leagues.
Although the Premiership has suffered somewhat, there is still no argument, in my opinion, that it has the best quality and competitiveness of any football league.
