Does anybody else think that the 40 million price attached to Adama Traore is way too high? Very fast player imo but often no end result - a bit like the last player we signed from Wolves!

I highly doubt we would pay £40m for a player with next to zero end product, especially scene as De Paul was seemingly our perfect number 8 or 10 and we wouldn’t pay £35 for him. Traore has had numerous clubs and managers now who still haven’t got the beast out of him. Yes Bielsa is different gravy but he’s not worth a gamble at £40. There’s far far better out there at that kind of money.

It’s an absolute no from me . I think Bielsa would get the best out of him but I’m thinking more in the region of 15 mil otherwise I’d definitely look elsewhere.

No, a player is worth what a club are willing to pay I suppose, the vile paid 33 mil for Buendio, IMO far too much, but who knows wat he will do,

Reminds me a lot of Huckerby. Very fast to run into corners, but does nowt with the ball once he gets there. More lazy journalism for me. And a definite No! Oily arm do nowt!

The previous season it looked like his end product was finally starting to improve, with 6 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. Last season perhaps made the previous performance look like an exception, with a reversion to the average following on - with just 2 goals and 3 assists. However last year he wasn’t helped by the injury to Jimenez, and the lack of a decent backup striker, or indeed attacking threat from elsewhere in the team. It’s hard to provide assists if there’s no one capable of putting the ball in the net. He was a sub for 11 games and in the games he started he played in 8 different positions within the team, even more positions the Dallas did for us. I guess it’s less easy to play consistently well when you’re constantly being moved around, with your role changing, within what was clearly a disfunctioning team. It is possible that had Jimenez not been out for so long, or if Wolves had decent backup, Traore may have continued to improve his output.

A Bielsa-trained Adama could be outstanding - and in combination with Raphinha and Rodrigo could be very scary against any defence, particularly in the last 20 minutes - imagine them against Maguire and co at Old Trafford with the away support baying them on. Or perhaps tearing Mings and co (including Ashley Young apparently) a new one at Villa Park, which would be particularly sweet, given he started out there and they were so quick to sell him on.

That said, £40m is way too high, £25m maximum surely, and it’s hard to imagine Traore being happy sitting on the subs bench as backup for Harrison/ Raph, and it would be tough on Harrison to a make him the backup. Of course the same would be the case to some extent with any new winger - whether Noa Lang, the Georgian guy or anyone else we have or haven’t been linked with. I guess it’s for Orta to handle expectations in the negotiations he’ll be having, and to gauge what impact any prospective new player would have within the dressing room if their expectations were not being met.

I guess the bottom line is I don’t see it happening, but if it does it could go either way, and we just have to trust that Orta and Bielsa know what they are doing, and hold on tight for the ride.

I think the media just speculating we want another winger, when it seems we are after an attacking midfielder that can play anywhere across that 3-4 behind Paddy. The likes of Lang, Cunha can play numerous positions in that department so I’d feel they are more likely/ realistic than any out and out wingers. I’ve no doubt Raph could happily play the number 10 if needed. Don’t think Victors hope of getting all our business done by the end of June is gunna happen though.

Meant to add that I’m not in any way convinced that we have any actual interest in Traore. The Georgian lad and Lang seem more likely options, though who, other that Orta, Kinnear, Bielsa and their respective staff teams, know whether there’s any truth to those rumours either.

Clueless, we were very quick to sell him on, no direction or end product, it became obvious why Barcelona let us have him.
I don`t think he will ever change.
