Disappointed with that should have one that
We do it all the time. Try and defend a lead. It's crazy. Taking ball to corner flag and all that rubbish. That should be a free kick I reckon. Same as obstructing a player from getting to a ball from 10 yards before touch line. Drives me mad
I have confidence in uwe but starting with Saturday. The wins must start coming.
Can't be forever gelling We need to be gelled!
Silv out!
Well done wood too! Hope that's the first of many!

Aussie. Taking ball to a corner flag etc to defend a lead is not pretty I agree. But it's very effective. I remember back in the old old days we did it often. And successfully. Trouble is. It takes a lot of skill and a bit of intelligence. We seem to be lacking in those departments at the moment.
By the way, am I the only one old enough to remember Gary Sprake? ( he was a goalie for you kids) . Great most of the time, but . For some reason I'm being remembered of him

Away from home Ausman I can understand the tactics we played. However, for me it will be this Saturday that knocks me off the fence. Last season under all three managers we had we played the same at home as we did away. We tried to defend more than attack. Hopefully Wood will push on now after opening his account and Atenucci is looking good, so if Rossler has the bottle to play more attacking football I'll be more than happy.

Spot on with Sprake Speedy, good shotstopper but went to sleep a lot. Good goalie but never made you feel confident about his ability. Mistakes cost points and when in goal mistakes stand out

If you read the biography on Gary Sprake you will know from the facts and stats that sprake saved more games that lost them for Leeds. All the players had confidence in him, especially Revie, who made him his number one for a decade.
Only remembered for his few mistakes, shame really as he is one our greats.
Think you've got that one wrong.

Chris. Loved Gary Sprake and he was a great keeper for us. Famous for a few absolute howlers. But of course whenever a goalie makes a b*lls up it invariably leads to a goal and often defeat. You are probably correct that the comparison is not that accurate in the sense that the problem with Silvestri is his fondness to punch instead of catch and his lack of command of his area. I agree with the poster who said these areas of his game should be improving by now. I repeat that I like him but I want and expect a keeper to command his area and instil confidence in the defence. For me at the moment he does the opposite unfortunately

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant the comparison to Sprake was wrong.

Dont need to read his biography, stats etc was there mate and at times some of us wondered if he had had s bet on the other team scoring. Saying that those mistakes were few and far between and yes he was a top goalie but kept you on the edge of your seat ay yimes

{Ed001's Note - Sprake is famous amongst older Liverpool fans, like my mam, for throwing the ball into the back of the net against us. He even got himself a nice song for doing so.}

You are correct Chris.

My point is about Gary Sprake, whether you were there or not, he was picked by Don Revie as his No 1 for over a decade, so he can't have been that rubbish, unless there is something anyone can remember that the great Don, god rest his sole, missed?!
