With the present squad I think we fall short again this season. We are not solid enough at the back at set pieces and we don't create enough clear cut chances with all the possession we have. In addition we don't convert enough of the chances we do make. On the positive side if we don't go up we should be competing at the top of a division rather than attempting to avoid relegation or simply plugging along low mid table.

Completely disagree. Strongest squad we've had since leaving the premier league by far. Anyone who was concerned about jansson being replaced, ben white. Anyone concerned about saiz, roberts, costa, forshaw stepping up. The versatility is incredible. We've axed a lot of deadwood, which the board will appreciate come january. Anita on 15k a week, ekuban on 5, roofe on 10, de bock, jansson, all these players were on reasonably big wages. Kalvin needs a new deal which will eat up a fair portion of this, but when that deal goes through it will suggest the intentions had by all at the club. Look at every position on the pitch, one by one, and look at who could play in each position.

GK Casilla, meslier, miazek.
RB Dallas, Ayling, Hosannah, Bera, Shack.
CB White, Cooper, Bera, Phillips, Struijk, Davis.
Lb, Douglas, Alioski, Bera, Dallas, Davis
DM Phillips, Forshaw, Mccalmont, Shack
RM, Pablo, Harrison, Costa, Alioski, Gotts, Stevens, Clarke, Shack.
CM Klich, Phillips, Forshaw, Roberts, Shack, Pablo.
LM Harrison, Costa, Roberts, Pablo, Clarke, Stevens, Alioski, Dallas.
AM Costa, Pablo, Bogusz, Roberts, Harrison, Eddie, Shack, Klich, Forshaw.
ST Bamford, Eddie, Roberts, Edmondson, Kun.

So much depth, such young blood, such talented players. Every reason we should be going up this season, and who better to have in charge, I genuinely can't think of someone better to fit the bill, other than possibly pep.

We've lost 2 games from 8 in 1 month. 2 of which were in the cup. And its been a very hard start, forest, swansea, bristol, stoke, all teams with good solid players, and to beat 3/ 4 of them is brilliant IMO. Look at performances against wigan, stoke, bristol, just about swept aside. People saying they've sussed bielsa out, they haven't its obvious what we do and he doesn't hide it.

Agree with both of you but only to an extent. We do have defensive frailties and I don't rate Casilla at all but the worry that I have is the failure to convert chances. Bamford may be fine against the poor teams (Stoke and Wigan) but will cost us points against better teams such as Swansea. Time will tell if Eddie really is the answer (I hope so and I hope we go 2 up front as that will get the best out of both strikers and as many on here have said is the only answer at home) but our strategy is to attack attack attack and win the war of attrition so we need goals. Sod who is in defence if we score enough we will win enough games but we desperately need to score more goals.

problem is Alf, you get the vibe that Marcelo is a dude who just cannot be told
We don't score enough, so you would think its logical to double ypur chances, by playing 2 up front .
Sadly i feel there's about an equal chance of Diane Abbot starting as CB as MB playing 2 up front from start of a league game.
