It seems most of the linked players for January are forwards.
Honestly. I wouldn't worry about forwards until the summer.
We need three defenders first.
It is a glaring fact that our defence is not good enough. We can see it. The rest of the prem can see it so I hope our lot can see it.
Shore up the defence and we could be top 8.
Unusually so but I agree with baz. I would drop gk too.

Not so much the defenders more the way those defenders are being set up on the pitch …tactical rethink would go along way to conceding less goals. Not sure if Marsch has the tactical know how to do this.

I think you can ignore all the click bait stories. The most important player position we need now is a LB and quality LB’s are not easy to find. The January transfer market is also not a good time to be buying players for many reasons, only clubs who are prepared to pay extortionate prices or going to elite clubs will get you that quality player. I think we’ve been down that road before in looking for a LB who might come good.
Certainly didn’t work with Firpo.

Ye say that OP but Newcastle did alright in the Jan window last year.
There are players available and agreed the priority is left back, centre back and a striker.
I’m not convinced the form of Jimmy and Rodders will continue all season, I’d also sell Harrison as he’s been a ghost this season so far, take what we can while his stock is still reasonably good.
£30m + Matt target from the toon would just about do it, cash for striker and a left back in return.
Then spend the 30 on a decent striker, buy the cb net spend not too high so Radz will be happy.
Maybe even get another cdm in or utility midfielder who can play anywhere down the middle.
Get Bamford out on loan to try build his confidence back up.

Sweaty love the optimism, but we ain't getting 30 mill 4 Harrison, never mind a player aswell, and we will struggle to get top quality striker 4 30 mil,
Doesnt Radz still have the TV money to spend ???????.

Positive mental thinking Richie.
Certainly does have the money pal, didn’t technically spend anything in the summer.
We can definitely sign a good striker for 30m it just means scouting outside the box of the uk market.
I do certainly fear that if we don’t act in January and learn the lessons of the debacle of last season then we won’t be as lucky as last season.

We won’t sell JH for less than £30m. He has cost more in loan fees, let alone his wages, and development. We would be taking a hit at £35m.

I think the prospects and the $ make Newcastle a very interesting proposition for potential quality incomings.
Newcastle’s team wages almost doubles ours.
There will be more activity in the summer for us again, I expect more to be leaving this time though.

As others have said Radz definitely has the money, the Sky TV money, his net spend in summer window was zero, the £35 million plus kitty that hasn't been used re CDK and Gakpo etc

I am praying that Radz finally sees sense this season and improves our team with January recruitment.

I agree Baz! But let’s not forget wages.
