On the KP theme, young footballers are on a learning curve and with the right coaching can improve and develop their game, as in KP's instance becoming unrecognisable to the player they were 2 years earlier . Form and fitness are also factors, where young players who are fatigued have a couple of bad games and loose confidence, get labelled as not being good enough and cannot recover from this . Everyone is saying we have a small squad of 22 to 25 senior professionals, behind this we have have assembled a development squad with "one for the future" players who standards wise may have far more potential than most other reserve teams . Added to this MB coaching and I don't think our squad is as light as others think. Also this has happened off the radar, meaning lots of the pundits are not quite as aware of it . You can see the plan coming together . Another 2 or 3 come through like Clarke add in a few of astute buys and we really will not be that far away.

a few bookies still have us with very good odds to win the league so its not that under the radar. the experts know about it.

over the past few weeks I have spoken to many ex professionals, scouts, sports jounralists, managers and people in the game. All said they wish leeds the best and want us to return, all said what great fans we have and most said they think we will go up, can they all be wrong?

Personally I still think we will fall short (I think we will get beat comfortably by whoever we play in the first round of the playoffs) but then a lot can happen, lots of form, games and a transfer window to happen.

I certainly did not think we would be here at this point in the season and i'm certainly impressed with the improvement overall from last year. I still think maybe we are putting too much faith in our coach, not becuase he ain't good because he is but you still need the players and for me we still fall short here, but despite our injuries and small squad we sit second with a small gap between 3rd so maybe I am just a weary leeds fan who can't be positive as when I am we fall to bits.

Bermo, surely the best answer is, it’s too soon and too competitive to know exactly what is going to happen, but to predict failure and that “ we will get beat comfortably by whoever we play in the first round of the playoffs”, in early December when we are second, frankly sounds a bit weird!

You don’t appear to be a glass half empty sort of guy but when it comes to KP and Leeds promotion chances the glass seems to be gathering dust.

spanish if you read my post that is what i have said in other words.

I had thoughts on how the season would go on past seasons and what i have seen

I have thoughts on what i have seen so far

overall leeds have exceeded what i would of expected which is great but still so much to go it is impossible to predict

however that said how things are at the moment and what i have seen (which is all i can base it on) i would not be confident over two legs against norwich, villa, west brom, swans, borough at this point in time, don't mean it will play out that way with so much to change but i can only comment on how things are at the moment

every year i have a bet on leeds to go up and england to win whatever comp they are in (finally won on nations league) this year i am very much glass half full if that, i honest at this point in time don't think we will go up, hope i am wrong and don't care either way. Promotion don't matter a jot to me, i love leeds either way so maybe my glass is always full as promotion doesn't change my thoughts on leeds.

Bermo, don’t understand! You say,

‘ overall Leeds have exceeded what I would of expected which is great but still so much to go it is impossible to predict”

But even though it’s impossible to predict you go on to say,

‘At this point in time don’t think that we will go up”

Sounds a bit like a prediction to me and the same prediction that you have made since the start of the season, despite the results and the progress.

To me it’s a shame promotion doesn’t matter a jot to you. It does to me and to thousands of the folks who go to the games and live and work in and around the city. I think it will help the club to get and retain promotion and it will bring a lot of happiness to the area. The city should have a premiership team, But we have to earn it by right, and that is what we’re trying to do. Perhaps it’s a bit different for people who live or have close connections with the city.

Anyone let’s all hope including you, that you’re wrong!

come on spanish you are a smart guy.

while it is impossible to predict what will happen it is possible to have an opinion on what someone has seen so far. it is impossible to predict how my eldest will grow up (she is five) however at this point in time i predict she will grow up a lovely person as she is a kind smart kid. it is always hard to predict the future but very easy to have an idea on how you think it might pan on given the circumstances at the time

I find what you say at the end genuinely upsetting. to me it doesn't and shouldn't matter what league we are in. I enjoyed our wins in league one as much as I enjoyed our wins in the champions league. In fact i prefered league one football to premier football as it shows we are a proper club and proper fans. maybe it is because my local team is millwall and the team i am closly linked to is leyton Orient, the status of the club or league we play in bares no impact on my love for the club or enjoyment on a saturday (or whenever sky schedue our games for) . I agree it might bring a bit more money to the city and i will be delighted with promotion and devistated if i am correct and we lose in the playoffs but overall it doesn't matter. better to lose a leeds fan than win a fan of any other club. win lose or draw we all love leeds and a premiership badge on our shirt will not increse my love for the club.

Bermo, clearly we have to agree to differ on this one. I prefer to be positive and I base that positivity not just on hope but on the results that this group of players have achieved so far this year and see absolutely no evidence of why we should be beaten heavily in the play offs.

Cambridge definition of “ prediction” : “statement about what you think will happen in the future:”

You think that we will miss out on the playoffs and you think we will be heavily beaten in the playoffs” Those are your predictions which you seem very happy to make repeatedly . Fair enough let’s wait and see.

May I? Sorry as a new poster but been following for a long time. Bermondsey has really helped me in this thread to understand where he is coming from and I have to respect that (still disagree mind) . But he did not say "heavily" but comfortably and TBH after the West Brom game he has a point. Giving dictionary definitions of words is a bit schoolboy debater and is basically an insult to Berm - who is clearly a pretty smart guy. I disagree with Berm's view but like the rest of us we are Leeds so it is not unreasonable to expect the worst. I must admit that I loved the banter with proper Leeds fans when we were in league 1 and sh*t news about Leeds was a daily occurrence but talking to some of the other L1 fans (Carlisle Blue? ) was a breath of fresh air compared to most of the prem lot. Why argue now? This season is a great ride with a possible epic ending. Be excellent to each other we've been through a lot!

cheers brat,

i would like to say i also knew we would beat doncaster and watford in playoffs and thought michael rickets would be top scorer and we know how they worked out, so maybe thinking we might get beat will do us well. Who knows we might even go up automatic which would be a dream given our playoff record.

leodis sadly my wife is even worse than me (hard to imagine but i am the nice one, just ask my daughters who lucky for me take after there great granddad)

spanish i never said let's not agree to disagree. i can certanily see the argument for saying leeds will go up the main two being results and the table so i don't think you are mad for saying you feel we will go up i just at the moment think we will fall short maybe ready for a charge next year, although history would suggest MB is a short term bounce not a long term answer.
