Although I can see Leeds wanting to sort the Saiz situation quickly, I'm sure they won't be happy at the way in which this has been handled on the Spanish side. All of the leaks and information appear to be coming from Spain, possibly in a way to force the issue.

We are about to go into a crucial period of games for the club this year and ones where Samu would definitely have featured in some way. I also would like to see Samu getting an Elland Road send off rather than disappearing overnight! Glad we have Bielsa at the helm to handle this calmly, but it needs to be dealt with quickly!

Don't underestimate his loss, either starting or from the bench Samu is a skillful player who occupies the minds and bodies of opposing teams. Perhaps the Izzy Brown deal makes a lot more sense now!

1.) 14 Dec 2018 09:33:22
I just hope that if he does go then Radz is going to sell rather than loan to sell.

2.) 14 Dec 2018 09:47:04
If he doesn't want to be here let him go. Only want people committed to the badge.

3.) 14 Dec 2018 10:01:41
It will def put Izzy before Saiz on the teamsheet I think.

Well done Pablo, PFA fans championship player of the month. For me an exceptional ambassador for the club as a person and professional. Like Bielsa, doesn't forget his roots. A part owner of Castellon, Spanish second division club, who he wants to help again when he finishes his Leeds career. He trains with them when he goes back to Spain on holiday! Pure class. Some of his touches are my stand out memories so far this year, the never gave up run and cross against derby, the lovely glancing headed goals and of course, the not as easy as it looked, finish from Young Clarke. First name on the team sheet for me and one who we really don't want injured again!

1.) 06 Dec 2018 12:55:17
Top bloke is Pablo, long may he continue :)

2.) 06 Dec 2018 22:21:41
I often look at the reports of Leeds eyeing up possible transfers who are 30+ years old and say to myself "No! No! No! ". Then I watch Pablo and think "What do I know?
Form is temporary but class is permanent. Hernandez may be displaying the former but it is the latter that shines through week after week.

Bielsa is the key with regard to who and how many players we manage to get hold of in Jan. I really don't believe that he will be a manager to put up with players he doesn't want or think he needs. And he'll be strong enough to ask for what he wants.

His planning is based on up to 4 key injuries at a time. He has now had a chance to see whether that is realistic in this league or not.

Furthermore he has had the chance to look at and assess the players in the under 23s at first hand.

The amount of injuries we are having is testing out the strength in depth and giving Bielsa a real reality check before the market opens again. He will know that if he finishes Jan saying that he is happy with the playing squad and the recruits, then it will be clear where the responsibility lies.

Don't give up yet guys, it's not how many injuries that we have that is important, it's the effect it has on performance and results. We can't do anything until Jan, so how we do in the remaining games this year, will show the way ahead. In a way, the sheer amount of injuries might be a blessing in disguise of sorts because it focuses attention on the issue of squad depth.

We're still in the top two, let's see where we are by New Year!

02 Dec 2018 17:20:29
Some lovely glimpses of the man Bielsa is from his press conference yesterday. Firstly in saying that a draw would not have been an unfair result and then in crediting one of his coaches, was it Pablo quiroga? With the idea to shift Hernadez.

I think you need a Coach that the club can rally around as a figurehead who embodies the qualities that you want to see. We clearly have that man and the rest can follow.

The players and other key employees at the club can see that most of his ideas work and when they don't, he takes responsibility for them. That gives everyone more confidence and makes them listen to him.

I think whatever he says, Bielsa has an idea in his mind, the thought of a Bielsa coached Leeds having a chance to play against Peps City, Klopps Liverpool, And Pochettino's Spurs. Not just to manage a team in the Premiership but to create a vision, build a team that can get there and show that his ideas and his style of football can deliver. And to the money men, a Bielsa led Leeds in the premiership would attract the television, the players, the world wide attention and the supporters. Imagine how many season tickets we would sell!

He has done more than enough already to show that he can do it, we need to support him and believe and he needs the same support from every employee of the club. Whatever he is asking for in Jan, they should use every single second and available pound to make happen. We know that it won't be excessive, but it could be key. It's time to dream!

1.) 02 Dec 2018 19:28:12
Buy or Don't buy I don't really care. So long as it's his decision. Then as you say let's rally around for the run in.

2.) 02 Dec 2018 20:21:37
I can’t believe that at this stage we would buy somone that he didn’t want. For me it’s just a case of whether we can get the few that he wants. I’m sure that both Bielsa and his team and Orta will have been formulating a view on who might work and be possible. We just need to make sure that he’s got what he needs.

3.) 02 Dec 2018 23:41:04
Spanish. When we are in the PL, under Bielsa, sky will have to set up SkysportsLeeds, officially. There’s no other club like us anymore, loved or hated, that draws viewing and money, and no other fans like us, that creates that atmosphere of old time football. I can’t wait. It’s coming soon.

4.) 03 Dec 2018 16:25:34
Nice one Brighty, we are one of the few remaining working class clubs around, probably Stoke, a few others included but we're the biggest and best of them :)

22 Nov 2018 18:39:28
Better to have all these injuries now than in Feb! We are forced to try out some of the more promising under 23s, they either take the opportunity or illustrate the need to strengthen in Jan!

We've been talking about Aapo in here for a bit. I like what I've seen in the u23s, looks calm, comfortable on the ball and tall! Would have liked to see him alongside Pontus but good for him to have a chance. Start with him and have the Phillips option in reserve.

Huffer seems a very vocal keeper to me when I've seen him and in the style of BPF including a few mix ups but also with good distribution. Obviously they are going to be nervous but both have had international recognition and with support around them, I don't think they will be out of their class.

But it looks like Saturday is a game where, to be sure we want to keep the possession and attack attack attack! Full house to cheer the boys on.

1.) 22 Nov 2018 20:00:26
Absolutely Spanish, onwards and upwards for the young lads. Let's smash the next 2 games and see where we go from there.

2.) 25 Nov 2018 09:37:43
Ausman, I am loving you post mate, please please keep them coming.

Been trying to scour the Spanish press for news on Saiz. One article quoting sources very closely to Getafe was very confident of a deal being sorted and agreed by this weekend, in principle. They are talking possibly about a 6 month loan followed by a purchase.

That loan angle has also been mentioned by Adam Pope but he described that as being complicated. Lots of talks going on yesterday apparently, which is where the leak seems to have come from. Saiz played for Getafe B and also had one game with Getafe in the first division, so does have links with the club. Everybody seems to agree he's homesick and we don't want to force him to stay.

He will be a loss to the squad, very skillful player, who occupies the minds and bodies of opponents, but one who needs to be happy. I would imagine Bielsa would want this dealt with quickly now and wouldn't be surprised if it's all clarified before Bolton.

1.) 14 Dec 2018 11:11:56
It must be a sale, loan to buy is no good because knowing our luck he'll get injured in his first game.

2.) 14 Dec 2018 11:19:24
When he goes, are we going back for a look at that Madison lad? He seems to have fallen off the radar since the close-season, don't know if he's crocked or what.

3.) 14 Dec 2018 12:09:03
With you Al must be a straight sale in Jan no messing with loan to buy. Board seem to be good at quick sales. Shame good player.

13 Dec 2018 09:53:51
Body fat under 10%! Never mind salary restrictions, that might put off a few prospective championship players. No chance of a Mel Sterland return!

1.) 13 Dec 2018 12:56:47
Brolin could replace half the team!

2.) 13 Dec 2018 14:06:25
Not sure he would have got through a training session!

3.) 13 Dec 2018 16:39:06
Should be managers too.
That would scare fat sam and what was that other fat guy called that fleetingly managed us?

4.) 14 Dec 2018 11:16:22
Steve Evans is the bloke you're thinking of Aus, the same one that's now at Posh and trying to flog his centre forward to us.

11 Dec 2018 13:32:41
Bamford scores! Welcome back, nice finish as well. Under 23 side that includes, Harrison, Baker, brown, Bamford, Shaunessy. Of course, we gave them a 1 goal start! So 1-1!

1.) 11 Dec 2018 14:12:59
2-2 now! If you get a chance have a look at Jack Clarke’s goal, great run and scores! Not a bad performance so far, up against top of the league side who are pretty free scoring recently!

2.) 11 Dec 2018 14:15:42
3-3, some game this is! Now Baker gets a bit of scoring practice for us! Harrison gone off to be replaced by Clarke and Leif Davis gone off for Aapo!

3.) 11 Dec 2018 14:24:27
Now Izzy brown goes and gets a goal, 3-4 in what is turning out to be a very positive outing for the squad and great news for the first team as well!

4.) 11 Dec 2018 14:35:40
Bamford with number 5! He put himself into a position in scoring where he really could have hurt himself and comes away rubbing his leg! This game in a strange way, could prove to be a key part of our season. This lineup not too far away from championship standard!

5.) 11 Dec 2018 14:40:38
It's the FA Cup squad getting some time in ;)

6.) 11 Dec 2018 14:49:29
Wow, this is some performance, Clarke goes in another incredible run, takes out 2/ 3 players and Bamfird gets his hat trick! There is some talent out there today. When you get the chance what he the highlights! We could be seeing a glimpse of some of our future first team performances here!

7.) 11 Dec 2018 14:57:50
Well that was a pleasure to watch! Strange to see a under 23 game that actually answered a lot of questions about the First team squad.

Brown now looking fit, played the full ninety and looks class
Bamford hat trick, mixture of skill, good positioning and being brave.
Clarke, stunning second half, class every time he was on the ball, passed players for fun!

Harrison had a good 45, baker looked a lot better and got a goal.

Add into that, Clarke Odour, another good kid!

Really encouraging for the second half of the season.

8.) 11 Dec 2018 14:58:36
Nice one Spanish.
Sounds awesome.
Can’t wait for Izzy and Clarke to be regulars this season.
Sounds like we may be comfortable with just goalie and striker admission in jan.

9.) 11 Dec 2018 15:00:44
And I forgot to mention, guess who was in goal for Burnley! Mmmmm!

10.) 11 Dec 2018 15:02:35
3 - 6 at the end?

11.) 11 Dec 2018 16:05:38
From the report of the U23 game looks like it is time to replace Alioski from the first team starting line up and give Clarke his place.

12.) 11 Dec 2018 16:21:28
And I forgot to mention, guess who was in goal for Burnley! Mmmmm!

13.) 11 Dec 2018 16:23:34
Heaton in goal for Burnley and yes 3-6!

14.) 11 Dec 2018 16:25:06
Clarke still only played 45 mins. Bringing him on in the second half still seems to bring out the best of him and really stretches the play. If you can keep him fresh and use other legs for the first 45, why not?

15.) 11 Dec 2018 16:47:50
Thanks Spanish. Sounds like you had a good day out. You must be shattered trying to keep up, with all that texting.

16.) 11 Dec 2018 17:00:08
Top reporting Spanish, great to see Bamford and Brown amongst the goals, sounds like you have had a very enjoyable afternoon out!

17.) 11 Dec 2018 17:51:35
Spaniard Brown has the ability to be world class.

18.) 11 Dec 2018 18:04:34
Guys, wasn’t at the ground just watching it all online! The Burnley website claimed the game was going to be played behind closed doors! Put me off, I saw a lot of agents there but I think some fans went anywhere. Still great to watch!

What the under 23s are doing just gives me greater faith in what the whole club does. The games showcase the youth, give first teamers game time, give us a chance before in a way of playing and form a real bridge to the first team. It’s just so joined up. Brown and Bamford are going to be like Jan signings that have already been inducted into the ways of Bielsa. Harrison and Baker still very solid and good assets. Jack Clarke is definitely our wild card for this year that will win us games. Robbie Gotts and Clarke Odour, other Names from the squad that may well see more involvement in the first team plans. it’s a good time to be a Leeds Fan!

19.) 11 Dec 2018 19:40:07
Spaniard You're so right. Investment in the correct place, the youth, after it was harpooned by the previous owner.

20.) 11 Dec 2018 20:20:20
Great posts Spanish and George.
George you are bang on regarding the previous regime as there was little to no forward thinking. Great to see an owner and his senior staff looking to the future as well as now. Well said George.

21.) 11 Dec 2018 20:26:32
What about Bamford Aus?

22.) 11 Dec 2018 21:22:58
Can I just mention the poor lads name is oduor.

23.) 11 Dec 2018 22:11:49
Smells like team spirit! 😉.

24.) 12 Dec 2018 01:30:07
George, keep that stuff about Brown on the downlow, we might be able to make Chelsea think he's poor and snap him for a tenner ;)

25.) 12 Dec 2018 02:00:48
Thanks Corky and you're right too Staffy.

26.) 12 Dec 2018 06:25:30
Thanks Other Woody! I did read through my post and I knew something didn’t smell right but I couldn’t put my finger on it!

27.) 12 Dec 2018 07:54:36
Clarke Shackleton Pearce all here when Cellino was in charge. Set up now is a lot better with academy teams reflecting the way the first team play. Think that has little to do with owners and more to do with Bielsa.

28.) 12 Dec 2018 08:04:05
Its interesting to see how the attacking element of the team get the headlines and guys like Stevens and Nicell who put the graft in to allow them to get forward do not get a mention poor lads. Fact is its same as first team in the effort the whole team put in and though its good to see guys like Bamford and Brown doing well and progressing its also good to see the togetherness and when the first teamers drop in for game time they are starting to respect the young lads. In the past some have treated it like a training session but now they know they have to be better than the guy they replace even in the U23s.

29.) 12 Dec 2018 09:43:57
Did Odour get a sniff of the goal?

great report Spanish - thanks for that. Looks like an exciting game and a great win. Nice to hear Bamford played well.

30.) 12 Dec 2018 11:49:48
Bige we had no scouting system when cellino was here. At least now we are looking to snap up young players who are hungry to join Leeds and do well.

31.) 12 Dec 2018 13:50:17
BIGE, good post. I think Bielsa really understands the team ethic. Also, if you drop into the under 23s and don’t take it seriously, that will be noted by the coaching team! Bamford was a good example yesterday, really put himself out. Harrison has had 2 good 45mins recently as well. Whether you are a kid or a returning pro it’s your route back into the first team!

10 Dec 2018 11:55:02
On these clickbait transfer rumors and contract talks! If any of our players chooses to leave in Jan for a mid ranking or worse premiership team or the chance to be sent out on loan to Ipswich, then I say goodbye and good luck! Particularly if we are offered a large wedge of cash in exchange! Sensible management to concentrate on the football games at the moment and actually sensible from the agents as well to pause! Why negotiate new contracts now when you don't know what the likely situation will be next year. Otherwise agree now and you'll be renegotiating again if we get to the Premiership. Is KP really going to leave Leeds on the cusp of promotion, I think not! Roofe, a different matter but not irreplaceable! Jack Clarke would be a real loss, and a real shame for the lad, but 30 million!

1.) 10 Dec 2018 15:15:58
Totally Spanish! Let em go, and take the cash, as long as it’s reinvested. I’d hate to see anyone leave in the same manner as the Byrams and Taylors to mediocrity, when quite clearly, we will be in the PL again in the future, but if they choose that, and as you say, the wedge is right, then say goodbye!

2.) 10 Dec 2018 21:10:38
Question is, why would anyone WANT to leave Leeds this season? Just a load of doggies danglers from the very tedious "respected journalists"

3.) 10 Dec 2018 22:23:14
Exactly Al! The media and agents stirring it!

08 Dec 2018 20:00:24
Just got in! Wow!

1. The crowd today made a real difference, incredible atmosphere, wonderful applause for Saiz and Hernandez!
2. Shakelton well done fella, Aus was right, fast and dangerous!
3.Aapo, lovely moment when Matt Smith, got ready to come on and Bielsa turned to Aapo immediately, no hesitation, that comes from trust, kid or no kid!
4. Watch Hernadez making the goal, in a game like this with a parked double decker, his class can always offer a goal.
5 . There is a growing believe in the team and crowd that we will find a way to make something happen.

So proud of the team.

We will get a goalie and if Saiz goes, I think it’ll be more likely we bring someone else in. I think in Bielsa we have somone who deals with each obstacle in a very calm and professional way. Aus, I think he has made a lot of comments about how important and difficult the December period is. Given how well he has coped with what has been thrown at him so far, he deserves a bit of trust. Let’s see how he does, up until now it’s been good!

It’s a shame, I like Samu, but Not sure Bielsas regime Matches his approach to the game or his temperament! It’s a good move for him, they are 8th in the league and he came to us from a second division club. The timings not good! Can’t believe that some people at the club haven’t known for a bit, so hope that we have been planning for a life without him! I’d make the most of him in the December games and hope he puts on a farewell show for us.

Alf, certainly good to have him fit and breathing down Roofes neck, particularly if what Wex is saying is true and he is earning double what Roofe is earning!

Bright, honestly not looking beyond the Championship, I think we might need a few more tweaks before the champions league beckons. Just looking at what we need to do to improve this year and ease the worrying! Doesn’t even need to be a new player, because we have brown and Bamford to play with as well. I want us to nail promotion this year, the opportunity is there and we have worked so hard to get it. I’m sure the comments about scoring more are probably what bielsa would say himself.

09 Dec 2018 08:01:28
I agree Shadwell, I think that is why Roofe almost fought Hernadez to take the penalty! He was keen to make his figures look better.

When you look at this group of payers, only one key area to improve on that would make an enormous difference to our ability to close out games. Strike rate of goals from opportunities. We should have got 1/ 2 goals early in that game yesterday. If we can score more, the dynamic of the game changes and we don’t have so many scary moments in the last 10 minutes. Our fitness, hard work and team spirit is still pulling us through, but find a way of scoring more and we will be the finished product.

Absolutely no point making a player like Saiz stay if he and his partner don’t want to be here in the UK. Doesn’t make us a selling club, it’s a sensible response. I think he’s a player that needs to feel happy to deliver his best. Good luck to him.
