Djed Spence confirmed.

1.) 30 Aug 2023 10:47:07
Welcome Djed.

Hopefully a great addition. shame there isn't an option to buy for if he does really well.

2.) 30 Aug 2023 10:47:42
Is he an upgrade on what we have. Seems two spuds managers not played him?

3.) 30 Aug 2023 11:12:11
Kink Kong Bundy would be an upgrade on Razzy Aus.

4.) 30 Aug 2023 13:57:47
Raz gone Chris.

Rumoured to be in talks with Brighton to loan Argentinian CAM wonderkid Facundo Buonanotte, who they signed last January from Rosario Central, and who broke into their first team towards the end of the season, grabbing a goal and an assist.

I guess others on here will also have seen to story speculating that Meslier’s return to the starting lineup in league at the start of the season may actually be a mutually agreed way of putting him in the shop window, given the player’s evident hope to play at a higher level this season, and the Club’s apparent willingness to facilitate a move.

Of course, like so much that has and will be written about our Club, this may be pure speculation/ conjecture, though such an approach would make sense for both parties.

Rumoured to be in for Pantelis Chatzidiakos - 26 year old Greek (no prizes for guessing that) CB at AZ Alkmaar and current Greek international with 27 caps. Looks to be decent defensively, with reasonable pace and good with the ball. A lot more senior experience than Nat Phillips and seemingly a better player.

Clueless1

1.) 06 Aug 2023 20:19:14
Current Greek international to the Championship. as if.

2.) 06 Aug 2023 23:21:36
Baz What if we throw LOADSAMONEY? ?.

3.) 07 Aug 2023 00:01:28
Someone should let Norwich know it's not allowed.

4.) 07 Aug 2023 12:30:11
Baz mate, think you’re mistaking Greece with Argentina mate. He will earn more in the championship at Leeds than he does at AZ in the Dutch league.
It appears personal terms have already been agreed.

5.) 07 Aug 2023 21:14:47
Fair point Sweats
IF he signs I am wrong

But is he any good?

17 Jul 2023 22:58:54
If Ampadu is confirmed, Glen Kamara also signs, and Adams stays, it would seem likely that Lewis Bate will be going out on loan again. If the Club believes he can develop into a quality deep lying playmaker, perhaps one worthwhile option could be to offer him for loan to Radz at Sampdoria - there can’t be many better coaches for the lad to develop under than Andrea Pirlo.

Clueless1

1.) 18 Jul 2023 00:34:48
There'd have to be serious penalty clauses inserted into the deal for a possible lack of playing time. ?.

2.) 18 Jul 2023 09:19:35
Yes, obviously George. However Bate should certainly be of a decent enough standard to play in Serie B.

3.) 18 Jul 2023 09:43:18
That would be great experience for the lad!

4.) 18 Jul 2023 15:53:35
Why doesn't the lump Orta take him to Sevilla to develop ?

Oh that's right because he's another dud he signed.

5.) 18 Jul 2023 17:52:02
Who has peed in your pocket Today CC?

Pressed send too soon by mistake.

As I was saying, why send out our theoretically strongest side away to Preston, losing with a totally predictable lacklustre performance - when fresher replacements could actually have done a job against a Preston team low on confidence. Resting key players v Preston would have meant the strongest side could have been played against the more difficult of our last 2 opponents.

I just don’t understand how such a manager with such successful Champ experience has made such seemingly rookie errors of judgement.

Anyway, here’s hoping we have some judicious squad additions lined up to be brought in ASAP this month.

Clueless1

1.) 01 Jan 2024 09:01:54
I think the answer you're looki
ng for is in your user name ??.

2.) 01 Jan 2024 11:05:41
Some underlying issues with Farke. I still think he's done well all things considered. We were a club in turmoil over the past year (or longer) and he's righted the ship, so to speak. Plus, no one expected both Leicester and Ipswich to have record breaking points tallies over the first 20 games (or whatever it was) . Having said that, I do feel some things are starting to become noticeable. Namely:

*Lack of squad rotation (esp for games where we are playing lessser opponents) .
*Head scratching substitutions, leading to unworkable formations, or lack of substitutions when certain players are being overrun - eg; Archie Gray vs Preston.
*A seeming inability to be more versatile when plan A isn't working. Simply throwing all our attacking players on doesn't qualify as plan B.

3.) 01 Jan 2024 13:04:36
Plan B schoolboy tactics all attackers on upfront in same central space are startling bad.

4.) 01 Jan 2024 13:44:56
Another good post dill.

5.) 01 Jan 2024 14:19:50
Ay up Clu hope you are well mate.

01 Jan 2024 08:29:24
Not at the ‘Farke out’ stage, but looking back over the last few months I can’t help feeling some of our damaging losses could have been avoided with more sensible squad rotation.

Why on earth did Farke choose to play a weaker side away to Stoke, when we had the far easier game at home to Huddersfield comiing up straight after in which he could have rested players and still got a win. And why play a knackered strongest side away to Preston.

Clueless1

1.) 01 Jan 2024 11:53:26
I think we were on a winning run in November so why change what is working well. For me the main problem is that we haven’t been getting the ball in the net with all the chances we have been creating.
It seems the opposition only need one or two shots on target to score but we take far too many to score.
It’s mainly our attackers who have been wasteful on goal.
I think it’s too easy to knock Farke about rotations, substitutions, formations etc etc
At the end of the day if you are creating chances on goal you are doing something right but when your players are missing their opportunities on goal they have to do better. You can make all the excuses you want but scoring goals usually equals winning matches and our forwards have got to do better.
Starting with this afternoon.

2.) 01 Jan 2024 13:12:06
Silly post OP . its the exact opposite of what you state : ' at the end of the day if you are creating chances on goal you are doing something right " ?

Leeds United are NOT creating chances away especially NOT on target

Stoke 3 chances
Sunderland 2 chances
Preston 2 chances
W. B. A. 1 chance on target.

3.) 01 Jan 2024 13:40:15
You know very well what I’m talking about Baz, there’s no need to play the silly card with me to try and make me look stupid.

4.) 01 Jan 2024 14:04:52
Hmm nope OP quoted you verbatim and your post was black and white no shade . its ok you were mistaken life goes on.

5.) 01 Jan 2024 14:27:12
Too much use of the words “silly” and “stupid” lately.
Neither are relevant to people’s opinions.

6.) 01 Jan 2024 14:55:46
Making creativity in the box doesn’t mean solely shots on target. I did write creating opportunities in the oppositions box.
You could try a little Baz.

01 Sep 2023 16:02:42
With Chelsea’s Maatsen confirmed as returning to Burnley for another loan stint, there may be an increased possibility we could get Charlie Taylor in at left back.

Clueless1

1.) 01 Sep 2023 16:13:47
Yes ? please ??.

2.) 01 Sep 2023 16:30:43
No thanks.

3.) 01 Sep 2023 17:01:19
?? You prefer Firpo?

4.) 01 Sep 2023 17:29:16
I’ve changed my mind, so yes please, too.

5.) 01 Sep 2023 18:22:27
Taylor would be an upgrade for sure but he's burned his bridges. Same as Gnonto I don't want either here.

6.) 01 Sep 2023 20:26:15
?? Hear you on Willy. Regarding Charlie, there is an alternate narrative which says ? dropped him and put out false propaganda when his move to Clarets was about to happen. He's also a Leeds fan apparently. At least his reported tantrums were during the height of toxicity this club has ever known which explains and somewhat excuses his possible (mis) conduct.

31 Aug 2023 18:01:00
Good to see that Carrick has taken Greenwood on loan to help provide more versatility across the front line at Boro. His natural attributes lend themselves far better to attacking roles within the team and yet the lad hasn’t been given opportunity in the first team to develop as a forward at Leeds, but rather shoehorned into central midfield.

Hopefully he’ll grab this opportunity and really kick on, and so become a genuine option for us next season, even if we’re in the Prem.

Clueless1

1.) 31 Aug 2023 18:42:26
Like Geldhart and others he's another that's been badly managed by the club.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 18:50:10
Let’s see, and hope that he comes back to Leeds a much improved player.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 19:09:08
Joffy has had many more chances than Greenwood, but it’s often overlooked Joffys goals scored and assists when Brenty claimed the credit for keeping us up.

Clu is spot on when he say’s Greenwood was bought as a striker after a prolific record in the Arsenal academy, and being two footed increased his versatility.

I understand people say they’re never going to be good enough but I lean towards abject management of our brightest prospects including Gyabi and Cresswell.

Loans could do them all the power of good but seriously loaning to a promotion rival? Leicester wouldn’t sell Thomas to us for that very reason. (Allegedly)

Wish them all well hope they return better players for it, Cody is an outlier but enough coaches have all thought the same so maybe it’s an attitude issue?

27 Aug 2023 08:49:41
Our last two refs have been an OT fan and a Huddersfield fan - thought I read somewhere a couple of years ago that the powers that be tried to ensure refs appointed for each game didn’t support a team with any historic/ geographic ‘rivalry’ with either of the teams involved.

The officiating in both games left a lot to be desired. Both refs were very lenient with our opponents in terms of fouls/ bookings - Baggies should have been reduced to 10 men and, Ipswich likewise.

Clueless1

1.) 27 Aug 2023 09:19:14
And assistant refs forked up on offside too.

2.) 27 Aug 2023 09:30:23
What Cluey and Baz said.

3.) 27 Aug 2023 09:37:44
I know an EFL Lino and if they support say Man U, they are told to put say Rochdale on their forms as it’s deemed less likely to offend/ cause issues.
More evidence of wrongdoing at the top of the game.

4.) 27 Aug 2023 14:01:54
Baz - indeed re asst refs.

There were suggestions that Buonotte may end up staying, following the injury to Julio Enciso, but the reported Ansu Fati loan from Barcelona may enable Brighton to loan out Buonotte afterall.

Guessing you mean intend to make 4 signings, of which 2 today - presumably Kamara and Gruev as per Romano “here we go” etc etc.

It’s good to finally get the Kamara deal today done today (subject to medical of course) , as with Gruev (ditto) that should see us well covered for DM/ CM and able to concentrate on getting the last 2 signings sorted - hopefully LB and CAM.

The only one linked to date that seems to be anywhere close to coming for a medical would be Kamara, and it would be a huge relief to get that one actually over the line, as at least it sounds like he wants to come here and is definitely a decent player. The rest of the midfield links seem to have question marks over fitness or interest in the deal either by club or player.

Of course the announcement of a previously unlinked, and quality, player would also be very welcome.

Even if Norwich win (hopefully only by a small margin) , Hull would theoretically still be able to get past them, but obviously with a significant swing in goal difference.

While. Coventry will have nothing as a team/ club to play for hopefully their best players will want to put in a decent effort against one of the top teams to prove their quality to potential suitors who could provide an alternative route out of the EFL. Obviously the dual disappointment of just missing out on FA Cup final and now falling short of playoffs won’t help the atmosphere in the stadium, but I guess beating high-flying Ipswich would be the last thing for them to aspire to for this season - one last hurrah, their final game at home to QPR is hardly one to set the pulses racing.

Much straw-clutching, I know, and the proof of the ‘pudding’ will be in the watching/ listening, from behind the sofa.

George (and others similarly afflicted) , will you ever be able to resist the itch of school playground name calling? - it’s not funny and it’s not clever, even if combined with what you seem to consider ‘clever’ wordplay. This site would be all the better if you could - and more folk might stick around/ contribute.

And as a follow-on question (to both Baz and George) , if our current owner, director and management structure had been in place in July 22, do you honestly believe that (on the basis of the evidence to that point) they would have kept Leif Davis at Leeds with a promise of significant Prem first team involvement that season and thereby convinced him to sign a new or extended contract?

I’m sorry Baz, but your beef on Davis being sold is very much with the benefit of hindsight. Up to the point of his sale he had very little first team experience, partly through manager preference and partly due to a succession of niggling injuries. He had just spent a season in the Championship with Bournemouth, during which he made the match day squad for just 17 of 46 fixtures, starting just 7 times, being subbed on 5 times and amassing a total of less than 600 minutes. Granted, he started each of their three cup games, but over the season he played less than 850 minutes, and chipped in with just 1 assist. The previous season, he was in Bielsa’s Prem squad for 25 of the 38 matches, getting 2 sub appearances for a total of 31 minutes under Bielsa. It was Bielsa’s decision to let him go on loan the next season. Bielsa had included him in the previous season’s Champ match day squad 11 times, handing him 3 sub appearances for a total of 13 minutes.

When he was sold in July 2022, there was little evidence to suggest that he would become a reliable option for the Prem, which was the level we were playing at. Granted the same could have been said of Firpo, but Davis was not the obvious answer to that problem. In relation to Davis specifically, ideally we would have sent him out for another Champ loan, giving him a further opportunity to develop, and to show he could be a reliable (form and fitness) option at that, and possibly Prem level. Unfortunately, his contract was expiring in June 23, so a new or extended contract would have been needed. Davis himself wanted some certainty in his future and didn’t favour a further loan with the possibility he might later establish himself at Leeds but rather to become settled somewhere as a first teamer - ruling out agreement on new/ extended contract - so at that point all available evidence suggested the best option for the Club was to cash in on him then, rather than lose for free at the end of the season. Even if he had agreed to go out on loan again, Davis would have been a free agent last summer, with no guarantee he’d have agreed a new deal at that point, if indeed Farke had wished to offer one.

Can you point us to any contrary evidence at the point he was sold (July 22) , which suggested that Davis would become a reliable attacking fullback at Champ level, let alone a reliable option at Prem level, which is where he would have had to play had he stayed at Leeds that season, and where we desperately hope we will be playing next season? Given the defensive shortcomings others have alluded to, if we do manage to get promoted, would you be advocating his starting in the Prem next season?

Hopefully not having Ayling (who has started every game and actually played decently for them) or Greenwood (who’s started 4 of the last 5 games and would have scored the winner v Ipswich but for a fine save by their keeper) will diminish Boro at least a little. Yes, I know, probably grasping at straws a little.
