I can't see we'll get Larsen as there seems to be competition and the opening demand of £40m is way out of our league at the moment. Don't think he's worth that anyway but even at £25m is the money available? Wilson might have been another option but the Hammers want to hold on to him.
Someone mentioned Terem Moffi last week as a potential target.

He didn't win the tribunal last week to cancel his contract with Nice but the club wants to resolve the situation with a sale or a loan. Don't know much about him except he's 6 ft 2, seems to have quick feet and scores a goal every three games. Anyone know any more about him?

When we had played 19 games I predicted to my chums that by the time we'd played 26 we'd be 14th and we would finish the season on 53 points and I am sticking with those positions.

10+ finish is nailed on for us.

10+. Have I missed something here. We expecting the 4 below us plus spuds Bourne palace plus to finish below us.
Pass me the sherbet. Where as I do think we will need safe I also feel it’s going to be a scuffle.
2 have gone but the rest will fight for their lives.

According to the stats and data, Leeds are underperforming (xG and xPoints)

Leeds should be where Sunderland are
Burnley should be where Leeds are
And Sunderland should be where Burnley are

We aren't a piece of turd team, even before we hit our good run we had missed out 6-9 points through poor performance and bad luck.

Let's say the Fulham header doesn't go in and we win a game we should have won (Burnley or forest) and look where we would be in the table.

The idea that we deserve 16th at best is not based in reality.

I get the feeling of being a Leeds fan and how leedsy Leeds can be, and how having hope and optimism is often met with soul crushing defeat but we are underperforming. We're a mid table team as a newly promoted club.

We could be leedsy and collapse. We could keep rising the high and end where we should.
I'm keeping optimistic.

That, and I made a sportsman bet with Ed that we would finish 10+. I believe it.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2026 19:06:56
Admire your optimism Mo, but to get to 10th we need to pass 6 teams. Everton are currently 10th on 32 pts to our 25 so we also have 7 points to make up. *I'll be charitable and just say "unlikely".

Agree1 0Disagree

19 Jan 2026 20:00:09
We deserved to lose against NF and Burnley.
I do agree we dropped a good few points though. Fulham, Bournemouth and Brentford and also Sunderland are games which spring to mind. That’s a minimum 7 points there.
I suppose most teams will say the same?
Can’t think of many games where we were fortunate to pick up points. Probably the Liverpool games?

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2026 20:31:15
Football is always full of ifs and buts, but we're 16th because of our performances over the season so far. After 12 games we were 18th just behind Spam on GD with 11 points. Over the 10 games since then we have been the 9th best team in the league whilst they have been 19th hence our 8 point lead over them.

We just have to keep it up and we'll be fine, mebbe even up to 10th. 🙂.

Why? Is Buannanotte going back to Chelsea? We need a CB and another wing back. They're going to keep us up. A striker would be great but if money is tight I'd wait until next season when we should be a more attractive destination.

The YEP works with Leeds and if the club wants these rumours to be kept hidden, or the transfer information to be kept secret like Bounenotte, then it stands to reason that the YEP would be told to poo poo the rumours.

Or maybe I'm coping because Schmid looks mint.

If we got by Farke's previous two seasons, we start poor, hit a great run, then fall to bits towards the end.

Don't panic if we start losing points left and right or start losing games again. We won't be relegated.

Agree1 0Disagree

18 Jan 2026 19:53:25
Wolves are down and Burnley fans are reconciled to a season in the Championship next year. A small club with a big tradition but they're now one of the yo-yo clubs. If we continue with the current system with enough back up players we'll get enough points to survive-by a good margin. And the Hammers will have a season or more in the second tier.

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Jan 2026 13:06:11
I think the pressure of a promotion season is different to the relegation battle we are in this year so not so sure about the falling to pieces. Started poor as we struggled with new signings and adjusting but doing really well now. let's hope it continues. like how we are at least tough to beat - particularly at home - which is half the battle.

High praise for our skipper yesterday from Mr Keane, who tbf, has a great eye for MF talent, and while I despised him as a player, and the criminal thuggery he inflicted on Alfie, I do like as a pundit!
Worth looking up his views on Amps on that there tinternet thing, as his assessment is bang on.

Amps has really been instrumental in our turnaround on the pitch, and if it's to be believed, tactically too!
What a signing he has proved to be, and long may he stay, and such form last!

No, I don't believe there was any of that sensationalist garbage, created and promoted by trash media outlets and mindless "content creators".
However, I think its feasible that Farke discusses a lot of things with his club captain, and player lead team that he appointed, and that a plan was collectively agreed upon, most likely proposed by the gaffer.

Will 40 points be enough?
3 wins, 6 draws with 7 defeats gets us the 40 points.
4 wins and 3 draws and 9 defeats the same.
Surely to god that’s doable?
West Ham to get to 41 points considering current goal difference would need 6 wins and 6 draws from last 16 games.

Or 7 wins and 3 draws.
I can see DF continuing the defensive lineup to achieve this. Keep racking up the points with draws and the odd win here n there.
Our survival is well n truly in our hands.

36 has been enough for almost the last decade.
The point a game marker should be good enough although we are Leeds so we can get 40 and still go down.
Don't worry about the number, just keep winning and all will be well, a win on Monday will drag another team into the mix!

In the last 30 years since the Premier League went to 20 teams the average points needed to stay up has fallen in every 10 year period: 37.3 to 35.9 to 33.0. This is a reflection on the difference between the standard of teams in the Premiership and the three who are promoted from the Championship. They find it extremely difficult to compete with the "established" teams, particularly in the last two years when 27 and 26 points would have meant survival.

This year Sunderland and United have bucked that trend so points needed will be higher. Excluding the last two years the ten year average is 34.7 and apart from one year,15/ 16 when 38 points was needed, 36 points secured survival in every year.
We should be able to smash that. I'd be disappointed if we didn't.

Agree1 0Disagree

18 Jan 2026 17:16:39
Wolves will struggle to get past 30, Burnley mebbe low 30s, Sham and Florists I see getting 36 or 37. So for us 40 could be more than enough. Looking at our remaining fixtures I see at least 5 winnable games, which even if we lost all the rest could take us to 40.

Also don't forget Florists still have the added distraction of the Europa league, so they might stumble along the way. Our last game of the season is Sham at ER on May 24 that one will be a real knicker gripper if we don't have survival guaranteed by then.

18 Jan 2026 17:30:06
And don't discount Bournemouth, Spuds and Palace getting dragged into thd dogfight either. Bournemouth have just lost their best player (Semenyo) , Spuds are just a mess and now that Guehi has gone and Glasner has had a rant at Palace owners, and they still have the Eufa Conference league to negotiate who knows how they will react.

18 Jan 2026 19:12:33
Anyone could be dragged in to it the way things are going this season with everyone dropping points and it’s still very close at mid down but saying that I believe there is only one place free at the bottom can’t not see the bottom two moving up.

Agree with DF, in this was possibly our best win of the season to date.

We completely nullified one of the top form team of the league, without two of our best players in recent weeks in Stach and Bijol.

Thought Gruev was a must sell previously but thought he was excellent yesterday and did more than everything asked of him.

Thought Darlow back resulted in a calmer back four overall.

We now look the side that nobody wants to play and that’s all credit to Daniel, now I would like some extra reinforcements especially at CF and CB but the spirit in this current group looks exceptional so I think they will wait until the near the end of the window.

Agree with most of that Class, with a couple of caveats / additions.
Defensively, Rodon was his usual assured self, Pasc had one of his better games and was also very composed and commanding, while JJ was a new face in the back 3 and was excellent. I don't believe the presence of Darlow had a jot of owt to do with their collective performances, and had a fairly easy afternoon, but ballsed up big time with that indecisive header which could have cost us.

Regarding Gruev, I think he's another who is an indispensable squad member and has never let us down when called upon. He was equally, if not more impressive vs Liverpool, I think it was?
Like I said, largely agree, but that's my 2pence on those points.

2pence away Brighty I completely agree with all your comments,

Dropping Peri was a tricky one, people forget how tough it is to come to another league, country, new system but I suppose I was praising Farke’s decisiveness in bringing in Darlow to give Peri a chance to regroup but also send a message.

I think Farke dithered for too long with Ilan but has gone up another gear on his decision making of late.
