Missed the game yesterday but been told Schmitt played well. Saw the hi lights and he looked good. Any opinions from those who saw the game?

Slot out! Too many changes, what an idiot manager. I mean who would hire him.

Liverpool fans must be gutted … or do you think they are ok with it as they are top of the leauge?

Baz, Leeds and Liverpool in the same boat; top of the table is more important.

Their fans will be disappointed with how their B team played, in the same way we are.

Here you go boys.
Think on this.
I've been wondering of late what makes mez a 5 out of 10 shop stopper. Statistically prob less than that. And a bad goalkeeper.
I've figured it out. He is scared. He dosent want to injure himself.
He is not willing to come for a ball that he needs to clatter into his own or opponents players because he is frightened.
That is the only possible reason he is so bad at crosses, timing and positioning.
Eat your hearts out chaps.

Agree7 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 13:31:02
Agree he is not brave nor tough at all.

But its his lack of commonsense that is mainly behind his woeful positioning and decision making.

that Everton nightmare goal when he ridiculously went walkies vacating his goal entirely ughhhhh for starters. worst ever error!

Don’t really want to think about it Aus, won’t do any good. He’s our keeper until the summer I reckon! Hope he and his coaching team are thinking about it as that’s their job. If he makes no more howlers and saves a few line against Cove try, that will probably do us!

Glad the DA cup is over for us. Useful to give that 11 a run out and learn from it. Thought Chambers looked good and justified his inclusion!

Great keeper

As Nigel martyn said

He is far better than me… I trust martyn maker than you both.

Countless amazing saves, one on ones, 200 caps and still very young.

Why in his last gane he was pretty much motm …, but keep going lads… slow clap for you both

I’m not saying he ain’t made a couple of mistakes but what keeper ain’t? What he don’t deserve is people like you both on his case.

As my nan use to say you ain’t got anything nice to say… f%%k off.

Agree3 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 16:10:13
I just don’t see the point of this anymore. It’s utterly futile, as Spanish alludes to. We have him for the rest of the season. End of. Nowt more to say, nowt new to say.

Couple of mistakes? (ie.2.) . nah Berma . literally scores ( multiples of 20 )

Saw a LUFC tribute show reel of very modest humble Nigel Martyn great saves last week ( re celebrating his birthday ) .

1) Nugel Martyn literally made countless similar saves to the Mes save on goalline vs Cov

And

2) very importantly Nigel Martyn never made ( multiple) clangers leading to goal concessions

I can not think of any serious clangers Nigel Martyn made in his Leeds career . feel free to correct one with details of a specific example vs which team
Good luck Berma!

I was wondering how long it would take to give Meslier another good daily bashing, 24hrs approximately. !

Agree1 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 17:14:52
Baz, I just Googled “Meslier Great Saves” and found a lot of long video packages with loads of his great saves….

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 17:20:09
And Berma you clearly did NOT listen to your nans advice on your numerous condemnations of Bielsa, KP and many others over the years!

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 17:36:30
Baz just because my nan said it don’t mean I listened, I’m an awful person but with kp and bilsea absolutely spot on

As my mate ms say they only leeds fan who knew truth about kp! Maybe I’m genuis, some might say legend some might even say oricle or as most agree simply smarter than you!

Martyn made loads of mistakes ever keeper has. Peter schimlce probably best keeper in my lifetime or up there and remember his mistake from cross that allowed chapman to head into empty net… that goal literally won us the leauge.

If you watch the leeds season reviews you will see a good few handling errors and awful ability on any cross

Blackburn and Man Utd when mugged twice by cole in one game stand out to memory without looking it up

That said martyn was class just o agree with martyn I honestly think mes has potential to be better in six years time when he hits he’s peak

Keep that in mind six years till he hits his peak… frightening potential.

Berma your bet was KP would never get even close to getting one full international England cap

Problem for you is that KP picked up over 30 England caps

and more than that was voted England Player of the tournament at Euros

You were wrong Berma; that's life fella!

Agree1 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 17:59:54
Berma you haven't named any clangers re Martyn

And

19 year old Johm Lukic was better and more reliable than 25 year old Meslier.

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 18:20:06
I did baz read or shut up

I said v Blackburn and two mistakes v Man Utd where he got mugged by cole twice. Every keeper makes mistake only a moron would say otherwise

I love lukic to the point my youngest has lukic as her middle name but he made mistake v rangers punching ball into own net and playing for arsenal he let in a cross and near post clanger v spurs which they still remember

Mayan was great for me robsinson was our best ever but opinions are opinions

But to say martyn never made mistakes is laughable to the point of being muggy

To say mes ain’t made countless world class saves I. Our net is blind

Mes is young for a keeper played 200 games plus git bags of potential and most importantly he is ours

And yes kp did get England caps and a 46 million pound move to city to do nothings

All this shows is I clearly know more than pep and southgate. Which if you look at my football manager save Is obvious even to you baz.

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 19:02:07
This is getting ridiculous. As Spanish says he’s our keeper currently so let’s support the lad.
Is he a EPL quality keeper now? No definitely not. But he has shown he has the attributes to be a very good player. However he has to learn to stay focused and stop making mistakes so often which he currently does. He’s not great on crosses but can improve although never will he be that kind of keeper who collects everything a bit like our best ever keeper Nigel Martyn.
And Bermo if you think that Martyn actually believes he was an inferior player to Mez then your off your nut.
It’s like when English reporters ask top European players how good was say Paul Scholes and someone like Xavi says he’s the best he ever played against take that with a pinch of salt.
Can Mez become a top goalkeeper? Maybe. But do we have the time as a club to take that chance upon promotion?

Cork mes just played first season in prem and was one of the best keepers in the leauge martyn said

At 21 he has just been one of the leagues best keepers at that age I was in rymans south division! Mes has all the qualities to be a far better keeper than I ever was.

Now I will admit since then he hasn’t pushed on like he would of hoped but still shown world class abilities just also his mistakes have become more frequent but I still think at 24 he has ability to beat our goat if he progresses as he did our first year in prem.

He gets slated for ability in air but he is actually decent in this department by Morden day standards far better than martyn who couldn’t catch and cold and had Teflon gloves. That said martyn had world class shot stopping ability just like mes on his day… he just needs to have his day a bit more consistently abd he will be one of the best in the world… he has the ability just needs the mindset which o think will come with age.

On this day.
. in 2021, Rapha destroyed Gary Cahill with that insane nutmeg.

Just for info.
Carry on.

Agree4 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 13:43:39
Rapha's show reel is definitely a treat including that phenonenonal skill against (albeit has been) Gary Cahill

some Leeds fans say he is Keeds most talented skillful player ever . but is he?

Not sure if he edges Eddie Gray or Harry Kewell for skill and talent . add Mark Viduka Tony Yeboah and others too to that list too.

And all four have scored many far more phenomenal goals for Leeds United.

Agree2 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 15:33:39
Rapha grey rutter have to be most skilful

Viduka was flair and class more than skill, yeboha scored great goals but don’t think I ever see him use a single bit of skill?

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 15:57:32
So scoring great goals isn't a ' skill'? . give over Berma

Many of Yeboah's goals were more than that even. they were works of art,

Viduka too ; his 3rd of his 4 goals vs Liverpool tremendous for starters

Rutter? sorry not anywhere near the level of the 5 mentioned above.

Agree1 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 16:15:10
Yeah Baz, I wouldn’t be one of those saying that, but Rapha was different, and special, and we were blessed to have him for that short time. We have had many special players over the years, but special in their own ways. Gio’s ball control in one match with his legs crossed behind him for instance. Eddie very skilful, but in a different era. Kewell had vision, but I despise him for what he did, so isn’t worthy of mention in the same breath imo.

Agree1 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 16:42:28
You may dislike Kewell re his choice of club and more than fair enough but

bottom line re comparing skills and talent alone Kewell was undoubtedly blessed with superb skills and talent.

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 17:40:18
Scoring goals is an art form and of course skill but not in the sense of this arguement

Skill in refferance to this thread is beating players and skills with the ball not scoring

But then I’d expect you to not understand or choose to ignore for own narrative… makes a change hey fellas for baz to do that

Yeboha great player rutter immensely skilful and great to watch for different reasons,

Comparing yeboha to rutter in terms of skill is like comparing a rock singer to an opera singer or a bbq chef to a pasty chef … skills come in all different shapes and sizes … just like pillocks.

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 19:16:28
Rapha would be the best in the world if he had pace but what a player and as Bright said we were privileged to have him at Leeds.
Rutter I just never got. Great sometimes to watch but way to erratic and un composed. Hopefully he proves me wrong as he’s still young and seems like a lovely geezer.
Eddie Gray by far the most skilful player we ever had especially when you consider the pitches he played on. Before my time but even watching the old clips…. unbelievable.
Kewell was a great all round talent, had the lot. If it wasn’t for injuries he could have been anything. As for his professional choice at one time, well life moves on and we all make mistakes. Top top player though.

Are some over hyping Rutter . for Leeds he was playing against mediocre Champo players

Meanwhile in a much higher EPL standard league Rutter costing Brighton a large £40 million . in
23 games has 4 goals and just 2 assists

Okish stats perhaps?

Be interested to know how Brighton fans overall rate him. He definitely has talent but.

I have also read that Rutter is finding Brightons fitness regime too difficult to handle

And if you watch last weeks Nottm Forest SEVEN goal thrashing of Brighton. Rutter is ambling around the pitch offering little to no defensive assistance at all.

Player ratings.
Darlow 6. Two deflected goals. Reverted to hoof ball when needed. Solid enough.
Schmidt 7.9. All over the place. Nice touches. Covered for others errors.
Amps. 6. Did ok without looking too interested.
Struik. 5. Good save by goalie but shouldn't miss penalties.
Byram. 6. Yeah. Good defensively mainly but that's about it.
Gman 3. Keep for his dressing room presence only.
Roth. 6.9 Tried to make things happen without much success.
Chambers 6.5 Won't beat him up but should have scored but showed intent
Large. 5. Poor. Not interested
Gnonto. 4. Waste of time.
Joseph. 4. As above.
Subs. All 6.5. Too little too late.

Darlow two deflected goals, solid enough

Talk about fan baisis. Darlow made no saves and was beaten on near post. That was mes yesterday you’d of slaughtered him.

Agree5 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 10:34:14
That dosent make any sense. How can a goalie be blamed for two deflected goals. Stop with this mez comparison you lot. Talking about last nights game. Mez was on the bench. Didn’t play. So nothing to say about him.

Agree3 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 11:14:03
Agree with Berm here. If that was Mes he’d have been blamed for the loss. That second goal should have been saved regardless of the deflection. 2 shots on target and 2 goals.

Agree1 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 11:29:59
Darlow made zero saves and the second goal was near post and was a bit soft.

Yet you say solid enough what was solid enough? He did nothing well and a few things poorly

I’m not making the mes comparison, I’m just pointing out all season you’ve been harsh on mes, that’s just a fact now yesterday a keeper did poor and you say solid on no sound reasoning other than player baise

That’s not a comparison, that’s just pointing out your posts.

Agree2 0Disagree

09 Feb 2025 12:16:08
I’m not talking about mez guys. Jeez. You keep bringing him up.

Rami, chambers, Rothwell and Schmidt tried but never got the service they needed.
Rami was pretty much ignored in favour of the other wing.

I won't rate him too harshly but we need to bring him in to the game more, he was fantastic before his injury and he's fallen off since.

poor result but not too fused as more important games are business ahead.
A couple of unlucky deflections and some poor finishing, chambers should've scored and why we have struijk taking pens is baffling, please not again, surely moving forward has to be piroe, soloman and james as pen takers.
If and when we go up, need more players than i thought, played 2nd team but some very average performers.
Not impressed with Gman, gnoto, Largie and MJ (? 10 mil looks good now)
Liked look of chambers and schmidt, rest didn't do enough.
Good draw for Sunderland but Sheffield won which is disappointing, on to Tuesday and hopefully 3 more points.

good run out for the fringe players today. disappointing because we had enough chances to have won (and their goals were lucky) , and its always annoying losing but particularly against that team. Having said that i'm not bothered about the cup and the most important thing was to come out of it without injuries to our first 11.

Agree4 0Disagree

08 Feb 2025 22:37:44
What fringe players are we talking about? Apart from chambers, who looked more of a goal threat than Joseph. And chambers got hooked.

Make you and manston 100% right

When we go up no one will remember today. I’m gutted we beat Harrogate today was a game we didn’t need but at least farke rested a lot of players and no one got hurt.

Agree3 0Disagree

08 Feb 2025 20:56:08
We can't worry about the result today. The match on Tuesday is far more important - then successive games against auto promotion rivals. I was more concerned when they beat us in the league 1 v 0 at their place. The play offs against a team like this would be a nightmare. If we score first and early against this lot in the league fixture at ER I think we will then take them apart. Some personal observations from today - MJ doesn't appear up to it and £10m was a good offer - though I realise we have limited other options at the moment. Chambers looks interesting and an asset. Big G isn't fit/ quick enough and is no more than a late sub to try keep a lead. The team actually looked like they were just going through the motions today. Good to see Darlow (who was beaten by deflections for both goals) and Schmidt (good technical and mobile player) get some minutes. Onwards and upwards!

Agree4 0Disagree

08 Feb 2025 22:46:38
Manston you’re correct that the game on Tuesday is priority, but you happy getting beat at home to Millwall in the 4th round of the FAc cup? It’s not the first round of the wheeltapper and shunters amateur cup. All the comments of, oh rest the top lads, they will need it, nonsense.
When players are playing well and winning, they don’t want rested. All they want to do is keep playing well and winning. Even if we hopefully win the championship, or at least finish second, keep the momentum going v.
