I saw the big man watching Bournemouth v Everton. Who was he watching? For me I hope it was David Brooks. The lad is class.

Hopefully he isn't thinking of becoming Everton's manager.

Happy with the two Inter names bandied about. Both come highly recommended but both are young enough to not demand a starting berth every week. If we are to start playing three at the back then Struijk and Nolan should complement White and Cooper perfectly. If Nolan has the same ice cool attributes as White he will be a capture indeed.

leodis

1.) 04 Aug 2019 22:44:15
Yep, totally agree Leodis. White looks so confident with the ball at his feet, reminded me of Norman Hunter! Too soon tho, but just my first impression.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 16:20:06
More like a little Paul Madeley Bright.

3.) 05 Aug 2019 21:41:25
That’s the highest accolade there is Bige!

Please, please, please, let this Nolan* rumour be true.
*PS or pretty much any other decent CB.

We, supposedly, are interested in Striker Caicedo in Italy. 15goals in 2 seasons kind off says it all. What we have is way better than that. End of.

leodis

1.) 23 Jul 2019 23:11:23
Leo This is why it's not easy to improve on what you have unless you spend big which we simply can't do. It's always about value, at least at this level. I believe Edmondson will contribute this season but the spine of the defence is a concern.

2.) 24 Jul 2019 00:33:50
Not many decent strikers available to be fair, maybe Hugill. I have faith that Edmo will do the job if he gets the chance.

3.) 24 Jul 2019 10:31:57
What’s going on here!? This is the 3rd time I’ve agreed with you George!

4.) 24 Jul 2019 16:03:00
Yes George the only panic point I am creeping up on is Centre Back.

18 Jul 2019 14:54:39
Samu gone to Girona. Do we not play them 29 July?

leodis

1.) 18 Jul 2019 15:33:02
Indeed. Well, actually 27th isn't it. And Girona also play Derby two days previously, so it will be interesting which of those matches features the greater proportion of Girona's first team - of course there could be a mixture for both, and I guess Said could play in either.

Likewise, it will be very interesting to see which of our players are there and which in Sardinia. Presumably Bielsa will want his likely starters for Brizzle playing together, but we can only guess whether he will choose to take them to Sardinia or Tad.

Many thanks to Victor for all his smokescreen during the window. All to help him swoop for the left footed Croatian midfielder Lovro Majer. The guy is class and would flourish under Marcelos guidance. Now go and get him.

For the next game I would put Struijk in the back 4 and put Ayling in place of KP. He sure knows how to defend and the way he was (accurately) spraying 30/ 40 yard passes about was a joy to behold.

leodis

1.) 23 Oct 2020 22:33:59
Why change what worked so well in 2nd half?
Struijk was scammed by a couple of players milking a weak and naive challenge (as always replay showed Daley move his leg into Struijk while Struijk was pulling away) .
And can someone tell me how Daley didn't get a yellow for a blatantly VAR checked dive when Costa never touched him?

20 Oct 2020 13:35:26
How about, next game (or next but one) line up of
Meslier
dallas, Llorente, Koch, Ayling
Philips
Raphina, Pablo, Klich, Poveda
Rodrigo

With Pablo being nursed thro a season.

leodis

1.) 20 Oct 2020 14:24:48
Definitely the central defensive pairing of Koch and Llorente

And definitely Pablo.

2.) 20 Oct 2020 14:50:55
unbelievable how irreplaceable pablo is right now. best bit of business we've done in years signing him, and resigning him over and over. nobody changes a game and changes momentum so fast like he does, wolves sat off because they knew exactly what he can do, and you feel with better attacking players he'll only have more options.

matter of time before llorente gets a start you'd think, but i see it being cooper not koch that makes way, another great signing it seems. certainly don't feel like ben white would have done any better than koch and therefore i'd say koch is just as good if not better.

meslier another great signing, hats off to victor.

3.) 20 Oct 2020 17:30:04
I must admit I was unsure of Meslier at first but he really has come on bundles. His positioning his excellent which obviously helps when it comes to shot stopping. What did he cost 5 mill?!

4.) 21 Oct 2020 06:12:12
yes 5m Cork.

20 Oct 2020 10:56:49
On the whole the team played well enough to deserve a draw. Am looking forward to Koch settling in, with more confidence to show what he can do with long forward balls. A part of his game that was evident previously but now suppressed by short balls to one of the other back four.
It will now be interesting how the line-up settles down. For me the calls of Poveda/ Raphina on the wings seem hard to deny, also, who is the striker going forward Bamford or Rodrigo or further, who is the creative AM?
Whatever the answers are I feel that recruitment has been successfull and we now have a squad there who can certainly gain the longed for 40 points but more than that a top half finish.

leodis

1.) 20 Oct 2020 11:21:39
I personally thought that Koch's distribution was good last night with plenty of mid range passes finding their mark to wing backs and centre midfielders. Wolves are a more "street wise" team than us at the moment and their system stifled our fluid style. We had plenty of possession and opportunity to deliver the ball from the wings but we crossed hopeful balls into the box rather than picking out players, which made it easier for their rigid back three to contend with. The Bamford discussion is interesting because I personally felt that the movement of Rodrigo as the number 9 could have caused more problems for Wolves centre backs than the physicality of Bamford. Horses for courses as Bamford's style will be an asset against other opponents.

2.) 20 Oct 2020 13:34:33
Mistake not to begin the fixture with Pablo. Wolves are a second half side and a poor first half is their pattern so decision not to start with Pablo mystifying.

3.) 20 Oct 2020 14:29:13
Thoroughly agree George .

4.) 21 Oct 2020 06:15:14
probably guarding against further injury George.

19 Oct 2020 22:29:03
That, to me, was a 0-0 result a flukey goal that was well covered by Meslier until the deflection. Again it proves, if proof were needed that we deserve to be here.

leodis

1.) 19 Oct 2020 22:46:59
Indeed we really needed to make sure Wolves didn't score; they didn't deserve to # points accumulation.

Draxler, Really? let's just park him on the list between Messi and Bale. Just above Ronaldo (Christiano that is) .
Maybe he does prefer Paris to Leeds but he could live in Batley and get the train in.

The first big signing is the man himself. The rest will follow.

He would love to come back. It would make sense financially. He could live back at home and nip home for lunch and let the dog out. What's not to like.

What's even weirder.
End of May, LUFC v WBA. We win grab Europe and they go down.
Maybe worth a few bob.

Spanish, my go to for all things U23, great post. Couldn't care less about injuries or loss of form. Some real gems to step up.

Aye, but what Bielsa would do with James that counts. Anyway I don't think we need him, but who knows? Only Bielsa.

The power of punctuation!

What if Klich covers for Philips? Then CBs will be Struijk + Koch.
