What a shocker in more ways than one. Cannot wait for the close season. Today scores out of 10. Alioski 3 Harrison 3 Everyone else not a great deal better but we kept going down the left and that's where it fizzled out.

1.) 19 Apr 2019 19:53:23
Unfortunately leo, these performances always seem to happen at the worst time. Reminds me of the Wolves game under Monk. At least we have the lifeline of the playoffs this time, but if they can't perform when the pressure's on, they won't be winning them either.

2.) 22 Apr 2019 19:18:26
Tactics and selection were poor, the players were useless. This behing the scenes documentary isn't going to sell well. Last 2 games are pointless now, need to make 7 or 8 changes either way.

3.) 22 Apr 2019 20:58:55
New manager. Vinny84.

4.) 27 Apr 2019 20:47:39
All this resting players though we do need to tread carefully and make sure we do finish 3rd.

04 Mar 2019 16:46:01
If the rumours are right and we are after Harry Wilson (winger) what does that do to Daniel James (winger) plus the wingers we already have?

1.) 04 Mar 2019 18:16:32
Bub will teach them how to play in other positions 😉.

2.) 04 Mar 2019 19:56:18
Harrison goes back, Alioski isn’t necessarily best as a winger, Hernandez isn’t necessarily best as a winger and next year might benefit from rotation even more, Dallas more a squad player, Clarke should be a regular next year but depending on the league! Think we could cope with a couple!

3.) 05 Mar 2019 18:10:46
It was written in the currant bun. Don’t believe a word of it personally. Fishing.

4.) 06 Mar 2019 12:43:47
Leo I see Wilson more as a striker. Bub probably shares that view.

13 Feb 2019 22:06:03
Why are we chasing Daniel James. He was very ordinary tonight.

1.) 14 Feb 2019 00:14:56
Bielsa can turn ordinary looking players into great ones if they have the attributes he is looking for. James is ridiculously quick, Bielsa can work with the technical bits. Just need to make sure we don’t overpay for him.

2.) 14 Feb 2019 05:07:12
Good post Ali. He'll be worth just half the £12m in the summer due to his contract being closer to termination. Swans need the money, Jenks is out the way and James probably won't renew.

3.) 14 Feb 2019 08:18:06
He needs to get Sacko back and work his magic on him then ;-)

4.) 14 Feb 2019 08:59:15
Poor lad probably wanted to be in a white shirt

Imagine you’re offered a night with angelina jolie then at the last minute brad says no.

The bbq you’re all at two weeks later is going to be awkward

Same thing.

{Ed001's Note - erm he does play in a white shirt at Swansea mate. Just thought I should point that out....}

5.) 14 Feb 2019 11:49:23
Dammit Ed, you beat me to it 😊.

{Ed001's Note - sorry AL, I had a George moment of pedantry!}

6.) 14 Feb 2019 12:51:07
Ed001 Nowt wrong with that! I adore pedantry. Can anyone tell? 😆 Enjoy your day Ed001 and Staffy.

{Ed001's Note - I had not noticed mate....}

7.) 14 Feb 2019 15:38:04
I was going to say that pedants rule but George would get all pedantic and find issue with it 😁.

04 Feb 2019 21:59:27
In view of recent disappointments I hope MB, Orta and the team are taking time to identify as many game changers/ winners from the Championship as they can in the next few weeks. As he is so meticulous in his deliberations I hope he spends time poring over DVDs so that come the summer we can (depending on our situation) we can go after two or three top targets.

1.) 05 Feb 2019 10:52:02
Should have been done in January.

2.) 06 Feb 2019 18:54:23
Done in January we are up.

21 Jan 2019 11:50:09
How I hope I am wrong but I see the end of the season as a top six finish (would have taken that at the start of the season) and that we are 95% of a top two. It will take a good, final 10 days to change my opinion. Right now I am a little concerned (not panicking) about the recent number of losses we have incurred. It's down to MB to earn his corn and revitalise the team. The talent is there it's just been a little flat lately. Luckily (no disrespect) we have Rotherham coming up but all eyes are on the biggy/ 6 pointer on the second but that's just the start of a season defining month.

1.) 21 Jan 2019 14:27:43
Talent is their leodis and considering the injury ee have and suspensions of have expected this am out of losses. Talent doesn't keen experience and experience is as valuable as talent. Or something like that.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 18:10:27
We’re going up as champions

Keep the faith.

3.) 21 Jan 2019 21:09:56

4.) 22 Jan 2019 11:54:06
Wait till we beat Norwich then it might all be a bit clearer for you Leodis.

I was going to say we need a tweak not a clear out but when I look at the players who are out on loan I am not too sure. mid season we had 20 players out at other clubs plus the U23 squad. That's a hell of a pile to sort out. Personally I would like to take a closer look at the likes of Wilkes, Pearce, Shaugnessy, O'Connor, Coyle, Denton etc. Surely some of these are worth a try pre season. In fact if the had been available during this season they would have solved some of our injury/ form problems. I hope the powers that be have been keeping a close eye on these outsiders as any one of them could save us millions in the transfer market. Whatever happened to the Sarkic, Rey, Balboa and Machucas of this world. For goodness sake do not keep 45 names on the payroll, make some decisions.

1.) 18 May 2019 19:18:21
You are right about all the loanees, good to check them out again preseason, we will have a lot of faces at Thorp Arch. Hope we do like last year and effectively have two squads playing games. I’m assuming the B team will have some U. K. gigs whilst the First team goes to Australia which to be honest is seeming a bit of a distraction now!

Last year Bielsa used these games to test a few players out and Klich emerged big time from that. We could if we could unearth 1/ 2 more.

2.) 19 May 2019 10:29:31
Kind of agree with what you guys are saying, in that we should be having a look at all our loanees that are coming back from their loan clubs

However, I would like us to be ruthless this time around.

If Biesla doesn't see anything in one of then do one of 2 things.

Sell him for as much as we can. Take a loss if necessary.

Or if we get no takers then pay off the contract

I know a lot of people on here are bemoaning Biesla's use of a very small squad but in reality it feels like he has a hundred players to choose from.
Get rid of all the deadwood and allow breathing space for the little shootings to grow strong

I still agree with the idea of a smaller tight-knit squad, but I think that in the coming season that squad will be bigger as many youngsters have started to really step up, and more will in the coming months. Although we are not at the Man City level of two players for every position I do think we are getting close.

18 May 2019 16:21:06
Just a few thoughts on the summer recruitment. As far as defence is concerned; we have Ayling, Douglas with (Pearce, Coyle Denton, Hosanna, Dallas, Alioski, Berardi) Then Janssen, Cooper (O'Connor, Kitching, Shaugnessy, Struijk, Halme) . So that's 16 names for four positions. No need for a panic buy during the summer, just need a couple to come good and Bielsa to be more flexible and even more open to introducing young blood.

1.) 18 May 2019 16:33:21
We are ok at fullback . You forgot Leif Davis also . But CB is a conundrum. We definitely need three seasoned first choice CB’s if we want to be serious about automatic promotion. Will Pontus stay? Is he a team player anyway? Will Coops be super duper until the really big games when Calamity Coops reappears . The others are completely unproven and should be bonus players . And KP and Berardi are not consistent enough in that role . So if Pontus goes we need to buy two top class CB’s which won’t happen . If he stays only one .

2.) 18 May 2019 16:43:55
Think 1 good central defender would be a good move (2 if Pontus goes) a loan maybe, heard Chelsea don't want Onurria (think that's his name)

3.) 18 May 2019 18:09:44
The point I would make lads is that we do not NEED a lot of buying talk. From all the names mentioned the law of averages says that at least a couple will emerge (ala Shacks and Clarke) . Yes I too would never say no to a top quality CB but if money is tight we do not need to panic. Some of these have shown their capability already in previuos campaigns.

4.) 18 May 2019 19:30:32
I’m not sure we should be building around Cooper as first choice centre back or captain. We can’t forget that in our key moments this year we showed defensive and leadership frailties when we most least needed them! Cooper should have been leading the way with both. He is one of those that Bielsa possibly has taken as far as he can go.

If Pontus wants to stay and hasn’t been a real pain in the rear this year, making him captain, staying and leading the team, might appeal to him and might be a master stroke, if he doesn’t want to stay or Bielsa agrees with Noel Whelan, get shut and bring in 2 centre backs who can compete with Struick and Cooper for starting places but with Cooper expected as back up if he accepts that and wants to stay!

Goalkeeper is another position wide open for me! Good to see that we have retained Huffer and Miazak for another year, both look good prospects, but neither Bailey or Kiko really standout for me as Championship winning keepers!

5.) 18 may 2019 22:47:27
quality reqired!

6.) 19 May 2019 01:58:23
Spanish - BPF a year on now may be worth another try.

17 May 2019 19:11:59
A man stood outside a Catholic Church reading the Confession Times as he has not been for many many years. When he goes and it is his turn he enters the Cubicle and is surprised to find it is Central Heated, Carpeted, there is Guinness on tap, a full selection of Brandies Spirits etc. and even Semi- porno pics on the walls. When the Man sits down he says "Wow Father things have certainly changed since i last was here.
The Priest says "Get Out because you are on my side ".

16 May 2019 14:13:09
IF we do not want to promote from within may I suggest the ex Borussia Dortmund CB Neven Subotic as a new partner for Pontus. Bags of experience and affordable.

1.) 16 May 2019 16:54:03
I will be amazed if Pontus is still here next season.

2.) 16 May 2019 17:31:03
Lufc I will be amazed If Am Still here next season.

3.) 16 May 2019 20:18:46
Players come and go supporters are there forever through the good the bad and the ugly at my age i could do with seeing more good.

16 May 2019 11:23:15
Clearly Pablo does not have the legs for a full Championship season. He should be carefully managed next year whether that is to play him lightly thro the season or bench him for the first half and only play him for the crunch back end. We may even be pleasantly surprised is some of the U23s step up and do a job or even if we get a Pablo/ Saiz clone on loan from somewhere. Either way, as this years so nearly attempt showed, we do not need major surgery the recruitment of one or two (top quality) should suffice, along with the inclusions from the U23s.

1.) 16 May 2019 11:27:33
Pablo needs to retire and take a coaching role.

2.) 16 May 2019 11:40:35
Largely agree Leodis. Pablos reaction after Wigan, Brentford and Derby said a lot to me. It showed how much it meant to him. Each year it gets harder to put your body through it, more so with Bielsa. For him this was probably the final chance to finish in the premiership. Squad player with some coaching involvement could be the way forward for me. When we really needed him to be the Pablo we worship, he couldn’t do it and I think that hurt him even more than it has hurt the fans. Not easy to recover from that.

3.) 16 May 2019 12:13:22
agree spanish.

4.) 16 May 2019 17:21:23
One of our top scorers, and assisters, creating more chances than some of the top players in Europe!? Pablo will play a key role next year, as he has this. He just needs the back up to give him recovery time. Immense this season!

I dread the "same team again" statement but I think he is not a man for change. Personally I would like to see Odour for Harrison and, if necessary, Edmundson up front.

Agreed Batty it amuses me when "pundits" calculate the points from games yet to play. In this league any team can beat any team, as we have seen time and time again.

Agreed Mighty, we need to manage his appearances next season. Either revolutionarily leaving him out altogether until midseason or alternate him with other choices esp early season. As well as Boguszh, young Alfie McCalmont could do a job there. Maybe even Shacks.

Agreed lads. A Bielsa team runs out of gas at the crunch end of the season and we are surprised? My only worry now is that he is too entrenched to change.
