Looking at the squad and assessing it preseason, leaving the U23's aside to begin with, we currently have 16 outfield players who have played 10 or more championship level or above games, 7 x defenders, including, White, Dallas and Alioski, 3 x midfielders, 3 x wingers, 1 x number ten in Roberts and 2 x strikers . If you add 2 keepers to make a total of 18, for a squad of 25 to 27 players needed for the coming season, we currently will have to use 7, 8 or 9 of the U23's. Alongside this we don't appear to have any physicality in the squad (loose canons aside) . We know the strengths and weaknesses of the tried and tested players from last year. What we don't know is how much of a contribution will the U23's be able to make in their first real season . Don't know what everyone else's thought's on this are but its a big ask for this squad from where I am currently sitting.

Particularly considering we're already carrying injuries to Roberts, Ayling and possibly also Shacks and Forshaw, I'd definitely agree.

I’d rather see Gotts, mcalmont, Davis, get game time than take a punt on transfers

Think we’ve a decent crop coming through

They need to play.

Is Forshaw injured again? It is a concern that we have a squad of senior players who have not given us a full season for a number of years. I am talking about Cooper, Ayling, Berardi, Forshaw, Hernandez, Roofe and the ever so flimsy Roberts. This was part of our downfall last season.

Every Club gets injuries, but we do seem to have one or two chocolate soldiers.

I think most on here would like to see U23s given a chance, just feels like we are a couple short on the experienced side. I'd far rather see Forshaw moved out and replaced - which is my biggest concern about his possible current injury - reduces the chance of someone coming in for him.
