Had a thought, given Olympic Lyon failing to qualify for the Champions League they too are in a similar situation to OM, financial/points penalties from their FA.

I’d propose €50m double deal for Sulc & Fofana.
Both quality players: Fofana a left winger; Sulc can play anywhere behind the 9, this giving Big Dan options.


Bring in someone like Harder on loan (or Zirkzee from Man Utd is available) as competition for DCL.
Then a free transfer for Raphael Guerreiro or Zinchenko at LB.
And Zetterer and it's job done. 10/10 window.
Thank me later.

Fofana & Sulc would both be brilliant additions.
Both young at 21 & 25 so huge resale potential.

By the way, Spuds' situation has improved considerably today with a very good loan to buy acquisition of Marmoush from Citeh.

He is going to score and assist quite a lot of goals for Spuds.

Spuds being R fodder, as OP suggested the other day, looks very unlikely indeed now.

Interesting ideas. Wouldn't mind harder. People are harsh on a young striker who hasn't got the worst numbers. At his age, you'd think his output would improve over the next 18 months.

For me, it's a firm no to Guerreiro. He was quality in his prime, but very prone to muscular injuries like Gabby is, and a luxury player. He'd want more than a rotation lwb should command. I think he'd be unavailable more than available, and face the decline, and we'd be saddled with a yr or two we don't need.

Zinchenko has also had rotten injuries. I consider it unlikely, but I would offer him a trial.

If he makes that, a one year contract with an appearance triggering a second year would be sensible. He's 'still' only 29, but the injuries cursed him at Arsenal, Forest and Ajax. Would prefer Max Aarons over both of those if he's available.

Confess I don't know much about Fofana or Sulc (apart from we seem to have been linked with Sulc all window) . I don't think we'd go 50m euros in what's left of this window at all.

My shout would be stay alert to Harvey Elliot (buy) , Nick Woltemade (loan) , or everyone's favourite Flemming (but) should an opportunity for one of them appear.

My Newcastle supporting mate thinks he doesn't fit Jaissle's style at all. Not a 'my barber's second cousin's brother-in-law knows something.' Just a guy, feeling from home, that they might do something. Maybe my mate is reading too much into Wissa, Elanga, and Osula being the preferred forward line on opening day.
