TeamTalk saying we're interested in Wolves' defender Krejci. Not bad at all, but given Wolves triggered a £26m buy option, we would have to be in that region for them to make sense.
1.) 31 May 2026 17:46:36
What did we pay for Bijol? £18m. He's been good, and should only get better for having a season in the PL under his belt. He took a while to secure his place, but once he did, he's been well worth the money.
Not sure that £26m for Krejci is as good a deal.
29 Jun 2024 16:54:38
Archie off to Brentford for £35m it seems.
Devastating.
1.) 29 Jun 2024 17:03:59
No chance.
2.) 29 Jun 2024 17:22:05
My confidence in the 49ers stewardship of this club is dwindling.
3.) 29 Jun 2024 17:46:35
A deal up to £40m not to be sniffed at.
Now let the other bidders enter the game. This one ain’t over yet!
4.) 29 Jun 2024 23:39:07
I'll be sad to see him leave. He's a cracking player and a Leeds lad.
We can't be selling all our assets or we've no chance next season.
5.) 30 Jun 2024 08:03:36
Whoever we sell, will be replaced. I would also be sad to see him leave, but an acceptance of a fee like that, means he will definitely be leaving, but I think it will be elsewhere, and not Brentford.
17 Jun 2024 01:23:59
This is really out there but I was playing Football Manager 2024 tonight and at the end of the first season. got a bonus of 1.5m from Bournemouth on account of their staying up (avoiding relegation clause) from the Tyler Adams deal.
Anyone know if this is genuinely in the deal or not. Sounds weird but FM has a way about it, the level of detail in the game can astound so worth wondering about.
1.) 18 Jun 2024 13:48:22
ive not heard anything about that - maybe just in the game?
06 Aug 2023 23:25:17
Leeds being linked with Pantelis Chatzidiakos from Alkmaar for a relatively low fee (around 2.5m) .
Also reports that we're still (yes still) talking to Liverpool about Phillips for a fee of 10m if all adds on are met. So a bit cheaper than the direct 10m that was being talked about earlier if i understand it.
1.) 07 Aug 2023 15:42:27
I can't even say it, let alone sing it!
2.) 07 Aug 2023 16:59:58
He'll need an extra large shirt regardless.
3.) 08 Aug 2023 16:42:22
Chat - zid - e, - akos.
4.) 08 Aug 2023 21:35:25
Close Chris, the C is a silent one.
5.) 08 Aug 2023 22:26:46
Just call him Pants.

This again might sound massively controversial, but I think the Kone leg break challenge wasn't a red card. It remind me a lot of the Struijk on Harvey Elliot challenge.
With Kone there were no studs, he wasn't super high. I think it's more one of those with really weird physics where moderate - not excessive - force at least in my view, caused the injury.
To be clear, it's not a 'lack of intent' issue.
That can't be a redeeming factor. But the pure facts about the challenge should be.
The outcome is undeniably tragic and Kone has my utmost sympathy. But just because Messi's didn't result in an injury doesn't mean that isn't a red card. I do think most challenges that end up with this kind of injury are legitimately red cards, but this one looks pretty rare. It would be a complete yellow for me.
1.) 19 Jun 2026 14:13:47
Yeah. Agree, bkb. There were a few strange decisions in that game. But home team and all.
2.) 19 Jun 2026 15:59:09
The law says, Serious Foul Play: A challenge using excessive force, endangering the safety of an opponent during active play.
When the contact came, the ball was gone, the contact was late and deliberate - he went through the standing leg from the back.
It started with a yellow and got upgraded to a red when the VAR looked at it.
So, yes, it was deserved. Pity that it broke Kone's leg, yes, it was a weird break. Still deserved a red.
3.) 19 Jun 2026 19:57:07
It was careless rather than reckless, but it was a foul and it was late, so a yellow card would've been the right decision. But the ref was influenced by the serious outcome, and went for red. The Struijk / Elliott case was different in that it wasn't a foul at all, and no card was merited.
18 Jun 2026 12:18:03
Another debate worthy one. I'm naturally delighted that Kane scored the pen. But everyone is waxing lyrical about him teasing the keeper off his line with the stuttered run up. I played as a keeper until I was about 20. Before I became too vertically challenged (I'm 5'7, I had other deficiencies too) .
I hate the stuttered run up so so so much. As a keeper you are now beholden too your line (fair enough) . Back in the day keepers used to move miles off to save pens regularly think Dudek in Istanbul, Reina in FA Cup final.
Oliver Kahn. And I don't blame them for that. It never got punished even it was the rule. I don't think keepers even took it as breaking a rule it was just instinctual.
Now though it's miniscule punished and keepers can't really get much momentum unless they stand physically behind the goal and dive forward.
I'd prefer a hybrid approach where if there is a stutter a keeper can move. Or ban the stutter entirely. I'm looking just for equality on this not an advantage for either side.
1.) 18 Jun 2026 13:53:10
Ban stutter. It's a bit cocky in my view. Keeper on the line, no movement until kick, except up and down. Simple.
2.) 18 Jun 2026 15:04:43
The penalty was ordered to be retaken because a Croatia defender was guilty of encroachment and became involved in the play via the rebound, not because the keeper was off his line. The slow-motion replay shows that the keeper had, in fact, a part of his foot on the line, which is considered enough.
3.) 18 Jun 2026 15:30:50
I would like the rules to be simple, and I would prefer a better contest between keeper and taker. I think the current rules put the keeper at a disproportionate disadvantage.
For shootouts, I like the way a penalty in hockey is played out. The ref blows the whistle, the striker gets 5 seconds to try and score; he can shoot and dribble as much as he likes, but the keeper can race off his line too.
I think this is fairer, because actually no penalty offence has taken place - it's just a way to settle a match.
Didn't Australia or the US FA have a system where the striker had 25 seconds to beat the keeper from the halfway line or something like that?
For a real "penalty" offence, absolutely no stopping or stutter should be allowed. It should be considered the same way as a double hit, in my opinion.
4.) 18 Jun 2026 16:09:48
Topman, it was double encroachment, the keeper was shown to be off his line and you are correct, a defender encroached and played the ball.
I believe VAR used the first offence, the keeper, as the reason, but even if he was on the line, it would still have been called.
5.) 18 Jun 2026 16:47:23
I like Harry Kane, but I think he's taking the piss by suggesting that he stuttered deliberately to make the keeper move off his line, just be honest, H, and admit that you screwed up and were rescued by the keeper's error. Usually, HK is a good old-fashioned penalty taker of the "just run up and hit it" school, but this time he made a mistake and got away with it. In the past, some keepers used to move ridiculous amounts off the line, but the Croatia keeper only moved a foot or so, and as the penalty spot is 33ft away, any advantage was marginal.
I'd ban stuttering, jumping and all these recent fancy dan tactics, and just make them run up and hit it like HK did 2nd time last night. I vividly remember Peter Lorimer taking the occasional pen, and when he hit it at near 100mph even the best keepers could get both hands to it, but still not keep it out.
6.) 18 Jun 2026 16:57:38
I agree, JR. I'll deliberately risk my penalty to prove this keeper leaves his line - the prize for presenting the evidence is that you have the jeopardy of another penalty.
Forget the stutter, and forget what the keeper did or didn't do. It was a terrible penalty nonetheless, and we were pretty fortunate in my opinion.
7.) 19 Jun 2026 14:24:09
A penalty is a punishment, fine, or disadvantage imposed for breaking a rule, law, or contractual obligation. It can apply to various contexts, ranging from legal consequences and financial fees to rule violations in sports.
Surely, based on the definition of a penalty, the idea is to give the attacking team the advantage and the defending team a disadvantage? If you didn't do this then defenders would be less concerned of giving penalties away as there was no longer an advantage to the attacker.
8.) 19 Jun 2026 16:04:14
Yes, for penalty offences, the attacker gets the advantage, but they get the same advantages during a shootout when no offence has taken place.
9.) 19 Jun 2026 19:00:59
Maybe, but then so do the opponents' attackers, meaning a shootout comes down to who scores the most, meaning neither team has the advantage.
18 Jun 2026 12:07:26
Bit off topic but views on the Messi challenge the other night. I tried to take a step back from it. But I can't still see any reason how that was not a red card myself. Henry's intent argument was ludicrous.
I would argue that 99% of challenges that end up with broken legs the players didn't ' intend' to break the guy's leg. Seems one that has divided though, so interested in the debate.
1.) 18 Jun 2026 15:41:09
In the modern game, especially with VAR re-refereeing, that would be a red card on any given day, intent or not.
Whilst, in general, I think VAR has been pretty good in this competition [against the backdrop, I wish it didn't exist], nevertheless, I am surprised at some of the leniency shown so far.
Not sure which game it was when the keeper came out and nearly took the striker's head off, but "got the ball first" - I seem to remember Liam Cooper being sent off against City, despite getting the ball first.
Numerous other examples like that; nonetheless, I think VAR and some of the new rules introduced have cut a lot of the crap out - I hope some, if not all, the new rules turn up in the EPL next season.
10 Jun 2026 16:48:54
Interesting that Burnley have been awarded £35m from Everton PSR breaches adversely affecting their Premier League status. Everton naturally appealing, but that's huge. I believe we reached a settlement with Everton, according to the same BBC article. However, because Burnley were relegated and we weren't, the financial losses for us are significantly lighter.
1.) 10 Jun 2026 17:15:12
Any guesstimate of figure Leeds United received.. £ 5 million? More?
2.) 10 Jun 2026 18:56:42
£1,500, 000 apparently from other sources.. Not a lot.
3.) 10 Jun 2026 19:41:01
That could open up citeh to a number of claims if/when they are charged for their 115 financial irregularities. Millions and millions in potential fines.
4.) 10 Jun 2026 20:39:10
Yeah, Baz, I think 1 - 1.5m is a fair estimate. Given we didn't go down, it's more relevant to look at the funding between league positions (approx 2m) as the right ball park. Given we settled, it's like 1m - 1
5m.
5.) 10 Jun 2026 21:28:31
Yep entirely logical snd correct reasoning, Ealing.
6.) 11 Jun 2026 11:55:48
Reports say we did an undisclosed agreement with Everton last September.
31 May 2026 22:04:12
I wonder if Leeds shouldn't try and appoint the recently departed Maximilian Hahn as director of football. I get we have Adam Underwood. But Hahn scouted Disasi, Diouf, Magassa, Fernandes and Taty Castellanos were mainly his signings. He left of his own accord and West Ham didn't want him gone.
1.) 31 May 2026 23:17:50
Well LUFC defo should be recruiting a masterly DoF (above Farke, not equal to Farke in authority like Underwood is) .
Also.
Firstly, surprised a tad that Director of Football Maxxy Hahn is only 30 years of age!
These DoF are gettin younger, it makes me feel a little old.
Secondly, what happened to the red hot insider info of a few weeks ago that Nicky Hammond was returning to Leeds United from Everton?
Thirdly, can we get a Raphinha type in this summer window please. We need some quality flair. Where's Uncle Victor when you need him!
2.) 01 Jun 2026 07:00:38
The Hammond thing was a rumour, I believe. I recently read a statement that 99.5% are false. Try reading a book called "The Baz Book of Likelihood", which someone rated as 10/10. ??
3.) 01 Jun 2026 09:28:43
Now, now, Bright. Don't stir the beast. 84.7% sure he won't like that post.
4.) 01 Jun 2026 10:59:53
Dasasi is on loan, and Fernandes cost over 40 mill from Southampton, so not sure you can call him scouted.
5.) 01 Jun 2026 12:11:35
Haha, I actually lurve Brighty's post, Aus. ..92.5% funny.
And, the "Baz Book of Likelihood" is a good read, Brighty; ideal Christmas present.
6.) 01 Jun 2026 13:30:42
That's cause the 10/10 Baz.
7.) 01 Jun 2026 14:04:53
I would see that as fiddling around, without any clear advantage, apart from Fernandez, who wasn't cheap as Corky pointed out. Those players took West Ham down to the Championship, which I wouldn't consider myself as great recruitment.
I'd buy the Baz Book of Likelyhood. Where can you buy them? Good chuckle material for the summer.
No offense, Baz. ?
8.) 01 Jun 2026 15:03:50
OP, in all good bookshops..
Best seller section (non fiction) . Naturally.
But tell yer what, OP, especially for you, I'll send you a signed copy for your birthday. ?
9.) 01 Jun 2026 17:35:23
Knew you'd see the funny side, Baz, which is how it was intended!
10.) 01 Jun 2026 21:49:44
Baz, is there a sequel book maybe of Baz's Predictions/ Past, Present and Future? I'm holding out for that one especially.
11.) 01 Jun 2026 22:11:28
OP, not just a book sequel.
But, a forthcoming West End musical entitled 'Baz the Oracle'.
You'll love it.
12 Jun 2026 14:03:10
Always hoped Harrison would go out to the US after his positive spell back in New York early in his career. Makes the most sense.
09 Jun 2026 20:16:44
If Darlow goes, wish we'd go for Fenerbahce Livakovic, Croatia no.1 (think his stock might rise at the WC like it did at the last one too) .
30 May 2026 13:53:51
Think this makes a lot more sense than Mings.
He's stayed healthy, would likely accept that he starts behind Gudmundsson, but at the same time be honestly trying to push him. Good enough to step in for Gabby when injured or suspended, or in cup games.
2 yr deal makes sense and as OG post says, won't break the bank.
It raises the floor in the position, even if I preferred we went out and tried for Hartmann or Diouf myself.
30 May 2026 13:51:07
Don't like the sound of it at all. He's only played 32 times across the last three seasons combined. He's not even a free agent unless they are willing to rip up his contract. Him going to newly promoted old club Ipswich would surely make more sense.
I get the link and clamour that he would be the experienced backup option. Not a fan though.
28 May 2026 14:24:55
I've said, and agree, that whilst we could stand to improve the goalkeeping situation, absolutely, it's not near the top of the urgency list. I'd be content to go with a Darlow/Perri as a lower/mid table pairing. Perri deservedly lost the No.1 jersey, but is good enough to keep Darlow honest if his form markedly drops beyond the odd error.
Crucially, the defense trust Darlow. You can see it with Rodon, Ampadu, Bijol, etc. They know he has it. Not like Meslier, and initially Perri, there were some doubts. Perri looks like an ideal cup keeper (based on level and penalty ability, if not wage) for now, and biding his time.
If the right deal for Trafford came along, I'd 100% jump at it. I can't see it. I can see Newcastle looking to upgrade on Pope/Ramsdale with Trafford, as they so nearly did last summer.
30m makes sense for them. Not for us. We could then have the pick of Ramsdale or Pope if we really wanted them. I wouldn't take Pope.
Ramsdale could be a maybe, if Southampton need to sell a further year removed from optimal parachute payments. I think Newcastle's option was £25m (what Southampton had paid Arsenal) . They can't afford his wages. If this all played out, I might entertain £15m (maybe to £17.5m with escalators) or another opportunistic loan. A year of largely benchwarming means they can't expect his value to have held. They'll want more, in which case I'd be out.
If we did that, we'd have to fail to retain Darlow or sell Perri (the preferred option) .
20 Jun 2026 10:59:44
Thought they fought hard. Being polite, I thought McGinn and McTominay were looking for pens. I wish they'd been a bit braver earlier in the game.
19 Jun 2026 23:05:09
My mother is from a small city a little east of Seattle, so I've been through a lot en route. It's a lovely city and stadium.
11 Jun 2026 19:52:23
Reminds me a little of Al Fayed's Fulham and what went on there. I've no idea the specificity of what's going on with Sullivan, but the parallels are obvious, sadly.
10 Jun 2026 20:39:10
Yeah, Baz, I think 1 - 1.5m is a fair estimate. Given we didn't go down, it's more relevant to look at the funding between league positions (approx 2m) as the right ball park. Given we settled, it's like 1m - 1

07 Jun 2026 19:11:57
Baz, think Dave was referring to links with Roony Bardhji, the Barcelona winger.
