McGurk transfer done. Also James Debayo, England U-15 international defender from Watford joins our academy. Rumours that Kiko will be joining a La Liga club on season long loan next week. That'll make room for Emi as Meslier understudy 😆.

1.) 09 Jul 2021 10:03:38
One can always dream George 😂😂.

2.) 09 Jul 2021 16:51:10
Yes Whack, it’s probably what Emi dreams about every night - the chance of working with Bielsa at Leeds.

3.) 09 Jul 2021 21:37:18
If they love him so much why do u not have a bunch of Argentinian’s in your squad? I don’t buy into the thinking that MB could make him a better keeper, Mellier is naturally talented, kiko is not and that’s why he got the chop. however there is no doubting that MB could make outfield players better and his system/ style is very good.

4.) 10 Jul 2021 09:01:37
Whack - the reason there aren’t lots of Argentinians in our squad is because we haven’t gone in for them. We only go for those players who fill a current squad requirement, with the attributes Bielsa requires wants and are felt to be good value in the current market. A few examples might help your understanding here. We could have gone for Buendia, but didn't as we don’t need anyone in that position, and he was overpriced, particularly for a player who would only have been a backup. We could have gone for Martinez but he was seeking a move from the Gunners to become first choice keeper, and we were backing Meslier for that position. We may or may not have enquired about Rodrigo De Paul, he was rumoured to want the move, but the asking price would have been too high.

5.) 10 Jul 2021 13:09:10
I see where your coming from mate I do and it’s a good business plan, I guess the point I’m making is that if the most important thing for these players would be getting the chance to play under someone like MB so in theory they would accept smaller wages making the deals more sustainable and suiting your structure, but in reality all these players care about is money at the end of the day (with a small number of exceptions) hence why 99% of players will choose the club offering the most money and the only time the manager will affect the players decision between 2 clubs is if both packages are pretty similar. It’s my thinking that they work off a list in their head kind of thing…
1. Money
2. Chance of winning trophies
3. Regular starts
4. League/ location
5. Possibly the manager/ playing style
I think maybe 2 and 3 could swap places in some instances as some players happy to play bit part roles, I’m interested to see your thinking on that list, or add in a couple more things to the equation but I don’t think money will not be on anyone’s number 1, I’m not talking about the likes of Philips for example staying loyal to the club he grew up at, the scenario is 2 clubs attempting to buy a certain player, what do u guys think?

6.) 10 Jul 2021 23:25:15
I agree with 1 and 2 but if there is a decent manager like Pep, Klopp or Bielsa I think manager would be third. If its a run of the mill manager then yes I agree very low priority.

Junior Firpo reportedly now in Leeds ahead of his forthcoming medical but quarantining. Bielsa has probably ordered him to watch every game of last 3 seasons as preparation. May as well use time profitably.

1.) 04 Jul 2021 20:42:18
That or spend the next 6 days in the gym.

2.) 04 Jul 2021 23:27:14
Alf He's quarantining. It would have to be an inbuilt gym in his hotel room.

3.) 05 Jul 2021 00:28:04
What is the quarantine situation for him?
Is he coming from Spain or the DR?

4.) 05 Jul 2021 06:34:45
I'm sure the club could get him a place with a gym if they wanted to George.

5.) 05 Jul 2021 09:36:08
The quarantine situation is a joke, it’s 10 days but if you pay for a pcr test on day 5 and it’s clear your free to leave the quarantine! Basically if you pay matt Hancock’s mates company your free to go corruption at its finest.

6.) 05 Jul 2021 14:26:47
I'm at day 3 of my quarantine.

Sean McGurk, midfielder and free agent formerly of Wigan Athletic, close to joining us allegedly. Fee likely to be settled by tribunal. Under 24 compensation owed to development club. Will link up with old pal Gelhardt.

1.) 03 Jul 2021 23:24:31
How much did we offer to buy him for last year?

2.) 04 Jul 2021 11:50:24
Probably about £25.

3.) 04 Jul 2021 14:39:47
🇨🇦 Half a mill as I recall.

4.) 04 Jul 2021 15:08:37
I thought it was around there. Our patience could save a few hundred thousand then.

10 May 2021 16:13:11
Liverpool reportedly interested in signing Paddy Van Bamigoal.

05 May 2021 05:36:41
LUFC reportedly interested in signing Dutch U-21 winger Noa Lang from Ajax currently on loan at Club Brugge. Could be a tough signing for Orta to seal as there's bound to be a flood 🤣💦 of interest in him.

1.) 05 May 2021 12:52:15
Not again.

2.) 05 May 2021 13:10:21
14 goals and 8 assists in 24, can play ST, LW and RW, still only 21. Ticks a lot of boxes. £20m valuation that puts me off a bit because the Belgian league isn't a top league so he could flatter to deceive.

Baz You must be quaking at the prospect of your public nudity in the summer of 2022. Erling was recently spotted wearing LUFC 💛💙 training gear. Furthermore, given our spending restraint in the window thus far, I'd say our strategy is to conserve resources until we can bid realistically for him next year.

1.) 30 Jul 2021 00:33:07
We would have to be champ league qualifiers for us to get him and unless 2-3 more quality additions now. That’s a bridge too far I think.

2.) 30 Jul 2021 00:35:40
So Erling has a soft spot for Leeds United after all :

- Erling being born in Super City of Leeds,

- his dad Alfie doing Super Leeds United proud as a player,

- Erling wanting to play with the best midfielder in the world KP ( close your eyes on that one Bermondsey )

That said the chances of it happening next summer are fat and zero

BUT if you want a sure thing bet Georgie put your mortgage and the wife's jewellery on Whiteman having secured his season ticket for his beloved Aston Villa this season ( guaranteed sure thing )

3.) 30 Jul 2021 06:08:30
Aus is right. A prerequisite to landing Erling shall be CL qualification. Gives us something to aim for. It's only an improvement of 5 league positions. Don't know what I'd relish more. Erling's unveiling as a Leeds player or Baz's unveiling in Leeds.

28 Jul 2021 00:37:53
Tasty Greenwood freekick at Nethermoor.

1.) 28 Jul 2021 10:15:00
A belter!

2.) 28 Jul 2021 13:22:17
He’s done a few of them now. Great technique.

24 Jul 2021 22:13:19
So that's why Tyler the Creator under par for most of last season. Concentrating on the wrong thing. Then again I'm no-one to talk. At least he bangs in the goals 🥅 somewhere. Maybe she'd prefer Robin?

1.) 24 Jul 2021 23:44:29
I hope he scores more at home than he does at ER.

12 Jul 2021 12:53:46
Mick Bates RIP 💛💙.

1.) 12 Jul 2021 13:43:12
Very sad news about Mick Bates the always smiling, always very happy perennial sub in the great Revie Leeds team

May his soul rest in peace.

2.) 12 Jul 2021 14:42:16
Was skilful player and a great battler. Remember the Wolves game at end of 71/ 72 season when the FA gave the title to Derby, he gave his all that night. Always wondered why he didn’t move on. He would have played twice as many games for any other team back then.

3.) 12 Jul 2021 15:53:45
Mick Bates RIP. A great servant to the Club. He was happy to be a squad player for the great Revie side, but when needed he never let the side down. He would have walked into many other teams, but stayed loyal to Don and the Club.

12 Jul 2021 03:25:37
We already lost the final when Southgate described Sterling penalty in the semi "soft". Wrong thing to say, sent out wrong message completely all round. Wrong remark, wrong tactics, wrong team. Lacks leadership. Vile villain.

1.) 12 Jul 2021 04:17:54
Wrong George. Just stupid wrong.

2.) 12 Jul 2021 08:25:55
Total nonsense George! I assume judgement made amid deep disappointment!

3.) 12 Jul 2021 09:09:45
George - you’re right that Southgate shouldn’t have said the penalty was soft, but that didn’t loose the final for us, though the players” evident respect for Southgate may have been a little diminished by that comment.

Southgate actually got a lot right throughout most of the tournament. Several of his decisions were widely doubted - including the decision to pick, and play KP - but most pundits were agreed that he had been proved right in almost all cases. However his tactics for the final do seem to have been questionable, specifically going with 3 at the back. It seemed to work spectacularly well at the beginning, enabling one wing back to pick out the other for the goal, and it took a while after that for Mancini and Italy to figure out how to adjust, but once they had, we had virtually no out ball and we were penned back until Southgate finally reverted to 4 at the back.

Going with 3 at the back also cocked up things for penalties later. It would have been much better to have insisted someone other than Saka take a penalty and put him on as a winger from the start. Sancho or Rashford could then have been put on far earlier as a straight swap with him and given a chance to get their head into the game, and maybe affect the outcome before getting to a penalty shootout.

4.) 12 Jul 2021 10:13:31
DSW No, it was conceived during moments of elation in the penalty shootout. How's Australia?

5.) 12 Jul 2021 10:15:38
Clueless Good post. I just feel Southgate is a poor leader and naive in big moments.
