Think it’s best they lost. We only need to keep 3 below. That’s the goal.

I understand what you guys were saying but I’m fairly confident we will finish above Burnley and wanted to keep Fulham within a couple points.
It’s now a must not lose game 😉.

Can anyone answer why Sunderland are doing so well?
Ok they spent 150 mill but also lost their best player in Bellingham.
Thry were way behind us last season.

One word Cork, recruitment.
Yes they had more to spend and they got their targets over the line by paying more money which they had.
Granit Xhaka is also a major signing for them, heaps of experience in the Premiership, think he mainly runs the show as far as motivation is concerned.
Regis Le Bris is a very competent coach also.

Afcon definitely going to knock them back, 6-7 players gone of which Sidiki is a big player for them

Also note of worth their keeper seems to be very good and has shown that regularly all season

Well done Mackems, good. to see.

Rumour out today that Chelski and ####chester United are "accelerating efforts" to sign him. Maybe it's a good thing we missed out on signing him in the summer window. I always thought that Afcon might be critical for them, let's see.

Regarding the obscene ticket prices for the WC, it would serve the sickly Infantino right if he is left with thousands upon thousands of unsold tickets. The way the obnoxious FIFA treat the fans of the game is shameless.

My ticket for tomorrow's game is a mere £25.00. As usual, I would be more than happy with a point, a win would be brilliant. I hope we are really up for it and give it a good go against a decent Brentford side.

13 Dec 2025 11:25:40
Absolutely spot on re WC! It's an utter disgrace the way the game is being wretched away from the working classes who helped make the sport what it is today! It's is sadly typical of the world we live in. Look at the Indian events surrounding Messi's "tour"! Fans paying weeks, even months wages to see a guy they idolise, only to be unable to see him as he's surrounded by politicians and the rich and famous! It all stinks tbh.

Seems they have gone back on their original price promise. Money money money. Prob to cover trumps visit and award. Let’s hope they have many empty stadiums. Rumours here are that aussies are scrambling for tickets. Didn’t know aussies had a football team 🤔😂😂.

To play like we did at Elland rd against Liverpool in those last 20 mins in a whole game away to Brentford is very unlikely.
Most of our away performances have been less than mediocre and when we have played well it’s only in spits and spurts or only in one half.

I don’t think this a question of motivation and desire because I see it on the pitch, a lot will say it’s because of the formation which I also believe is not the case.
Our sole handicap is that we simply do not possess enough quality in our squad.
We rely mainly on adrenaline which is created with our fans at Elland road.

The players will be buoyed by the recent results and will give a performance but I doubt it will be for 90mins. As I’ve posted before a draw will be a very kind result against a Brentford who have a good record at home with Kieth Andrews.

I think we’ll start with a 4-3-3 and if so Farke may change that if we go behind in the second half. Preserving our strikers is imperative.

Absolutely no reason why it cannot be a similar level of application from here on, it’s the same team same coach, fully accepting of the lift our home supporters give to the players, however….

Forest and Brighton game (I attended) was absolutely woeful I recall Amos petulantly hacking down a Brighton player and getting a silly yellow card and that’s honestly the only agression shown by the whole team, a good section of the Leeds supporters left before the end it was that bad.

For myself the 3 at the back moves our best creators (Gabby and Bogle) forward and we have seen the second striker sharing the load up top certainly helped DCL finish stronger.

I think Brentford have a strong midfield and Jordan Henderson has been a shred buy for them, I’d be very happy with a point, but want DF 2.0 to maintain our current formation and proactive decision making substitutions.

Aus, when are we not linked and ready to buy all and sundry. If there is a player coming in January it’s likely to be non of the already mentioned.

I couldn’t agree more Ed, I just can’t see us paying ramped up prices in January with the cloud of PSR above us.

Look no further than Chelsea. They have numerous players who don’t even make their bench who could help us greatly. That’s if they are up for a challenge which is another matter.

It should have been a straight forward victory for Liverpool but Konate’s suicidal naive tackle which led to the penalty and subsequent goal did rouse the Elland fans and give us a way back into the game.
Elland road is our last bastion of hope for this season and the fans don’t need an invite to turn up the volume when there’s a sniff of blood.
Farke’s substitutions then injected that extra energy as you’ve mentioned to force the momentum our way.
I knew once Liverpool made it 2-3 it was very possible that we would get that equalizer even if it was in the final minutes.

You are right though, where was that fervor and determination in those first 70 minutes?
I fear now that a lot of Leeds fans will feel because of these two positive results against Chelsea and Liverpool, that we are now are a lot better than they thought we were.
The reality is we have a light weight squad with questionable quality within it.

I feel our home games with our fans is our only real hope of staying up this season.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, that generally is the case for promoted sides - it does need the home fans backing to give them hope. I do think you have a point about your squad, there is a lack of top class players, which is why you need to play with desire and energy to make up for it, a la Sunderland. At home, you usually do that, it is just away it seems to vanish.}

Liverpool were gifted a goal and allowed to play on after a dive that led to a second. Even as previous champions, you were poor at elland road and were lucky to get a draw.

I actually thought Pool were good against us until they imploded near the end. I was amazed at their poor results and league position and then the last 20 minutes showed me why they are struggling.

Brentford I’d take a point all day but the greediness in me wants three.

12 Dec 2025 01:01:52
Brentford will be a tough one and I’d be happy with yet another blood and guts performance and a point. Although given their position it is winnable.
It will be interesting which formation Farke chooses and did gnonto do enough to earn a start?
On the subject of dcl v Bamford I’d say Bamford is far better all round team player.

BUT while dcl is scoring I will leave him be.

Agree1 0Disagree

12 Dec 2025 07:49:37
I have to agree Aus about Bamford and DCL. What i liked about Bamford was his ball control, he held it up well and brought others into play, even scoring a worldy or two. DCL on the other hand is less skillful with the ball, but he does leap like a spring Salmon trying to get back its spawning ground.

12 Dec 2025 08:07:50
Brentford are a very good team at home and fully agree Aus, there’s no disgrace in a point at their place, as important, is maintaining the energy levels and fierceness in the tackle that we have seen the last two games.

Clearly DCL and Namecheck are susceptible to injuries so the change of formation helped DCL in particular.

Especially when Namecheck is pressing with him (doing lions share of the work) it also brings Gaby and Bogle forward as creators when both are better than all of our current wing options at creating chances. Need another battering ram in January to supplement CF position.

Just amazed it took six losses in a row before the change in formation was made.

Play like second half of Liverpool for 90plus minutes and a positive result is very much possible.

The only part I can think of where Bamford was better than Calvet-Lewin was with his tracking back and defensive duties.
DCL in my opinion is a nightmare for opposition defenders, finds the spaces to be on goal point but rarely gets the delivery. Equally as good as Bamford in holding up the ball and laying off.

If you rewind back about 2 seasons ago when Bamford played nearly played half a season, there were not many posters on here who were commenting on what a great prolific striker he was, which is the impression I’m now getting.
Slag off what we’ve got now and praise what we had before seems the way to go. ?

Agree3 0Disagree

12 Dec 2025 23:20:48
Bamfords only downside was his wastefulness in front of goal.
Winning one on one, passing accuracy, pressing, tracking back and all round awareness is far superior to dcl. If dcl Dosent score he is a complete waste of time.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Dec 2025 01:13:10
I don't think it's reasonable to compare Bamford playing against Championship defences with DCL playing against Premier League defences. If Bamford were still playing for us this season he'd struggle to make the same impact as last season.

When you beat a £1bn club 3-1 as a newly promoted team full of players found in transfer window's bin, 3-1 is a smashing.

Liverpool shouldn't have got the first goal, nor conceded the last. 2-2. Those freak events threw my prediction off 😜.

See we are top of the injuries list for the whole league
Does anyone think we need a full review of why we are getting so many injuries all the time, every season it appears
I wonder if Thorpe Arch is a problem, where it's situated and is a contributing to the injuries
We also bought a second hand pitch from Spuds a few years back, why did they want shot, is that a contributing factor as well?

Agree2 0Disagree

12 Dec 2025 01:20:40
The 2nd hand pitch from Spuds was only there temporarily, it was installed Jan 21 and then ripped up and a brand new one installed at the end of season 20/ 21 ready for the start of season 21/ 22.

Agree1 0Disagree

12 Dec 2025 07:00:22
Probably because we have a smaller squad plus some of the players have a long history of injuries and you can add Dan James to that list as well, don’t think we’ll see much of him this season. Although probably fit to play Wales qualifiers then back out injured again.

Agree1 0Disagree

12 Dec 2025 08:16:34
Part of the 49ers strategy is to bring in players with dicey injury history as you save money. If they overfill certain positions the theory is we will always have someone available and if we can sort the injury issues we get a high value player for a lower fee.

It's a calculated risk and they do the same in the NFL where it has worked in their favour for the most part.

12 Dec 2025 08:43:02

Correct Alf and in fairness to the 49er’s strategy on that was there was probably little to no other alternatives other than doing a pistol packin’ Pete and mortgage the club out to fall foul of PSR.
