Manchester United announce a profit, but debt is up to £1.3 billion. You couldn't make this stuff up. Big Clubs seem to be able to dodge FFP rules, whilst smaller Clubs get point deductions. You can bet the FA will bury their heads in the sand with a nothing to see here attitude.

25 Feb 2026 12:27:39
Happy hump day siblings, looking forward to Saturday, should be a very interesting game! Looking forward, slightly optimistic lol, but it's going to be fascinating to see what we do in the summer. Undoubtedly there are some that are going to have to go, JH and Mes and can't really see Rama or MJ getting back in. The big shift of course is away from wingers so do we offload Willy and DJ? Piroe just can't see staying and sadly also AO, Gruev seems to be the better fit to the system with his defensive and offensive box to box talents, great off the ball whereas AO not so good defensively.
Priority has to be Striker and Keeper of course, but that is just my view!
25 Feb 2026 16:34:03
That's quite a fire sale you're anticipating, Vid. I can't disagree with most of them. I do think AO has potential, but we've not managed to find it consistently enough yet. We could do with a forward who can play wide right occasionally, but I don't think DJ is that player; maybe Harry Wilson or similar. MJ is still only young, and wouldn't command much of a price, so I might hold on to him a bit longer and sort out another loan deal unless a Spanish club makes a good offer.
We definitely need more firepower (+2) up front, almost certainly a new keeper, and a good LWB to stand in for Gabby. I think Bornauw is getting itchy feet and looking for a way out now that JJ has become 1st choice stand-in CB, so that may be another hole to fill. Hope the recruitment team have got their feelers out already.
24 Feb 2026 14:20:40
I see the Daily Fail are at it again with their 49ers considering sacking DF mantra. What is it with that rag? Fleet streets finest they are certainly not, honestly.
24 Feb 2026 16:24:41
Think the 49ers are waiting for us to stay up before spending big, and that means players and a manager to keep us up and competing for Europe.
24 Feb 2026 17:27:19
Keep Farke for another season, because I think there will be serious squad churn this year. We have lots of stragglers to sell, contracts ending, and our starting 11 will be eaten by the big clubs. We could probably raise £200 million from player sales.
You guys know I'm a Farke-out guy, and I've said before he knows how to build a squad. Maybe, with depth on the bench, he would be more tactical in games. Either way, DF is safe and our second season looks promising.
24 Feb 2026 19:55:57
The Dail Fail should be in the comic section.
25 Feb 2026 15:35:12
Vidlufc, this was reported via Leeds United news site Oldbri, see it as well. Not sure why you are surprised; they are looking for a young, charismatic manager. Not sure who they have in mind, so I can't blame the daily trial.
25 Feb 2026 16:21:09
I think Daniel Farke has shown "enough" this season that, should the club decide to "move on" [I hope they don't], he would get another gig with another EPL team. He has thus far outperformed a few of the "merry-go-round" brigade. Odds are he will definitely get through the season. No one would have predicted that at the start. I hope Leeds consider wisely in the summer and don't soon have regrets. I am not sure, without spending bucket loads of money, there is anyone who would guarantee anything better.
I read yesterday that if matches lasted 85 minutes we would be seventh this season. That indicates to me that squad depth [better bench and subs] would help with that problem. I'm sure it's not as black and white as that, but you can see the potential. No one galvanises a squad like Daniel Farke, and extracts the max out of his talent.
25 Feb 2026 22:08:39
Daily Mail are the 9ers' mouthpiece of choice, so shouldn't be completely disregarded. As communicated to shareholders in Sept last year: This season the aim is to finish 17th. Next season we will spend £126m before player sales, with the aim of staying up again, finishing 15th. The season after, the spend is projected to be £89m, with another 15th place finish anticipated. By then, we are probably expecting to generate increased revenue from player sales, so the actual spend will be higher than the gross figures above if that works out. But, of course, we will need to replace players sold as well with that revenue. The stadium expansion is also expected to net additional revenue (£25m per year) to spend on transfers / wages.
23 Feb 2026 20:54:01
Anyone else noticed Harrison is starting and playing lots for Fiorentina and they've started to climb the table a little.
I hope he does well enough for them to want to buy him.
23 Feb 2026 21:16:26
All the best to him, Joffy, Bamford, Phillips, and the whole cavalcade of ex-Leeds lads.
24 Feb 2026 11:30:05
Delighted for him, but that's because, personally, for any player who behaved as Harrison has, in declaring his love of Everton and discarding Leeds United, I never, ever want them back. Harsh, irrational, almost certainly, but I'm very blinkered where Leeds United are concerned, and I make no apologies for it.
24 Feb 2026 12:54:38
Just as a matter of interest, Class. Do you feel the same way about Cantona, Milna, Ferdinand, Smith, Raphina, White, Gray, Rutter, Summerville? All put great shifts in while they were with us, but most went on to achieve more without us.
Bit old school, expecting loyalty. If that was the case in the modern game, transfer fees would be way less. Cause Raphina would pretty much only be worth what we paid for him rather than 5 times more.
24 Feb 2026 13:11:43
To answer your question, Aus, do I feel the same? No. All of your examples, however much it pains me to say it (as we're talking Devon here) , went on to bigger things than we could provide at the time. So, good luck to them. Smith and Ferdinand still hurts, but that is because of who it was.
We were blessed to have Raphinia (one of the best players in world football) as long as we did. But Harrison (his mum too) , even BA, still smarts. I would also draw you towards my original post: harsh, irrational, absoblooming loutely. It is just a personal vengeance thing that eases my pettiness a little.
24 Feb 2026 14:06:06
It all depends on the circumstances of the move, and sometimes the club they go to. Some, like Raphina, did it the right way, giving 100% right up to the end of his contract and moving on with (most of) our best wishes.
Others were not so, like Jack Harrison and Harry Kewell, for instance. I'm a big believer in "never go back", but some of those listed I might consider re-signing if the time were right.
24 Feb 2026 14:22:14
You can't lump BA and Harrison into the same bracket, surely? BA made a mistake, then spent a season and a half running more than Forrest Gump on whizz. Not to mention the points he has won us with his goals and assists.
24 Feb 2026 15:07:16
Agree, Mo. BA made a mistake, but despite getting a hard time at the beginning of his "comeback" he's never stopped giving his all, and has improved significantly as a player. We all make mistakes, but BA rectified his, while JH didn't and probably wasn't too bothered.
24 Feb 2026 15:36:25
Don't get me wrong, Mo. I cheer anyone who wears the shirt, and I actually hated the booing of JH in the friendly at the Aviva Stadium, and I cheered him! But, whilst I was not in favour of booing a player wearing the shirt, I did not shed a tear when JH left, and I agree BA has run himself into the ground to reintegrate himself, and credit to him, but I would be non plusses if/when he leaves. As I said, it's irrational.
25 Feb 2026 18:43:37
Harrison who? BA is a far better player. I did like him, but kissing the badge of Everton was just too much. 🤮

22 Feb 2026 20:06:51
I must say I'm liking the look of this new Spurs manager - he's worse than the old one:)
Come on Spurs, feel the pain we had to endure back in 2004 (and for all those years in-between! )
It would be seismic if they were to go.
Fabulous stadium which cost a fortune, so-called superstars on outrageous wages (who will all jump ship) and all the talk of Pochetino returning will go up in a puff of smoke. He may want to return to Tottenham but not in the Championship!
Top six club - pull the other one!
23 Feb 2026 11:01:34
Their run-in doesn't look too bad, but will some of these ego-busting superstars be up for the scrap? We shall see.
23 Feb 2026 11:41:35
My Suds-supporting brother reckons they're down. It may be a coincidence, but they've tumbled badly since the billionaire kids ousted Levy. That old adage of careful what you wish for may yet come back to haunt them.
23 Feb 2026 12:29:02
Can't see them down, tbh. Teams below have got a harder run in. Hopefully Forest or Spam. Spuds can't buy a win atm, but there's no shame in losing 1-4 to Gooners, right.
23 Feb 2026 13:30:54
I agree, Aus, in all honesty, I can't see them going, but as you say, they can't seem to buy a win at the moment.
24 Feb 2026 08:05:58
At least they got one back, Aus!
25 Feb 2026 16:27:35
2, in my opinion, Aft! Three times Gabriel has tried that stunt this season; his dive was as fake as his smile! It's bonkers that at every corner it's like a rugby scrum, and 99% of it goes unpunished, and then they disallow a goal for a wayward feather pushing him over. Gibbs White did exactly the same a few weeks ago; the goal stood.

Great pic that one! Boges said he didn't know where the ball had gone for about 10 seconds after Stach hit it. 🤣🤣
22 Feb 2026 21:43:36
Leeds United Official on YouTube have highlights of the match, commentated by Bryn Law and Tony Dorigo. Their expressions and laughter as the goal goes in are great. This goal is on par with Bamford's volley.
24 Feb 2026 08:06:52
Watch all the different reactions at the goal on the replay. Gudmundsson just stands there shell-shocked!
24 Feb 2026 17:31:09
Tbf, Alf, Gabby was shell shocked from kick off at the weekend! Not his best game, to say the least. It was very positive from DF to hook him after HT, though I'm sure the lad will bounce back better than ever.
22 Feb 2026 13:42:09
Ok - how many points needed to survive - a little bit north of 40 me thinks.
3 rd bottom has more points on board than previous few seasons after 27 games. Sham, Forists and us are suddenly hard to beat - all have only 1 loss in last 6. Then we have spuds and sparrows in free fall.
2 already done for I think but who will be third - one of the London trio I hope - way too many from there in this league!
Thoughts on a post card please.
22 Feb 2026 14:28:48
Two more wins, with, say, five draws, gets us to 42 points, which should be enough. I'm expecting at least four wins from last 11 games, though, so hopefully we will be nearer 50 than 40 points.
22 Feb 2026 15:14:02
Oh blimey, Corkster, expectation is the mother of disappointment, but I think you are right. 😆😅🤣 Be a good start to make it 6/6 under the lights at ER. 😁
22 Feb 2026 16:24:17
There are too many on here, Vid, with small expectations, and accept a draw when we should have won, and even accept defeats because our opponent "is an established EPL team," and God forbid if they are a top six side. The next game is the next game, and I always believe we can win.
22 Feb 2026 17:03:24
Corkster, we are going to be absolutely fine. The only question is how high we can finish. Look at that side, game in, game out, so competitive now. What a midfield, and look at the options we have. The defence is solid, despite not having a top-notch keeper. Look at our signings, like Stach, Gabby, Bijol, DCL, Nmecha, Okafor, Longastaff, James, all performing and bargain buys or free.
The Bielsa side of 20/21 went on a run in the last 10 games to finish 9th with 59 points. Could we replicate that? There are lots of teams within 2 or 3 wins. Leeds are now, in my opinion, regarded as a tough test, not a "newly promoted lamb to the slaughter." As long as we don't draw Arsenal, we could be FA Cup finalists too. 😆😅🤣
22 Feb 2026 18:55:31
Think again, Cork, if you think most are happy with a draw or, God forbid, a loss? Not expressing great dissatisfaction on this forum doesn't mean fans aren't, deep down, desperately gutted when we don't win.
22 Feb 2026 18:34:03
To your point Vid, we are only 4 points off where Bielsa's team was who finished 9th. That team had a great last 10 matches.
This team has lost 4 less at this point, than that team. That team was black or white, win or lose, seldom drew a game.
11 wins, 2 draws, 14 defeats
7 wins, 10 draws, 10 defeats
22 Feb 2026 19:44:19
I'd like to finish above Sunderland, who are currently 12th, just to emphasise we're the best of the promoted teams. If we finish 10/11th, I'd be happy with that after the poor early season. And one of the London teams to go down, preferably Spurs.
22 Feb 2026 19:52:23
I see your point, OP. But when the phrase "I would have taken a point before the game" comes out, it annoys me. I get what people mean, but this is after the match when points have been dropped, once more, and the same ole lines are rolled out.
One away win all season is disgraceful, imo, and we should be way further up the table, once again in my opinion.
23 Feb 2026 07:23:08
I understand your frustration, Corkster, but I think it's a measure of how far we have come that we can be disappointed at getting a point away to a team 3rd in the league. This is the difference in quality from the Champo, where we would probably have got away with it.
You can't switch off for a second at this level. Win on Saturday, and with games running out, there will be much fibrillation of sphincters below us.
23 Feb 2026 11:06:40
If no Spurts, I wouldn't mind seeing Lady Brady's team go down.
23 Feb 2026 13:55:21
I'd like Burnley to crawl past West Ham and Forest if I could choose. Forest, because I live in Derby and it makes for two good fixtures next season that are local to me. West Ham, because they "forced" Moyes away after their cup win, e.g., as above, careful for what you wish! I'd swap both to see Spurs go, though!
23 Feb 2026 13:58:13
Everyone hoped for a win, but the draw was a good point before or after the match. It's not like we were hanging on, Daniel Farke went for the win and we very nearly did; their goal was very lucky.
23 Feb 2026 14:15:12
Spurs, West Ham, and Forest. If only the world was perfect!
24 Feb 2026 01:47:31
3rd team to go down has to be a London outfit, therefore Spuds or Sham, not too fussed which.
24 Feb 2026 14:11:03
Ideally, the 3 to go down should be Chelsea, Everton and Man Utd, but I can dream, can't I.
{Ed025's Note - so you dont like Everton JR?, you do know they are the "peoples club" dont you mate.. :)
22 Feb 2026 00:08:56
Happy with a point but tad disappointed we didn't get all three. As was said if we had gone two up the game was ours. Shame we conceded another late goal.
Villas finishing was woeful and the ref was def one sided.
But the whole team played well and dug in. Our defending has improved greatly this season. Wasn't too far back I dreaded the opposition having the ball in our half. Now corners don't concern me that much.
22 Feb 2026 08:12:10
The ref was an absolute whopper, wasn't he, Aus? Yet again! It happens so often these days that I've even stopped getting wound up by them!
22 Feb 2026 10:03:18
At one point, he gave a free kick against DCL for hardly touching the player, because he knew DCL would have been through on goal. Terrible ref.
22 Feb 2026 10:12:04
Notice VAR didn't get involved much with any of the premiership games yesterday. Wonder if it's due to reports earlier in the week about referees relying too much on VAR to make a decision themselves?
