I flatly refuse to watch this world club crap, but bloody hell look at some of the teams playing, I'm surprised Forest Green Rovers haven't been invited to play.

Spot on Bri it’s an obscene abuse of the wonderful game and only made possible though political whitewashing and the promise of a World Cup with all associated tv rights to get ten times their money back.

“I have serious doubts over the future of professional football because it is constantly commercialised and the product is worse, ”

“It’s based on selling more games, but it ignores whether teams are in better conditions to offer better results.

It brings me great sadness to see how football is deteriorating. ”

Marcelo Bielsa during 21/ 22 season.

It is widely reported that we are seeking prem league experience to help bolster our survival hopes. Not sure the serious links support that theory. Alf and lad on the pulse so far also looking to foreign leagues. Where as I get buying a player on a free and maybe selling at a profit is sensible. We still have to splash the cash on big time striker and attacking mid. No linked able addition thus far tickling my fancy.

I think the strikers are being kept under wraps and will be the last purchase we make.
I'm going to talk wet for a second, but bear with me.

A striker, a big goal scorer, they're like the frontman of the band, they're what get people excited, they're the headline grabbers. Don't get me wrong, those who know and love the sport appreciate a good defence, a good midfield and a good goalie, but the press, the fans, the feeling of the club's future, that's the strikers.

So I think the last few we get will be a few hidden gem strikers, maybe early 20s, and the news will set the headlines on fire.

Hopefully.

For me our new keeper will be far and away, our most important signing, strong foundations and you’ve something to build from.

Goal-scorers irrespective of price are the hardest to secure due to the unpredictability of strikers, form, confidence, mood swings, injuries, colour of their hair, boots etc…etc….

Chris Wood great example, nobody expects him to keep doing it (20 goals last season) but he does, but Nuno has structured his system to play to Woods strengths.

Piroe moves as quickly as an oil tanker, but would still beat Wood in a foot race.

And I believe Piroe conversion rate is better than Woods per mins played, but it’s getting the system right and getting the ball to Piroe at the right time and in the right place…but then the boy is a natural goalscorer.

And yes, like most, he has limitations, what player doesn’t but only Salah, Haaland and Isak scored more than 20 goals last season.

We need two/ three players, forwards, midfielders, full back doesn’t particularly matter, but three of them at least getting 11/ 12 goals and that’s perfectly affordable on our budget, but finding them, signing them, well that’s the really tricky bit.

Think these early sigings are brilliant, good experience and value for money and make the squad stronger.

What I also like is they show a physical edge that maybe shows a different style or variation in play.

Saint and Burnley went down because they played the same football that brought them up.

Our sigings show maybe a variation which would be needed.

We are being particularly aggressive so far this window which probably reflects how much business we want to do and a new approach for Leeds.

Wood had an uncanny season, well outperforming his xG - just a season where he could do no wrong. Always liked him so pleased for the fellah but unlikely to keep it up!

A new Howard Wilkinson Legacy Project named WILKO92 has been set up to try and raise funds for a statue near Elland Road to honour the legacy of the last Englishman to win the top flight title.

The campaign, set up by a group of #lufc fans, is aiming to raise £140,000 to create a life-size statue of Howard Wilkinson that would proudly stand somewhere near the stadium.

I think Chris and it’s only my opinion that Baz called for all sorts and banged the same drum constantly for about 100 different things per week so his views were probably ignored as even a cock ⏰ is right twice a day.

16 Jun 2025 16:53:21
He has talent, but he needs to get out of his own way and be his own man.
He seems to try and emulate others.

Outside of that, he has a cracking shot, a great character and is intelligent at the game. he's still a young lad and if he wants to stay, we should keep him.

If he isn't 100% committed to Leeds, flog him.

Interesting article, Wolves certainly have a monumental recruitment task ahead, probably need more players than ourselves.

Good, as it means there’s another side other than those promoted teams, on a similar level.

Wolves best signing last year was their manager and he’s being linked with several sides around Europe, again, great news for ourselves.

Agree4 0Disagree

16 Jun 2025 11:46:02
It's definitely going to be a fight for them to stay up. More player departures likely, and I doubt they will keep their gaffer, like you say, bud.
If we get our recruitment right, this could be our best oppoto stay up and build sustainably.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jun 2025 16:11:38
There’s always at least a couple of clubs that seem to struggle at the lower end of the Premiership not including the three promoted.
Our purpose is to stay in touch with the tailenders and hopefully leapfrog them, unlike the three rubbish teams that went up last season.

I agree, if they can hold onto Pereira they’ll be fine, but if not it could be difficult for them along with West Ham and Brentford if they don’t get the right coach in.

15 Jun 2025 23:18:56

Agree with both of you, but will need consistent game time to develop. Thus was a problem for Joffy, and kind of stunted his growth, for won't of a better phrase. He would need to be getting plenty of minutes.

I was expecting that kind of buy. Free transfer, good experience and an international.
We needed two strikers at a minimum and we obviously weren’t going to buy two strikers at £30 plus each.

Contacted a mate who’s an expert on the German n French leagues and he said he’s very versatile as well as being a good player.
So all and all a potentially shrewd signing.

15 Jun 2025 20:36:17
While he didn't play a lot last season, his goals per 90 mins were higher than Piroe and in a top 5 league, so if he can get and stay fit, could be a big help!

Agree3 0Disagree

15 Jun 2025 21:40:06
Farke should have a good understanding and connections with the Bunesliga. He found Gruev and Ao for peanuts and hopefully this free transfer will stay fit and make a significant contribution to the team. It may have been 5 years ago, but the earning of 7 German caps means he's not a complete mug.

Agree2 0Disagree

15 Jun 2025 22:51:27
For no money we have a six foot athletic striker. He will probably be a second striker or a back up. But if he gets and stays fully fit then who knows.

15 Jun 2025 23:55:24
Amazing signing

Free transfer counts as home grown and German international. No it’s not a markee signing but it’s smart and not one linked showing we work well… Phillips, seargent, Beto…, . We move in the darkness like Batman.

16 Jun 2025 00:04:03
Also some fact about him

Scored in debut for Man City in leauge cup against lecister (was a pen)

Scored winning goal in euro u18 final for England

Scored winning goal in euro u21 final for Germany

Scored 21 goals in 41 games fir kompany at anderlecth

I think it’s a great and very smart siging better than bamford and Joseph well done 49ners…. Again.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jun 2025 05:46:30
As Bermo says, he is a tall and athletic striker which seems to pitch him as a Bamford direct replacement.

And on first glance he appears to be an upgrade on both Greenwood and Gelhardt so I think this could be a Win Win situation.
We can now let the above two leave knowing we already have that area covered. We can possibly allow Bamford to leave should we get the marquee striker signing we all think is coming. And Nmecha has the experience for Farke to trust him in the side.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Jun 2025 08:06:42
What Bermo said, not Bermuda.
Vardy plus his wife, baggage and a 250k salary, and pensioners club? Nah. Not what this club is about.
