There is a tiny disagreement going on at the moment regarding next season's formation. Farke wants to revert back to his preferred formation and the board want him to stick with the current one.

Does this mean transfer targets haven’t even been discussed between both parties as they don’t even know which formation will be played?

Can’t buy players when you don’t even know if there is going to be a need for that position or not.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 28 May 2026 13:28:38
Good post, Lad, and very concerning. Farke has to go for me if he is insisting on his 4 3 2 1 formation.

For me, we must continue with 5 3 2 formation. 3 CBs and 2 wing backs.

We look so defensively weak, and concede far too many when we play just 2 CBs, esp if one of the CBs is Pascal.

Both Gabi and Bogle are also weak links defensively in 4 at the back at EPL level.

2.) 28 May 2026 13:30:09
Amendment
4 - 3- 1- 2 formation.

3.) 28 May 2026 13:31:48
No, as we'll be fluid between formations.

And, we can sign players that would suit both a 3-5-2 and a 4-3-3 (eg. wingers that can play centrally like Okafor) , or centre-mids that fit in either.

4.) 28 May 2026 14:15:36
Farke needs to remain pragmatic and flexible, as he showed last term. I think the most successful coaches, whilst maybe beholden to a system, are flexible to some degree. Those who aren't, like Amorim, face the music sooner or later.

I actually don't mind exploring other options beyond the 5-3-2. I think the main reason a 4-2-3-1 hasn't worked for us is the defensive vulnerability and the lack of a competent 10.

That being said, 5-3-2 ought to remain our primary 'Plan A' formation for now. Other sides are well versed in how we use it, but still find it very difficult to break down, as evidenced by, what was it, just 4 defeats post November, and two of those were against City and Arsenal.

5.) 29 May 2026 02:01:18
Should the owners get involved in team matters like formation and selection?

6.) 29 May 2026 08:34:44
Has to stick with the 3 cb's, if he reverts back to type we will get picked apart.

I still wouldn't be 2 surprised if the board let him go over the summer.

7.) 29 May 2026 09:16:26
Exactly, Dave. His impressive end to the season will not save him. Even if he deserves another bite of the cherry. His ambition rant sealed his already likely demise. Said all the time. He is gone.

8.) 29 May 2026 11:38:59
I doubt Farke is replaced by Leeds owners in summer, Aus.

But, if he is going to be, they need to be very decisive and do it very soon.

9.) 29 May 2026 14:52:23
Farke worries me a little next season. If we do go to a back 4 again, we will need two new CBs as the current squad stands. Pascal and Bijol look way better in a back three.

27 May 2026 21:21:36
Just wanted to say I’ve moved roles at work so will be working less with Leeds United directly, still will obviously have friends in places to tell me things but I won’t have any “insider” information anymore unfortunately.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 27 May 2026 21:47:50
No problem, Lad. Appreciate the info you were able to pass in the past.

2.) 28 May 2026 08:01:26
Hope it's a good move for you either way, Lad! Good luck!

3.) 28 May 2026 12:49:25
Thanks Alf and Bright.

20 Apr 2026 19:14:21
Internally seems to be the general consensus that the owners have decided Farke deserves to start as manager next season and have no intentions to replace as he has exceeded expectations. Obviously subject to a disastrous end to the season.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 21 Apr 2026 12:03:16
As expected and predicted.

2.) 25 Apr 2026 07:08:01
Surprise surprise!

3.) 25 Apr 2026 07:47:22
Agree, JR. Very surprised. Time will tell.

4.) 27 Apr 2026 09:39:34
I'm confused. So if he's exceeded expectations, were the board comfortable expecting relegation?
Not taking anything away from Daniel, but if the club have ambition, then we need to be looking for a better level of coach who will also attract a higher level of player.
imo.

5.) 27 Apr 2026 23:27:56
The target this year was 17th.

02 Feb 2026 11:14:43
Kalvin Phillips pushing for a move to Sunderland after yet again been turned down by LUFC, he’s currently in Manchester training but that could change and has a medical booked in Sunderland waiting just incase.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 02 Feb 2026 11:48:13
Gotta feel for the guy. Never get to play for Leeds again. Rich bastard though.

2.) 02 Feb 2026 13:33:11
Now seems to be Sheffield utd as Sunderland wouldn’t guarantee him playing time.

3.) 02 Feb 2026 14:12:53
Shame. And I mean it. Proud Leeds lad. Took the next step and didn’t work out. Freefall now. Good luck to him and hope he bounces back at some point.

4.) 02 Feb 2026 14:46:42
Yeah, I like the lad. Think the move to Man City was suicidal but like all players heads get turned.

5.) 02 Feb 2026 16:23:23
Just one of a number of players who've gone to Man City and then found they didn't fit the Pep plan.
Phillips, Grealish, Cole Palmer, Trafford - maybe others I've forgotten.

6.) 02 Feb 2026 16:39:48
Aus, if you think KP is a rich bastard, you may be interested to learn that (according to the Sunday Times) Erling Haaland pays £16.9M per year in tax, that's £325,000 per week, and that only puts him at no 72 in the top 100 taxpayers.

7.) 02 Feb 2026 17:35:08
The blunts are going to have a 50% Leeds team as the window closes! Hjelde and Rothwell also on their way there!

06 Jan 2026 20:28:34
Leeds in contact with wolves over strand Larsen, wolves in financial trouble and looking to sell, but seemingly many suitors. Monies touted around £25million. Means if this doesn’t come off it does seem we may have some money to spend this window.

Loveawaydays2

{Ed001's Note - isn't it the other way round? Wolves have been trying to shift him and contacting everyone.}

1.) 06 Jan 2026 20:58:52
Quite right. You need to put a full stop between the 2 and the 5. £2.5m is about right.

2.) 06 Jan 2026 21:59:09
He’s surely better value than Parrott.

3.) 06 Jan 2026 22:59:11
Have you heard this from the club LAD or elsewhere?

4.) 06 Jan 2026 23:38:47
Please don't buy parrot.

5.) 07 Jan 2026 16:10:30
From the club ALF,

6.) 07 Jan 2026 16:13:27
I’m not sure who got in contact with who Ed to be honest. I just hear it from the Leeds side point of view and we’ve been in touch with them or they’ve been in touch with us ?‍♂️ but either way, we are considering the offer / terms about signing him.

7.) 07 Jan 2026 17:24:08
we are certainly up against a lot of competition but this would be an amazing signing if we could pull it off.

{Ed025's Note - i think you already have better imo Alf..

8.) 07 Jan 2026 20:06:13
Strand Larsen was good last season, but this season only one goal from 18 appearences - we can do better IMO. Callum Wilson might be a better (and cheaper) bet if he negotiates an end to his contract with Spam and becomes a free agent.

9.) 07 Jan 2026 22:45:01
I think Wilson is already a free agent.

10.) 07 Jan 2026 22:46:15
Don't think you can judge the quality of Larsen on this season. Wolves are a complete mess. Be hard for anyone to perform well in that team this year.

11.) 08 Jan 2026 14:52:53
My biggest worry with Larsen is the contract Wolves just tied him to, which they're clearly looking to get off the books asap!

Stach misses out on Germany selection despite not having a "serious injury". Actually think that's a good thing for Leeds. No World Cup for him to shine in and be taken off our hands and plenty of rest ahead of preseason. Good news I say.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 21 May 2026 15:37:55
Disappointed for him, but from our perspective, yeah, totally for the best! Fresh, fit, and ready for our assault on the Euro places!

26 Apr 2026 10:51:38
On a slight side note, Newcastle, Palace, Burnley and Wolves are (points wise) the only teams with nothing really to play for with only 4 games to go however I believe Scott Parker is playing for his future as is Eddie Howe. Wolves will be wanting to take some momentum into the Championship and Glasner will want to leave on a high, meaning with 4 games remaining there currently isn't any dead rubber games which is going to be difficult for any teams to get easy points.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 26 Apr 2026 11:26:10
To think, Leeds United would and should have been above both Sunderland and Newcastle if we had rightfully beaten/drawn with them in our 2026 fixtures.

Then it would have been Leeds United lads on the beach in the league.

And fully focussed on winning the FA Cup.

2.) 26 Apr 2026 11:55:11
And, if all the other clubs had got the results they thought they deserved, and didn't get the results they didn't deserve, the league table would tell a completely different story. It's not only us who have deserved more from some games, and less from others. ?‍♂️

3.) 26 Apr 2026 12:11:20
Point remains.. we should have been on beach. ⛱️

4.) 26 Apr 2026 12:51:58
Got to agree with Baz. I just hope we do not come to regret the draws where we just could not hold on.

5.) 26 Apr 2026 15:02:36
Even Palace still have a theoretical chance of getting to the European places, lad, but realistically they and most other teams from 10th down have little chance of doing that. There was a rumour going round yesterday that Sunderland are considering sacking Le Bris if they fail to qualify for Europe - unbelievable!

6.) 26 Apr 2026 17:11:41
I was referring solely to the 2 games Baz mentioned.

Leeds and the Run-In: Can We Reach 40 Points?

Good write up LAD. it's achievable certainly unless we do something Leedsy but we wouldn't, would we?

2.) 17 Feb 2026 12:31:39
Nice one LAD, totally agree re Wet Spam and Florists. Of the others can't really see anyone apart from Spuds and Brighton coming close but you would think they have too much, just. Next 3 games are vital for us, Villa away I can see us getting something as well as home v Citeh.

If we don't the home game v Sunderland is massive. Personally I can see us getting 46+ points. Pressure is a massive influencer and if the 3 just below us don't pick up wins in the next few games it's going to be a bun fight for them with no butter. Confident our boys can handle the heat and make us proud. UTWDTP wiv some hot cross buns.

3.) 17 Feb 2026 20:19:18
Only 40 days to go until we can enjoy hot cross buns. I hope you had your pancakes today. ?.

Great post LAD2 think there’s always a twist, do either Spuds or Forest get a bounce from their new Manager, your right Nuno definitely has turned Wet Sham around of late, with Cy in hot scoring form.

I think we will actually get there with a couple to spare, but have a feeling Nuno may yet escape condemning one of his old employers, mainly due to the European fixtures placing additional pressures on their squads.

30 Dec 2025 23:03:52
Last season 26 points would have kept you in this league, I fully believe we will need way more than this, this season but comparing to last year half way through after 19 games the bottom 3 were
Tractors 15 points
Foxes 14 points
Saints 6 points

This season currently
West Ham 14
Burnley 12
Wolves 3

So currently less points needed midway through the season.

Hopefully the season follows last seasons form for the bottom 3.

Loveawaydays2

1.) 31 Dec 2025 00:43:22
A Wolves win at home to Wet Spam on Saturday will do nicely.

2.) 31 Dec 2025 00:58:22
You could reasonably think the bottom two are down. I can’t see any reason why their form could suddenly improve. I know ours did but seem stuck in the mud. Spam or forest could still pose a problem though.

3.) 31 Dec 2025 07:12:43
I'm thinking about 40 this season to stay up. Bottom 3 last season were truly abysmal.

4.) 31 Dec 2025 08:09:31
Sounded like Burnley should've won vs Geordies, and the Spam result wasn't so bad considering the opponent. This is far from over unfortunately.

5.) 31 Dec 2025 10:56:46
Great post LAD.

Agree Brighty, large lady is far from singing as yet, Wolves put on a very spirited display away at Devon yesterday and could have easily won that game, the big unit up top for them was a constant menace throughout and lightning quick, he would have been a handy signing.

The thing that worries me as much as the transfer window is the significant Wales contingent within our squad, if they lose their playoff game, well, we have seen the Welsh players lose form quickly after a significant defeat.

6.) 31 Dec 2025 11:27:01
Fair points lads, I would concur with Alf that 40 points should do the trick. Think Wolves have too big a mountain to climb. Burnley have 2 fatal flaws in that they can't put away their chances and their defence is awful. Wet Spam can't seem to hold on to a lead or win at home which is going to make it real tough for them.

Florists seem to have hit a flat spot after their initial bounce. If we continue to perform at home and chisel out some away points we will be absolutely fine. Here's lookin forward to 2 cracking games coming up ?.

7.) 31 Dec 2025 16:38:29
The way things are going Class, none of them my be playing in the international play off with James and Rodon both injured already.

Also I think the last time Farke set a points target of 90 in the Championship to get automatic promotion, it failed.
Got to try and win every game, I’ve got a feeling that 18th place will be a very unusually high pointer come the end of this season.

8.) 31 Dec 2025 19:49:09
I’d take them missing playoffs Opti, but end of March means they may all be available, Amps fans really upped his game lately and it would be terrible if we were impacted by a Wales loss.

Of course they might win and qualify!

And that would boost their confidence, come on Wales!

I'm not particularly bothered whether we go for Paxio or not, but we did spend a little time chasing Stach, who was an on-off transfer, and eventually he came. Sometimes the chasing is worth it and pays off.

But I also feel, (same with Stach) , if they were difficult to obtain in the first place, they don't see us as the end goal, and use us as a stepping stone, and that isn't "side before self" motto.

Spence's attitude stinks. He's more interested in living his best life than he is actually interested in playing football. He will eventually fade like Dele Alli and Balotelli, undoubtedly talented, but doesn't have the desire to be better.

Maybe, but then so do the opponents' attackers, meaning a shootout comes down to who scores the most, meaning neither team has the advantage.

A penalty is a punishment, fine, or disadvantage imposed for breaking a rule, law, or contractual obligation. It can apply to various contexts, ranging from legal consequences and financial fees to rule violations in sports.

Surely, based on the definition of a penalty, the idea is to give the attacking team the advantage and the defending team a disadvantage? If you didn't do this then defenders would be less concerned of giving penalties away as there was no longer an advantage to the attacker.

Think, if you are a striker, you shouldn’t be allowed to win it.

If you score more than 1 goal in a game, it shouldn’t count.

If a goalkeeper doesn’t make a save, they shouldn’t get a clean sheet and then win the Golden Glove award.

Players spend hours practicing penalties and it is part of the game, so, therefore, should totally be included.

Apologies, LLF, if I upset you. I do seem to recall saying something in a post. Think I can get too defensive when it feels like players and staff get a lot of abuse. Yes, they are well paid, but that doesn't make them less human, and when I see them day in, day out, and won't go as far as saying "friends", but colleagues, it does upset me when I see constant abuse aimed at the same people I then see the day after working 20 hours a day doing their best, and people who may not have the full facts take aim blindly.

So, apologies if my defence of these people took aim at you. It won't have been personal to you.

Glad to have you back. ALAW.
