We've got one of our own to keep an eye on, and it's not Harry Gray. He's a winger called Carrick Njinko. He'll hit 18 next Tuesday (Sep 15) and was named PL2 player of the month for August. He scored four goals and three assists for the Under-18s, then went to the Under-21s, and got four goals in nine games, including a hat trick against West Brom U21s.
One for the future, as long as we manage to hold on to him.

It was always on the cards that Piroe was going to stay and see out his contract. Given his age, he'll get a good signing on fee when he leaves.
But, agree with Aus. He isn't going to play, so maybe we just bite the bullet and send him out on loan for a fee and wages paid.
He'd do a good job in the Championship and would maintain his fitness and sharpness at that level. Burnley would be a good destination and it might help our case if we're really interested in Fleming. We'd gain and Burnley wouldn't lose out.

I think we can be a little more bullish on Piroe.
The issue isn't that there isn't interest, more that he wanted to stay. If Farke is playing realist with him and communicating that he won't get more minutes than last season, his view on leaving or staying might change.
Agree, try and use him as a makeweight with Flemming. £9m and Piroe.

Farke was pretty clear in the Salzburg friendly when he said that Piroe didn't get on as he is behind all our other strikers in the packing order. He won't go on loan either, so we are stuck. That's the issue with contracts. Unless an opportunity comes that interests him, we can't make him leave.

Okafor only manages 60 mins (generally) , so a good left sided midfielder is required (been using Nmeca as first change) . Farke clearly won't use Large, so loan or sale is required. It's not always about the fee, but the reduction in wages to fuel acquisitions. Get him gone for a couple of mill to give the player certainty over his future..

Okafor needs to be moved on if he cannot increase his match minutes. A strategy cannot be based on a pre-match substitution for him every game at 60 mins, and he'll be a bench warmer, not a starter. He has a bit of quality, but is very hit and miss.

Being linked with a few, but Scheperen is already in talks with Ipswich, and they have signed Oevelen as back up. Tzolakis linked with us, but it looks like he's off to Hull. Suzuki seemingly is interested, but the price quoted is around £26m.
There'll be others, but it's slow progress.
Disagreement with Torino re Perri, who wants an option to buy, but we're insisting on an obligation. On past performance on loans, I expect us to give in.

This needs sorting ASAP, as it's not in any way ideal preparation for the start of the EPL season, nor a good look on our recruitment dept imo. ?

It was a disappointing afternoon, that's for sure. Unfortunately quite a few didn't turn up at all. Thankfully the defence did in the main.
I know after the Newcastle game, there was a lot of expectation, but Palace are no mugs and are a hard working solid team. They've picked up 3 trophies in the last 12 months.
In my view, the way we were playing [not], I was fully expecting a defeat and on another day, e. g. last season, that was exactly the game we would have lost.
Perversely, I think had their goal stood, we might have picked up in the last 30 minutes and still got a draw, had that been the case, the comments this morning might have been a bit different, even though it would still be 2 points dropped.
One our "esteemed" posters said we had to get 4 points from our two home games, we did that.
I expect us to be a lot better v Arsenal.

A very hard watch with little going forward apart from the occasional foray by Okafor. Amps and Gary had to make some decent last minute tackles and JT kept us in the game.
Good that Bahoya got a couple of minutes. Not long enough to show what he can do but he obviously has pace and hopefully he'll get more opportunity to prove he's worth signing.

The little tweak on formation has caused a few problems. I'm glad he made it. It was necessary. But leaves a few players scrapping for one spot really. Bayou untried and Wilson and stack underwhelming. And Okafor and James on different wings.
It's a conundrum. Think adding an extra mf instead of having two wingers a good thing. Bogle and Justin more than enough poke on that side. Leaving Okafor on his own. Or no Okafor and ba or Wilson.
