According to Sky Sports, Brandt has had offers from Leeds and Ajax but prefers a PL option. However, he's still waiting to see if he gets interest from Serie A.
One of his recent postings had an hour glass in it which might mean the time is coming for a decision to be made.

Seems to be a lot more chatter going on re Trafford, especially as Newcastle seem to have withdrawn their interest.
Surprising one with the fee being suggested but that was the opening gambit.

Money v what? Prob always second or third choice, team and country. Better keep taking dosh. It's an impossible deal. Move on unless under 25.

If he wants to play football and get himself into the England squad - it makes sense to move. He's guaranteed number one with us, which makes it an attractive proposition. Newcastle have just spent £20m on a new keeper, so it makes sense that he wouldn't want to be stuck in a similar position as last year, albeit against a more reasonable rival for position.
I think, from this year's World Cup, it is clear Pickford's days as England No.1 are done - at least at major competitions.
I feel there is a suitable chance for him to jump ahead of Henderson into that new No.1 slot, but he needs to play - and he will be acutely aware of this. to our benefit, hopefully!

One name that appears in a link to us now and then is Hague at Bodo/Glimt, an inverted winger. Don't see that as a necessity as we're fairly well stocked in that area. However, his team mate Kasper Hogh is a centre forward with a good strike rate and did well in Europe last season.
He's not on a big wage by Premier League standards and would probably not be expensive.

Hull seem to be putting a squad together but any approach for Joffy seems to be on the back burner.
Not sure what their intentions are but suspect they might play hardball and hold off until the last couple of days and then put in a ridiculously low offer.
If he's going then we need to be offering him out to other clubs and force their hand.

Saw an interesting post of most valuable English strikers under 30 (based on TransferMarkt) for the post-Kane world. Joffy was 6th (and DCL 3rd) !
Not sure that's necessarily good about Joffy, so much as bad for England, but was surprised by how high he was!

Pleased with the Harry Wilson signing and on paper, Tarik looks to be a good addition.
We're being linked with a number of players and apart from Elvedi they mostly seem to be a minimum of £25m plus. That's great, if we have the money.
If we got rid of all the loanees it might buy us one player. If we sell one of the current squad, it still means we have to replace them with probably a more expensive newcomer.
We still need 1 or 2 keepers, 1 or 2 FB, maybe a CB if Bournauw goes, an AM and a striker.
I'm not sure how we finance those requirements out of our supposed budget of £85m if we've already spent £35m on Tarik.
I can only surmise that we're looking at the loan market to bulk out the squad, but hopefully improve it at the same time. Hopefully we'll be a bit more selective and avoid another Buananotte.

Yes, we needed to sell in last year's accounts to balance the books from a PSR perspective, but that won't impact how much we can spend this year. We have money available where needed, it's just we need to comply with the spending rules (SCR this season) . These are two different things.

You're right, Alf. The previous PSR regime was on a rolling 3 year basis and Pascal's sale was to meet that criteria. If PSR was continuing, we wouldn't be able to carry it over, but SCR is starting 26/27, so we only have to meet the 85% rule every season to be free of sanctions.

From an accounting point of view, yes, Dun, but the money still belongs to Leeds United, and they are free to use it as they choose. Rather like your March pay packet fell into last year's tax calculations, but you spent it in April.

The point is that we have to hit the 85% rule. The Club can spend as much as it wants, but if we use money from previous accounting periods to buy players and pay wages this season, then we have to compensate this season by increasing our revenue through commercial activities, reducing our wage bill, or increasing our revenue from the sale of players.
The income in this accounting period determines what we can spend.
This new system has been set up to stop some clubs selling off assets at inflated prices to linked companies, to improve their balance sheets and to prevent them from living beyond their means.

There are rumours that some of our players are off. Schmidt back to Switzerland and JH back to the States, but that might mean we take a bit of a hit.
Wober is back. As a player I didn't mind him but he's always been too injury prone and I'm not sure he can resolve that issue.
I'd like to keep Large. As a squad player I think he can offer something off the bench. What I don't want is another loan with an option to buy. If he stays then Willie G might be going but that would boost our budget.
I'm wondering what's going to happen to Joffy? Hull don't seem to be making any early moves and no one else seems to be in the frame. After a bright start and interest from other clubs he lost his way. He's not suited to leading the line but he's capable of playing alongside someone else or in a pressing midfield.
It will be interesting to see who is given a chance in the pre season training and games and how they perform. If anyone does stand out then it may change Farke's view of them.

Agree, LLF. Johnston is the sort of back up you need. Experience, reasonably good career, but someone who is at the end of it. No good getting a good youngster, as they don't progress. They need to be bought and loaned out.

They won't let Perri go unless they've two lined up; otherwise, selling clubs will know you're desperate to recruit. Trafford should be one. Not sure about the other.
We need to get Trafford tied up as Martinez is not happy at Villa, and although he's returning to pre-season, he is very much on Juve's radar.

If we want to free up cash and improve our squad ratio figures. AO is the one to go, and we are reasonably well covered in midfield.
Hope we don't change formation. It might mean we don't have to look at any CB alternatives, but we might need two new FB's, as Gud and Bogle are fine going forward, but not the best defensively, and a back four needs two solid FB's.

At least the two exits free up money from the wage bill, and Perri is likely to be the next one. Comment that the fee is undisclosed for JH, so hopefully we got something to add to the pot.
No movement yet on Ramz or Joffy, and no indication re the contract situation with BA and Gruev.
If they don't sign, or we're not offering, they need to go.
Piroe is probably staying just to run his contract down, but there's always the chance that the other two will do the same.

Agree, Aus2, that we are improving the squad with the three signings (assuming Trafford arrives) , and hopefully at least another 3 (second keeper, AM and striker certainly needed) . It might be that one of the junior players will be promoted to the main squad as well.
Last year's loanees are slowly getting off the wage bill.
However, if we're not careful, we'll have a fairly bloated squad, so we need to shift a winger, a midfielder, and maybe a CB: Willie/DJ, Bournauw, and Gruev if he doesn't sign a new contract, or AO if we want a good return.
It's been commented by several posters that AO is better when he starts a game, but that doesn't seem to be on Farke's agenda.

You're right, Vid, about the 85% squad spending ratio, but you only get a points deduction if you exceed 115% - automatic 6 points.
A club can spend up to 115%, but there is a rolling period, and any underspend in following seasons is used to offset the excess this year.
The gamble might be to spend up to 115%, improve the squad enough to ensure safety, so that over the next couple of seasons the spending could be below the 85% level and incur no financial penalty.
We're also pursuing Leicester for £35m, so there might be some cash from that as well.

Agree, Alf, with most of what you've said. It will be a big statement if we get him, and hopefully stop the procession of not necessarily poor but definitely inconsistent keepers we've had for some time.
Those we've bought so far have been upgrades, and we've not lost anyone apart from Pascal, although I think there might be an odd one or two from last year's squad who do move on.
We've also managed to shift some wages with Wober, and hopefully JH.
We still need an additional striker, an am, and a bit more cover at fb, so I hope there will be more incomings.
Just back to Trafford. You mentioned his shot-stopping ability. My Burnley mate, who's a season-ticket holder, has seen a lot of him, and his comments were that he is a great shot-stopper, but if he has a weakness it's with crosses. I'm sorry to see KD go, but hopefully we'll get someone who can be a step up.
