Leeds United are ahead of Aston Villa in the battle to sign 23-year-old Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Serie A side Parma.

Apparently Darlow wants to stay at Leeds, partly due to him and his family being settled here, and also being with his Welsh teammates, but not necessarily pushing for 1st team football. He mainly wanted better wages.

There's absolutely no way we spend £25-30m on Suzuki to be back up to a 35-year-old Darlow.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see Perri or Gnonto go the other way to "cheapen" the cash involved in any deal.

I quite fancy the Freiburg goalie Noah Atubolu, but he's also rated at £25M. However, Freiburg want to sign Willie Gnonto, so some sort of PX deal could be possible.

Apart from Darlow our recruitment of keepers over the last few years has been abysmal. I don't think Perri is a total lost cause at the moment but FGS just strike a deal with KD and shut down the rumours that we're about to spend £25 m plus on a replacement.
There are other areas that need more urgent attention and cash.

At 12:39 today Leeds Live announced that "Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Harry Wilson as a free agent, with a medical to follow in due course."

Of course, contrary to what some people would have us believe, I'm pretty sure it won't be a "done deal" until after the medical. I know I'd not sign the contract on behalf of the club until that is complete. Those of us with long memories only need to cite the name Asa Hartford in that respect.

Leeds settled for £1.5m because we weren't relegated, but finished below Everton. Burnley got £30m because they were relegated, and the financial loss was much more significant.

Rumour in the Yorkshire Evening Post that we're thinking of a loan deal with Barcelona for Roony Bardghji, a highly rated 20 yr old Swedish right winger. Since Barcelona still owe us around €42m (£36.5m) on the Raphina deal, maybe we could offer them a small reduction in that debt in exchange for a free loan deal, maybe with an option to buy too.

They've just bought Gordon, and the Rashford deal isn't dead if they can lever the fee down a bit, so Bardghji is probably way down the pecking order. I'd read that Barca were keen to sell. They paid EUR2m for him a year ago on a four-year contract, but want substantially more. Interest from several PL clubs, allegedly.

He's a good player and if we are looking at him we won't be the only ones. In addition to his talent, his height and his athleticism, he brings some versatility to the team as well.
He's primarily a defensive midfielder, but can play CB, RB, and more advanced as well.
I like the idea of having one or two in the squad who can fill several roles. It worked well with Madeley.

imo, given Leeds United were only in second season back in Division 1 after promotion, the 91/92 is Leeds United's greatest ever season/ best ever achievement. ?
..even more a tad than the Great Don's Champions seasons.

In 91/2, we ended up on 82 pts; if it had been 3 pts for a win in 73/4, we'd have finished on 86.

Yes JR, with Man U being relegated in 73/74, that was a superb bonus and the most gratifying of years, with us as very dominant champions.
The 73/74 team were somewhat better than the 91/92 team too.
It's just, for me, the 91/92 team's achievement is a tad better overall.

I think 1991/92 was seen as a great achievement, given the misery of the previous decade and a half. It was somewhat unexpected, whereas in the 70's, I am pretty sure we were amongst the favourites each year.
We started the next season pretty well, and I remember watching us thump Spurs at Elland Road 5-0, and most pundits saying we would win it again; sadly, what transpired was really poor.
I am not sure if it was, and still is, the worst ever title defence?
It somewhat tarnished the overall Wilko era, given we never really kicked on and won more trophies. I genuinely believe we were better than Man Un and Liverpool at the time, but both of those teams never looked back.

Back in the day, our game wasn't shown live, but was shown delayed in full on ITV. If anyone remembers, ITV showed the wrong league table before the game, that is, with our extra points from the game we were about to watch.
I never noticed and still watched the game not knowing the outcome.

It all depended on where you were living at the time, I guess, Corkey. From my recollection, ITV, at the time, was the only broadcaster of live football, that being the "Big Match". In the Central region, where I was living, they showed the match in its entirety at 2:00 PM, even though the match kicked off at 12:00 midday, only 20 miles up the road.
It's quite possible that Yorkshire TV and other regions showed the match live.
Interestingly, the Man U v Liverpool game was the last terrestrial live TV league match before Sky took over.

I expected more than we got from Wilson, but it's very early days, so I'll pass on that. Otherwise, I concur with all you say, Six. I was very happy with Okafor, who terrorised their defensive right side, and Willy was a revelation at RWB.
Trafford's distribution was noticeably better than Darlow or Perri. As well as his tackling and heading prowess, Mahremovic has excellent positional awareness. So far so good.

Disagree with your "all defenders 6 or less, except Rodon" statement, Baz. I thought Mahremovic was at least a 7 too, with some great saving tackles and good positional awareness.
Also, you rate Gnonto as 8, and I agree. He was playing as a stand-in RWB, and was surprisingly good. Okafor and BA, I also agree, I think both have come back from WC26 with a point to prove.

A permanent tribute to Marcelo Bielsa has opened at Elland Road.
The final legacy stones have been installed at Bielsa Place, creating a lasting landmark that celebrates supporters while honouring the legacy of Marcelo Bielsa.
It honours the club's passionate fanbase and pays tribute to the former Whites boss, who inspired the club to promotion back to the Premier League in 2020 - after a 16-year absence.
More than 1,700 stones have been placed in the new section of the East Stand.
The spot even features a marble replica bucket for fans to sit and reflect on - symbolising the one Bielsa famously perched on.
A spokesman for Leeds United said: "Bielsa Place honours the man who brought belief, passion, and top-flight football back to Leeds United."
"This special area features a marble replica of the bucket, the very one he famously sat on while masterminding our return to the Premier League, as well as a stone silhouette capturing one of his most iconic images."
More than 1,700 stones have been placed in the new section of the East Stand, next to the Elland Road reception area, with 673 supporter names also featured in the area.
Bielsa Place was named alongside Howard's Way as the two new sections of Legacy Stones available for supporters to purchase to etch their names onto Elland Road, with the latter currently expected to be installed at the end of July to start of August.
All Legacy Stones are now sold out online.
