I think it's safe to assume at this stage that no one is coming. Bit i'd they don't intend to sign anyone why not put us out of our misery? They know we spend every deadline day refreshing 10 different websites like idiots. Think how many cases of RSI could be avoided? How much money it costs the economy with us not really working? And if they don't tell us that nothing is happening because they are actually trying to sign people, why does it never happen? Ever? You'd think just by chance it would work out now and again.

I'm not even sure I particularly want anyone, I just want a deadline day signing, just once, just so I k ow what it feels like.

Apparently we're interested in Ben Doak from Liverpool for £20m. Bought from Celtic's academy. My mate who's a Celtic fan says he's tiny but quick. Name sounds made up to me, sounds like the next big project for them fellas that cut down the Sycamore Gap.

A good young one but are we going to pay £20m for a squad player? I'd rather have Solomon for a similar or maybe lower price.

2.) 07 Aug 2025 20:30:26
On loan at Boro last season until injured.
Was pretty tricky and looked like he could be decent.

{Ed025's Note - according to their supporters Canada he was by far their best player mate..

3.) 07 Aug 2025 21:15:44
If I recall he looked very good against us, but that was likely against Junior so i'd look half reasonable!

Maybe it's already been said, not been on for a few days, but for me this is a massive day for Palace. Not because of who they're playing, they'll have more winnable games, but because in the 2nd half against 10 man Forest it was obvious they desperately needed a central striker so if JSL doesn't work out then they are as good as down.

You heard it here first. Or maybe 2nd, or 3rd .

1.) 08 Feb 2026 15:55:23
they are winning unfortunately.

2.) 08 Feb 2026 16:09:02
Welcome to the party Brighton.

3.) 08 Feb 2026 17:03:02
How poor did Brighton look.

4.) 08 Feb 2026 17:07:09
Absolutely Bobby: )

40 points seems to be an absolute must this season and Brighton ain't there yet!

5.) 08 Feb 2026 17:40:49
Big win for Palace in their derby game with Brighton, thought Strand Larsen played ok not £50 million ok, but if Palace stay up due to his signing they’ll have got their money back.

Lots of angry Brighton friends at the end, my coaching mate talks of genuine concerns in the Brighton board level.

6.) 08 Feb 2026 17:45:54
From Palace in 13th down is looking dicey.

02 Feb 2026 19:51:10
Right, all done and dusted then, let's get the last few whinges out the way and focus on the rest of the season. We've got Forest, Wolves and Burnley to play home. Win those 3 and that's 35 points plus the odd draw equals safety, which all we could ever hope for.

I think Palace will live to regret JSL especially Astley didn't manage to sell Mateta. Or I'll live to regret saying that .

1.) 02 Feb 2026 20:31:54
Mateta out for the rest of the season getting an op on his knee now so I guess they need the cover that JSL should provide.

02 Feb 2026 14:35:02
I think we should all go to bed.

Not just yet DG
????.

2.) 02 Feb 2026 17:17:37
Spending 50 Mil on a player like Larsen is nothing short of insanity. If that’s the price you have to pay in this crazy transfer window you can keep it.
Not bothered at all, I trust In what we have already.

I said in the week (not on here) that if we ended the weekend still 6 clear of West Ham I'd be happy. We did and I am. 4-0 flattered Arsenal but we can't pretend we deserved any points. We looked decent in 2nd half until they scored the 3rd but didn't really look like scoring 2.They are a lot better than us and it showed. I don't mind that. As we all know there are leagues within leagues and us and Arsenal are in different ones.

Losing a 2 goal lead will hurt West Ham more than us losing a game everyone knew we would. And they are missing a centre half for 3 games. Obviously Friday is massive. And I'm on holiday so let's hope the WiFi is decent! If anyone fancies going seat 3, row O L36 east upper is available. Say hello to Andrew and Elaine!

I'm happy to attend on your stead Dgood if you can send me your ticket!

Don't get me wrong, I know we're too conservative when it comes to the transfer market, but £50m is too much for someone who might be rubbish. Spending that much on a player that doesn't work could ruin us for next season, make us sell at a loss or sell players we would rather keep, to balance rhe books.

And for what? The aim this season is to stay up and our squad is already up to that. Better to shop in the summer, and learn from last summer I say. Palace are spiralling and if they pay £50m, panic buying.

Dgoodwin

1.) 29 Jan 2026 20:35:31
Absolutely DG!
Nearly fell off my chair when I saw that price tag.

Makes you wonder what Palace will ask, and get for Mateta who is on a different level to Strand Larsen.

What price for DCL given the season he's having? Not that we'd now sell of course:)

2.) 29 Jan 2026 21:57:24
Absolutely lads, this whole saga bemuses me really. I was staggered we offered what we did for a player who let's face it ain't ripping up teams. We don't desperately need a statement signing just cover then spend that dosh in the summer.

It now seems the deal is stalling but I hope we just walk away because £40 million plus and his wage demands ain't worth it.

3.) 30 Jan 2026 07:44:16
I have a gut feel that this one is going through. Either that or its wind. And then the wind is telling me that he will prove his worth and be a success.

4.) 30 Jan 2026 08:58:43
Not with you on either count bright. Don’t think it will happen and if it does not sure he will prove his worth. Happy to be completely wrong. Well, not happy. But you get what I mean.

If that's true I'm seriously concerned. We could just about survive without Rodon and Bijol but with Nmecha or DCL up top the 5-3-2 obviously doesn't work, and it's the only thing that has worked.

Strikers only score 20 plus a season if they're in top six teams. I know a quality striker will part of the reason the team ends being top six, but my point is, if Haaland, Kane, Salah, the Newcastle version of Isak et al were playing for us or one of the teams around us they wouldn't be scoring anything like the amounts they do for the clubs they play for.

They would improve us for sure but a 25 goal striker at say Arsenal would maybe get 15 for us. So we can't sensibly expect 25 goals a season from JSL or anyone else just by adding him. to our squad. I genuinely think if DCL had been. at Arsenal this season he'd be in the running for the golden boot. I hope Arteta doesn't visit thos site.

Having seen what I've seen of DCL (and I was as underwhelmed as anyone when we signed him) I think if he can play enough (big if I know) , we have 9 covered and if we could get a proper 10 we could create enough to be ok. Not sure Hamer is the answer. Buendia maybe.

Was thinking that about Solomon who's on the bench today, but I think they only leave them out if a deal is basically done. No suggestion that either are at that stage.

I don't think Farke will be the first sacking. Love or loathe out board they are not reactionary. There will be a club or twoexpected to do ok that underperform early on and one of those managers will be the scapegoat. Who's got the Brentford job? Tempted to put a quid on him.

Yes you are the only one! ? seriously though it depends whether they see him as the answer to our number 9 problem, which he can't be with his fitness or a useful option which he could be. Personally I think even when he's fit he's overrated. Had more bad seasons than good. But I'll sing his name on Monday and be delighted to be proved wrong.
