Coventry bid £20m for on loan Brighton Carl Rushworth.

I think that is still excellent value for the 24 year old English keeper, and a far better option than Nick Pope and an upgrade on Darlow in my opinion.

Classof92

1.) 08 Jun 2026 13:22:41
Yep. Here we go again. Outsmarted and outbid by lesser teams.

2.) 08 Jun 2026 13:46:08
Of course he was on loan to Coventry last season, so a bid from them was virtually inevitable.

3.) 08 Jun 2026 14:15:17
Brighton have 2 good, very dependable 35 year old gks in Vebruggen and Steele.

But even so, if Brighton were to sell 24 year old Rushworth this summer, that suggests for me they don't rate him that highly.

Brighton are also renowned for getting top dollar from any player sale (rated highly by them or not) , so will be looking for more than £20 million imo.

By the way, Coventry, with Rushworth in a weak standard Champo, were still shipping in a goal per game. ?

4.) 08 Jun 2026 15:15:37
Accidentally thumbs upped Class of 92's ridiculous reply. How exactly have we been outsmarted to sign a keeper we have never had any interest in?

5.) 08 Jun 2026 15:19:11
Rushworth has played nearly 200 games, but not one for Brighton, and I think he's one year left on his contract. Time to cash in Rushworth for good money.
Their current senior keepers are ok, and they have a youngster coming through - James Beadle. He might end up the best of them. Only 19.

6.) 08 Jun 2026 15:31:43
Hmmmm. That wasn't Class who made that reply. I guess, 'tt' stands for tut tut?

7.) 08 Jun 2026 16:23:09
Aha, Dune, only one year left on his contract.

In that case, Brighton might not get top dollar for him.

8.) 08 Jun 2026 16:48:41
Brighton (Matt Ryan) aside, has a fantastic record for signing and developing keepers. Walton, a very good keeper, went to Ipswich for a song. Beadle is highly rated, but, for the supporters, believe it or not, Jason Steele is still far and away the most popular keeper.

Tom McGill is the next keeper to make the next step (loan club) this coming season.

Verbruggen's agent is not hugely popular, as he is constantly trying to market him out to Spuds/Bayern.

Don't think we will actually sign a keeper (actually, I believe we do need one, though) . Karl is a great back up, but we have to look to improve every year if we want to maintain our EPL status.

Nothing in my post about being outsmarted. Just love my club to sign a fantastic young keeper we can rely on for a good few seasons.

9.) 08 Jun 2026 17:18:40
Baz, one year left on Rushworth's contract, but an option for a further year.

10.) 09 Jun 2026 07:22:17
They will trigger the extension, thus increasing the sale price.

11.) 09 Jun 2026 18:58:58
The English market is absolutely nuts.

12 Apr 2026 21:35:55
See we’re linked with Brighton keeper Carl Rushworth. Have seen this boy play at senior level since he was 17 years old, he’s a fantastic keeper. Be amazed if Brighton sell him, with rumours over Ver-Bruggen leaving but we should definitely out bid Coventry or anyone else for him, future England international, he’s that promising already, better than Trafford in my eyes.

Classof92

1.) 13 Apr 2026 19:43:53
I heard great things about him last season and apparently he's been great this season.
20 million should do it by all accounts?

2.) 14 Apr 2026 00:24:26
Best friend is a Cov fan, so I do watch a number of their games.
He looks like he'd be a step up on Perri for sure.

3.) 16 Apr 2026 19:32:35
He's not the biggest keeper but he's always done well and is liked wherever he's played.
He's 24, played nearly 200 games, but not one for Brighton. He must be getting to the point where he has a decision to make if he wants to further his career.

Spurs allegedly have agreed a new loan for Solomon with Fiorentina believed to have included a buy-option clause worth around £8.7m in the agreement.

Seems good value, but we probably have higher priorities following Rodons injury and the striker cover requirements.

Classof92

1.) 02 Jan 2026 15:54:10
I think we got Okafor instead of Solomon but 8-9 certainly a bargain imo.

A new CB and a 10 definitely higher priorities.

2.) 02 Jan 2026 16:26:53
Don’t really need another winger given the new system.

3.) 02 Jan 2026 21:37:24
Maybe we don't but Willy G isn't getting much game time (and I wish he was) and if we're not going to play him then he could be sold at a big profit. At £8m Solomon would be a good, cheaper replacement. MS came up with goals at the right time last season.

4.) 04 Jan 2026 20:29:42
Don't forget Gnonto came with a huge sell on clause (40% I believe) so we won't make as much from a sale as you'd hope.

02 Dec 2025 18:07:00
Read with interest there is a short recall clause on Joffy in Jan window, now he’s scoring goals for fun, but the club wanted to sell but couldn’t agree a deal.

Now talk of £8million offer, I loved jiffy sadly I’m not convinced he’s epl level.

But £8million doesn’t get you a lot these days, but we need goals from somewhere.

Classof92

1.) 03 Dec 2025 00:02:10
Not prem league level. Take the 8 and buy Solomon.

2.) 03 Dec 2025 14:21:13
Should have bought Solomon in the summer Aus, cannot understand for one second why we didn't get the deal done.
Well I can, our recruitment team are Pony.

3.) 03 Dec 2025 15:26:00
He didn't want to move up north. His family are in London.

4.) 03 Dec 2025 17:38:11
But he's on the continent now, that well known part of London.

5.) 05 Dec 2025 02:26:09
Maybe he was being polite and just hates Leeds.
Thinking about it, rothwell said he wouldn't sign permanently at Leeds because his family were in sarrfampton. then he moved to Glasgow.

Hmm.

29 Jun 2025 07:46:19
Linked with Madhi Camara, whose stats are far better than Diaras last season and could be half the price.

Probably clickbait but looks a player either the 8 or 10 position if true.

Classof92

1.) 29 Jun 2025 11:12:10
Read that one too, plus Viera's not so high opinion od Diarra! At 30mill, we may have dodged a bullet? Dunno personally tbf!

Watched first England game, an improvement on what went previously, erm second one, very hard to breakdown such a tight congested low block tough watch.

But did enjoy Morocco vs Haiti both gave it a real go and was a good watch with super goal by Isador, just saying .

But got to call Brighty out for highlighting a good while ago the scourge of the abandoned cross where winger, wing back, full back go flying down the wing with forwards open in the box only to check back and give the ball all the way back to a defender for ten minutes!

Does anyone touch the ball more than a centre back these days?

It's giving me anxiety attacks now I'm waiting for them NOT to cross and the more open they were the worse it is!

Why Brighty, why I was happier not noticing ?.

Classof92

1.) 25 Jun 2026 17:21:21
Lol Class! Sorry, pal!

19 Jun 2026 12:13:38
First game away at Florists, last game away at Palace. How’s that fair? Oh, forgot it’s Leeds United.

Classof92

1.) 19 Jun 2026 18:15:02
Last game will be great, it will secure our qualification for Europe and send Palace down to the Champo on their own turf ! Awesome.

I'm quite liking our fixtures, we don't have any particular nightmare months, fairly evenly spread. December is probably the biggest challenge.

2.) 19 Jun 2026 18:35:38
Yes, I was hoping that the last game against Palace was at Elland Road, so that we could celebrate winning the league. ? So inconvenient.
Let it be known that the last time we met Forest in our opener in the top flight, we won the league.

3.) 19 Jun 2026 18:59:26
Yep, but we were at home vs Forest (not away) in 91/92.

We had a superb team, esp in midfield, and a very good manager.

4.) 19 Jun 2026 19:58:45
Last game of the season away - again!

5.) 19 Jun 2026 20:16:23
Exactly, JR, had a cursory glance and Arsenal at home for both first and last games, Devon away first game, home last, Citeh same, and whilst I didn't check every side, Spuds and ourselves away first and last games. But I like your thinking OP. ?

6.) 19 Jun 2026 20:47:18
Suspect Leeds may have asked for the first and last games to be away to give the builders an extra couple of weeks.

7.) 19 Jun 2026 21:07:06
But, as usual, it'll have been arranged so that Arsenal/ManU/ManC/Liverpool/etc never play each other in the first or last 6 games or so. Why do they justify such special treatment?

09 Jun 2026 08:47:23
Have to start by saying I'm not absolutely sure what our deal is with Red Bull, is it purely shirts and PR or do we have access to the full Red Bull football conglomerate?

Just looking at the amount of young talent and success by many Red Bull affiliated teams in world football and well . I want more benefits for Leeds United in particular access/ sharing of key talent.

Now previously if you suggested to me name changes, stadium naming rights to Red Bull etc I would have been fiercely against it but now I'm mellowing or becoming more pragmatic in that without the billions that support the likes of PSG, Citeh, Newcastle etc from rogue states, we'll, we must find ways to evolve or permanently be at risk of slipping back into the football wilderness.

So full on Red Bull for me now, let's get as tight and look to benefit as much as is humanly possible, now that may be a selfish position as I age, but we have to think differently, strategically, if we are to survive and more importantly prosper.

Classof92

1.) 09 Jun 2026 10:17:04
Interesting post, class. I'm not sure about Elland Rd. But, happy to share talent. Give them Harrison, Wober, Piroe, James, etc.

2.) 09 Jun 2026 13:36:12
The renaming of the stadium is inevitable. Within 4 years, I reckon.

Take the huge cash naming rights, but it will always be Elland Road to the fans.

3.) 09 Jun 2026 14:14:01
The RFU tried renaming their "home," the Allianz Stadium, but it's still Twickenham to all the fans.

4.) 09 Jun 2026 14:33:45
Well, we have to move with the times, we can't just poodle along. Like it or not, our budget cut to 80mill is not going to buy what we really need. We have to face the hard, blunt facts.

5.) 09 Jun 2026 15:23:08
When Lurpak were one of our sponsors a few years ago, some suggested calling it the Utterly Butterly Stadium.

6.) 09 Jun 2026 16:51:09
As Baz says, let them name it and get the cash. It will always be Elland Road to the fans who won't ever call it by a sponsor's name.

7.) 09 Jun 2026 17:53:37
That would have buttered fans up the wrong way, totally, JR16. ??

8.) 09 Jun 2026 18:49:56
Would anyone accept RB Leeds United name change if it meant home and European dominance?

9.) 09 Jun 2026 18:56:09
If we still had Leeds United in there, Corkey, then yes.

10.) 09 Jun 2026 20:03:50
RB Leeds United name all day, Corkey, if guaranteeing trophies. ?

Righteous Baz (RB) Leeds United sounds great.

11.) 09 Jun 2026 22:53:03
But not RB Elland Road. It would sound too much like Bell End Road for my liking.

12.) 10 Jun 2026 00:52:03
Lol Chris. ????

13.) 10 Jun 2026 13:09:49
Maybe, Ridiculous Baz?

14.) 10 Jun 2026 13:17:46
Red Bull do not own us, therefore, a change of club name etc is very unlikely as things stand. Stadium sponsorship is certainly likely. RB model no longer includes full takeovers of clubs, so unless that changes, it will never happen.

15.) 10 Jun 2026 14:17:13
Nah, let's settle Alfonzo on Reliable Baz.

And,

Stadium sponsorship is not just likely, it's inevitable.

16.) 10 Jun 2026 14:41:11
Here we go. From treading lightly on return to full tosser, I am 99.9% within weeks. Zzzzz.

30 May 2026 20:03:07
On a brighter note Football won the football.

Classof92

1.) 30 May 2026 20:16:29
Indeed Class.

2.) 30 May 2026 20:35:59
Arsenal averaged just over 2 passes a minute!

Be honest, who let out a little yelp when Gabriel missed?

3.) 30 May 2026 20:52:33
Me, can't stand Gabriel, such a whining, whinging player. Was surprised he was taking the 5th penalty, Arsenal bottlers.

4.) 30 May 2026 22:36:37
Would always prefer the English team to win, but agree regarding Gabriel as Opti says, and football winning as Class says.

5.) 31 May 2026 11:52:25
All the stats - possession, shots, xG, etc, say that PSG were much the better team, but how many times have we seen games where we've been in that position but ended up losing. Having taken it to a penalty shoot out, Arsenal were only two kicks away from winning. Such is football.

Won't be upset if KD stays, Baz, but I posed a serious question above: how many teams last season, including those relegated, is the respective keeper not considered stronger than Karl?

For me, he's an excellent back up keeper, although would have liked Dubravka instead, but Sunderland hit gold with Roefs last season, and history says keepers needn't be expensive.

I just believe we should look to improve the squad quality incrementally each season.

Good example, Wilson: higher goals and assists last season than our current midfielders.

As the mafia would say, it's not personal, it's just beesness!

Can't believe we're not aiming higher than KD for next season, he did ok, behind a very solid defensive line, but I wouldn't say he's better than any of the relegated keepers from last season.

If Peri is going or not, we still definitely need a new number one.

Lovely guy to have in the dressing room, but genuinely don't understand this signing. I'm sure it was not expensive, but he will likely never, ever play, and, for me, it would have been far better to snap up the best young keeper around for me.

Think he's a good player, noted him giving amps a good game for Wendies at ER, and thought at the time how he stood out then. Great engine and years to develop, and £20 million in the mad world of the EPL is a very reasonable sum given his age.

Hope it completes!

Brighton do really want him, Feath.

Spoke to my Brighton coaching mate yesterday, says they were in for him last season but we weren't ready. It's the fact that he's left footed and the relatively cheap price tag was the big draw, plus he is very keen on the move apparently.

He's been a great servant imo, but given contract situation we have to keep evolving. This is exactly what the likes of Brighton and Brentford do to continually evolve and grow.

My mate gutted about Van Hecke going though as he's worried that Dunk has lost any pace he had, Webster leaving after repeatedly being injured, and Pascal is certainly not the quickest defender.

What's that young player Baz is always going on about, Crosswill, Cresswith, Charlie, someone?

I know it's dangerous to go by World Cup performances, but Dominik Livakovic's heroics in goal (EUR6 million transfer value) show there are good keeper options out there, and, sadly, we seem incapable of finding a top keeper.

Terrible player on the pitch, but one of the most humble, very down-to-earth people off the pitch. A real Jekyll and Hyde character change.

Like Gruev, Cucurella, along with Dunk, are the players who gave the most back to the fans and community when at Brighton. He's had some horrendous family challenges with his children, but is unquestionably annoying, as you know what, on the pitch.
