According to reports, Spurs want between £10-15m for Rodon. Given he's entering the last year of his contract, I think an opening bid of £8m would be my preference. I think he's worth more but let's test Levy's resolve with a low end bid. He's happy here and his contract situation means he (and we) may have some leverage to push a deal through.

{Ed002's Note - They will say no and his fee will rise.}

1.) 13 Feb 2024 12:21:43
Levy is well known to get the price he asks for sadly. The structure of the deal is possibly the only Leeway we will have, or a player plus cash deal, which none of us will want!

2.) 13 Feb 2024 12:30:32
Levy always a f*cker to deal with.

Get promoted. Buy him.
Not promoted. No chance.
Great guy. Seems to love the club and players.
Fingers crossed.

Leeds apparently taking a shine to Flamengo CF Pedro (25 years old. 185cm)

Very impressive stats. He's scored 23 and assisted 9 in all comps this season. That's 32 goal involvements in 50 games. Impressive stuff. More impressive when you break down how much game time he's actually had in said games, as it works out at a goal involvement every 109 mins.

Appears to be your typical goal poacher in the box, scoring tap ins, reacting to loose balls, running channels for through balls and generally being a nuisance for defenders. He's also comfortable striking them from outside the box. Clinical. Close control is very good and he interlinks play well. He's the focal point of pretty much every attack. Can finish with both feet, too. Positionally aware, a physical presence, strong in the air and possesses a good turn of pace.

He appears to be your quintessential number 9 with most, if not all, of the attributes you'd like to see in one. Player I'd most liken him to would be a young Cavani. Very high praise.

There's talk of him heading to the world cup (already capped once in 2020) given his form, so this is one we may miss out on if we sit on our hands as the shop window will be well and truly open.

He had signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid back in 2019, but an ACL injury scuppered the deal, before he eventually moved to Fiorentina a year later. He would struggle for game time there making only 4 appearances. Now he appears to have grown exponentially as a player and would really add something special to our team should he come.

If we were willing to splash £35m on CDK, then this is a deal of similar value to me. Open the cheque book and get him signed before his valuation sky rockets.

Dillinger

1.) 08 Sep 2022 13:37:40
He sounds top notch but my only misgiving would be; if he is so good why not a starter for 11th placed Fiorentina. Surely they must see his exponential growth.
I hope you are right and he is a gem waiting to be found, we could do with another Raphina. Law of averages says that somewhere out there is some young lad, with it all, waiting to be discovered.

2.) 08 Sep 2022 14:20:51
He was still fairly inexperienced in general and no european experience back then. He's come on loads now. Plus they had Vlahovic and Chiesa back then.

Definitely appears ready for the pressure of a big league now.

3.) 08 Sep 2022 22:05:31
Isn't the window shut though?

4.) 09 Sep 2022 02:15:03
Yeah but pre contracts can be signed still.

Phil Hay hinting at a Cooper start on Monday against Forest.

"Liam Cooper was on the bench on Saturday.

"And having hinted beforehand that in his mind's eye, Cooper and Robin Koch were his ideal centre-back pairing, Marsch might find himself turning that way before Nottingham Forest tip up at Elland Road next Monday. ".

Leeds apparently taking a look at Coventy's Viktor Gyokeres (CF) .

He's someone I've touted a fair few times on this forum as being a great budget signing from the Championship.

He's someone I really think would compliment the team and would get better once with us. Bags of potential and very talented right now.

The lad is a Swedish international. He's a very strong and direct runner on the ball, has a knack for getting on the ball in the box, whether low or high crosses or reacting to loose balls. His interlinking play is an asset. He runs channels and breaks well and most of all he can finish.

I'd rather sign him over Hwang, considering the cost and potential upside. I see more potential in Gyokeres.

Dillinger

1.) 31 Aug 2022 17:28:08
Totally agree there Dilli, and I would get Gnoto too, just to make sure that any injury curse has a brick wall of strikers to get past!

2.) 31 Aug 2022 19:23:12
Apparently they want £9m for Gyokeres. definitely worth a punt. And yes, I'd take Gnoto too, but looking likely he'll come next summer on a free if we can sign a pre-contract.

3.) 01 Sep 2022 08:32:10
Having apparently missed out on Gakpo, let’s hope we can get a deal done for this guy before Southampton or anyone else snap him up.

Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall 2 at Leeds arena tonight.

Be class to see to see Catterall get that win he deserved. Expecting a good fight either way. Some genuine hatred between these two.

Interesting suggestions Dill

The AM/ CAM signing for me will be a very important one.

Coventry's O'Hare would want a higher league club than Champo .

4.) 19 May 2024 17:32:54
Tell yer what this EPL malarkey amf English football super easy for Sir Nostra Baz predictions

Citeh win league : check

Citeh win cups : check

Luton, Burnley, and Sheff U relegated; check

Leicester win Champo: check

Leeds in playoffs : check

Only the farmer transport surprised one.

5.) 19 May 2024 18:38:49
Baz There was one but only one not prediction as such but opinion you gave this season which was wildly wrong and I criticized you at the time. It was during a game and a live game chat. Do you remember whom it concerned? It was actually very funny ?.

6.) 19 May 2024 19:03:40
Leeds in the playoffs? Maybe I'm wrong, but I’m pretty sure you said mid table Bazza?

7.) 19 May 2024 19:37:03
Georgey, I think you may be alluding to earlier in season:

your sweetheart Cre " Jimmy Summerville being over rated.

Yes he turned out to be our top scorer this season, but this is slow Championship level defenders; he will get found out a tad in the EPL by the power, pace and strength of quite a few EPL defenders.

So 'wildly wrong'? no Georgey.

8.) 19 May 2024 19:41:25
Another excellent article, Dill. In fact, it's so good that I'm not going to lose sleep if we don't go up - providing of course, those in charge take your advice and recruit at least half of your suggestions. :)

9.) 19 May 2024 20:50:56
No Corky

at end of Summer window ( when all ins and outs
confirmed) so one knows who is in our squad for sure I stated Leeds United would finish 6th.

10.) 19 May 2024 20:59:23
Excellent article Dill and some names I hadn’t previously considered, whichever league we end up playing in I think there will be multiple changes.

11.) 19 May 2024 21:34:20
Baz Correct. You stated his issue is a "lack of end product". 3 minutes later he found the Robert McCall. It was at Carrow Road. Then went on to score the winner.

Disagree slightly on his future EPL experience. He's matured, will be playing alongside superior players in a superior playing style and system (not Marsch ball) and with the right coaching can learn how to outwit the top level defenders. He can become a 14 g/ a player in the EPL in George's opinion.

12.) 19 May 2024 21:52:46
This was your prediction Baz for the league in September.
Check, one result right Man City win league, that was a real tough guess, congrats fella ?
That big horn of yours does sound like a little fart! ?

25 Sep 2023 11:20:06
It will be interesting to see ( with next season perhaps) which 3 teams finish 15th, 16th. and 17th
I am going for
1st Citeh
2nd Liverpool
3rd Saudi Barcodes
4th Spuds
5th Gooners
6th Brighton
7th Vile
8th Hammers
9th Man U
10th Chelsea
11th Forest
12th Everton
13tb Fulham
14th Palace
15th. Brentford
16th Bournemouth
17th Wolves
18th Burnley
19th Blades
20th Luton.

13.) 19 May 2024 23:16:16
Fair enough Georgey re Jimmy in EFL

Time will tell re Jimmy at much higher EPL level.

14.) 19 May 2024 23:21:17
OP yep Citeh were a predictable shoe in for 1st

That was the point of the post

as were the bottom 3 a shoe in Burnley, Sheff U and Luton . albeit Luton did a bit better than expected . but still relegated.

15.) 20 May 2024 07:02:57
Cheers lads. All mentioned seem to be feasible transfers. So although I wouldn't be happy at EFL football again next season, it would soften the blow knowing there are players available - if our scouts have done their jobs properly - that could help us challenge again for little outlay.

16.) 20 May 2024 09:58:53
Ruell Walters just released from Arsenal would be another RB I'd be happy to see at the club, too. He was on my shortlist before I shortened it further. Having now left Arsenal it would make him more sought after given there's zero outlay for him.

15 May 2024 18:50:48
News from today regarding Summerville:

"TEAMtalk understands that Summerville will not look to force Leeds United's hand this summer by asking to leave in the event they fail to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The winger is extremely happy at Elland Road - where he is on a contract to 2026 - and would not look to rock the boat by trying to force a move elsewhere. "

I know some of you have assumed different because he's not in great form atm (no one is) , but I'm inclined to believe that he is enjoying his time at Leeds. This, although some can say it's paper talk, confirms my thoughts on Cry. He's Leeds so let's back him!

Dillinger

1.) 15 May 2024 20:35:29
Aha the naivety of young Dill.

If CS is still a Leeds player. next season, regardless of division Leeds are in, I will be uber surprised.

2.) 15 May 2024 21:52:06
Haha, I would too tbf, mate.

Guess my point was, for now he's still our best player and he needs to start tomorrow, so let's back him.

Until then let's leave out all the presumptive opinions about him checking out or saying things like "his heads been turned", when reality is everyone single player in the team has struggled with the pressure the last month or so. If he's said to the press he's dedicated to the cause, then hopefully he shows it tomorrow and fires us into the final!

3.) 15 May 2024 22:23:00
This isn’t the first time Cree has been quoted as saying this. He has actually himself, and thro his agent / management team, been making similar statements throughout the season. A departure if we do fail to gain promotion, might not be purely of his own doing. I’m 50:50 on the reliability of these quotes to be honest.

4.) 15 May 2024 23:38:23
Jimmy showing his class. What's virtually inevitable as well as transfer interest is club negotiations over the summer for an improved contract. 30 goal involvements over a season will not go unrewarded. The reward shall be greater if we are promoted and even more so if he scores tomorrow night and then again at Wembley.

5.) 16 May 2024 06:18:38
Good points, chaps.

Hopefully he finds his form again tonight and makes us all happy!

12 May 2024 09:13:12
7 days rest. Some team bonding midweek. All I ask is that the lads are UP FOR IT today! Win or draw, preferably a clean sheet, to set us up for the home leg.

Few tweaks I would hope for but not expected:

Roberts in at RB (can move Gray or Byram there later if Roberts can't last the 90, as if fit I think Roberts is our best RB)

Cooper in at LCB, meaning.

Ampadu in at 6 instead of Gruev, who's looked absent and easy to bypass recently.

Start Joseph. Not a fan of Piroe, not a fan of how he plays, not a fan of his unathleticism. I want someone dynamic and eager up front.

Everything else remains the same and hopefully the extra rest and team bonding has helped the squad.

Let's goooo!

Think we could identify a quality replacement for cheaper, too. Someone like Philogene, Nusa, Odobert, to name a few examples.

He's 100% right. Webber was a right tight b*stard and gave him pennies. Played some decent stuff in the Prem from game to game, but didn't have the quality to do it regularly. He will cook with some financial backing.

If we win the balls that get played into their CFs feet we can bypass that midfield of theirs as they commit runners from deeper. Plenty of early crosses as they find them hard to handle. And attack that left flank as Manning isn't great positionally. Think those are areas we can get the better of them from what I've seen in the games they lost.

I've been watching some Southampton games, in particular the games they conceded more in.

Some notes:

They're very fluid in transitional play, and tend to commit a lot of runners forward when they do so. Some of the goals they've conceded have come from the CBs being touch tight on their CFs and winning that first ball. With their players already committed to runs, it left space for the opposition to take advantage of.

With VAR in play, I think we can afford to play a higher line and for our CBs to play touch tight when marking. Key is to win those first balls and allow their runners to either run offside if they do win the ball or take them out of the game by winning the first ball. I feel like this is a key factor that will come into play Sunday as they do overcommit to attacks. If they do win the first ball it's generally a give and go or a flick, so playing the high line would help alleviate the pressure somewhat by the offside threat - which if VAR does it's job right - will call the offsides correctly.

They don't like early crosses. They've looked vulnerable to early crosses that force their defenders to turn and face goal. Sometimes it doesn't even have to be a good cross. Just make them turn and have to run back to goal to try intercept and there is opportunity as they don't defend them particularly well.

They are particularly vulnerable down their left hand side. A lot of the attacking play from opposition seemed to be down Saints left. They seem to be caught out of position a fair bit down that side, in particular Ryan Manning. He didn't start in the last game, which could be due to this - maybe not. If Bree plays in his place, as he has done on occassion this season - plays both full back roles - he also looks to be a weak link for them, as he's a bit of a ball watcher and wanderer.

TLDR: Id we play a higher line and press their attackers to stop balls to feet, we can take advantage of nullifying their runners from deeper by either winning the first or allowing them to venture offside. Plenty of early crosses to cause problems and attack their left flank relentlessly as it's vulnerable.

Dillinger
