Leeds linked with Hammarby's Jusef Erabi.

Erabi is someone I've seen only a couple of times while watching other players I like, but he's a proper powerful lad with intelligent, anticipatory movement in and around the box. Tenacious presser off the ball. Quality aerial threat and he's a good finisher (24% conversion rate this season. 23% is generally the marker considered as good) . Don't have more notes than that just yet. Money seems a tad overpriced for him atm, though. Would be more comfortable getting him for closer to £5m. Bright future though, for sure, and would be happy to have him at Leeds.

When do prem name their squads so we can see who we can get. I suggest they have every club on speed dial. Don’t faff around.

2.) 17 Aug 2024 10:02:46
They've given squad numbers out which generally infers who's going to be in the squad (barring those players asking for certain numbers) . After this weekend there will be more certainty. Usually not confirmed until day after the window shuts, so teams work on the basis of the squad numbers and who's picked for the squad on match days.

3.) 17 Aug 2024 21:11:30
Erabi scored again for Hammarby today. Worth keeping an eye on Bazoumana Toure as well. Goal and assist taking the 18 year old to 6g 2a for the season. Someone I'd also be scouting if we're already there watching Erabi. Another kid with a bright future from what little I've seen of him.

4.) 19 Aug 2024 06:30:26
I remember us signing a striker who was smashing it in the the Swedish leagues a few years back, was it Aaronson? (Not BA) . He was hopeless so forgive me for not thinking someone with 7 in 18 isn’t the answer for us.

5.) 19 Aug 2024 08:15:23
Rambo - You might be thinking of Cibicki?

6.) 19 Aug 2024 09:05:06
Sea Biscuit.

7.) 19 Aug 2024 09:27:47
Standards improved a fair bit since then, mate. Allsvenskan, Superliga and Eliteserien are quite competitve nowadays. See a lot of players heading to Belgium, Holland, Germany and France.

Granted the leagues aren't as good as other Euro leagues, but lots of young talent there that's getting game time and experience at a young age.

8.) 19 Aug 2024 09:32:24
Rambo - I reckon your thinking about Marcus Antonsson - went on to have a half decent time back in Sweden, with a standout season in 2022 with 20 goals in 30 games earning him a move to Saudi, where he lasted one season (6 goals in 16) before moving to Oz with Western Sydney for whom he’s got 8 goals and 4 assists in 28 games so far.

9.) 19 Aug 2024 09:37:19
Must have been Cibiki.

20 goals in 83 games in Allsvenskan before he signed for us, so not that great tbh.

10.) 19 Aug 2024 11:10:42
Looks like OP was right actually.

11.) 19 Aug 2024 13:09:17
Wasn’t it Antonson? Ended up going to Blackburn didn’t he? I recall he was a hard working industrious type forward, sadly was unable to score goals.

12.) 19 Aug 2024 17:26:15
Antonsson! That was him, think we paid close to £2m (possibly with Chris Wood money? ) and he wasn’t good! Worked hard but couldn’t score. Cibiki is another one tbf, I’d completely erased him from my memory! Apparently this linked fella’s club want €10m for him, think that would be a mistake even meeting them half way. He may well be decent but it’s a big risk judging players from these leagues.

13.) 19 Aug 2024 17:34:44
That’s be the one Cluey and Class!

14.) 19 Aug 2024 19:18:35
When I watch players, it's more about the player's attributes than what league they're in at a young age. got to determine their assets and their potential to progress. Can't beat getting regular game time at a young age wherever it is, and Scandi teams are great for blooding in young talent. Those leagues tend to be a talent pool Euro teams pick young players up from on a regular basis these days.

Victor Boniface - Leverkusen
Ernest Nuamah - Lyon
Gift Orban - Lyon
Faris Moumbagna - Marseille
Samuel Dahl - Roma
Hugo Larsson - Frankfurt
Lucas Bergvall - Spurs
Isak Hien - Atalanta

To name a handful who have ended up at big European teams in recent years.

Having said that, €10m is a lot for Erabi. Be more comfortable around €5m as he is talented but still raw. I do think he'd be capable of getting goals in the Champo. His profile is not like any striker we've had since probably someone like Viduka. This is not me saying he will be as good as Viduka, just that they share some similar traits (luckily not work ethic) . So for the right price, I'd be happy with the signing.

15.) 20 Aug 2024 16:58:38
Thanks for the info Dill. You really are a modern day Stato ?. Great job as usual pal.

Leeds looking to loan Owen Beck, LB from Liverpool.

Good shout, George.

Would be really happy with this one.

Telegraph reporting Leeds set to offer £7m for Jonathan Rowe. Would be happy with that. Great price and opportunity to damage a rival's first team.

Dillinger

1.) 05 Aug 2024 10:15:33
Contract is up next summer as well, so reports suggest we have the upper hand in negotiating a fee.

2.) 05 Aug 2024 11:57:19
Fingers crossed on that one. Think a few unobtainable add ons will be required to make it possible though!? ???.

3.) 05 Aug 2024 13:06:33
Initial offer knocked back, expected to return with higher offer. Some sources say £15m to get it done.

4.) 05 Aug 2024 13:40:42
Norwich will take us to the cleaners if we want him. A direct replacement for Summerville from a rival chasing us for promotion? That's going to cost us.

That said, just pay the toll. With Gnontos versatility we have a quality winger who can start, cover injury and be an impact sub.

Being able to play three different wingers in varying formations opens up a tactical edge for us. Combine that with MJ/ JP and Rutter upfront, backed by a defensive or offensive midfield and we will be looking solid.

Does Rowe fancy Leeds' chances of promotion of Norwich's? That's the question.

5.) 05 Aug 2024 13:57:15
Can see a deal being done for around £10.5M.

6.) 05 Aug 2024 17:44:11
Dill Wolves reportedly in for him.

7.) 05 Aug 2024 20:45:15
Ffs. Hopefully we can sell him on getting more first team opportunities.

8.) 06 Aug 2024 08:02:53
Dill Wolves may sell Neto in which case he'll get those opportunities there. If we want to get this done, probably best to move fast.

9.) 06 Aug 2024 09:31:59
Fast? Leeds? No comprehende.

10.) 06 Aug 2024 12:25:20
Clock's ticking ⏰️ get it sorted Leeds!

11.) 06 Aug 2024 14:21:54
asking £15m for Rowe so less than we got for SV (possibly) but like George says we may be able to do a deal for less.

23 Jul 2024 14:49:20
Posh chairman has hinted on Talk Sport that Leeds have had a bid accepted for LB Harriosn Burrows.

If he comes to Leeds that would be a massive kick in the stones for Sheff U it'd, who also had a bid accepted.

Massive yes from me. Here's a little report I wrote about Burrows back in June:

"The second Peterborough player on this list, Harrison Burrows would have been available on a free had Posh not exercised their right to a one year contract extension on him. Burrows has a wand of a left peg and he's a proactive left back who enjoys breaking and getting play moving forward. His prudent crossing ability is inviting for attackers and this signing would alleviate some of the fan's that, in hindsight, bemoaned us losing Leif Davis. Burrows has 12 goals and 17 assists in all comps. Defensively he's shown intelligence in his positional sense, managing to block the more direct passing lanes and intercept dangerous balls. His tackling ranks him in the top 80th percentile and he has won 49% of his ground duels this season, which are both respectable numbers for a full back. Suffice to say, Burrows can play both sides of the role. With 12 months left on his contract it's believed £3m would secure his services. "

Great statement of intent if this is true and always good to damage a promotion rival's chances.

1.) 23 Jul 2024 15:27:07
Leeds Live now reporting that our interest in him and Szmodics is "wide of the mark".

2.) 23 Jul 2024 17:56:43
Hope so. I do think he's a decent player, but just wouldn't be a good fit unless we changed our attacking formation. We shouldn't need to if we keep Cry and Georgi.

3.) 23 Jul 2024 18:12:15
Dill,

What would be the best options if we lose Prince and or Willy?

4.) 23 Jul 2024 19:11:47
I really like Rafik Guitane as an inverted winger on the right. Shades of Mahrez about him. Currently at Estoril.

Wrote about Guitane in June:

Guitane has drawn comparisons in his play to Riyad Mahrez from well regarded scouts and plenty of Algerian fans on social media. The inverted right winger has a majestic touch, is press resistant and a cracking dribbler with an innate ability to beat a man in one on one duels. To create openings, he's certainly more inclined to isolate then dribble at the opposition rather than try find a pass, although he does have a solid range of passing. The Algerian international is being looked at by some of Europe's bigger clubs, but a move to Leeds would provide a step up from Estoril, while offering him far more opportunity for regular first team football than becoming a bit-part player in a higher league. Buying Guitane would certainly add a constant threat down our right hand side, and I'm a fan of having an inverted option along with having a natural right-footed right winger in the squad, too. Would give us different looks and impact from the bench having both options available. Guitane's Transfermarkt value is a nominal £3.4m.

I think the obvious ones to potentially replace Cry would be would be Jonathan Rowe or Jack Clarke. I like Alan Minda from Cercle Brugge as well. Plus he's versatile for either wing.

Did a little write up about Minda in June, too:

Minda has shown impressive vertical running, with an innate ability to glide past opponents when he's facing the goal. The directness in his dribbling gives defenders fits. An incisive winger who creates a lot of opportunity for himself and his teammates, he'd be a steal if a deal could be struck with Cercle Brugge. Operating primarily as a right winger, Minda is a versatile asset who can play either wing with relative ease. Personally, I prefer him as an inverted left winger driving into the box as he has the ability to take on fullbacks on the outside or inside, often causing them commitment issues with challenging. Transfermarkt value £3.4m.

Both Guitane and Minda are cut-price choices as well so wouldn't break the bank. I wasn't sure how much money we'd have this summer so looked at these as cheaper options just in case.

5.) 23 Jul 2024 19:31:51
I like the look of Harrison Burrows but it looks like Sheffield United have won the race, if Leeds wanted him then why didn't they put in a bid earlier.

6.) 23 Jul 2024 19:54:04
Playing Devil's advocate here now Dill, the same attacking formation that fell apart when needed most last Seez Dill?

We won't get Smozdics but surely if we did he would have to be an improvement on anything we have in midfield, he was a revelation last seez.

7.) 23 Jul 2024 20:18:54
I read that statement of yours Dill about Harrison and everything you said was spot on about him, even to the point of saying Leeds should go full on for him and again you were right, it now looks like we are hijacking the blunts and their bid! I really like him as I looked at him when you posted about him in June, maybe the powers that be do read your posts Dill, I just hope your scouting fee cheque is the post! lol great post though mate ????.

8.) 23 Jul 2024 21:53:51
Haha touche, Chris. Think that's why we're seeing DF experiment with the 343/ 3421 this pre season. Gives us different looks and allows guys like Cry and Rutter a more free role in the half spaces where they excel.

Szmodics played the false 9 role last season for Blackburn, but always had Dolan or Gallagher up there with him and the three tended to rotate between each other. Blackburn were fundamentally a 'soak up pressure and counter team' last season as well, which we aren't, although we are great when in transition.

One issue I have is he's not really a midfielder and he's not really a striker. Although he is a cracking goalscorer. I mentioned before about last season being a bit serendipitous for him, because Blackburn played to his strengths and he took full advantage of it.

I do think he's a decent player, but where do you shoe horn him in if you don't play those two number 10s behind an attacker? He's not going to be the CF as he's not a focal point and is considerably worse with his back to goal. He does his best work centrally, so the wing is out of the question. Fwiw I'd much rather have him than Piroe. But since we already have Piroe I'd rather not have Szmodics as well. Especially nit for north of £10m when he's turning 29 in September.

Just think it would be hard to replicate even half that success he had at Blackburn without fundamentally changing how we played.

9.) 23 Jul 2024 21:56:05
Holding out hope that we are actually hijacking the deal Woody, mate. Still no word of Burrows' medical being completed after it was supposedly booked the other day. Fingers crossed we can do something and stick it to Wilder again.

10.) 24 Jul 2024 06:25:40
Any updates on the above. Would like to outdo sheff.

11.) 24 Jul 2024 08:21:31
Wildet said last night that should hear something about Burrows in the next 24-48 hours. Seems to be going on forever this medical. Makes me think there is something else going on that's interfering.

12.) 24 Jul 2024 08:44:02
Hopefully we are the fly in the ointment.

13.) 24 Jul 2024 12:30:23
Reportedly Burrows is now at Bramall Lane undergoing his medical.

14.) 24 Jul 2024 13:19:39
Burrows bye bye Dill
Blades paid out.

15.) 24 Jul 2024 14:34:20
Great! not!

16.) 24 Jul 2024 17:02:04
Damn ?

I've been watching another lad who I had on my shortlist for EFL signings article I wrote earlier in the summer. Spent last season in League 1 as well. I think he would be a good signing as LB/ LWB. going to do a little write up in the next few days.

I preferred Burrows for that, but I think he'd still be a cracking little signing.

17.) 25 Jul 2024 03:53:06
Not seen official signing report yet?

18.) 25 Jul 2024 05:37:24
Was in sbeff for medical yesterday. Think it's pretty much done now, Aus ?.

18 Jul 2024 22:02:11
Twitter journo is reporting Kristensen deal is done. Season long loan with option to buy. Price set at £15m.

Hope he has a good season there so we get that ?.

Dillinger

1.) 19 Jul 2024 07:02:12
It's a shame it wasn't an obligation to buy. I remember roma trying to negotiate the fee at the end of the loan even though he's had a good season for them. Hopefully though, this means we can get a decent RB in now.

2.) 19 Jul 2024 07:34:50
Yh would've been better mate.

3.) 19 Jul 2024 10:08:36

The floodgates are opening! After Joseph scored last week, he's scored again tonight for Spain u21. Brilliant movement in the box once again. Lovely finish. Defenders finding it really hard to track him in the box. His anticipatory skills are top notch. He so good at finding the space or beating a defender to the ball. A quality CF trait.

Dillinger

1.) 06 Sep 2024 22:33:20
Sounds promising.

2.) 07 Sep 2024 06:47:09
Let’s hope so dill.

3.) 07 Sep 2024 08:25:14
It was another lovely finish!

4.) 07 Sep 2024 17:15:37
Great to see.

5.) 07 Sep 2024 22:25:22
Impressive stuff from him!

6.) 08 Sep 2024 20:13:31
Hope we go up this season as he's another that may go for silly money.

Rodon just missed a sitter from a set piece in the Wales game. Man is allergic to scoring.

Karma for going mad at Arranson for missing the goal at the end of the Plymouth game?

3.) 07 Sep 2024 22:26:50
He won't know what to do if he finally breaks his duck for us!

4.) 08 Sep 2024 07:08:26

Scotland ?.

Scotland defence soft underbelly . bring back Coops.

3.) 06 Sep 2024 05:01:25
Heading to CSKA Sofia. Bit of a random one for Coops is that.

4.) 06 Sep 2024 07:54:17
Yeah. Surprised me too dill. Won’t be able to get mushy peas over there.

5.) 06 Sep 2024 08:24:38
Berbatov and Petrov recco’d it to him, and him to the club.
CSKA are not what they were, and are struggling, partic this season.
It’s also a great, principled country, and a secure environment for him to bring his kids up. Think the Bulgarian Whites would all make the trip to Sofia to support him too.

6.) 06 Sep 2024 10:12:00
Funny old game football. Berb and petrov recommend coops. That’s a big footballing family out there.

7.) 06 Sep 2024 12:51:22
Haha, that's mental that.

03 Sep 2024 20:17:47
Just watching a player named Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer. I don't even care if he's crap, should sign him on that name alone ? (although he's actually pretty good fwiw)

Elite name that, though.

Dillinger

1.) 03 Sep 2024 22:07:50
Was going to say he is really good not as good as name sake and not what we need but good player.

2.) 03 Sep 2024 22:10:56
Hmmm wayyyy too overly long

I suppose RYK is ok

. but far better just the iconic Yeboah name

Is he a striker Dill?

3.) 03 Sep 2024 23:22:54
Inside forward baz.

4.) 04 Sep 2024 03:41:57
When he plays for Ghana they eponymously call him Yeboah. Plays anywhere on the front line, but has been starting at CF this season and has seen some great returns.

He's very pacey, intelligent off the ball movement, strong vertical runner, confident running at defenders, composed finisher (60% conversion rate this season) who is comfortable shooting with either foot. Has scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 438 minutes so far this season. A goal involvement every 87 minutes!

He's someone I think is going to have a breakout season, so I'll be watching more of him before January. Possibly someone we should be interested in. I do like the look of him so far.

5.) 04 Sep 2024 04:01:01
Should say mononymously, rather than eponymously. As it is his actual name.

6.) 04 Sep 2024 04:34:27
Good posts Dill and good info on the new Mr Yeboah.

How much do you think his transfer fee might be?

£8 million?

7.) 04 Sep 2024 06:11:09
I need to read into that and see what I can find, mate. My first time watching him yesterday. He's from 2. Bundesliga so would imagine it's reasonable.

8.) 04 Sep 2024 07:01:46
Dill Even I knew about this guy. Could develop into decent player.

9.) 04 Sep 2024 07:34:14
Looks like it, mate. Ahead of the curve, George, haha. definitely going to be watching him more as he has a lot of potential.

03 Sep 2024 10:53:42
Danny Murphy doing a great job as a pundit ?

When asked if Rutter is worth the fee Brighton have shelled out to add him to their forward line, Murphy said: "No. That's a hell of a lot of money for someone that was on the Leeds bench a lot. "

Rutter played 4210 mins last season. Started 44 of 45 league games, along with starting all three of our play off games.

Stealing a living some pundits ?.

Dillinger

1.) 03 Sep 2024 11:21:11
Lol Clu . indeed.

2.) 03 Sep 2024 11:21:22
Dill even lol.

3.) 03 Sep 2024 11:38:38
Danny Murphy obviously not up to speed with Leeds Utd, he’d be correct when we were in the Premiership but not with last season.

On Rutter, his got a tough job to take Minteh’s position, took Rutter a whole season to adapt at Leeds, wonder if that’ll be the same at Brighton?
He’s a player with great potential and did great for us last season, a lot of assists but not enough goals and that was in the Championship. Can he make the step up and add goals to his talents is the question?

4.) 03 Sep 2024 11:42:10
Just to elaborate on pundits/ commentators. Who are your faves and ones you dislike?

Think they tend to range between boring, annoying or useless atm. Murphy, Dixon, Souness, Redknapp, Savage, Morrison, Jenas (formerly) and then you have Michael Owen, who's in a league unto himself.

I really like Ally McCoist and always enjoy when he's doing a game.

5.) 03 Sep 2024 12:08:21
Deffo a tough task, OP. Brighton look very good so far this season. If he's good enough, he'll get the game time. Up to Georgi now to show what he can do and try make the manager pick him.

6.) 03 Sep 2024 13:02:04
I really like mccosit and controversially I love Gary nevell but hate rot Keane and rot wasn’t a typo

Regarding Summerville and rutter both have hard job but they are talented and was right to make the move sadly.

7.) 03 Sep 2024 13:41:18
I really quite like Troy Deeney - Brummie sense of humour but does seem to know what he's talking about. Rob Green is often on the radio and he also makes some very sensible comments and observations.

One thing which annoyed me the other week was watching the women's international - all female panel both at the ground and in the studio. Can't have that at a men's international, has to be a token female somewhere in mix.

If it were the other way round there would have been an outcry of sexism!

8.) 03 Sep 2024 14:43:16
I've heard Troy Deeney and he does seem to know his stuff, Cleggy. It's just the dull Brummie accent I can't deal with ?.

9.) 03 Sep 2024 15:21:54
Favourite pundit is to back the courage of your convictions.

10.) 03 Sep 2024 16:57:54
I enjoy listening to Steven Warnock and Gary Neville [though despised him as a player]. Really don't like Keane or Carra. Micah talks tosh, but doesn't take himself to seriously and on the whole is a good watch / laugh, especially in those MOTD top 10's.

By chance, I sat next Gary Neville at a James concert in the spring; he was a good sport, interesting to chat to and had the patience of a saint tolerating the never ending selfie requests; there really is something rather unsavoury with middle-aged men wanting selfies with other. middle aged men!

I wouldn't let Gary have one with me!

11.) 03 Sep 2024 17:25:28
I dislike all pundits, they would do better finding a different job after their football careers instead of trying to feed their already overgrown ego’s.
There’s far too many of them also, spouting their boring ill resourced opinions to the public.
They make me ?
Instead of only embellishing their already over embellished ego’s, they could try to help more in the grass roots of football maybe!
I know some do but they are just a handful compared to the vast majority.

12.) 03 Sep 2024 18:19:01
I'm with you on those names, Ani. Although I do like Keane shooting everything down. Gives me a chuckle as he's so blunt.

Haha, fair dos, OP. Plenty of bad ones about, that's for sure ?.

13.) 03 Sep 2024 19:41:18
He’s not a pundit as such but Simon Jordan is a great listen.
Pundit wise Souness and Danny Murphy the best.
Shearer Carragher and Alex Scott get on my tits.

14.) 03 Sep 2024 21:36:40
Great question about pundits and all of the above are great, but there’s one stand out 100% dick head who is a arrogant, uneducated and a constant show off and that is the man himself Daniel Sturridge, watch Roy Keane’s facial expressions when he works with him. He sang a song pitch side once, he talks shite and dresses like a knobhead, he makes me cringe! Anyone agree? Only my opinion though guys ??.

15.) 04 Sep 2024 00:13:31
I’m with you there Woody!

My biggest worry is that Kyle Walker is getting into punditry and this is his path after his playing days are up. Now there’s a guy with about a 100 word vocabulary who awful to listen to.

16.) 04 Sep 2024 08:29:01
Garth Crooks was favourite past commentator. Andy Gray too, as he revolutionised the role. The current crop except maybe Souness and Keane, who are straight talking, are garbage imo, and I can’t stand listening to any of em. They all have biases, but unlike Keane, pretend not to. (LUTV commentators aside of course)

?? no chance. He's quality. Can be a bit lightweight at times but he's a really technical baller. Was labelled the new Modric a couple years back, but a big move's still not come off for him yet. Arsenal have shown interest in the past iirc.

He looked lively that first game. Gave Coyle a load of problems, where he resorted to trying to foul him for the most part. He stays fit and we've got a gem for this league.

That journo that reported it is a charlatan. Would take it with a bucket load of salt.
