Wouldn't surprise me if they've reevaluated what else we need and are now missing out on Brandt. £40/45m on a keeper is a stretch.

That info has been removed, and all points to the deal being on, and the likely delay is due to Trafford being on a FIFA-mandated post-World Cup holiday that runs until after August 8.

They've got Donarumma, Charles (out on loan at QPR) , and Bettinelli, who's 34, only made 7 PL starts years ago, and hasn't had a match for 5 years. They certainly need another one as second choice.

Their A team is better than our A team. Not sure if any of you expected to win that, but I was quietly expecting 3 or 4 nil. We didn't play well after our second goal, and they did. It's a cup game, so I don't give a hoot. Think all their goals were well taken.
Don't think it was a penalty, so they got a slice of luck. The only person I would criticize is Longstaff. He is a shadow of his pre-season form. More important, fish to fry at the weekend. That's a game I'm quietly confident of winning.

I agree on Longstaff, Aus. On occasions, he was far too slow on the ball. It was a poor game for him, but I believe he looked good in the pre season matches. The shot he had on goal probably was not that easy, but he should have done better.
He did affect some matches last season coming from the bench.
Farke made eight changes, and to be fair, they did really well considering the amount of game time they've had so far.
It was evident when Chelsea made all their changes, we did look more vulnerable.
But I can understand Farke giving the lads more time in the second half. They earned it, and it will be good for them to have more minutes on the pitch for our league games.
We had Arsenal in the League Cup last season in this round and Chelsea away this season. A kinder draw would have been appreciated, at least a home draw ffs.
My eyes are now focused on a more important game against Newcastle. Can't wait.

Chelsea literally brought on £300M+ of talent at half-time; this is how distorted the "big 6" v the rest.
Several have said it: best 11 v best 11, it's a different game; we probably win 4 times out of 10.
I went into the game not expecting a win, but concede it was hugely disappointing after going two up.
Some of the goals were freakish; how many pairs of legs can a ball travel?
I'm not convinced by either team's performance, and both managers should be concerned. Still, I think we are more likely to achieve our goals this season. All relative, of course.

Even if he gets 12 for Burnley, it's only in the Champo. The chances of him, now in his 40th year, being able to score that many in the Prem are slim to none, which is why no other EPL team thought to sign him on.
We may have a problem, but Jamie Vardy is not the answer, and neither are any of the other current free agents.

I actually can't believe it. Despite a clear, obvious, and focused plan on how to drive the team forward, somebody is having a massive panic and wanting to sign Vardy. Have you honestly not seen anything over the last month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months? There is a plan, the plan is in place, and we are getting stronger and stronger with each passing window.
Vardy or any other ridiculous Hail Mary is a ludicrous move that could jeopardise the whole project. Relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy the quality football we are delivering. If we had 350m, we could do it in one window, but we have 20% of that, so we need to do it across 4 or 5 successful windows.
