Why/how did the club drop the ball with Darlow?
Most professional footballers want to see what their options are at the end of the contract, and having game time just put him in the shop window even more. It wasn't anything to do with GK status; it was all about the money.
It was his last contract, so who can blame him.
He did exactly the job we wanted of him when we signed him, and now we buy better moving forward. Perri out is the move we needed, as he was rank tbf.

A great 5 years of goals and assists for a winger at LUFC 2018 to 2023, with the great Marcelo getting the very best out of him.
Badly messed around by the 49ers co-owners at the time, recalling him from a medical and allowing him to sign for Leicester for £25 million in 2023.
In hindsight, a very woeful, costly decision by the 49ers.

Jack, (with his Mam's help) lost all credibility with his kissing the Everton badge and wanting to stay at a big club. How did he think that would work out on his return!
Marcelo got the best out of him, like many others, and Jack's fitness was his biggest attribute at the time.
I think this is an ideal move for both parties, and helps remove that unfortunate legacy, when a bunch of players were led by money, not loyalty.
I know, if I had family, I would have possibly done the same, but what goes around comes around, Jackie boy.

He did do well for us under Bielsa and will be remembered as well for that winning goal at Brentford. The season after, despite us going down, he contributed again. The big issue was the contract he was given, that was a millstone for the Club when relegated.
So, it suited us to offload him to Everton to get some of his wages off the bill. It would have been better for us and him if they had bought him, but, understandably, they didn't, as his form really dipped in his second season there.
Having to return last season was not ideal for either party, and was never going to work out. So, this transfer finishes the chapter and is better for all concerned. I wish him well, and will remember his contribution in those exciting first three years under Marcelo.

Always ran down blind alleys, and often gave the ball away. Not a naturally talented player, he had to work very hard to even be mediocre.
Probably just gave up in the end. He'll try and grind out a wage packet in America and retire in the knowledge he made a lot of money from something he was not very good at. Anything else is just sympathetic apologies for him.

He was also very good in seasons 21/22, instrumental in saving Leeds United from relegation, and 22/23.

Blame Leeds owners for the situation of the past few seasons since. They should have accepted Leicester's £25 million for JH.

Arsenal will have a very big chance of winning a domestic trophy, so it will be more than a couple of games.

Also, and most importantly, he will be working alongside Raya and their goalkeeping coach, which I'm certain will be an invaluable experience for a still relatively young keeper.
There is still a very good keeper in Meslier who has not been handled well by our club. He has now an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong.

Mes was thrown in the deep end far too soon. The club has badly mismanaged his development; they made a very young, good keeper with a lot of potential into one that ended up having his confidence torn apart, then tossed aside.
In my opinion, his development was wasted at Leeds.
He should have been a student of a good quality number 1 with plenty of experience. We probably couldn't afford that in the Championship. Stories of him saying he would never be back up keeper are baseless, and only feed into the narrative that everyone wants to believe.

Spurs' income 24/25 was £565m:

Our income was £137m. TV was 47, match receipts 32, and commercial 58. Admittedly, we were in the Championship, but if we'd been in the PL, only the TV would be similar. Our match receipts and commercial would be far less.
At a guess, if we were both in the PL that season, with UEFA income excluded, our income would be somewhere around 50% of Spurs' figure.
The difference is the commercial income. Spurs' ground has become a major venue for sporting events (NFL) and concerts. Last year, they had 16, which generated about £60m income. This coming year, the council, Haringey, will allow up to 30, which is going to add another £50m plus to the coffers - £110m plus in total. It makes money, but it winds the supporters up.

Spurs' debt is irrelevant to the new SCR rules. All that matters is their revenue (sales income) . This will be in the region of £550-£600m. The rules allow them to spend up to 85% of this on player costs & manager salary (they are at the 85% level, as they're not in UEFA competition next year) without any penalty.
That means spending of between £468m and £510m on player and manager costs. Compare that to Leeds, who will have between £200 to £250m revenue, so will have between £170m and £213m to spend on player and manager costs. That's how the rules work. Don't shoot the messenger.

The owners of Spurs have been criticised for several seasons for not pumping money into the club, but they have built a new high-capacity stadium.
As mentioned earlier by Yorker, the debt doesn't matter. What is important is the size of your ground, how much you charge for season tickets, where you finish in the league (which might mean European competitions) , and your ability to generate income from commercial sources such as concerts, sponsorship, etc.
Spurs may have debt, but they generate income.
We're probably somewhere on a par with Brighton, but way ahead of Bournemouth.
The trick is to manage to stay in the PL for a few seasons, improve the commercial side, develop your ground, increase capacity, and be good at buying and selling. The three B's are adept at that - Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford. Those three have good data analyst departments.
