Leeds have talked with Norwegian GK Ørjan Nyland who impressed at the WC for a number 2.
1.) 25 Jul 2026 10:50:27
End of his career and a good second string for us, but think he'd want to be number 1.
11 Jul 2026 12:11:20
Linked to Ruben Vargas, Swiss right footed LW at Sevilla. Was available in January for under ten million and we were sniffing. Step up from Okafor.
1.) 11 Jul 2026 14:10:06
Who says he's a step up from Okafor? By my observation of him, I'd rate him as good but no better.
2.) 11 Jul 2026 14:14:52
Prefer large.
3.) 11 Jul 2026 14:57:03
Love Okafor, but always injured or not able to complete 90mins. Vargas is really steady and reliable, but feel we have other priorities first.
4.) 11 Jul 2026 15:33:54
Aus,
..Issue is, will Farke give Largie a chance at Leeds United.
5.) 11 Jul 2026 21:13:16
I hope he does, because he did well in the Championship and I think he can do the same in the Premier League. He's never going to be the best defender in the league, but he does offer something going forward and would add something as a squad player.
6.) 11 Jul 2026 21:19:47
Fully agree, Dune.
7.) 12 Jul 2026 14:22:28
1000% Dune.

Club were very hopeful on Trafford BUT have moved closer to Suzuki now.
New manager at City may have changed Trafford's direction as he loves a GK who can play with their feet and that is not Donnarumma.
1.) 01 Jul 2026 15:29:34
Stories that Everton are now interested in Darlow as well as Manchester United. If Alf is right and he's not demanding to be no.1 but wants a wage increase, then he'll wait for the offers, play clubs off against each other, and probably get what he wants. That's fair enough - he's towards the end of his career and wants to make as much as possible. This should have been sorted much earlier.
What concerns me is we are not good at dealing with players' contracts. We don't tie players down when we should, those we do we often overpay, we agree to ridiculous relegation clauses, which means we may have to loan them out, and we often underprice them when they are sold or we hang on and their value goes down. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we do make some bad decisions.
2.) 01 Jul 2026 20:58:33
I think Darlow has been told that we can't guarantee him the #1 jersey, and that's why this has stalled. By many accounts, we have agreed personal terms with Suzuki, and will be bidding £30m in the coming days.
3.) 01 Jul 2026 22:42:03
But the others in for him will not guarantee No.1 status, so it will come down to money.
4.) 02 Jul 2026 07:49:46
Agreed, Dunelm!
19 Jun 2026 08:45:45
Harry Wilson and Julian Brandt close to signing.
WACCOE ITK source 1.
1.) 19 Jun 2026 09:44:07
Yep, Wilson announced next 48 hours.
Maybe the fella who shouted me down with four paragraphs when I said he was announced this week will think next time.
2.) 19 Jun 2026 10:36:22
TLI, he probably won't!
3.) 19 Jun 2026 10:37:36
We are in for Brandt, but plenty of other interest at the moment. By no means a done deal just yet, but we can hope!
4.) 19 Jun 2026 11:06:22
And any idea..
What is the weekly salary Leeds United have supposedly offered Harry Wilson, ITKers?
100k plus a week?
5.) 19 Jun 2026 12:12:53
Roma seem to think Brandt is going to them, we shall see.
6.) 19 Jun 2026 12:36:49
Brandt has agreed terms with Leeds, just if anyone can match them, but he'd be our top earner.
And, yeah, Wilson is on just over £100k p/w.
Using no transfer fees to pay bigger wages.
7.) 19 Jun 2026 13:08:37
You either pay higher wages, give a significant signing on fee, or both, if they're free transfers. Josh Brownhill was, allegedly, looking for a small increase in wages, but a £15m signing on fee a year ago. In the end, he went to Saudi, and probably got what he wanted.
Hopefully, Wilson does come, and Brandt could be the answer to the No 10 spot. He'd agreed last summer that this would be his last season. He has played on a regular basis over his career, with few injuries, and last season had a goal every four games - he played about 40.
8.) 19 Jun 2026 16:18:31
Bet 365 has suspended betting on Wilson to Leeds, as activity increased this morning and odds moved to 3/1 on.
9.) 19 Jun 2026 18:06:25
Said from the beginning, I believed there was only a slim chance Leeds United would sign Wilson. I'd still be a tad surprised if he does opt for Leeds. I guess the alleged £100k-plus-a-week talks.
10.) 19 Jun 2026 19:26:27
£5m a year over four years is probably what his transfer value is, but we don't have to pay wages, say £50k per week, on top. It saves us £10m on the deal. I'd take that.
11.) 19 Jun 2026 20:21:32
Personally, I can't see us signing both, but who knows?
We could do with decreasing the squad age, not increasing it. However, in saying that, I'd be more than happy for both to sign.
12.) 19 Jun 2026 20:32:09
DCL is on £5M pa, so a marquee signing would likely demand nothing less, but with no transfer fee on top that's not too bad. Brandt is valued at £15M and Wilson at £25M, so if we had to pay those amounts too, the costs would more than double.
13.) 20 Jun 2026 07:27:15
We reportedly have first refusal on Brandt; it would be two great signings!
14.) 20 Jun 2026 07:28:56
Baz, it's reported that Wilson is on £90k a week at Fulham.
Brandt is on around 140 weekly at Dortmund, with bonuses included.
{Ed001's Note - you know Brandt was Klopp's first choice the year Liverpool signed Salah. It was only after he turned down the move that the stats guys persuaded Klopp to look at Salah.}
15.) 20 Jun 2026 09:07:25
I think you might be right about Brandt's salary, which is one of the reasons that Dortmund have not made a contract offer. The new regime want a leaner wage structure.
Re Wilson, the general consensus is that he's on around £50k per week, and Villa have indicated they'll be prepared to double it.
16.) 20 Jun 2026 10:02:55
Reading that post, Dunelm, re Wilson's current salary. Almost shed a tear. It must be so hard being on 50k£ a week. What with fuel prices and cost of living going up. Maybe we should start a go fund site for our players.
17.) 20 Jun 2026 10:59:22
Too right Aus. When I retired 17 years ago, I'd never been on over £50K per year, never mind per week. I like Erling Haarland, but £45.5M per year for him is obscene. A salary cap is long overdue, say £100M per 1st team squad per year, which would still work out at £4M each on average.
It would also put a stop to the big clubs luring players with a promise to double or treble their salaries. Not going to hold my breath tho.
18.) 20 Jun 2026 12:29:52
Agree with you both, Aus and JR, that it is obscene. Not like the 50's and 60's, when they retired and opened a newsagents or a fish and chip shop. It won't change, particularly in England, because the TV rights are so lucrative and the PL teams are filling the stadiums at sometimes extortionate prices.
Some of the European leagues, like the French, are finding it more difficult as the TV money is dropping, but the world wants to watch the PL. It would be great for some sense of realism regarding salaries, but it ain't going to happen here unless the TV money dries up.
19.) 20 Jun 2026 12:53:31
Dave, I thought I'd read Wilson was on 50-60K per week at Fulham.
20.) 20 Jun 2026 13:01:41
Yes, CW, he is on about £50k per week. Not one of the highest earners. Leno is on more than double that to put it into context.

Wages off the books is what we needed.
The whole Harrison saga has been one long mess. A new contract, and the mess of that move to Leicester, and then Marsch playing him as an inverted RW, messed him up. He has gone downhill ever since.
8 G and 8 A in a PL season and a 20 million value. Dreadful management by the club. Meslier is similar, and no sell on for Summerville, too.
Thankfully we now have owners with their heads screwed on.
27 Jul 2026 03:18:09
Why/how did the club drop the ball with Darlow?
Most professional footballers want to see what their options are at the end of the contract, and having game time just put him in the shop window even more. It wasn't anything to do with GK status; it was all about the money.
It was his last contract, so who can blame him.
He did exactly the job we wanted of him when we signed him, and now we buy better moving forward. Perri out is the move we needed, as he was rank tbf.
25 Jul 2026 00:51:40
Trafford deal is done. WACCOE ITKs.
22 Jul 2026 07:59:39
Very close to Trafford now.
Will need another GK too for when Perri leaves.
20 Jul 2026 01:27:07
Wanted to go to Spain as his partner has a home there. But the top clubs are not interested, and the rest haven't got the kind of wages to offer.
100K a week is 16 million or so over a 3-year contract, so hardly unaffordable. Probably have a signing fee on top, and have to accept little or no resale value.
Most clubs, other than the elite, are always looking at how they can add value to a player when they sign them now, so likely an additional off-putting reason. Be a great signing even for a year.
