Big Signing Incoming?

The feeling around the ITK guys on WACCOE is that no news is leaking at the moment suggesting something interesting is happening in the background.

FrogusMaximus

1.) 20 Aug 2026 04:01:47
Please please please let it be a striker.

2.) 20 Aug 2026 05:45:25
Would love to see Harvey Elliott through on a loan with option to buy, striker in, lb coverage and back up gk.

3.) 20 Aug 2026 06:54:48
They are holding money back for the end of the window; there's going to be a huge scramble for clubs at the end of the window this year, if you look at who has spent money and who hasn't.

Villa, Sunderland, Forest, Palace have all spent very modest amounts so far, and then you have Spurs spending a load of cash. Clubs are awaiting domino's to fall before pouncing.

4.) 20 Aug 2026 07:14:54
Much as I like Harvey Elliott, another midfielder is not our key priority right now. If we are planning another big signing, then, as Aus says, "please please please let it be a striker." Candidates include Flemming, Demirovic, Parrott, or others the rumour mill has not heard of yet.

5.) 20 Aug 2026 07:45:52
Flemming, 28 years old and only one season in the PL, Burnley will likely want north of 15m. Too expensive in my opinion and no better than Nmecha.

Demirovic, again 28 years old, I would certainly prefer him to Flemming as an option, but once again would command a large fee, probably between 15-20m. Would he be happy playing second fiddle to DCL? I'm not sure he would.

Parrott - has already been confirmed at Real Betis for 17m.

In my opinion, we need to identify a striker aged between 21 and 24 years of age, who is of a good stature (over 6ft) , is promising, and can make an impression when called upon, but will initially be behind DCL and competing with Nmecha for that second striker role. Think a player such as Jovon Mkama - a big, tall, burly striker with loads of development to do, but could do a job if called upon.

6.) 20 Aug 2026 08:11:29
Sorry, Waccoe, but I don't agree on the striker recruitment. In this second season, we need someone who can do it now, not be developed. If we sold Nmecha, then a project could fill that role, but we need two proven strikers.
DCL is one, and for the other, I'd take Fleming without any second thoughts.

He did well last season in a poor team, has continued in the same vein this season, and can play in a deeper role if required. Demirovic has a good pedigree, but he hasn't done it in England.

7.) 20 Aug 2026 08:28:58
If we were looking for someone around that age, Mateta wouldn't be a bad shout. Seemed to be on the outta last season.

Also, another one could be Jackson.. Chelsea looking to offload players.

8.) 20 Aug 2026 08:42:06
Farke wouldn't be able to cope with Jackson.

9.) 20 Aug 2026 08:45:50
I agree on Fleming. He would be a very underwhelming addition, imo - the young striker at Midtjylland in Denmark, Franculino Dju, would be my choice. Big, fast and left-footed. He could easily replace Calvert-Lewin and/or play alongside him (right side) . I was shocked that Coventry pulled off the signing of midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, a superb talent, particularly given our pursuit of Shea Charles.

Left full-back is still a concern, and Hugo Bueno would surely be a realistic target given Wolves' demise. GK - I think the board were painfully naive not tying Darlow down to a new contract mid-term last season. Perhaps Alex Palmer or Chris Walton from Ipswich may be good options.

10.) 20 Aug 2026 10:09:40
Jackson misses more chances than Bamford did - hard pass from me.

11.) 20 Aug 2026 13:43:25
Lille interested in Flemming, according to Sky and others.

12.) 20 Aug 2026 14:27:21
Chelsea apparently want north of 60 mill for Jackson. Wouldn't pay half of that for him.

13.) 21 Aug 2026 09:44:01
Woltemade on loan would be great business imo -

He's capable of playing deeper or instead of Dcl - Nmecha to Wrexham, Franculino and Woltemade on loan would be tops - along with Luca Netz from Forest.

Here's an interesting one out of the blue from someone on X who never posts such links.

Grealish to Leeds.

Could be the poster formerly known as "Currymonster" but using a different pseudonym.

2.) 20 Aug 2026 10:10:45
Apparently Citeh wants us to cover all his wages (£300k a week) , so we have moved on. If they drop their ask, then we might be interested again.

3.) 20 Aug 2026 11:02:31
Waccoe ITK has completely killed that rumour.

07 Aug 2026 14:16:32
If we get a bid for Okafor, we'll ship him and move for Paixao. WACCOE ITK

FrogusMaximus

1.) 07 Aug 2026 14:44:57
Okafor scored 8 league goals to Paxo Cubes' 6 league goals in previous seez.

And, what makes you think Paxo Cubes would agree to join Leeds? He turned us down last seez.. Not exactly committed.

2.) 07 Aug 2026 15:19:32
No Paxo, no party, no way. Sincerely hope this is not true, Okafor every time.

3.) 07 Aug 2026 15:47:39
Personally, always liked Oka, a big, strong, fast over 5 yards unit. Anyone who understands football can surely see that. His only downfall is being injury prone and only being able to last 60 mins.

He's only 26, so hope we can get him fitter.

Paxo Smackso for me. Doesn't want Leeds, Farke won't have him. We do need cover though, an up and coming Raphinha would be great.

4.) 07 Aug 2026 21:36:17
I'd only sell Okafor for about 2.5 times what we paid for him. Wingers or wide forwards get injured. It happens. I think it's clear when he's on the pitch and healthy, he's got the most flair in the squad, which we need.

5.) 08 Aug 2026 09:39:37
Farke won't sell Okafor unless it's for big money.
If we signed Paixao, I see Okafor being used on the wing and as a second striker with DCL. He's played as a striker at AC Milan before.
It's more likely if we signed Paixao, then Gnonto goes.

Still need to sell: Gnonto, Ramazani, Piroe, Joffy, James & possibly Tanaka.

I saw a post saying Wolves want £35 & Dan James for
Hugo Bueno & Mane.

I'd offer them, £15/20m + James, Joffy & Piroe.

Bueno is direct competition for Gaby.

Mane is quality and young, with huge potential sell on value.

6.) 08 Aug 2026 16:07:07
The 35m + James quote was just wishful speculation on my part, Dave. That won't ever happen.

Makeweight offers, as much as they make sense in our heads, too often are too complex to work out.

7.) 09 Aug 2026 08:56:58
Ah, thanks for the clarity, Ealing.

Both good players though, and would definitely help us out.

8.) 09 Aug 2026 12:11:37
Manor Solomon to Hammers for £5-7 million, think I would rather have seen him as back up to Okafor tbh. Cheap, considering we were quoted £20mill + after promotion season.

9.) 10 Aug 2026 08:46:42
Totally agree, NAC! Great impact sub, and a better player than Cree imo!

10.) 10 Aug 2026 21:16:35
Paixo not fit to lace Okafor's shoelaces.

05 Aug 2026 23:26:02
Heard a little rumour we had asked about Myles Lewis-Skelly. Interested in January apparently but now they are buying Guimares, we have asked again. Man United sniffing around him too.

FrogusMaximus

1.) 05 Aug 2026 23:50:21
Hope it's true. That would be a great signing. We need to get a move on now. Hopefully the wait is killing me. MOT

2.) 06 Aug 2026 07:41:34
That's gotta be big money, surely? Unless a loan agreement. Would be a great signing tho, no doubt!
Interestingly, tho' I'm sceptical at this point, I did read that we want to bring in another 4 after Trafford!?

3.) 06 Aug 2026 08:27:10
Hope he picks up his pace then.

4.) 06 Aug 2026 09:48:00
I'd take him and Nwaneri whilst at it.

5.) 06 Aug 2026 10:02:14
Shelly off the Devon for 34, apparently. Gooners site.

6.) 06 Aug 2026 15:51:02
Man U off. Looking at Robinson from Fulham.

25 Jul 2026 10:33:18
Leeds have talked with Norwegian GK Ørjan Nyland who impressed at the WC for a number 2.

FrogusMaximus

1.) 25 Jul 2026 10:50:27
End of his career and a good second string for us, but think he'd want to be number 1.

Balogun in January for 25 million anyone?

FrogusMaximus

1.) 03 Sep 2026 15:16:56
That's a no thanks from me, Frogus. Apparently something was picked up in his medical that made Everton renegotiate the transfer. He has been offered around and no takers, so it's too dodgy a risk, I reckon.

2.) 03 Sep 2026 19:32:18
Balogun himself turned the move down after the renegotiation was accepted.

3.) 03 Sep 2026 19:51:48
Not quite correct, Vid, apparently.
Everton were trying to get the price down by saying he had an injury of some sort. Then, when they tried to get Zirkee in, the lad, after being effed about for hours, told Everton to do one. At least this is what I was told.

4.) 04 Sep 2026 13:28:08
This is the story I read:
Whatever was found on his medical, it can't have been too serious, else Everton would not have been prepared to go ahead with the transfer. Everton re-negotiated the deal with Monaco, and, crucially, the player's agreed personal terms were unchanged.

He seemed to still be happy to go ahead, and, as all the paperwork couldn't be completed by the deadline, he signed the deal sheet along with the two clubs, and only later decided to walk out, effectively killing the deal. Why he did that, only he knows.

23 Aug 2026 10:54:00
Most important signing we need next is a LWB. Look for a starter who GG then competes with.

FrogusMaximus

1.) 23 Aug 2026 13:50:05
Think Justin and young guy can cover adequately. All together now. Gimme a striker.

2.) 23 Aug 2026 14:16:52
Justin is not left footed, Aus..

We need a left-footed player at LB/LWB.

29 Jul 2026 11:34:16
Need Gnonto and Piroe out the door ASAP. Incredible that Farke even gave Piroe a season last year, so unsuited to the PL is he.

FrogusMaximus

1.) 29 Jul 2026 13:23:50
Yep, agreed, but to whom?

Piroe and Gnonto failed to score any EPL goals last seez; that is a serious scoring issue, a deficiency in our squad.

And Farke, for all his bluster about his coaching improving forward players, has actually seen Gnonto's development stall, or deteriorate, under his coaching!

And, just as with Jackie Harrison to Leicester, the 49ers, in hindsight at least, blundered in not accepting Everton's £20 to £25 million offer for Willy two seasons ago.

2.) 29 Jul 2026 13:59:27
Lots of blunders there, Baz, for you to jump on and blame it all on Herr Farke.
Some players don't make the transition from Championship to Premiership. That's not down to Farke's coaching abilities; it's more down to the limitations of certain individual players.

I still think Gnonto can improve in the Premiership; he hasn't been given the time like Aaronson was.
Personally, I'd rather release Aaronson than Willy.

3.) 29 Jul 2026 13:59:52
Baz, trouble is he didn't get much game time. If he was getting regular game time, I think he would have got goals. Not playing hits confidence, like Tanaka, player of the season, then dog season the next.

4.) 29 Jul 2026 14:03:59
What OP said.

5.) 29 Jul 2026 14:26:13
OP, we know you are a big fan of Farkey, and fair your prerogative..

But sorry, you are so wrong here. Willy was sensational in his first EPL season 22/23. He looked so dangerous, and so much, much better under your fave Jessie Marsch than he did all last seez under Farkey.

Sorry, you may not like it, OP, but there is no doubt at all that Willy has regressed under Farke.

6.) 29 Jul 2026 14:32:24
Whitey pal, re game time. Willy had 23 EPL appearances last seez. Yes, most of them as sub, but still plenty of minutes.

Farke simply can't get the best out of Willy. Facts.

And, Chrissy, you may prefer Willy over Ba, but some credit must go to Ba.

He did achieve 4 EPL goals and 5 EPL assists.

Plus 120% tireless pressing and closing down all season, which defo helped Leeds a lot defensively.

7.) 29 Jul 2026 15:23:21
Here comes the Bazathon again!
OP and Whitey are spot on imo.

8.) 29 Jul 2026 15:48:50
The sensational Willy Gnonto of 22/23, Baz, played 24 times and scored 2 goals, in nearly 23 hours of football. Hardly sensational, given that he only played a third of that time last season.

Don't get me wrong, I think Gnonto has much to offer, and even though he didn't score last season, he often changed the flow of a game when he came on; his opportunities were very limited last season. He was also being picked by Mancini for Italy a few seasons ago, which may be the case again now he's back. I am pretty sure Mancini knows a bit about football and the ability of a player. This might raise his game / confidence.

It's hard when your opportunities are limited to get any kind of rhythm. He is still a kid doing far better than 99.9% of those of a similar age, past or present.

Most folks at 22 have done absolutely nothing on the scale of a professional footballer.

Personally, I find the constant judging of players the most tedious subject on these forums. I get it, that's what folks want to discuss, but as I said, I find it tedious and disrespectful.

I wonder how many folks would like it, if for example a customer [never mind 1000's with zero knowledge or talent] decided someone was crap at their job and suggested that they should be fired?

If they're a Leeds player, and as long as they do / try their best when it's asked of them, they should be supported.

I get it, some players are just not good enough at the highest level, e.g. promoted beyond their ability.

I expect to be harangued for this POV.

9.) 29 Jul 2026 16:27:19
Ani, in 22/23 seez, Willy, whilst playing in a Leeds team that was destined for relegation, was a standout, dangerous player for Leeds United. He scored a few, assisted goals, and caused havoc in opposition defences.

Great away, for instance, at Man U and Liverpool.

A sensational new young player, who Leeds United received £30 million bids for as a 19 year old.

With regards to judging players, teams, player ratings, etc., that's everywhere from the Beeb to Sky to radio phone ins to fan forums to pub debates. Been like that forever, Ani.

10.) 29 Jul 2026 16:57:14
It has indeed, Baz. It doesn't make it right or fair.

Someone offers us 35million two weeks ago, and we would have sold him and bought Paixao. Three awful crosses at the weekend on his left foot, very low assist record, and cannot do more than 60 mins. Too many basing him on two goals at OT.

I heard it reported that a number of clubs asked about him, and the best offer from that group was in the region of 35 million, so not necessarily from Sunderland.

One of the elite WACCOE ITK's actually stated early in the summer that Leeds would consider a deal for him if a good offer came in.

For a player with one assist last season, and who cannot complete a game, I'd be onboard with that. Could have been a fine time to sell, and selling better is most certainly something the club have needed to do for decades.

Only really lacking the back up striker. Got rid of all the deadwood too in one form or another.

To be fair, players we have wanted rid of since promotion are not PL level players and all are paid way too much. Makes it hard to move them on.
