Anybody any insight into this new name in the frame - Marc Guiu?

leodis

1.) 22 Jul 2025 15:23:29
19 I believe Chelsea 5th choice nice player but not fully proven.

2.) 22 Jul 2025 18:48:05
Neither was Lukaku when he went to West Brom all those years ago

A Chelsea 5th line player would still be a good addition for us at this time. Ampadu wasn't a Chelsea regular but is doing very well for us.

3.) 22 Jul 2025 18:48:06
We're not interested, Guiu will end up on loan in the Champ.

4.) 23 Jul 2025 07:52:35
Lukaku had scored 43 senior goals before joining West Brom, Guiu has 8, would not be a good signing.

5.) 23 Jul 2025 10:26:59
Stick that in your pipe and smoke axe ?.

6.) 23 Jul 2025 20:05:48
Borate. your right.

22 Apr 2025 16:25:39
I wonder how much weight there was to newspaper reports of "Leeds are interested in". I have forgotten some of the recent ones. To see if they resurface. Except for some reason? Diego Luna.
Let's see if we are still interested (if we ever were) .

What do people think of the return of the Prodigal Son?
When he was with us he performed admirably (tho there were some notable detractors) however for the price we would pay and the player we would have to drop he does not now seem the ideal choice. Who could split a Ampadou/ Tanaka partnership. That is not even taking into consideration his average performances in his recent history.
No, for me the Kalvin Philips/ Leeds Utd partnership has had its day and as the old adage goes "never go back*.

1.) 17 Mar 2025 19:22:55
Said pretty much the same mate.

2.) 17 Mar 2025 21:47:53
Pure clickbait guff . never happening imo.

3.) 17 Mar 2025 21:50:12
LUFC players that came back and played well

John Lukic
David Batty
Peter Lorimer
Frankie Gray

Probably others.

4.) 17 Mar 2025 22:10:40
Scott Sellers
David Harvey
Etc etc.

5.) 17 Mar 2025 22:53:17
Ian Baird.

No thanks KP.

6.) 18 Mar 2025 14:25:29
We will lose a few players when we're promoted.
Bring KP back.

7.) 19 Mar 2025 00:04:11
I think there's a deal to be done - as ever at the right price.

Is Phillips right now worth the clickbait £20m mooted, absolutely not. Is it true that his best form and performances came for us? Yes. Media have to read the climate too. If he can't get in the Ipswich lineup regularly and is an albatross contract for City, their bargaining power really isn't all that. I'd offer a loan with maybe 40-50% of his wages, and an offer linked to appearances to buy out his final year entirely (about £8m) if a clause of say 25 league appearances is met. If the love/ motivation of playing for Leeds again nets us a player that's 80/ 90% of the one that left its a good deal. City might think they can do better than that, if so good luck to them.

I happen to think Phillips would be an upgrade on Gruev (who has done a lovely job for £5m-but would be found out in Prem) .

Could we be interested in Chuba Akpom? Just reading Sunderland are sniffing.

When it comes to the haphazard not exactly proactive nor efficient nature of LUFC recruiting

I find myself listening and empathising with Demi Lovato's power ballad :

" ANYONE! ". ???

#getusastriker.

2.) 30 Jan 2025 20:10:54
No links from LUFC to Akpom that I know of.

3.) 30 Jan 2025 20:44:29
Heard Leicester were in for him.

When Football teams run into difficulties everyone scrambles for a reason however it is never quite that simple. If there was just one reason then the fix should be far less complicated however (as with Leeds) there are often many "problems" all requiring their own solution.
Whilst DF should take a lot of the blame I feel he was seriously let down by the club and in particular The recruiting team. Failure to get the targets and failure to land second choices with the required level of skill.
Whilst he definitely needs to ask himself some searching questions I fear the time for that may well have passed. I am a great believer in continuity at clubs it seems that his intransigence is having an adverse affect on every game. With his subs and selection faults causing us grief and his reluctance to change losing us points the man is committing occupational suicide. I therefore now feel that unless there is a major approach change, soon then the only future is a new manager. The who and the when? Well that will command a few column inches I bet.

PS If we do go down who would be a good candidate to bring us back up?

leodis

1.) 24 Nov 2025 18:51:05
I believe they are holding on to see who is around then when the January window opens the new manager can bring in who he wants. They will be working on who that will be now.

2.) 25 Nov 2025 07:39:44
2 good posts imo. Makes a refreshing change.
Your question Leodis is one that has been asked many times, and avoided by most, tho some have put forward suggestions. Those avoiding an answer probably doing so as ;
A) they don't have a credible answer
B) not willing to stick their necks out, which would get in the way of vitriol spouting.

The fact is, it's the most pertinent question right now. The only appointment of late that might have got a tune out of this squad is Dyche, and NOBODY wanted him at our club.

#bringbackbigsam.

3.) 25 Nov 2025 08:17:47
Farke would likely be out of a job still. Give him a year to get us back up.

17 Nov 2025 18:55:54
I read of our interest in Troy Parrot et al however if we do employ a new striker it will be wasted unless our style of play changes. Our ethos now seems to be Defend! Do not give a goal away and hope we can sneak one somehow.

leodis

1.) 18 Nov 2025 00:55:59
Alkmaar are talking about breaking their transfer record for a sale that currently stands at €22.5M (£19.9M) . Can we afford that much, and if not who do we sell to finance the deal?

2.) 18 Nov 2025 06:44:20
When we first looked at him, weren't we put off by a £10m price tag or something?

3.) 18 Nov 2025 13:17:20
We won't spend £30m on one player in Jan. That's our entire budget. What a signing it would have been in the summer though.

4.) 18 Nov 2025 19:26:55
I think it's €30M they're now reported to be looking for, but that's still £26.4M to us!

09 Nov 2025 16:08:03
At the risk of repeating myself. That man (BA) will get Daniel the sack. Now he is not even doing himself any favours. His modus operandi, before the season started, was make us hard to beat. That clearly is not happening any more.

I know its a little bit old news now but I must say, having experienced it, I feel for all those Sheff Wed supporters. In the same breath I have to say, commiserations but also congratulations. It's not a nice place to be but with a little bit of luck it may well be the start of a new and exciting chapter in your story.

Your nemesis has gone. Stay positive. Support your team and through the dark days (and yes there will be dark, dark days) keep looking ahead.

Respect to Wendy fans, it's not farking right
Slab head + fidget spinner =180 mill

A fundamental club to our leagues on turmoil

Hope he will be ok Wendys.

2.) 25 Oct 2025 04:45:24
Shame. Hope it works out. Def down though.

3.) 25 Oct 2025 10:45:13
As per my earlier post, Leodis, I totally agree! Got some very good Wendy mates, and really feel for them, having been there. That criminal now needs sorting out for nearly destroying a historic club!

21 Oct 2025 10:11:21
We are 8 games in to t 38 game season. Maybe we should just accept the obvious and, see that this season is going to be a slog.
More losses than wins with some teams showing the gulf in class. When it sinks in to some that we are at big school now and the playground could get rough. The only aim is get your head down and survive any encouragement is more the gratefully recieved. To any who thought this season would be a cakewalk, the word delusion springs to mind and as for Farke and tactics? I too am baffled at times but calling for wholesale changes will help no one. You and I know (and this site shows) What a mess it would be if we all were in charge at ER. So for better or for worse let's just give the man some breathing space, support the team, the club, and stop calling for heads.

leodis

1.) 21 Oct 2025 11:11:39
Leodis, you're assuming another manager wouldn't do better. That Farke is getting more than a pint out of a pint pot with the players, he isn't.
There is more evidence to show that he can't do that job, than there is evidence that he can.

We will beat west ham, a team that could be beat by a starting line up that included Hellen Keller, Stephen hawking, ray Charles and Stevie wonder, and people will say "see! He can do the job".

Yes this season is going to be a battle but we have dropped points that we can't afford to.

2.) 21 Oct 2025 11:23:29
Leo, not 1 poster on here was under any illusion that this was going to be a doddle

Football for clubs like ours is good and bad
And if we do fail this Seez I would rather fail with effort then dross witnessed at weekend

Backwards, sidewards is horrible
Posters had been saying Lewin thrives on box delivery, well Farke stood on sidelines at weekend and witnessed complete opposite of that

And remained totally mute, maybe team needs more in game management then just half time

Then there's Baracus, who he keeps playing, whose greatest achievement in a game is not falling on his arse a dozen times

Things need to change sharpish, and again I reiterate I not calling for his head, just a different approach.

3.) 21 Oct 2025 11:33:30
Respectfully disagree Leo, the very definition of insanity is…. “Is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result".

Plus it would be a boring old banter site if we just accepted it all, to give Daniel more space.

For instance, from my own perspective to start with our front three and to have expected us to score the requisite amount of goals for a win was borderline delusional in my opinion.

Some people like to vent, rant and just because I generally do not, doesn’t mean they’re wrong or delusional, it’s an increasing common societal tactic to deride someone’s perspective, simply because their views don’t match or agree with your own.

The banter site (I believe) exists to encompass our broad but clearly dysfunctional family and all of us have the option to simply ignore posts we disagree with should we wish to, but cancel culture is the scourge of the modern age, again in my humble opinion.

I certainly don’t want DF head at this stage of the season, but I definitely would like to see changes made for Friday, as to do otherwise may once again test that insanity definition.

It’s an interesting game, I have it as must win given our upcoming run of fixtures, but I fully understand and accept why others say it is not.

ALAW.

4.) 21 Oct 2025 12:08:13
I, on the other hand, totally agree Leodis, as most in here would expect. I see no benefit at all in ditching Farke at this moment in time, and no matter how deep I dig into research, I can't find anyone who would deliver anything significantly better than we are achieving at this point in time. Not with the resources at the gaffer's disposal, at least. Not one.

5.) 21 Oct 2025 12:41:35
The ghost of Marsch hangs over us.
We stuck with him too long and our only option was dross managers.

Get someone now. Let them have their run of impossible winning games to get the team bedded in and playing right, then give them the January window to sell/ buy and strengthen the squad.

Basically, dump a truck load of money outside of a top managers door and have at it.

6.) 21 Oct 2025 13:31:52
Leodis and bright and opti. I’m sorry. You are wrong. We could play better. With better team selection and game management. We may survive. But purely cause the dross below. Not our ability to.

7.) 21 Oct 2025 17:29:09
Who would deliver that Aus? No one wanted the job pre season, so they sure as hell won't want it now!
And Mo. we don't have a pair of slippers to drop at a new manager's door, let alone a wad of cash!

8.) 22 Oct 2025 03:37:40
There's little proof to say we have no money other than the word of a man proven to talk trollops.

We have £30 mil sat on the bench. We could flog Piroe and get a cracking manager. I'm sure RB must know a couple.

9.) 22 Oct 2025 07:32:32
Well I’m glad that’s sorted then Aus, our opinions are wrong and yours is right, fine if you say so.
There seems to be a section of disgruntled fans towards Farke’s methods of which some want him to leave and others want him to make wholesale changes to his tactics and players.

Firstly changing does not always guarantee a positive outcome especially in the short term as it normally takes time for the players to adjust to the new coach’s plans. There doesn’t appear to be the so called new manager bounce at West Ham on Forest so far!
Secondly finding a new manager, who wants a previously failed manager from another club? I certainly don’t and any high profile manager who has been sacked would not want to come to a non champions league club like Leeds.
So that would mean poaching a manager which costs millions in compensation and then say to yourself who?, would Glasner, Iraola or Silva want to come to Leeds? I very much doubt it.

Something to ponder on when getting in Farke's back with all the heavy criticism he’s been receiving.
Strange that only a short while ago, some fans were saying it’s the 49er’s fault and not Farke’s for not investing in more and better quality players in a he summer, now that’s changed to a direct assault on Farke’s methods and tactics.
Make your minds up, which is it?

10.) 22 Oct 2025 10:14:42
It’s a mixture of both opti. Wrong buys in window and farkes inflexibility. Changes might not work but why not try. Not beating Burnley says it all. The starting 11 not up to it. So tweak a bit. If it Dosent work I for one will not moan. As long as he changes like for like and Dosent play ao in defence . Liam’s being mentioned.

11.) 22 Oct 2025 10:16:48
Who wants a previously failed manager?

OP 99.5% of them are all failed managers, it's the way it's always been

The 9'ers brought criticism of themselves on themselves by Mr Maratthe ridiculous pre window comments, , deals in sleep, targets identified, data driven, blah blah blah muck

We have been crying out for a striker for seasons now

And what we get? A freebie + a crock, so that where that's aimed

Fast forward to your best pal, it appears he's caught for ideas when we go behind, picking totally out of form players, and won't blood new players even though we could do with just that, then his default tactic

Wait till 70mins plus, to make changes, now Mr Maratthe isn't involved in any of that it Mr Farke, that must take that flack

So unsurprisingly from that that's where Mr Farkes culpability is, it's not moved from Ato B without reason, rumour has it Farke has 3 gAmes to save his job, and if he again picks Brendan Friday night, then I will join Farke out brigade, regardless of result.

12.) 22 Oct 2025 11:38:44
Chris, Daniel Farke is not my mate, I’ve never met him and i’m not likely to.
I defend him because I don’t think he deserves the massive amount of criticism he receives, posters were relentless in their criticism of him last season yet we won the title with promotion and it’s of no surprise to me that his haters will continue with their undeserved diatribe no matter what during this campaign in the premiership.
So far he has racked up enough points to keep us just above the relegation zone after eight games, I’m happy with that considering the way we are playing.
if he continues that and there’s no suggestion in my mind that he can’t, picking up the odd points here an there, then he might succeed in keeping us up in his first season with our club in the Premiership.
Not every Leeds fan will be happy with just survival but that's their choice of opinion and I accept that.
It is of my opinion however and I accept the fact we will lose more games than win and that can be against any team in this league. For me, so long as we play positively in defense and attack and stay in contention of survival then I want Farke to continue his work with our team in keeping us up.

13.) 22 Oct 2025 12:27:23
I also of the belief we will lose lot more than we win, but it's the manor of which we are going about the huge task of staying up, that's concerning me

You alluded too, who was current flavour for criticism

I pointed out current reasons for fans irk

We are both equally culpable for dismissive obvious pros and cons on his management style I would think

But you seem totally dismissive if the idea that something needs to change and quick, as Xmas is coming down the tracks

And we all know what likely scenario for bottoms clubs is at after Xmas.

14.) 22 Oct 2025 18:02:39
Not all Chris, personally i would give Bijol an opportunity start against West Ham, I also would like Aaronson and Harrison dropped but that is unlikely if James, Gnonto and Okafor are still injured.
I’m not a fan of making drastic changes like our formation or making Gudmundsson and Bogle as our attacking wingers. I would rather continue with Aaronson and Harrison until they can be properly replaced like for like rather than putting players out of their normal positions.
Taking those risky changes could make things worse and it is Herr Farke who has take the flak if it all goes pear shaped and not the fans bleating for those changes, who I’m sure would conveniently detach themselves from the idea of making changes and condemn him for making them.
Basically he can’t win, damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
As a fan it’s very easy to criticize, there’s zero kick back.

15.) 23 Oct 2025 09:02:21
Little proof, Mo? . let's just wait for the company financials then eh? They're not going to make a public statement stating one thing, only for accounts to be released saying something completely different. It's called misleading information, and is enough to get you struck off the directors register, so let's nip that little gem straight in the bud!

He sounds top notch but my only misgiving would be; if he is so good why not a starter for 11th placed Fiorentina. Surely they must see his exponential growth.
I hope you are right and he is a gem waiting to be found, we could do with another Raphina. Law of averages says that somewhere out there is some young lad, with it all, waiting to be discovered.

I agree but easy to say. Question is, who would join a sinking ship? Especially when there are other ships begging them to join.
No, the key is in getting what we have to gel together. Don't rely on the cavalry, they may not come. It's the old adage - "you got us into this mess. "
