Indeed, Leo, 99.5 % of names rumoured, proposed, suggested, "linked", clickbaited wont materialise at all.
And, there will likely, as usual, be very protracted summer-long rumours of 1 or 2 players who dont end up joining.
The good news is, there will hopefully be a couple of very good surprises that come out of nowhere, of seriously good players. . A youngish, relatively unknown Raphinha type mark 2 would be awesome!

1. It's not the board creating the 'rumours', most of which are bulls***.
2. Most people had to refer to Google to find out who Tanaka, Stach, Gudmonssen, Bijol were, and all have been big hits.
3. For those transfers we had heard of, many fans were critical of DCL, Bogle, Justin, and they've all been great.
Personally, I trust this recruitment team more than any previously.

What do people think of the return of the Prodigal Son?
When he was with us he performed admirably (tho there were some notable detractors) however for the price we would pay and the player we would have to drop he does not now seem the ideal choice. Who could split a Ampadou/ Tanaka partnership. That is not even taking into consideration his average performances in his recent history.
No, for me the Kalvin Philips/ Leeds Utd partnership has had its day and as the old adage goes "never go back*.

I think there's a deal to be done - as ever at the right price.
Is Phillips right now worth the clickbait £20m mooted, absolutely not. Is it true that his best form and performances came for us? Yes. Media have to read the climate too. If he can't get in the Ipswich lineup regularly and is an albatross contract for City, their bargaining power really isn't all that. I'd offer a loan with maybe 40-50% of his wages, and an offer linked to appearances to buy out his final year entirely (about £8m) if a clause of say 25 league appearances is met. If the love/ motivation of playing for Leeds again nets us a player that's 80/ 90% of the one that left its a good deal. City might think they can do better than that, if so good luck to them.
I happen to think Phillips would be an upgrade on Gruev (who has done a lovely job for £5m-but would be found out in Prem) .

In the case of, Man City vs Football
The ONLY face saver I can see for all parties is a heavy punishment (inc Expulsion) on all counts BUT suspended for 4 years
however on some of the lesser? counts.
A sizeable immediate fine (1) .
A 4 year ban from ALL competitions.
A (20) point deduction for each of the four years (2)
An inward transfer embargo for 2 years and any recruitment
for a further 2 years to be of a value no greater than £12? million per player
A Prem League accounts team to be placed in the Etihad (3) Scrutinised Accounts to be submitted biannually for four years.
An Immediate removal of certain obstructive members of the the board
(1) my suggestion is a figure not much short of a billion.
NB This money must the be ringfenced for the lower teams and must be paid within 6 mths of imposition
(2) argue the number but it must be one that may not demote but will ensure mid table at best.
(3) the costs of the a/cs team to be borne fully by Man City and any failure to submit scrutinised a/cs on time will result in the expulsion enacted.
I have argued that whilst the punishment must be harsh it must allow people to "save face". Very important culturally and I believe stepping back from full extermination may offer some face saving extraction.

I didn't agree with Leeds get deducted points for something the board did at that time the players didn't do it nor the fans so I don't agree that this should happen as it has to many club since its the the owner and board not the fault of the players of the fans we need to change don't punish the team players or the fans, ban them from ever having the privilege to own a football club or any business.
Charge them with the billion pounds that they have made and clubs have Lost. But sadly many other clubs and fans want blood revenge or what ever you wanna call it? I stand for change. I feel that Will happen and the only real point of discussion will be how many and for how long.
I think every right minded football fan must feel deeply for every true Man City fan at this time (even the blinkered ones) . Sadly, I can see no punishment possible that will not see them as colatteral damage.

What last night showed was that their bench is better than our bench. Their depth is deeper than our depth. Given where we are, no great shock but just wish it would have been a fluky 0-1 defeat.
I did say last year, and again this, our only aim must be a smooth sail through the Prem.
No nail biting come April. I would be happy with (an easy) mid table finish.
Personally, I do not want a Mickey Mouse Europe place. Not just yet anyway, maybe next year?

The only rumour I am not too keen on is - Mudryk.
He promised so much when going to Chelsea but in most games I have seen him in he has lamentably failed to impress. I have even seen a video of Gary Neville with the comment that the only are he excels in is speed in a straight line.
However he dissapoints in his ability to beat a man and then to cross accurately.
A bit of a basic requirement for a Winger don't you think?
Still I would have to trust in the scouts and prayer, if he does arrive.

JR was the only one to mention it but, if the punishment is too punitive then the spectre of Liquidation becomes more tempting? Also if they upset the Arab nature then all they will want in some way, anyway, is revenge. They may leave the Prem lobbing a few grenades.
