I wonder how much weight there was to newspaper reports of "Leeds are interested in". I have forgotten some of the recent ones. To see if they resurface. Except for some reason? Diego Luna.
Let's see if we are still interested (if we ever were) .

What do people think of the return of the Prodigal Son?
When he was with us he performed admirably (tho there were some notable detractors) however for the price we would pay and the player we would have to drop he does not now seem the ideal choice. Who could split a Ampadou/ Tanaka partnership. That is not even taking into consideration his average performances in his recent history.
No, for me the Kalvin Philips/ Leeds Utd partnership has had its day and as the old adage goes "never go back*.

Said pretty much the same mate.

2.) 17 Mar 2025 21:47:53
Pure clickbait guff . never happening imo.

3.) 17 Mar 2025 21:50:12
LUFC players that came back and played well

John Lukic
David Batty
Peter Lorimer
Frankie Gray

Probably others.

4.) 17 Mar 2025 22:10:40
Scott Sellers
David Harvey
Etc etc.

5.) 17 Mar 2025 22:53:17
Ian Baird.

No thanks KP.

6.) 18 Mar 2025 14:25:29
We will lose a few players when we're promoted.
Bring KP back.

7.) 19 Mar 2025 00:04:11
I think there's a deal to be done - as ever at the right price.

Is Phillips right now worth the clickbait £20m mooted, absolutely not. Is it true that his best form and performances came for us? Yes. Media have to read the climate too. If he can't get in the Ipswich lineup regularly and is an albatross contract for City, their bargaining power really isn't all that. I'd offer a loan with maybe 40-50% of his wages, and an offer linked to appearances to buy out his final year entirely (about £8m) if a clause of say 25 league appearances is met. If the love/ motivation of playing for Leeds again nets us a player that's 80/ 90% of the one that left its a good deal. City might think they can do better than that, if so good luck to them.

I happen to think Phillips would be an upgrade on Gruev (who has done a lovely job for £5m-but would be found out in Prem) .

Could we be interested in Chuba Akpom? Just reading Sunderland are sniffing.

1.) 30 Jan 2025 18:35:39
When it comes to the haphazard not exactly proactive nor efficient nature of LUFC recruiting

I find myself listening and empathising with Demi Lovato's power ballad :

" ANYONE! ". ???

#getusastriker.

2.) 30 Jan 2025 20:10:54
No links from LUFC to Akpom that I know of.

3.) 30 Jan 2025 20:44:29
Heard Leicester were in for him.

30 Jan 2025 17:27:21
matt targett. Are we getting him? Is he coming. If not what about young Charlie Taylor?

leodis

1.) 30 Jan 2025 20:10:19
Apparently not. To either.

27 Jan 2025 22:27:28
Listening to Radio Leeds. It seems there was someone on the pitch called Piroe? Wonder what he was doing?

leodis

The Buendia at Norwich would be well worth a punt but the Buendia of recent times has a big question mark over him.
Lets hope he is just waiting for his old teacher to restore his quality. We now need to buy a Puuki to feed off him.
Yes, I know he doesn't like tracking back but for "in form" you can't look past Hamer.

Let me first say that i am no great fan of Chris Wilder or Sheffield United but it was disgraceful, the result yesterday. Any team that finishes 14 points ahed of any rival deserves some form of recognition. In my eyes that should be automatic Promotion. In fact any team 3 wins (9 points) deserves some advantage.
It is a travesty and incomprehensible that a league competition should be be decided by a knockout competition.
I feel for the man today, even in the game I thought SheffU were the better team. I hope the EFL enjoy their payday (I bet the profit does not trickle down) for yesterday they perverted the course of Justice.

leodis

1.) 25 May 2025 12:05:47
Fair point leodis. I agree.
Sunderland are crap.
Problem is wilder is an idiot.
Should be top 3 auto.

2.) 25 May 2025 15:04:07
It should be top three auto promoted but the EFL want their money. £200 million quid they make from the play offs.

3.) 25 May 2025 18:05:04
Totally agree Leodis!

4.) 25 May 2025 20:14:26
Despite the heartache it generates, particularly for us, I like the playoffs. Makes the league much more competitive right to the end.

5.) 25 May 2025 21:04:07
Remember gladiators where they would compete through challenges to gain an advantage for the main event at the end. Exactly what that advantage could be other than goals headstart I’ve no idea. Does seem unfair in my opinion too that Sunderland come up.

6.) 26 May 2025 06:28:49
As always in football the rules are favourable to the team that benefits from it and condemned by teams that don’t.
Like ourselves the playoffs have appeared to be very unfair like last season but try telling that to a Southampton or Sunderland fan.

7.) 26 May 2025 07:53:55
I agree playoffs are far from fair, however they make the leauge interesting, give a lot of teams something to play for, generate money and can create some cracking games and entertainment/ drama so overall the good out weights the bad plus as a fan o bet nothing is better than a playoff win.

I controversially like Chris Wilde, o think he is a great manager and I like him as a bloke (he can take what he gives out and I respect that) and like farke it’s is time for him to prove me right and like farke take sheff up at champs next season no questions asked, that’s what the great managers do, just ask any leeds fan.

8.) 26 May 2025 10:05:48
Like leeds last season Sheffield had a dip in form at the wrong time.
We wobbled but had a few games to recover.
Just proves a team that starts strong and leads for a good portion of the season isn't always the winner in the end.

22 May 2025 10:21:12
Satisfied next season is 17th or above (but please no nail biting) . Success is staying up easily. Bottom half but with ease.
Anything else is jam (mid table or top half) .
It is crucial now, the recruitment. I will not criticize (well maybe a little, if deserved) for, so far I am more than happy with incomings and now (with deeper pockets) long may it continue.
I will also refuse to add to speculation with all the names bandied about for, as we know, the Leeds way is, bubble up 99 names and buy the 100th which then gets us all rushing to Google. Still, worked so far!

leodis

1.) 22 May 2025 14:17:19
17th def not good enough. Seriously?
If we improve our current team by over 100 mill. I’d be looking at top 12.

2.) 22 May 2025 15:13:14
I think we will do well. We got a great manager decent squad and great onwers who have been spot on with recuritment and will to back us

I predict 12-8 next season and think they will put us back at top table in the next few seasons.

3.) 22 May 2025 15:13:28
I reckon we will finish 8th-10th.

A good start, a shaky Xmas period and end the season on a run of wins.

I have a feeling that one of our new signings is going to gel the team together and be the rising tide that lifts all boats.

4.) 22 May 2025 15:55:02
I think top half. The biggest factor we have is the unity of the club and staff, similar to under Wilko, O'Leary and Marcelo. When we are on a wave magic happens. I see no reason why we can't compete and don't subscribe to the mantra of survival, we are better than that and instead of being victims of "welcome to the premiership" we need to reply "welcome to the new world"

5.) 22 May 2025 18:57:30
I wish I had a crystal ball but I do not see how the current squad can achieve top 10 (maybe they can? ) and, as we have not signed anybody yet I think it is a little bit premature to predict. let's all wit till the end of the summer and see just what our line up looks like.

6.) 22 May 2025 22:43:14
Current squad we straight back down
The end ?.

7.) 23 May 2025 00:09:11
Add 100 Mill to current squad and got to be top 12. Unless recruitment or manager fails us. This team would be in a relegation battle but imo not guaranteed to go down. Don’t forget play off winners Burnley and custard.

8.) 23 May 2025 08:17:30
I'm with Leodis and Chris on this one I'm afraid. Current squad, yes, are unified, with a great spirit, and a good gaffer, but will struggle as is. We need min 4 top quality signings, AND for them to stay fit all season, and with that we might just get a strong, commendable mid table finish.
And for clarity on signings, I mean top quality, not necessarily "big names". 4 more Tanakas would be just great by me!

9.) 23 May 2025 09:53:39
Baz Baz, I mean, Chris Chris, our squad has talent beyond the levels we have reached.

If we had another defender to go along with Rodon and amps, a proper shot stopper in goal, a 10 and a striker, we will be in a good position.

I know you can't convert every chance made, but if a striker converts 50% of the chances we create, we will be laughing.

On top of that, I suspect next season a lot of clubs will struggle to win many games, making it easier for the cream to rise to the top. Notts, man city, Newcastle, arsenal, maybe Chelsea will be top six, the rest I can see them falling apart or struggling.

We have a potential of 'easy' games against teams that are dire. If it wasn't for Ipswich, southhampton and Leicester doing so poorly, spuds and man U would be relegated.

If we win 30% of our games next season, we will be safe. Drawing 30% will see up towards top. That's my belief anyway.

10.) 23 May 2025 16:02:40
Thanks for Comparison Mot, ?
But you do you, and I will remain unconvinced.

Comparing ANYTHING we did or have to what's facing us next August is like apples and oranges, so if you believe that suddenly Gruev is going to turn into a star or that Piroe is going to get15 goals in my opinion your miles off pal.

11.) 23 May 2025 17:52:46
I agree with gruv but I don’t think pirole could surprise a few and get maybe 12 goals or more next season.

12.) 24 May 2025 00:44:32
I don’t want to be starting piroe.

10 May 2025 20:46:19
With a mid and a. CB strongly linked what is to become of Amps?
Could we be looking at 4-3-3?

leodis

1.) 10 May 2025 21:50:38
Whisper it quietly . is Amps good enough to be a LUFC starter in EPL? For me he is a bench option.

2.) 10 May 2025 22:33:29
Yes whisper it so quietly that you can’t hear it at all.
Baz’s great expectations go to another dimension where we are not lowly Leeds United, just promoted from the Championship, no we’ve morphed ourselves into a top Champions league club and we expect far more than our sub standard Captain Ampadu.
Get rid of him or put him on the bench and put in a sensible bid for let’s say Rodri, that’ll work.

3.) 10 May 2025 22:48:53
Rodri will do just fine OP

But seriously Amps in midfield at EPL level . hmmm.

4.) 10 May 2025 22:58:54
Baz mate you are so wrong on this one.
Ampadu is quality.
Unfortunately he’s not played enough in the midfield role last two seasons but once he gets a run there his qualities will shine.
The lad has got almost every attribute to be a top performer and imo could play for almost any top half premiership side.
I’m actually amazed we managed to keep hold of him after last season.

5.) 10 May 2025 23:28:27
Oh dear Baz, now Amps is not good enough, your shock tactics are getting desperate dude. Maybe you should go on a date with Gobby Ping Pong La Whore and compare notes.

6.) 10 May 2025 23:42:58
Agree to disagree Corky. I actually much prefer Amps as a central defender to central midfield.

Either way he is completely unproven at EPL level . top 6 EPL level nah.

7.) 11 May 2025 01:08:35
Gotta admit chaps. I prefer amps in defence.

8.) 11 May 2025 04:44:40
Indeed Aus. Amps in defence more preferable

Davey I have righted your dodgy losing golf bets recently ; not sure your opinions on footie hold much water either.

9.) 11 May 2025 07:43:48
Well Baz, water retention is Very bad for you but touche Mon Brave.

10.) 11 May 2025 08:04:59
Twice in a week, but I partly agree with Baz. I prefer Amps in defence. As for his capabilities, no doubt good enough for lower mid table EPL side. (Which is optimistically is what we might be)

I’m bored of these discussions about “EPL Quality. ” Every season there are 500 squad players in the EPL, by implication good enough to be in an EPL squad/ team; probably a 10th of them are a cut above the rest. Is anyone seriously suggesting that most of our squad is not in the “top 500” players in the league? Amps is not a top 500 player?

11.) 11 May 2025 08:33:45
I can’t see Amps as one of our starting CBs in the Premier league. I think if he plays it will be more in central midfield, nice position for the captain and his ability to drop back into defence when needed. We need at least one tall, strong, aggressive and experienced CB and they’ll get that starting berth.

12.) 11 May 2025 08:48:20
We can't have new players for all positions, so Ampadu would start next season in midfield for me. He has earned it.

13.) 11 May 2025 16:00:43
I will openly admit to having my doubts as to whether Amps improves our midfield over the likes of Gruev and Tanaka. I do agree with Corky too tho, that my doubts are probably a tad unfair as the guy has been pulled from pillar to post, and therefore unable to settle into his favoured MF role.

05 May 2025 16:58:13
As well as LB does anyone think we may need a new RB?
In the Champs we have been so dominant that the only real skill a FB needed was the ability to attack but, next season maybe the greatest requirement will be the ability to defend?

leodis

1.) 05 May 2025 17:57:05
Yep definitely will need pacy right and left full backs who first and foremost defend very well ( plus attack very effectively)

Young versions of Paul Reaney, Gary Kelly, Tony Dorigo etc.

2.) 05 May 2025 19:12:39
LB definitely and another FB who can play both sides.
I say that as I can’t see Leeds buying three FBs which would be ideal.
Most importantly we need a CB with some pace to play alongside Rodon.
Probably going to need ten new players of quality.
A couple of gems like Tanaka with smallish fees would help.

3.) 05 May 2025 21:41:29
Corky we don't want a right footed back up LB. nor a left footed back up RB

No more square pegs round holes LUFC thanks.

He sounds top notch but my only misgiving would be; if he is so good why not a starter for 11th placed Fiorentina. Surely they must see his exponential growth.
I hope you are right and he is a gem waiting to be found, we could do with another Raphina. Law of averages says that somewhere out there is some young lad, with it all, waiting to be discovered.
