Farke states, and I quote, " we wanted to go through "

I hate being taken for a fool, that's bol&$#ks, if he was serious about going through he wouldn5 have made 10 changes.

1970 2-5

1.) 08 Feb 2025 21:18:20
you can make changes and still want to go through.

2.) 09 Feb 2025 12:59:19
He's right, 1970. We did want to go through, we just didn't want to risk our players doing so.

There's an argument to be made that we should have bought more players if injury is such a concern, but that's by the by.

3.) 09 Feb 2025 14:09:23
MOTagain 100%.

4.) 12 Feb 2025 09:03:49
Farke vindicated after last night? Resting the squad seemed to work like a charm.

1970 we need to get through promotion which has just got harder we could be two pints behind come Monday night.

Bielsa post match comments are very worrying - he sounds tired and defeated, almost resigned to continued struggles. My bet is he is off back to Argy at end of season.

Baz my old flower, can you explain your thought process on it hopefully being Farke's last season.

Your further remark then states if we finish top ten then keep him but if it’s another bottom six fight then let him go,

By definition this then looks like you are wishing for us to be bottom six so Farke is jettisoned.

Sometimes my friend you make little sense!

1970 2-5

1.) 03 Aug 2026 09:22:20
1970 'Wishing' no.

Thinking we will likely finish bottom 6 under Farke.

He failed in seez 1 in Champ, imo.

Seez three, he was on brink of being sacked.

I don't rate him that much, maybe you do, but not sure you do though from your posts on Farke last seez.

Aimo.

2.) 03 Aug 2026 11:52:27
"Failed" in season one after inheriting a basket case club, with half "his" team wanting to play for someone else or sold.

It's quite remarkable how Farke got that team anywhere near promotion.

Revie inherited a team in 14th place and ended up, err, 14th in his first season. It took Revie another couple of seasons to get out of Division 2. By your measure, Baz, abject failure?

3.) 03 Aug 2026 12:36:02
Ani, Farke had £130 million worth of talent up front. Bless him.

£ 40 million Rutter, £ 25 million Summerville, £15:million Joel Piroe, £25 million DJ, £25 million Willy Gnonto and even Sinisterra for the win vs Ipswich.

Yet still couldn't finish higher than the mighty L1 Ipswich.

Most EPL teams coming down really should be going up at 1st attempt.

Anyways, all opinions.

4.) 03 Aug 2026 12:43:23
Baz, think you may need to rub your crystal ball more, ? I think we are still building our team. We have spent our budget to acquire quality signings. I think if we are six from bottom, he will still be in the job, and if we are anywhere near mid table, he will definitely be in the job.

I think 49 are just looking at what he can achieve with what they're bringing in, and hopefully next season we will bring in a lot more quality. He deserves a chance, but Baz, mate, I can understand your reasons.

Question: Would you rather attend the World Cup final and watch 22 prima donna’s play tic tac and dive around for 120 minutes on a pristine pitch for lord knows how much money or go to say Scunthorpe on a wet Wednesday night for an FA Cup replay where you are close enough to actually see the game (and maybe treat yourself to a pie and Bo Ril a5 half-time) ?

1970 2-5

1.) 20 Jul 2026 11:15:02
The latter, of course, as it involves Leeds United..

As for this WC. Yes, it has its faults, but there's still been a lot to enjoy.

2.) 20 Jul 2026 11:27:51
I'll take the pie, but you can keep the Bo Ril or Bovril. Give me coffee laced with a tot of Rum any day.

3.) 20 Jul 2026 11:54:23
Worse WC ever, sidewards - backwards football fest.
And, don't even get me going on that half time embarrassment.

Infantino - Out. ?

4.) 20 Jul 2026 12:21:30
Yeah, that ten-goal England-France thriller was a right yawn for starters, Chrissy. ?

WC 2026 was definitely better imo than the 1994 and 2010 WCs.

5.) 20 Jul 2026 13:52:59
There were some highlights and good games 1970. Plenty of games every weekend of the EPL that are crap.

6.) 20 Jul 2026 14:14:03
Indeed, Aus.

Lots of very tedious crap games in EPL every season.

7.) 20 Jul 2026 14:14:07
Jeez, that's impressive, Baz.
Out of 104 games, the way you just rattled off that 1. ????

That WC was a bore fest.

8.) 20 Jul 2026 14:43:32
Yes, Chrissy.

But

that one game was imo more enjoyable than virtually all World Cup games of the past 60 years, bar the World Cup finals of 1966 and 1970 and maybe a few other games.

However, plenty of other enjoyable, good games and plenty of goals in WC2026. Far, far more goals and better games than the very overhyped 1990 WC, for instance.

England 6 vs France 4
Mexico 2 vs England 3
Argentina 3 vs Egypt 2
Spain 2 vs France 0
Argentina 3 vs Cape Verde 2
Brazil 2 vs Japan 1
Belgium 3 vs Senegal 2
Canada 0 vs Morocco 3
Algeria 3 vs Austria 3
New Zealand 1 vs Belgium 5
Norway 1 vs France 4
Turkey 3 vs USA 2
Norway 3 vs Senegal 2
Uruguay 2 vs Cape Verde 2
Netherlands 5 vs Sweden 1
Canada 6 vs Qatar 0

Etc etc

And as I said, plenty of duff bore fest EPL games each seez.

9.) 20 Jul 2026 13:55:13
And don't think Spain can be called primal Madonna's too. As they won it on merit and smashed argies in final. Any team restricting argies to that little deserve credit. England didn't.

10.) 20 Jul 2026 14:51:53
I don't like America. Or particularly Americans. I have my reasons.
But it was an ok World Cup. Not great. Not crap. But lots of pluses for the lesser nations. That's what I like. Austria. Morocco. Cape Verdi. Konya. Bosnia. Senegal. Lots of flair and endeavour
Just a shame tuchel tactics and draw made it not France v Spain.

11.) 20 Jul 2026 15:14:35
I didn't mind the HT entertainment..

Madonna singing the Evita ? song instead of ' Music ' would have been fab. ?

12.) 20 Jul 2026 16:29:22
Ht was an embarrassment, and should never be allowed to happen ever again at any football match! Baz will be quoting Tom Cruise poetry next!

13.) 20 Jul 2026 17:34:53
Tom only writes short stories, Bright.

06 Jul 2026 22:17:10
So Infantile and the Orange man do a side deal on Belugas red card - exactly where does that end? If USA are one down with minutes left, I assume a quick phone to request a penalty would not be out of order. Infantile (and indeed Orange) are both corrupt individuals, the integrity of the whole competition comes into question (if it wasn’t already) .

1970 2-5

1.) 06 Jul 2026 23:10:32
Never gonna happen, but every nation should refuse to play until this ridiculous decision has been reversed.

2.) 06 Jul 2026 23:17:12
And the less said about the phoney peace prize the better.

3.) 07 Jul 2026 07:43:44
I believe they got their comeuppance. Nothing a chump could do about that spanking.

4.) 07 Jul 2026 08:25:50
Well done, Belgium. A big red card for the USA.

05 Jul 2026 10:53:42
Can I propose a “hydration” break after every goal. The reason for this is to help replenish the entire team (including it appears all the subs) who uncontrollably rush to the corner flag screaming in anger or joy (still trying to work out which) for a love in with their mates.

Reminds me of many a party in the 1960s but that another story I won’t dwell on. It’s all getting a bit ridiculous don’t you think, seems everyone has to kiss and hug everyone else and scream sweet nothings before the actual scorer preens and showboats in front of the now crazed fans.

1970 2-5

1.) 05 Jul 2026 13:46:00
Lol. My favourite showboating was the scorer of the 2nd goal, a worldie for Cape Verde vs the Argies, who upon scoring

- raced away, Usian Blot speed, avoiding all and sundry.

- and then clambered up the stadium and into the crowd like he has just won the Wimbledon tennis finals.

Embrace it 1970. It's Hollywood babyyy!

2.) 05 Jul 2026 13:44:52
Wow. You were in the kitchen at parties in the 60s 1970. Impressive.
Agree about goal celebrations. Guarantee yanks insisted on it. Boring.

3.) 05 Jul 2026 16:10:04
Not the kitchen, Ausman, but in retrospect that would have been a wiser choice!

01 Jul 2026 10:36:05
Question is if we will get as far as facing Mexico? Our toothless wonders could go out on penalties to DRC - not long before we find out though.

1970 2-5

1.) 01 Jul 2026 12:31:37
That is exactly the worst case scenario I'm kind of expecting '70!

2.) 01 Jul 2026 12:46:28
Yep could easily happen. We have been tragic so far and there are no easy games. Hopefully, we start to find out form.

3.) 01 Jul 2026 14:16:27
Hopefully, we get what we deserve. A mauling. So many teams have entertained and scored spectacular goals. We just bore. Only team in the World Cup that has the dehydration break in their match highlights. Move on. Nothing to see here.

4.) 01 Jul 2026 14:31:48
Bit harsh, guys - I think Germany, Holland, Italy, and Uruguay would swap with us right now. No prizes for winning your group games in style. No excuse for not beating DRC, though - their best player, Wissa, can barely get in the Newcastle team. I expect a much improved display and result.

5.) 01 Jul 2026 19:16:36
Well, as the Duke of Wellington famously said after the Battle of Waterloo, "that was a damned close run thing." The most appropriate phrase I can think of is "lucky, lucky, lucky." And to Harry Kane, sorry, that was not a penalty; you were on your way down before the goalie touched you.

6.) 01 Jul 2026 19:20:50
XG 2.04 v 0.8 - seems like a fair result to me, rather than lucky lucky lucky.

7.) 01 Jul 2026 19:37:03
With JR on everything.

8.) 01 Jul 2026 20:00:48
England being carried by Kane. If DRC had made it 2 - 0, it could have been curtains. Big improvement required against Mexico.

9.) 01 Jul 2026 20:13:11
Kane is a bit like Sheringham. No pace, but his brain is two steps ahead of the opposition. Remarkable season for him. No wonder Barcelona are interested in signing him, but seemingly Kane and his family are happy in Munich.

10.) 01 Jul 2026 21:03:10
We were woeful imo. Their keeper played a blinder, and they looked to take the game to us, which was refreshing. Bellingham, Kane, and that Irish man, Rice, are carrying us. The rest have zero bite, and zero creativity, and our defence takes the breath away for the wrong reasons!

11.) 02 Jul 2026 10:17:11
How contradictory is that? We were woeful, yet we forced their goalie into playing a blinder to keep them in the game. We were woeful for 23 minutes, then TT tore into them, and we were by far the better side for the last 3 quarters. Not a Gordon fan, but thought he was excellent when he came on - lovely weighted cross for the first, rode 2 tackles, and slipped a lovely ball to Kane for the second rather than taking the easy option and playing backwards as Gashford did for the first hour.

12.) 02 Jul 2026 12:31:51
So, we should be the better side! It's on that basis that my "woeful" descriptor stands! Probably, a billion quids worth of "talent" on that oak, and only 3 of them showed anything! Yes, their keeper had a blinder, but we were still crap!

Well he would say that wouldn’t he! I don’t read that much into it, if money is right he will be back to Germany before you can say blitzkrieg.

Please see my post from earlier this week! Of course he knew, no doubt what so ever - question is would he have spent regardless?

Probably not - but as I stated previously we will end up with net profit the window for Radz to siphon off a couple of million for other ventures.

He has been good for Leeds but first and foremost he is a business man looking to make a profit.
