A rather predictable end 5o the sideshow known as the European Cup. Kal the English player of the tournament. Now back to the serious business of LUFC taking the league by storm. COME ON LEEDS.

The euro dream was good while it lasted, fine margins in football between success and failure. It will happen hopefully for England some day but if our level is getting to the latter stages of a tournament then so be it, many nations see success as getting to a tournament and celebrate that, open top bus rides etc. As an English man I am proud off what this group of players and staff have given during the past month, with what the country and even the world has gone through with c.v., it's been great to have something positive to focus on. The boost this tournament has given to businesses is massive.
Finally the morons who abuse any player for missing a penalty and racially abused them, I hope they are found and get punished. Roll on the start of the season.

Mezzer - your absolutely right about the penalty takers. There never an excuse for racially abusing anyone, and no-one should be abused for missing a penalty - no amount of practice can prepare you for the pressure of the match situation, particularly on a final.

Southgate said the penalty takers were decided in advance, presumably at least partly on the basis of who volunteered. As I understand it, Sterling, Mount and Grealish are all among the designated penalty takers for their clubs, so why was Saka even in the five, let alone taking the last one?! - he had apparently never taken a senior penalty before. Furthermore, putting Rashford and Sancho on less than two minutes before the end, obviously specifically to take penalties, put an extra pressure on them and gave them no time to get their heads into the game, and far too much time sitting on the bench stewing over what was to come, with no opportunity to affect the game so as to prevent it. Extraordinarily poor planning by Southgate for this match - after seeming to get everything right for the rest of the tournament.

Yes it was bizarre indeed. If those 3 volunteered though and the others didn't then its down to the players themselves. Tactics only look wrong if they don't work and had one of those 3 scored (particularly Rashford as his miss put additional pressure on the other 2) we might have won and suddenly the tactic is genius. We will never know.

Much as I love KP Alf I certainly don't agree KP was English player of the tournament, ar least 4 other players ahead of him

KP played well in virtually all of the games in pressing bu other than the. Croatia match in which his all round game was excellent he often appeared nervous not offering himself a lot of the times to receive the ball from his colleagues and nearly always playing it safe when he did actuallly receive the ball passing backwards to defenders most of the time.

Overall KP still did well but boy he is far more impressive and progressive playing for El Magico Bielsa Leeds than Southgate England.
