Sorry for the long post but I've been just reading for a while now and feel like I need I get something out there.

All this negativity is ridiculous. Will all these negative posters please tell me exactly why they are unhappy? We lost 1 game and drew the other, with a squad that has not yet gelled as a group. That takes time.

Our options at the end of last season were:

1. Carry on as before with a mediocre squad and rely on a select few individuals to carry the team. All the while bleeding money from every orifice.

2. Sign shedloads of well known players that other clubs don't want and ten discover why once the season starts.

3. Pay loads of money and plunge ourselves into more debt for a team of quality players who would be incapable of playing together. We are not at the top of the prem yet.

4. OR WHAT CELLINO HAS DONE
Attempt to free us from as much debt as possible. CHECK. Cash in on a player who wants to leave and provides no guarentee in order to boost out transfer kitty. CHECK. Build a support team around a good coach to lead the team. CHECK. Blood our own youth. CHECK. Give players a clean slate to prove themselves, unless they clearly suck. CHECK. Look to the league that he knows well to sign players (also cheaper then UK on the whole). CHECK. Sign a mixture of exciting young players and experienced (not journeymen) players. CHECK.

What is really annoying me is people slating the potential singing of young players from foreign leagues just because they haven't heard of them. If thy were from an English club and they had heard of them then I bet eveyone would be over the moon.

With regards to Hockaday. He is clearly a good coach who hasn't yet proved himself as a manager.
With Salerno and Cellino working signings. Carbobe working youth. Gibbs in support I think we have a good team. I just pray that people judge the team (players/staff/owner) when we have had time to settle and played some competitive games! Eveyone starts somewhere and Hockaday deserves a chance in my opinion. (I'm sure a lot people will tell me I'm wrong)

Signings so far I believe have been good. Salerno clearly knows his football as does Cellino. Granted it is very soon until the season starts but we clearly have targets and are workin hard I sign them.

Nobody has won the league yet and similarly nobody has been relegated already- although Blackpool aren't in a great state! So for god's sake get behind the team, give the new players/staff a chance and let's have a go. it's all we can do!

I want our team to do as well just as badly as eveyone else does but criticising and being negative doesn't help anyone.

Top post Peter one of the best I've seen on here.

Totally agree. I think this week could be v. interesting

Great post Peter you echo my sentiments entirely. It's nice to hear a voice of reason I'm fed up of people moaning before the transfer window has closed and a ball being kicked in earnest.
We should be supporting the coach and players not sticking the boot in so early in the season. My opinion only but just as valid as the naysayers. MOT Speedo4Eva

Hang on there Peter! Let's have a think about this.Your critising our fans for critising the team and saying criticism is wrong? Sorry mate, have to disagree. The players, coach and owner/s ain't Leeds United! WE are Leeds United! The players, coach and owner/s come and go. The one constant of LUFC is US, the fans! They have a RIGHT to whatever opinion they want. We were all carried away to some extent on the wave of optimism when Cellino came in. Being optimistic and supportive of the team is fair and I totally accept your point. Being realistic and if we were totally honest, would we say our team iright now, is an improvement on what we had last season? Extremely doubtful my friend. I also accept it's getting to squeaky bum time as far as transfers go so things are getting a bit worrying. Fans are expressing their concerns in the way they they wish. But let's be clear! EVERY single one of them/us wants the very best for team the represents the greatest fans in the world.
Okay, rant over MOT

Great post, some people expect miracles, now we are signing players that are from pedigree champion league sides.

The internet has been a gift and a curse for football fans everywhere. On the one hand it gives us a great forum to discuss the ins and outs of Leeds with like-minded people who have passion for the team and what to see them do well.

On the other hand it gives people the opinion of every Tom, Dick and Harry whilst presenting it as fact, making a lot of frustrated fans believe that everything that occurs is a negative thing.

I'm getting frustrated that Bianchi, Silvestri and Doukara aren't good enough before I've personally seen them kick a ball, and that's just because 'journalists' keep saying we lack quality. What's all that about?

First game I can get to is Dundee United, and I'm looking forward to judging the players and the coach myself, rather than having the internet do it for me.

Which position would we rather be in? ours or Blackpool's-at least Cellino has us financially stable-everything else should follow on given the chance

8.) 28 Jul 2014
Glad you guys agree. What annoys me is nobody ever justifies their negative posts. If anyone can explain a reason for us not to get behind Hock and the team then I will happily accept that but all I ever see is people slating a bad performance.

Anyway this season will be great whatever happens because I will get to watch 11 players pull on the white shirt of my beloved club and play the game that we all love.

Gman

I agree that honestly I don't think our team is good enough for promotion as it stands. (Hope I am proved wrong) what I am saying is that it is very unfair to immediately judge a team based on a few pre season results. Yes the signings aren't quite there, but we also aren't finished yet. And at least we are in a position to make signings (a fair few) and challenge to attract top talent. I do agree that we have great fans I just think we all need to be positive.

If the team is terrible in 2/3 months I will turn around and point my finger at Cellino and Hockaday and the team.

Hell of a post Peter, great inspiring reading. II hope to read many more similar positive posts to yours over the next season.
Yes some posts are unfortunately clearly negative this is true, however this is very different to thoughtful, considerate posters who express their concerns.

Agree with most of opening post but how is Hock clearly a good coach? On what basis? The whole Hockaday appointment still has me puzzled?! However MC has been a breath of fresh air. MOT.
