Just reading the citeh have been found guilty of breaking financial regs. If they are in the s*** financially, I think it could be worth putting in a loan bid for Haaland to come home.

He makes about 600k a week not to mention the world record setting loan fee City would demand.

We know they've been found guilty but the report isn't even technically published yet, hopefully within hours. Give it another year and another commission for them to decide what the actual sanction will be.

Another year for City to appeal that sanction to the Premier League. Another year on top of that when they appeal to CAS. Give it three years before any relegation or points deductions even begin to materialise.

Even if Haaland decide he's been lied to and wants out. Madrid and Barcelona will be calling.

The romantic in me wants it of course, the realist knows it wont happen or he'll be 36 when we get a shot, not at 26.

This is probably not yet the end of the story, but my bet is that they'll eventually wriggle out of it somehow or at worst just be given a rap on the knuckles and no significant punishment.
I recommend a £50M fine and relegation to League 2, but hell will freeze over before that's going to happen.

Sorry JR, if they are found guilty then unless there is a really severe penalty then the whole game is brought in to disrepute and opens the door for every other club to break the rules without any threat of punishment.


Chelsea reached an agreement but Man City were arrogant enough to think they could get away with it. No contrition. No humility.
If they appeal the penalties could be even more severe.

Isn't the appeal process under the same time constraints as the Southampton one? i.e. has to be concluded in a set number of days? Both appeal and ruling.

I fervently hope you're right Dun, but I have a nagging feeling that they'll get away with a mega fine (a few £10Ms) and a huge points deduction (say 30-50 points) but crucially will still be in the Prem the next season, because they'll be seen as too big to fail.

Don't think there's a time limit on the appeal but the unidentified panel will also make the recommendation on sanctions. They probably know what they are but will they release them before the appeal against the guilty verdicts?

Appeal within 14 days but no time limit on how long before a decision made. A new panel hears the appeal including someone with a judicial background.

Interesting listening to the reaction of City fans. Most, including Noel Gallagher, took a fairly balanced view and didn't try to defend the club. Some, however, said they didn't like the regulations and that they were specifically aimed at City so the club were right to ignore them.
It's like saying I don't like the offside rule so it doesn't apply to us.
Agree Bright, it will be interesting to see what the other PL clubs demand in compensation.

Burnley got over £30m from Everton for a relatively minor breach of the rules but one that could possibly have contributed to Burnley's relegation.
This should be a good time for the PL to ensure that all these dodgy accounting practices are permanently stopped and although it will never be a totally level playing field it will reduce the chances of buying success.

In reply to Ealing, City can't appeal to CAS. They can appeal to a new independent PL panel with a judicial member but that's it. The clubs are signed up to that.

If there's no time limit before a final decision, that's a shame, because the lawyers will string it out as long as they can to maximise their fees.
Whatever the verdict on appeal, are further appeals allowed, or is that it?
