Before we bought Trafford we were linked with Suzuki, who on Saturday gave away a goal to Fulham against Villa, and Hornicek, who last night gave one away to Everton against Newcastle. Whoever we chose the risk was there.

I'm pretty sure we got the best out of the 3.

i think it goes Suzuki, Trafford, Hornicek.

Im a huge Trafford advocate but, dropping the cross aside, I've been massively impressed with Suzuki at Villa. He's a clear upgrade on what Martinez gave them the past two years. He was the main reason they got the win vs. Spurs earlier, and made a truly world class save earlier in the Fulham game.

Trafford is better than Hornicek, who himself looks promising if a little more raw than Trafford for me.

I agree Ealing Suzuki is looking mustard. Trafford despite his error at weekend has looked assured and his command of the area has come on loads. Hard to say who's the better keeper at this moment in time.

Trafford cost us £40M whereas Suzuki only cost Viilla £30M. We could have had a very capable keeper, and still have had £10M left over to put towards a new striker.

The thing is we couldn't have had Suzuki because Villa were in for him and PSG before that.

Just because he cost £30m and therefore looks affordable isn't the only factor. An objectively more attractive club right now with a class manager and champions league football wanted to make Suzuki their no.1.

Maybe it's fair to say villa have got better value out of it so far paying £30m vs. Our £40m for Trafford. But it doesnt mean we could have had Suzuki. Suzuki looked class at the world cup but it's still a question mark moving to a new league. Trafford is English had some prem experiences and his strengths and weaknesses were pretty battle tested in the prem so less of an unknown quantity.

We also could not have swooped in because villa knew Martinez wanted out for 2 yrs so planned this. And they nearly lost out to PSG before they backed out.
