Giana played well, but England were a long way from being good - played way too slow, and Jude played the missing man role really well. A few others were astoundingly terrible

Come on Canada.

England were ponderous, and Ghana parked the bus in defence, so they couldn't find a way thru. Their right back Senaya was particularly impressive, seeing off Gordon, then Madueke, then Rashford. Were we looking for a RWB, I'd maybe take a closer look at him.

Anyone else not rate Bellingham that much. Morgan Rogers should be getting more gametime.

Bellingham is over-hyped, overpaid and sadly over there.

It makes me so angry when he is in the team; his attitude stinks on and off the pitch, and he really isn't anywhere near as good as he thinks. His brother is bang average, but he's better than Jude.

At my age, it doesn't pay to get so invested in the hope that we might actually achieve something at a World Cup, but I don't think I have been so utterly depressed by a performance and a team. 20 minutes in and Shearer was waxing lyrical about how good England were playing [tip-tapping sideways and back constantly], little did he know that that was the blueprint for the rest of the game.

At 20 minutes, we had ~300 passes to 32, but the same number of touches in the final third!

Thank goodness, Ghana had no ambition, because our back line was a basket case last night [rather than just Pickford].

The most amusing thing about last night was Pickford telling everyone to "calm down!" As if England could have actually played any slower!

Ha, enjoyable post, Ani. I agree with your sentiments about Bellingham. Definitely overhyped.

Bellingham has that air of petulance which is driven by him thinking and believing that he is better than he is.
