Not sure on DJ but with Anton stach recently playing further up the pitch it does mean 2 positions (LW/RW) or (LW/AM) or whatever the 2 positions end up being behind the striker.

Wilson
Okafor
James
Bahoya

All fighting for 2 positions. Sometimes stach plays deeeper and tanaka drops out but still means some1 misses out. I know they play different sides but specifically the right side seems to be Stach / Wilson / Arronson / James.

So it wouldn't surprise me if James if weighing up his options in January subject to his desire to play regularly or bench warm.

The little tweak on formation has caused a few problems. I'm glad he made it. It was necessary. But leaves a few players scrapping for one spot really. Bayou untried and Wilson and stack underwhelming. And Okafor and James on different wings.

It's a conundrum. Think adding an extra mf instead of having two wingers a good thing. Bogle and Justin more than enough poke on that side. Leaving Okafor on his own. Or no Okafor and ba or Wilson.

If James wants to go, I'd say let him. Full respect for giving his all for years. Work rate not in doubt. A pace merchant who couldn't deliver, somewhat harshly i feel half his goals have been mishits. But he often tracked back, tried. Even if it led to penalty awards against like Chelsea.

But a pace merchant past his best? Too good for the championship at his peak but not good enough for prem. Now a clear Championship player. A fair amount still on his contract too. Hopefully we can convince Wrexham he's worth a punt as they try to go up. Maybe a low upfront fee in Jan with a clause giving us a few more million if they come up.

Doesn't mean we can't subsidise an exit in fairness. Happens all the time. If we wanted a fee (hypothetically) of £7m and Wrexham or someone else says we can't afford those wages, we take £2m. The difference between 30K a week and 80K a week is about £2.6m. So we offer to subsidise a few years of James' money (maybe have a clause written in that we don't if they get promoted) . We get a small fee and not insignificant salary relief for a depreciating asset with a chance to recoup fees for a side trending towards promotion.

Realistically, I'd expect Wrexham if they moved for James, to pay him more than an ageing Kieffer Moore, maybe not a lot more, but closer to 35K-40K too.
