I don't think we played poor at all, it's clear to me that Sunderland came to Elland rd knowing they couldn't beat us at a game of football and bought their spoiling tactics, wasting time and getting in the refs ear and for most of the game getting all their players to defend against us.

On any given day these type of games end up in a nil nil draw but they got lucky with an accidental hand ball decision.
I'm frustrated we didn't get a point out of this game but that's football and we move on to the next game.

I tend to agree in the main, but for me, our play was a bit too frantic, and a bit too "hopeful". Too many balls just pumped into the air.
When you consider the way we played vs Citeh, at a player by player level, every player had a good day that day. Last night everyone was not at the same level, which is partially to be expected after their exertions a few days ago.

Someone, I think Mo, suggested resting players last weekend? In hindsight, that could have been wise?
How we didn't have a peno is beyond words.
Finally, Sunderland's gamesmanship was an effin disgrace, and something, other than added time, needs to be done about it. They're being allowed to destroy matches as both sport, and a spectacle! Stinks, and boils my wazz!

Thing is, Bright, they defended in numbers, and you could see that it wasn't easy to break them down. Even with pace, we were limited in getting the ball in the box.

This grappling needs to be sorted out. It can't surely go on like this. It's not football.

Agree, Sunderland came with no intention of playing football, spoiling and disrupting at every opportunity, and a weak ref let them away with it. These were the games we struggled with in the Championship. Without a strong ref, it's difficult.

Ampadu was at fault for the pen, no doubt. If that's what Sunderland have been watching all season to be where they are, then I would rather be us, generally watching decent football. On to the next. MOT

Think Mo captured all the main points in his excellent post below. We looked a good way off the pace, and we played everything in front of them in what was a very organised Sunderland defence, who clearly came for a point, something we have done many times ourselves this season.

Ballard (I can't stand him) is a very good player, but he would have been delighted to have seen us line up with a lone striker and very little pace out wide.

Norwich is a good game for us.

It is a chance to return to 3/5/2 and get a partner for DCL. JJ takes Gruev's spot, who, sorry to say, is not EPL level, and please get Bijol back in, who looks our biggest chance of a goal just now.

I get we are still ahead of our point-a-game target, but as Wolves are showing, momentum is huge in football, and ours is trending in the wrong direction just now.

Statement performance needed against Norwich, and here's hoping the boys and DF are fired up to deliver.

No, you're all wrong. We played well; it was the other side who cheated. ??‍♂️

I have to remind you it's just your opinion, Whiteman. Some of us have our own.

And less of the cheek Whiteman, no one has said we played well against a team that came to Elland road to frustrate the game of play.
We tried our best in the circumstances.
Knocking the players and coach is something you are a specialist at.

It's a chuckle, eh, Whiteman.

Surprised you haven't got your Farke out flag again, Aus. Losing a game is usually your cue for it.
Could give a monkey's what you two self-proclaimed experts on Leeds United have to say anyways, apart from chuckling material.

It's all very well bleating on about rotation, but when it does happen, certainly with Longstaff and Tanaka, they've been terrible.

However, there is an argument for Bijol, and I would like to see him given more opportunities to showcase his qualities.

What a contradiction. ??‍♂️ It blows one way, then turns around and blows the other. They came with a game plan to frustrate; they knew they couldn't beat us, and exactly that is what they did. ? So now our manager had no game plan? Didn't know how to handle your opposition? Question from 49ers to Daniel: What would you do as the manager if a team came to frustrate you, defended well, and didn't want to score goals? How would you set up your team to deal with that? Don't know.

Good news, Daniel, job's yours.

Just let me have a little snigger before I start this post. ????
I think Farke pretty much tried everything he could last night, one thing he has been this season and that's multi dimensional in his tactics, it's only fans like you who blurt out what some other pundit, journalist or other fan has spewed out and repeated.

I'd say the one thing we did lack in last night against Sunderland's performance and that was brutality, we should have shown more aggression.

No, I was really quoting what was said. I didn't make it up; it's all there for all to see.
I really feel that in that box on your head something is trying to get out, but I'm not sure what it is. Onwards and upwards. Bring on the next game.

Thanks for that information, Whiteman. Next time I look in the mirror, I'll see if there's a box on the top of my head with something trying to get out of it.
If there is, and something jumps out of it, you'll be the first to know.

I think we need to criticise Farke, not Farke out.
His selection was over cautious, three defensive midfielders, dcl on his own up front, with an attacking midfielder who Farke picks cause he is the best at defending.

We were at home to a mid table side who, as Farke said, were narrow and expected to hit us on the break. How are we going to break them down by playing for a draw up to 60 mins and then going for it, waiting to see how Sunderland do with Xhaker? What is he, Pele or something?
We can moan about VAR, but our negative team selection contributed more.

We should have gone out and taken that game to them, whatever their tactics, and the reason we didn't is down to Farke's negative team selection.
