That was like watching the Sunderland game all over again, even the shirts looked like borrowed Mackems kit. Brentford came to defend deep and look for a breakaway goal. Luckily we didn't give anything away today, but our perennial inability to score against a disciplined low block defence was there for all to see once again.

Let's hope for a Villa win and a Spuds Florists draw tomorrow.

Brentford defended in numbers, and fought very hard to prevent any kind of quality balls into the box. As Leeroy pointed out, DCL had little to nothing to even make an attempt on goal.

You could tell that they came to Elland Rd tonight with the intention to frustrate. Collins was getting in the ref's ear constantly to try to get Pascal sent off, and they offered virtually nothing as an out-and-out attacking threat.


It had stalemate written all over it after about 15 mins of watching.

Also, I thought the standard of refereeing in the Championship was really bad, sad to say there's not much difference in the Premiership.

There's a simple fact that is often overlooked here. Every side struggles against a low block. That's why sides deploy it when their objective is primarily "not to lose". We are not the only ones who struggle against these tactics.


Most teams see a point from ER as a good result. Like OP says, away results are now more critical, and will be so even more next season, if we stay up.
